Review:Still reading the book but already found some errors that detract from my enjoyment of the material.
You'd think a book about cybersecurity would at least use a proofreader or editor that would know the difference between a silicon "die" and "dye".
They also clearly didn't get a good enough explanation of things like BGP and denial-of-service attacks. I found this disheartening. Read more
Review:1-16-14. Having been a cybersecurity professional for over 20 years (long before it was called "cyber security") I am delighted to find a presentation that I can recommend to my non-technical family and friends who look at me with the "deer in the headlights" stare when I attempt to explain the complexities of the Internet and the security issues. The authors have gone to great lengths to simplify a very complicated topic and my "hat is off" to them. Nice job. Great book. Read more
Review:The book arrived damaged and dirty. Someone at the warehouse must have dropped it, and it must have gotten hit at least twice when it fell; furthermore, the box cover was intact. The CD inside is sealed and intact, and the pages have clean surfaces; that's a relief. But, I am not happy paying for a new book that gets to me looking dirty and damaged; it's not what I paid for. Review:This was the first book I purchased from Amazon for school, and it came in great condition. I was thinking that purchasing a used book would be a result of a stinky, beat up horror, but I was surely wrong! Read more
Review:I would strongly recommend this book because it is clearly written, easy understanding language, well thought teaching.
The book teaches in detail all the commands from linux, with didactic, very educational. Definitely worth purchase. Read more

I was alive during most the quarter century that the book covers and was able to see and know many of these developments first hand.
The early history starts out with the Model Railroad club at MIT in the late 50’s through the early 60’s ... Read more
Review:This book was very interesting, held my attention well but the simple writing style distracted me so that is why I gave the book 3 instead of 4 stars. The writing style reminded me of reading an intelligent 5th or 6th grader could write. I get the impression the author wrote the book, his coauthor was only allowed to tinker with it somewhat. If this is so, it would have been nice if the professional writer was allowed to write and Mr. Mitnick then "tinkered". Yes, this style does distract me to ... Read more
