Lords of the North
Lords of the North

Review:The author combines historical elements with fiction in this tale of Saxons vs Danes. The tale takes place mainly in what is now Northern England. Perhaps most interestingly after the tale is over the author reveals the fictional and the real life characters, battles and locales. Read more

National Geographic Kids Beginner's World Atlas
National Geographic Kids Beginner's World Atlas

Review:This is a beautiful atlas, and my 3 year old is obsessed with it. However, Mexico and the Central America countries are just glossed over on the broad North America page. Would have been nice to have a page on the Mexican states and one close up of the Central American countries. There is a page that shows the states/territories of Australia, but as another review mentioned New Zeeland and Oceania are missing as well. Read more

Review:I don't like this book's binding. It's difficult to view the portions of the map closest to the center crease of the book without damaging the book, because the paperback version isn't very durable. I prefer Britannica's Student Atlas. Read more

Review:Very good product. Bought this for my daughter at Christmas. She was 10 years old at the time and now is 11. Months later, she still enjoys doing her nails, using the designs in this book. Not sure about the quality of the polish, but that's not the point. Buy this for the instructions and ideas. Read more

National Geographic Atlas of the World - Ninth Edition

Review:Myself and all of my guests are 'wowed' by this volume. The level of detail and world facts are simply astounding. I would love to have a child to give this to as a gift; they could get lost in this atlas for hours at a time. Read more

How I Write: Secrets of a Bestselling Author
How I Write: Secrets of a Bestselling Author

Review:I will never be a Janet Evanovich and have never read her books although I am familiar with her as a great author. But I do write (only one novel and several non-fiction) but this little book is an excellent and easy read to help aspiring writers with the entire writing process. She begins characters, moves through structure and all the other points many of which I never thought of and ends with publishing and editors and agents, you name it. What I like the most is the question and answer forma... Read more

Essential Plays / The Sonnets (Second Edition) - Based on the Oxford Edition

Review:It's a great piece, but it's not comfortable to carry-around. The pages are a little thing, but it works as a great composite piece. As a whole, It's great. However, If you're looking for individual pieces, get the individual plays. Read more

A Twenty-First-Century Guide to Sailing the Sea of Story
A Twenty-First-Century Guide to Sailing the Sea of Story

Review:Lavinia, like Helen of Troy, is a woman of epic poetry, over whom wars are fought. Given little to say in The Aeneid, she blossoms in her own story. I thought it was interesting how Le Guin creates a character who is aware that she is the creation of a poet, but lives her life to the fullest. A great read. Read more
