Johanna Lindsey is an amazing author. I absolutely love the Malorys. Anyone that loves reading historical romances definitely needs to read this one and let the Malorys sweep them away into a world of love, money and intrigue.

Roslynn was a Scottish heiress who went to London to find a husband because her cousin wanted to marry her for her fortune. Anthony offers to look into her prospects for marriage. He wants her as a mistress. He believes once she married, she'll come to him for "companionship."

She is later kidnapped by the same man she is running from. She manages to escape and goes to Anthony's home demanding to know which man is the best one to marry. He makes up lies about every one making her believe they all would make terrible husbands. She tells him she must return to Scotland and find someone there to marry her, something she should have done in the first place. He surprises himself and her by offering to marry her. he seduces her and they sleep together.

She accepts his offer of marriage and tells him she would like a child and for him to not make any promises to her to remain faithful because she doesn't believe he can keep it. Anthony along with his brother go to a tavern where they hope to find the man who wants her fortune. A tavern wench sits on him putting her scent on him and he immediately gives her to his brother. When he returns home, Roslynn notices the woman's perfume on him and believes he was unfaithful.

He later finds her cousin and beats the crap out of him. Roslynn still believes he doesn''t care about her and tells him once she is with child, she will no longer share his bed. This angers and hurts him and he treats her poorly, which is understandable and later the two realize they care about each other more than thought.

I really liked Anthony, he was sweet and caring. You could tell he really cared a lot about Roslynn. However Roslynn irritated me. She repeatedly hurt him and I was surprised he could forgive all she had put him through.

Tender Rebel by Johanna Lindsey proved to be a most enjoyable read. This result is hardly surprising as this author has been a favourite of mine for a long time. I’m not however, going to write another rather gushy review about the merits of Ms Lindsey, I want to see if I can pull this thing apart and evaluate the novel critically (all without giving away any spoilers).

As romance novels go, and particularly those by JL, there was not much about Tender Rebel, that made it stand out from others in this genre. It had all the essential elements, a rakish hero that enjoys compromising the heroine’s equilibrium as well as risking her reputation, an element of danger, a smidgen of mystery and of course a great love that is in doubt of being fulfilled.

As good as this story was, I would have liked to have seen (read) more about the danger that necessitated Roslynn (our intrepid Scottish heroine) to get married; and less of what turned out to be two very easy escapes from the clutches of a vile relative who had his sights set on her inheritance. Roslynn was nearly kidnapped, twice! One attempted abduction was arguably successful and yet each time, she got away, a little too easily and with very little consequence - all without any help from the hero, Anthony Malory (WTF??). With the exception of his marrying the lass (and the odd romp ‘tween the sheets) there was hardly a point to his existence in the story. Even his search for the nefarious cousin responsible for causing the calamity was ill conceived and added little to the story apart from extending the romantic angst between himself and his bride... It also served to help set up the plot for next book in the series (more on this shortly).

Which brings me to the point of the romantic misunderstanding that occurred between Roslynn and Anthony. For me, the confusion and angst between the designated love interests dragged on a little bit too much. It was not overly believable and was intermingled with sexual encounters that seemed more directed towards propelling the story along than satiating actual carnal urges. Then suddenly, after a relatively inconsequential offering of evidence, the conflict was resolved and the tale was all but told.

Tender Rebel is part of the Malory series. I generally don’t buy into romantic trilogies where each book sees a family of siblings one by one fall foul of cupids arrow. My thinking is that by the time the next book is written, I’ve moved on... especially when it involves secondary characters. I’ve also always found that the little bits of information each successive book gives about those characters you’re already familiar with, is unsatisfying and a little bit skewed from the way I remember them. I normally steer clear of them, and if I do pick up one by accident I usually stop at the one book. This story however, alluded to other romantic liaison’s that I’m quite sure will be part of the series and I do find myself a little bit intrigued. I just might have to go out and read the rest of them now.

I might just sulk about that. Damn author’s angling for repeat sales, manipulating their audience and cementing their brand. It’s diabolical... and... effective?

This book, which is the second in the Malory series, is one of my all time favourites. Anthony Malory is a great leading man. He's funny, charming, bold and a fantastic fighter (in more than one sense of the word) when needed. Rosylnn is a fiery tempered Scot. She's got courage, spunk and knows how to hold her own against a rake like Tony. Both characters are so stubborn, that at some points you just wanna shake 'em but I like how they work through it. I am happy that both can admit they're wrong.

