Lots of excellent information here presented at a pace suited for someone with little to no command-line experience.
However, there are a couple of chapters that promise to treat a subject only to give the most superficial glossing - for instance the chapter on compiling source code is entirely too cursory (and indeed there are entire books written on the subject).
Overall, it is a great introductory text that will give a novice a lot of useful tools for dealing with linux.

Incredible book to get started. I had zero linux experience before this book and feel very comfortable with the command line now. I most definitely do not feel like an advanced user, but this book has set me on the perfect track.

Much of the technical writing I encounter on the Web consists of menus, when what I need are recipes, preferably recipes with training wheels. Bill Shotts provides recipes in his book and on his website. His design training shows in his effort to make his information accessible to readers who need to get results.
The lay flat binding is a good choice for recipe books of all kinds. Libre Write now provides mirror margins, so that the outside margins on the left and right pages can be the same, removing the distraction caused by lack of symmetry and keeping sticky thumbs off the recipes. This is a very small flaw in a superb book. I only mention it here because I suspect Bill Shotts of being a perfectionist and possibly monitoring the reviews.

Attended few online Linux courses and searched online books for few weeks, but no doubt this one of the best books for learning Linux command line. I already had pdf version of the book but feel its such a good book I ordered hard copy. I keep it on my desk as reference.

For someone who uses the Linux command line extensively, but not exclusively, this is a Must Have addition to his/her technical library. This book provides all of the common Linux commands in a straight forward, easy to understand format.
Please RateThe Linux Command Line: A Complete Introduction
The book teaches in detail all the commands from linux, with didactic, very educational. Definitely worth purchase.
