The Sculptor
The Sculptor

Review:Scott McCloud's "Understanding Comics" is masterful, insightful and entertaining. He's great on theory and you should read that book.

However, he's not that great in practice. The drawings in this graphic novel are adequate but not striking and don't really contribute to the story. The story is pedestrian and low-energy. To me, it's weak character construction that everyone had a secret weakness, but maybe that's how artists really are. Read more

World of Warcraft: Vol'jin: Shadows of the Horde
World of Warcraft: Vol'jin: Shadows of the Horde

Review:Wonderfully written really captures what it means to be a troll in the Warcraft universe. Vol'jin is a beast. Mr. Stackpole did a great job showing the range of emotions that Vol'jin went through after Garrosh started slipping into madness. Read more

Simon's Cat 3: In Kitten Chaos
Simon's Cat 3: In Kitten Chaos

Review:Like many of my fellow feline enthusiasts, I have followed Simon's Cat on the internet for some time. When I found out that there was a book prepared in his honour, I was more than a little interested. After reviewing several pages, I was hooked. You may think that something is lost in translation ~~ a video clip type of approach to a stop action book approach, but Simon's Cat is just as wonderful in print as he is on internet. One of the best books I have purchased in quite some time. Read more

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Bestiary 1
Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Bestiary 1

Review:I've been very happy with all the Pathfinder resources that I've purchased. The books seem sturdy. The artwork is good. The content is good. The presentation of the material in this book is very good. Flipping through the pages made me remember looking through the original monster manuals when I first got those in the 80s. Good stuff. Star Wars: Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir
Star Wars: Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir

Review:Overall I have loved all things New Canon that Disney has done with the Star Wars universe, but this series is just bad. I love Darth Maul, he is one of the best parts of the prequel trilogy but in my opinion he should have stayed dead. One of the problems that I had with the old Canon was how characters, like the Emperor got brought back to life via cloning or another method. This to me cheapens the world that has been created, it lessens the stakes. That is one reason people love Game of Thron... Read more

T-Rex Trying
T-Rex Trying

Review:Checked this out from the library. My 14 year old son found it as hilarious as I did. My 11 year old son mostly just pitied the dino. When I insisted a friend read it he did and then promptly put on his T-Rex costume I forgot he had. Read more

The Little World of Liz Climo
The Little World of Liz Climo

Review:I actually purchased this little Desk Calendar as a gift for a Team Member. She loves Liz Climo.

I'll share my observations of what this calendar is like:

The print quality is fantastic, the pages pull off perfectly (as in, they don't tear awkwardly in the middle like a check does), and really.. who doesn't love Liz Climo?

If I had to pick apart anything about this calendar, it would be that the illustrations themselves have smaller lettering when they're full-sized... but o... Read more

Flashpoint
Flashpoint

Review:With everything that's going on... The CW's show "The Flash" doing Flashpoint in season 3, and with the DC Universe Rebirth, as well as Flash: Rebirth, this comic is absolutely essential. This is where everything changes... In a flash. Read more

Blackest Night
Blackest Night

Review:I recently started reading comics again and this was a great point to start back in. The art is amazing and the story is top notch. The Geoff Johns run on Green Lantern is one of the best comic story runs you can read. Read more
