This book has all the wonderful illustrations and backstories you would expect/already love from the Monster Girl Encyclopedia artist. The book itself is very well constructed, with amazing details and a nice weight. Makes a great addition to my Monster Girl library.

The monster Girl encyclopedia is your not so average Monster manual with all the monsters portrayed as beautiful Females. The main illustrations are both beautiful and mostly Tasteful. The descriptions of the monstress's habitats and habits are well written, engaging, and somewhat lurid. Apparently most these monstresses would rather jump your bones than chew on them. My biggest complaint is the small and cartoonish fan service drawings on some of the opposite pages. The artwork is somewhat poor and usually it involves a somewhat graphic sexual scene. I prefer my fan service to at least be Artistic, not some poor rendering of the Main illustration comically drawn into an Very Adult Situation.

I must admit, as someone who has followed the original materials from the Japanese publications, I was genuinely surprised when an English Release was finally distributed stateside as it is something of a niche market in the USA. Once I read it, I could see this version of the Monster Girl Encyclopedia Volume 1 was somewhat misleading. A number of the entries in the Japanese release are completely left out wholesale, (such as only giving one Dragon entry while the Japanese release had SIX different dragons) while interjecting a couple of entries that were introduced in Volume 2 of the series, (the entry on "Alice" from the Wonderland Girls of Volume 2 springs to mind.) I am assuming that was done purposely to pad out an eventual English release of Volume 2 because, admittedly, it was rather light in both reading and monster entries in comparison to the original Japanese Volume 1.
However, to make up for the cut in monster entries, this book goes on to include the English translations of supplemental materials that explain the world, the regions, the history and religious factors and alliances. Such was NOT in the original Japanese Volume 1 and, to be frank, was a welcome edition as one doesn't need to go looking for info online from Light Novels, Trading Cards, and other various sources as a number of those things are now in ONE spot. Which, if you ask me, was a very fair trade-off.
Seriously, for those 18 years of age and up, (or age of Majority in their country of origin) this is an incredibly well done book and is great for aspiring Game Masters of D&D who wish to throw twists into their own settings. The amount of inspiration that can derived from this is incredible.

A wonderfully well written and illustrated book. This peers past the face-value of Monster Girls, and deeply explores the lore of the world that the author has imagined. The only reason I'm rating this book 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the copy that I received having errors in the printing process - due to the publisher, and not the author.

Very disappointing purchase. It's incredibly shallow in any interesting information that one would expect from an encyclopedia, with the entire focus for most races just being sexual behaviors and habits. None of it is particularly enticing either even if that is all you're after, though I guess it gives some ideas for your own writing. Like, I know it's monster girls so ecchi lewd s*** is going to be in it by nature but I was hoping for some substance to go with it to make it actually interesting. Would of liked some actual information and lore on top of the goofy nonsense. As it is there's a lot better sources that are free hanging around online that are also much better quality in writing and art. Yeah, the art is pretty average as well a majority of the species. There's really nothing too noteworthy about it aside the cover looking kind of neat, though mine also had a printing error with the foil title.

For the parents looking to buy this book for their Monster Girl Fanatic of a child I would advise against it. To be blunt, the book is full of pornography. I am not talking about bare asses or nip slips either, there is straight up pictures of penetrative sex and Semen everywhere. So if you don't want to see porn do not purchase the book. For the Mature Monster Girl Fans this book is perfect for you. The artwork is beautifully drawn, and rather creative and it gives a vast variety of different Monster Girls. The lore and insight behind each girl is really interesting too. I love this book, but for the weak of heart watch out for the dicks, pussy, and cum

Beware if you can't stand lolicon content.
At first I was very excited to receive this book as a gift. I love monster girls, especially the busty, curvy kind so the cover looked right up my alley. The majority of the book was great but I had to send it back for the sole reason that there's several pages featuring lolis- aka girls who are proportioned like children- in sexual situations.
At most I expected the smallest girls to be the size of Doppel or Papi from Monster Musume, both characters I love and I think have appropriate body sizes. But some of the lolis in this book were so petite it was genuinely disturbing to see them in sexual situations. If you're curious what I mean, look up the Fairy on the Monster Girl Encyclopedia Wiki. The wiki page has a censored image of what's in the book. The Dwarf is another example. If she had been proportioned like a typical fantasy/LOTR dwarf or real life adult small person that would've been great... but she looks way too young for my taste. Those two girls in particular ruined the book for me.
I realize that the girls are technically not human and would be considered consenting adults in their respective world. But I couldn't stomach some of the images. There wasn't any mention that there was such content on the book that I could find. I'd seen pictures from this book on various image boards before (Holstaur, Inari and Manticore always held my interest) but I never came across the lolicon images. I had seen some petite monsters too, but none of the ones I saw looked like children (their bodies looked similar to Doppel/Papi like I said before). If I had known I would not have even think of putting it on my wishlist. I made this review to warn other people who can't tolerate this kind of content.
If they release an alternative version without the lolicon pages (or at the very least removed the sex scenes with lolis) I would get this book again in a heartbeat. It was nicely bound, the art style is cute and from what I read the translation was really nice. I'd buy a poster of Holstaur if I could, she's my favorite. But next time I'll do a lot more research before buying a book like this.

My husband illustrated every character in this. He deserves rights to his work. Kenkou was always fair in crediting when they started this online so what I want to know is who published this? It's so sad to know his art is out there floating around unprotected. At least give him credit.
