Review:In times of stress when authors are producing crap (yes, that is what many publisher's are putting out there with superb quotes that can not possibly be real) and calling their "work" writing! So far from the truth as to be outside the Milky Way galaxy. My favorite "writer" to call out for this is James Patterson. Tom Wolfe's work is indeed worthy of another go 'round if you do not care for the classics and if you do care for the classics as well. I have read Bonfire so many times that my hard... Read more

Song of Solomon and the Last Words of David/2 Samuel 23

Review:As mentioned in my reviews of the earlier Works, I find that Luther works too hard to "excuse" Abraham. Sadly, this does extend to the other Patriarchs (and Matriarchs). I find that he is argues far too strenuously in regards the actions of Rebecca and Jacob. It all most comes across as "the ends justifies the means" because these people are ultimately doing God's Will. Now I know Luther does not intend this - as he argues even more strenuously that his readers do not imitate them - that these e... Read more

Review:Finding Joanna Penn and her site/blog has helped me so much as an independent author. This book is a great starting point for anyone who wants to make money writing but isn't sure where to start. Joanna Penn details what authors need to do to make this dream reality. I highly recommend! Read more

2015 International Energy Conservation Code
2015 International Energy Conservation Code

Review:ICC system of organization & cross referencing seems to be set up so that the authors can prove how obtuse they can make something. I have worked with Building Codes for 40-years and they just seem to get more illogical in organization each issue. Going to multiple locations to try to piece together the requirements for an issue often leads to varying interpretations of the intent to no one's benefit. Read more

Webster's Thesaurus for Students, Third Edition
Webster's Thesaurus for Students, Third Edition

Review:This is a very competent thesaurus. However, I do not recommend it to new/young readers and writers. My son was lost without the 'lettered' pages and the small print. I'm definitely going to keep this book because it will be invaluable to him when he's 9-10 years old. I'm going to look for a more rudimentary option on Amazon. Good luck! Read more

Holy Cow!: An Indian Adventure
Holy Cow!: An Indian Adventure

Review:The author describes India as profound and profane. That pretty much sums up her book as well. Maybe Disney Land with the whiff and splat of raw sewerage would be another summation of her india. She thoroughly investigates every single "ism" and geographic location on the sub continent. Calcutta is about the only place she doesn't visit. The book is thoroughly educational from a cultural, religious, and geographic stand point. In reading up on India for a coming visit she is one of the best... Read more

The Stranger in My Genes: A Memoir
The Stranger in My Genes: A Memoir

Review:Very interesting story. Author worked for years on his family history only to discover through DNA testing that his father was not his biological father. Lots of detective work to discover his biological family. Good read. Wonderful book for anyone interesting in genealogy, family history, DNA research or just a good mystery story. Read more

Sister Carrie
Sister Carrie

Review:Young woman is taken advantage of by an older married man of means who falls madly in love with her. His good fortune turns into tragedy while her fortune turns into success due to her beauty and ability to act on the stage. This was quite controversial when first published in 1900. The author provides a narrative along with the plot, providing philosophical and psychological input into the actions of the characters. Interesting. Read more
