Once again, Johanna Lindsey has managed to capture the magic of the Malory family. A group of reckless daredevils, any reader will love it when brothers James and Anthony clash. Their verbal battles are always a hit. But their battles seem to cease temporarily as the family comes together to hear the story of the Gypsy Malory grandmother. It's a heartwarming tale that proves within the Malory sector, class and rank is of no importance. Anna Malory's gift was a truly special one, especially to Jason and Molly. I highly recommend this read.

I thought that this book was really good because I got to see what had happened after the last one. I know that I'm the type of reader that loves to know what happened after the story ends and this book continues the story. I loved that Jason and Molly finally got together, because they deserved to after such a long time. I believe that Mrs. Lindsey should write books about the Anderson's and my personal favorite character Jeremy Malory

The Present is the sixth in the Malory Family series and fans of the previous books will love the opportunity to revisit old favorites and get a glimpse of their stories six years after the end of Say You Love Me. The book has an interesting format and a new love story, the grandparents of the elder Malory's, Anastasia and Christopher. Ms. Lindsey has crafted a book that readers unfamiliar with the series will enjoy, but there are several points in the book that refer to the previous stories and the simplified explanations of the characters do not give the full depth of their motivations to the unfamiliar reader. The conflict between James and George presents an interesting flashback for the reader, but I don't feel that someone who didn't read their story will fully comprehend. If you liked the other Malory books, you will LOVE this one.

The first Johanna Lindsey book that I did not like. I have ready other novels involving the Mallory family, and enjoyed them. This book was confusing. There wasn't much romance. It was like a whose who of the Mallory family. Most folks have family trees about the size of an oak. The Mallory family is like a REDWOOD! And JL explores every damn twig of that Redwood! If you really want a great JL read, try "You Belong to Me", "Angel," or "Love Me Forever".

The Malorys are my favorite series out of several authors. However, after reading this, I stand by my feeling that Ms. Lindsey is losing her touch. This book was all over the place and really left musch to be desired. Jason has a mistress which produced a son who thinks his mother is a cold hearted bitter woman, and if you ask me, the son wasn't as upset as he should have been when he saw his real mom was still alive. It seemed all the characters just fell flat of previous novels depicting them. James, Tony, and Regina's husband (Nick) was getting a bit far fetched and made you wonder if they were ever really Rake Hells of London at any time. Even the suppose psychic in the family couldn't see the plots were just too many to keep up with and under developed?!

Bottom line, this is about 3 books in one with none of the storylines living up to Malory standards or Johanna's for that matter but if "Everyone Loves a Lindsey", then it's for you.

Lindsey is and will always be an enchanter of tales. The book wasn't long enough true, but then none of them are and she keeps you wanting more. The Malorys speak for themselves and this little "Present" put to rest the background that was just passed from generation to generation but never varified. There is still more to come from this family you can be sure.

The Mallory Clan has become one of my favorite families. The latest entry The Present is a quick look into the beginnings of the whole wonderful saga. All my favorite characters and more are in this story. It is a quick read that is entertaining and a must read for any fan of the Mallorys. Where will Ms. Lindsey take us from here? I don't know but I can't wait until the next chapter is on the shelves. The Present has me re-reading the whole series.

This is a Great addition to the Malory novels! I love it when the intire family is interacting- it's just too funny at times. My favirot part has to be James and Anthony's "fight" with the door- it was great! I do recomend reading the other novels before this one though, it will make it much more enjoyable.

Malory lovers who have been longing for another escape into the lives of the enchanting Malory clan shouldn't miss "The Present." This enthralling tale features the whole brood together under one roof. The repartee between James and Anthony is scintillating, as always -- it was one of my favorite things about this book. And the way the gypsy's story was woven into the plot was a stroke of sheer genius. I devoured this book. Couldn't put it down. P.S. "The Present" provides some insight into where some of the rowdy family members inherited their wild streaks and untamed natures!

This authors books are generally entertaining, but this one was a bit lacking. I kept reading only to find some great surprise around the corner. Generally, it was predictable, not as funny as her other works and basically a disappointment. A long awaited sequel it was, worth the wait- NOT!

I received this book as a Christmas present last year, and I read it again this year before Christmas. The "present" helps several members of the Malory family. I love the bantering among the Malory men, if it can be called that. I read this book in record time, and although it is short, it is a wonderful read. I will probably read it every Christmas from now on. "The Present" included the whole Malory clan and gives you the rest of the story from Lindsey's earlier novels. If you like the Malory's, you'll love this book.

This isn't a typical Lindsey storyline full of steamy sex scenes. It's a small piece of history for the Malory clan. This is a sweet romamce about a marquis who believes the adage that "it's just not done" and a gypsy who leaves the only life she knows be escape a cruel fiance. This is a wonderful story about loosing your heart and overcoming social barriers. I hope that this isn't the last of the Malory novels because I am just dying for Ms. Lindsey to write the story of James Malory's son, Jeremy. Anyone who loves the Malorys will love The Present.

This book was fantastic. I loved the other Malory books, but I must say that this was my favorite. I hope that she will make more books about the younger Malory generation. This is a definate book to buy and re-read. I hope others enjoy it as much as I have.

I enjoyed this extremely the only reason I did not give it 5 stars is it was just to short. I love the whole series about the Mallory's. In this book it lets you see that older brother is truly one of the Mallory's, full of passion and love. The tale about the first of the line of Mallory's was great. It explained where some of them recieved their traits from.I hope that in the near future there is more about them. It is a big family. I just hope there is more story to love. I would recommand this to everyone. It is a great book on it's own.But I think you would be crazy to not read the whole series.

I really enjoyed this one. All of them together again for the holidays. It was fasinating reading about the grandparents and how they met, granted it wasn't as interesting as how some of the others got together, but it was still a very good book!

Johanna gives us some closing to characters. They actually do have a future! And with that we get the past. We find out who started the Malory's off. Included in that we get introduced to new family members who just beg to have a life of there own. Jeremy is finally old enough to be viewed seriously as a potential hero. If you read any of this series you have to read this book. If not because of all it brings, then because of pure dedication, and loyalty to the Malory family.

The Present is a sweet book. Telling the tales of many people in the Malory family. A nice Regency, that tells the tale of present and distant past generations. The secondary characters are well fleshed out also. A good read.

The Malory and Anderson families have gathered for Christmas and a mysterious gift appears that reveals family secrets and chaznges lives of the present day Malory's. Family trees for the Malory's and the Anderson's are a treat. Johanna spends quite a bit of time bringing the reader up to speed on the various Malory's/ I think this book would appeal more to a current fan rather than a new reader.

I love Johanna Lindsey but I was very disappointed with this book. For one it was to short and not enough time was spent with character development. The characters met, fell in love got married in what seemed like 20 pages. Definetly not this author's best effort especially since her fan's have to wait a year for a new book.

The present is about the marvelous Malory family. When they gather for Christmas they find the present. I won't say anymore than that, except that the present helps people in the household see things a lot clearer.

This book of ms. lindsey is really Enlightening...to the fact that this is about the ancestors of the lovable Malory clan. Although i like this a little bit less than the other Malory series. I just can't wait for the next installment and i hope this time it is going to be Jeremy's turn to find love !!!

I have to agree with other reviews, that this one just didn't quite meet my expectations for a JL novel. I found myself paying more attention to the Malory family members that we are already familiar with- such as James and Georginia, Tony, etc. If anything, it was nice to catch up on thier lives after the fact. I can also see where this can be a huge annoyance to anyone not familiar with the Malory novels. This book cannot be a stand-alone as any reader would get lost in the various characters.
