John: The Gospel of Light and Life (John series)
John: The Gospel of Light and Life (John series)

Review:Adam Hamilton is approaching the Gospel of John in his typical manner. He finds the dominate themes he wants to speak to and uses a practical style to tie the facets together. At times he seems to swing into the margins, but only briefly. And he always comes back to the broader, middle path. When he treads the philosophical/theological depths, he brings a practical, real-life story to tie it together.

John is not an easy book to deal with. It is deeply theological. It also deviates from t... Read more

An Interactive Family Celebration of Advent - The Wonder of the Greatest Gift
An Interactive Family Celebration of Advent - The Wonder of the Greatest Gift

Review:Loved doing this advent calendar with my kids. The ornaments do not stay hanging on the tree well and are easy to lose. You will not be able to put this away after each day, all the ornaments would fall off if you did. You have to leave it up so be prepared to have a surface taken up for 25 days. The devotions are very short and appropriate for kids ages 2-5. If I do it again I'll use a small fake xmas tree to hang them on and skip the tree that comes with the book. Read more

the love story that captured a million hearts - Discover the author of Me Before You
the love story that captured a million hearts - Discover the author of Me Before You

Review:This is a light and funny collection of one novella and several short stories. I prefer the depth of novels, but if you’re looking for quick, short reads, this is fun.

Moyes is able to give intriguing glimpses into her characters’ lives in very brief tales. In a couple of the stories, married life does not seem appealing at all. The short story Holdups is particularly funny, but there are a lot of hilarious lines throughout the book.

There isn’t a ton of depth here, but it was defi... Read more

The Present (Malory Novels (Paperback))
The Present (Malory Novels (Paperback))

Review:Once again, Johanna Lindsey has managed to capture the magic of the Malory family. A group of reckless daredevils, any reader will love it when brothers James and Anthony clash. Their verbal battles are always a hit. But their battles seem to cease temporarily as the family comes together to hear the story of the Gypsy Malory grandmother. It's a heartwarming tale that proves within the Malory sector, class and rank is of no importance. Anna Malory's gift was a truly special one, especiall... Read more

The Surprising Truth Behind the Birth of Christ - Hidden Christmas
The Surprising Truth Behind the Birth of Christ - Hidden Christmas

Review:I have read many books on the meaning of Christmas. This one is OUTSTANDING! It is both easy and deep reading. Keller's insights continue to astound. We are using for an Advent study in our Sunday School, and everyone is loving it. That says a lot since usually they only like DVD studies -- and they have to actually READ this book! :-) Read more

How Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol Rescued His Career and Revived Our Holiday Spirits
How Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol Rescued His Career and Revived Our Holiday Spirits

Review:Mostly fascinating book about Charles Dickens' composition of his famous CHRISTMAS CAROL. Very interesting parts about the publication world of his time, so very very different than ours....and that Dickens was not always a success and wrote fast and sometimes angrily against the ghost of bankruptcy which had thrown his father in jail and changed Charles at the age of ten from a middle class young scholar to a penniless factory boy, first awakening Dickens to the misery of the poor. The story o... Read more
