Review:This book, Phonics Pathways started out with "acknowledgements". It then had a lengthy introduction. Then the reader journeys through "About Phonics Pathways". Then there was a discourse on "Getting Started". Then it had an article, "About Dewey". All of that before delivering anything informative about phonics. It did offer some good tools for teaching phonics after 12 pages of "stuff'. The tools it provided is the only reason my score for this book isn't lower. Read more
Review:Buying these books is ridiculous when you can rent them. We're broke college students so why spend $100+ on a book you barely use? This book was in such great condition the access code wasn't even scratched. I won't be scratching it and using it because I'm not sure of that voids the rental but it was nice to see. Don't buy text books unless it applies to your major and can be used for later reference. Otherwise you may end up like me with a stack of text books the school wouldn't buy back! I wi... Read more

Review:The book was in horrible condition when I received it. Pages were folded, crinkled and the back cover is being held on by 2 small sloppy pieces of decorative tape. This book needs to be taken out of circulation. Read more
Review:Portable Edition-- What does this mean?
The portable edition of Literature: An Introduction to Fiction, Poetry, Drama, and Writing, Portable Edition (11th Edition,is broken up into four(4) smaller books, each covering one of the units in the standard edition. The pages in the portable edition are the same as in the standard edition-- meaning, even though the book is smaller vertically, the words on the page will still be the same as in the standard edition. Keep in mind the original/standard b... Read more
Review:A beautifully written Victorian era supernatural adventure! A little bit dry at times, making some parts difficult to get through, but it shines beautifully when it needs to. The world created in this book is incredibly dark and beautiful, the character of She a haunting one, unique for her time. Definitely a book I would recommend to anyone looking for some less well known Classical literature. Read more
Review:After several years of watching TED Talks, it finally hit me that I could incorporate those principles into the public speaking I do in my job. I've read books, web articles, and various other materials about how to give a TED Talk. I've watched YouTube videos. I've watched TED Talks ABOUT TED Talks, and so on.
When I saw this book, I had to have a copy. I mean, if it's written by Chris Anderson, it's got to be good, right? I'd only gotten through the first few pages, and was already... Read more
Review:This book contained some fascinating insights into the art of writing fiction, but frankly, I thought it was written very poorly(!). I did not flow at all and read much like some of the worst textbooks I've seen. He obviously has read a wide variety of books, but he assumes the reader is familiar with them.
I think this may be a good book for English majors or experienced writers, but not for young writers. For us young and inexperienced writers, he talks above our heads.

Review:This would be an excellent Spanish teaching book, except for one thing. It doesn't tell you exactly how to pronounce the words. If I wasn't already familiar with the Spanish language, having grown up in an Hispanic neighborhood, I'd probably be saying a lot of the words wrong. Other than that, it's a very good book. Just be sure you order some Spanish CDs and/or speak Spanish with native speakers as often as possible. Read more
