Review:Seconds is the kind of story that would be great as a metaphor or as a thought exercise. As things stand, however, the presentation is too clear and straightforward, it just becomes tiresome and predictable. O'Malley is at his best when his story isn't being told, but rather implied, and there's simply too much telling here. Read more
Review:this story has very good artwork, and I would recommend this book to any person who likes supernatural things. The only bad thing (it's not that bad though) is that the main characters name isn't mentioned a lot (her name is Katie, if you don't know). Read more
Review:I love the story. I love the language. I love the art. I used to love to read it to my child (he's in high school now and isn't as willing to hear me read to him).
What? You haven't gotten a copy yet? *shakes head sadly* Read more
Review:3.5/5 Stars
I am so happy that Iko is finally getting her own story and I love that it's in this new format. The art by Douglas Holgate is great, and while not everyone is depicted the way I pictured them, it all looks cohesive. Story wise I like where things are headed but it took too long to really get into it. I'm glad Meyer is focusing on Iko's inner workings and how she perceives life and how others perceive her. Hopefully the next one will cover more and give us a satisfying conclus... Read more
Review:This story of Craig’s adolescence is very well crafted and told in a very compelling fashion. The storyline kept me hooked for the duration of novel and I really cared for the characters. The artwork is easy to follow and attractive to the eye. I also liked that this was a longer graphic novel, so it had enough substance to make it feel like it was worth my money. My one regret is that I read this in the middle of the summer, but it would be a perfect read for those cozy winter days by the fire. Read more
Review:Unlike Alison Bechdel's childhood home, my house lacks a library, so I usually pass books along to new homes, but I want this one with me forever. It's brilliant, affecting, stunning. Wowwee kazowee! Buy it, read it, keep it forever! Read more
Review:Ok, so i'm doing this review for books 1 to 12
I absolutely love this series, it has everything, just everything, Kim sucks you in and never let go and you don't want to leave this world she created. I love every secondary character, even though they all have murderous tendencies, every single one of them but deep down they all have good in them and Kim shows that to you.
My favorite characters are Jenks, Al, Kisten and Trent and i do hope that Kim does something with Al,it just about brok... Read more
Review:Neil Gaiman, Death: The High Cost of Living (Vertigo, 1994)
I had a really odd "I'm old" moment when reading this, and seeing Tori Amos' bio listing Under the Pink as a not-yet-completed album to be released early in the next year. Whoa.
Death became, early on, such a popular character in the Sandman books that she got the first spinoff comic. Two collections of it exist; this is the first. It's a minor, but charming, piece of work from camp Gaiman-and-co. One day every century, De... Read more
Review:The book arrived a lot sooner than the estimated date and I was very happy. It was a in perfect condition, and I was very happy to receive this wonderful piece of art published by Neil Gaiman. Anyone who has ordered Neil Gaiman's "Preludes and Nocturnes" in the Sandman series, you HAVE to order this one! Read more
Review:I pre-ordered volume one of the Sandman Omnibus back in May, and have been waiting not-so-patiently for it ever since. It is everything I was hoping for and more. The quality is superb. I'm so excited to re-read the Sandman collection, all gathered together in 2 volumes. For die-hard fans, this is a must have. I couldn't be happier! I have to say though, if you're picking this up as a newbie, it might be best to start with the individual issues for comfort and ease of transport. This thing is HU... Read more
