DanTDM: Trayaurus and the Enchanted Crystal

Review:I got this book for my son. He is in 2nd grade, and it's the only book he has ever read all by himself with out my having to urge him on. He started and continued on until he finished it. I took him two days. He is an avid Minecraft fan and loves to watch the YouTube videos of Dan TDM. Hopefully Dan will write more books like this one. Read more

Persuasion in a World Where Facts Don't Matter - Win Bigly
Persuasion in a World Where Facts Don't Matter - Win Bigly

Review:Reading this is taking the red pill, staying in Wonderland, and giving you a peek at how deep the rabbit hole goes.
I don't disagree with Scott's observations, in fact, it has prompted me to do additional research inter persuasion and influence starting with the "prequel" to Bigly which is "Influence" by Cialdini. I am, however, uncomfortable with Scott's conclusions and takeaways. "Win Bigly" uses the backdrop of Trump's rise to power as a vehicle to describe the tools of influence and per... Read more

Flora and Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures
Flora and Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures

Review:Loved this book; the combination of the writing and the illustrations were superb. This is one of those unique books where the main character is a precocious outsider, but a believable kid. It's one of those books that it hard to explain (a squirrel that gets superhuman strength from a super-sucking vacuum cleaner, leading to a series of adventures and illuminations.) I loved it and I think that most kids would find this readable and interesting. Read more

Maximum Ride: The Manga, Vol. 8
Maximum Ride: The Manga, Vol. 8

Review:I've been reading the novels and manga for a while and volume 9 is really short compared to the others. I finished it in 30 minutes. Also, the character from the cover isn't really in this volume...I really wanted his character to be introduced to the flock.

Story is still enjoyable and some major character development. Story seemed a little rushed. Will I buy volume 10? Absolutely? Would I recommend this to anyone? Yes, especially those that love the series. Can't wait for volume 10! Read more

The Exile: An Outlander Graphic Novel
The Exile: An Outlander Graphic Novel

Review:I have never been so disappointed in anything in my life!! I took the word "graphic" to mean that the story would be bloodthirsty etc because it was supposed to be the story told from Jamie's point of view. It ended up being a lurid comic strip thing on shiny paper and the drawings were terrible in my opinion. I suppose we all have a picture in our head about what Jamie and Claire might look like but this book ruined it for me. I have shown this book to family and friends and they are all di... Read more

Descender, Vol. 1: Tin Stars
Descender, Vol. 1: Tin Stars

Review:I'm somewhere between a three and a four on this. Nguyen's artwork is incredible, and some of the best I've seen from him. I love his designs, and the watercolor look works extremely well for the painterly vibe of the story. Lemire etches a nook of his own in the sci-fi world here, with a lovingly developed world, full of unique races and planets. All of these ideas hit familiar notes though, and at the end of volume one, I'm still waiting for Lemire to show me why this work is different from wh... Read more
