Ghost World s/c
Ghost World s/c

Review:I have recently started reading screenplays, and this was given as a gift after having seen Ghost World four times. This is an excellent movie and I recommend it to most anyone.
The screenplay itself is just a screenplay, but a well written one. There are a few scenes that were either cut or shortened, and I really enjoyed them. But the best part of the book was all the extras, like introductions by Daniel Clowes and Terry Zwigoff. Plus there were a lot of pictures, and all the scene notes at... Read more

Asterios Polyp (Pantheon Graphic Library)
Asterios Polyp (Pantheon Graphic Library)

Review:Stunning! All I could think after reading Asterios Polyp for the first time was "what just happened to me?" This ground-breaking graphic novel achieves something I thought could not be done- it is completely original. Let's start with the cover- the artist's approach to the letters in the title of the book is so original that I couldn't stop from staring at the cover for ten minutes. Inside the cover, the end pages are beautiful drawings of flowers. This was just a taste of the painstaking d... Read more

Legends in Exile (Fables (Graphic Novels)) - Fables Vol. 1
Legends in Exile (Fables (Graphic Novels)) - Fables Vol. 1

Review:This is an interesting fairy tale story for adults. The book is nicely formatted so that you can read the captions and view the artwork on each panel on the computer. Both story and artwork are quite good and I look forward to reading more in this series. Read more

Jack Hinson's One-Man War, A Civil War Sniper
Jack Hinson's One-Man War, A Civil War Sniper

Review:Simply put, I really enjoyed this book. The author had done a ton of research and I was glad he brought this story to life. He was a little heavy on the foreshadowing but I'm willing to forgive him because the story was so fantastic. I also admit, that as a Southern boy it was nice to have the South (during the Civil War) painted in a kinder light than I have been used to reading or seeing. Read more

Are You My Mother?: A Comic Drama
Are You My Mother?: A Comic Drama

Review:Hard "story" to follow! Friends say it's not the format but the storyline itself, with all it's various angles. I'm on the fence... but not liking either, honestly. I felt like it was a distracted, disjunctive experience. Read more

Howl: A Graphic Novel
Howl: A Graphic Novel

Review:Bought for class. Item as described.
5 stars isn't about the content, but about the book arriving when it was supposed to and being the one pictured/undamaged.

I didn't end up reading it. Oops. Read more

The Absolute Sandman, Vol. 1
The Absolute Sandman, Vol. 1

Review:There are some horrific stories here and some wonderful ones, but all throughout the story telling is great, even if Gaiman looks back today and sees some awkwardness and clumsiness. I especially enjoyed reading the proposal for the Sandman comic series, as it gave me a real taste for how extensive an outline can be while allowing a great deal of room to flex and follow inspiration wherever it leads. Death: The High Cost of Living
Death: The High Cost of Living

Review:Death spends one day as a mortal each century, to understand what it means to be the barrier between life and everything else... Gaiman is masterful here as usual. "Didi" spends a day with Sexton, a youth who's considering suicide, and her enthusiasm for the world makes him realize that maybe life is worth living. But Gaiman's tale is not sappy, or overly moral - it's simply a reminder that the most important thing to do in your life is to stop and remember you're alive. As Sexton says, "... Read more

Fairy Tail 2
Fairy Tail 2

Review:The mystery of Everlue Mansion is wrapped up in the first half of this manga. The ending is sweet and satisfying, except for Lucy, who was expecting to get more out of the mission.

On returning to their guild hall, Fairy Tail, a big fight breaks out between Natsu and Gray. The fight expands into a bar room brawl involving most of the wizards at Fairy Tail. The fight is broken up by the arrival of Erza, a very powerful wizard. She uses Requip magic, that lets her switch weapons and armor i... Read more