This story also shows some more of the Malory family and actually has my favourite little book joiners that some authors do... when the secondary characters are drawn to each other and seem to be having a sub story going on behind the scenes of the current story... be forewarned. If you haven't read the first book in this series, there are quite a few spoilers in this one, about that story. I am off to re-read another favourite book of mine. The third Malory Series! Gentle Rogue.

For those who have read the first Malory book, Love Only Once, and fell in love with Uncle Tony, then you'd surely be delighted with this book, which tells the downfall of Regina's most favorite uncle.

Across the border at the Scottish Highlands, Lady Roslynn Chadwick has recently lost her beloved grandfather and has now been left a fortune so obscene that she finds herself on the run from her cousin, Cameron, who intends to get his hands on her money by forcing her to marry him. She seeks shelter from her childhood friend in London, Lady Frances Grenfell, whose help she's also enlisted in finding her a suitable husband so that she may fulfill the promise she's made to her grandfather. And so she makes her debut to the haute ton where she soon meets one of London's most notorious rakehell.

On the night that Regina finds herself without an escort to one of the balls she's attending, Anthony, being the overprotective uncle that he is, reluctantly escorts her. But when Roslynn inadvertently comes to his hiding corner out in the garden, his rakish senses went on overdrive and for the first time in many years, he finds himself venturing into the ballroom in pursuit of her. And when Regina realizes this, she decides to play matchmaker.

Anthony is your typical rake - sexy, unnerving, and oh-so-masculine. Roslynn is a feisty Scot who puts him in his place. The way Anthony 'helps' her find a husband made me laugh. I liked the part when he lied to her about her prospective husbands in order to discourage her. The way he exaggerated all their supposed unsuitability was fun to read. His seduction of her makes for an exciting read too, along with the competition that his brother James provides. The verbal sparring between him and James, and Regina's husband Nicholas, makes for an entertaining read as well.

Just like the first Malory novel, Tender Rebel is a fun, light-hearted read. Read this and see how a sheltered Scottish millionairess tames one of London's rakes. You won't be disappointed.

Johanna Lindsey is a great writer, and it shows in this second installment in her Malory Family series. She has a way of engaging you with the characters in the book, that you just want to know more about them, be it the main characters or the secondary ones. The story keeps you entertained, and Anthony the hero makes you get a bit flushed, even when he is supposed to be teaching Roslynn the heroine a lesson. I just loved him ! The reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I did not love her, she was fine the first half of the book not so much the second half, to me she was a bit irritating, otherwise it's a great book that I highly recommend, especially so you can start on the 3rd book, Gentle Rogue that's James story my favorite. Did I mention it's my second time reading it.

The second in Ms. Lindsey's Malory Family series is, quite possibly, the best. _Tender Rebel_ is the story of Anthony Malory (you'll remember him from _Love Only Once_), possibly London's most notorious rake, and the Scottish beauty who tames him.

Roslynn Chadwick has spent most of her 25 years sequestered at her grandfather's home in the Scottish Highlands. She's had little time for the life of a debutante, thus the reason she's managed to stay unwed at such an advanced age (in that time, of course, it was unthinkable for a woman to reach 25 without having been married at least once). Now her grandfather has died, leaving his vast empire in her care and her with the promise to marry quickly to keep that wealth away from her scheming cousin Geordie. With Geordie on her heels, Roslynn escapes to London, hoping to enter society and find a suitable husband.

Anthony Malory is perfectly happy with his rakehell life until the day he sees Roslynn sneaking out of a ballroom to escape the amorous advances of a throng of suitors. From that moment on, though he's even loath to admit the reason to himself, he does everything within his power to convince Roslynn that none of the men she's considering for marriage will suit her at all. He's settled it in his mind that she'll be his, and he won't back down until he's accomplished his goal.

If you're familiar with the Malorys (and you really should read the first book in the series, _Love Only Once_, before attempting this one) you'll be more than pleased with Anthony's story. Roslynn is the perfect match for Anthony -- bold, independent and just jealous enough to keep someone with his reputation in line.

Unlike many of the other reviewers, I feel that Ms. Lindsey was extremely true to Tony's character. He reacted just the way I'd imagined he would when the day finally came that he fell in love. The plot was engaging, the humor refreshing as always, and the love story was tempered with just enough angst to make it believable.

Once you're done with this book, be sure to look up the next in the series, _Gentle Rogue_, for the story of Tony's older brother James. That story picks up during this one and ties both of the books together beautifully.

Anthony of "Tender Rebel" is absolutely delicious. A "connoisseur of women," Anthony is a gorgeous, wonderfully charming rake who spends the entire book trying to win the heroine's love (which he doesn't realize he has). He is one of those characters you could imagine as real: an (extraordinarily handsome) regular guy with wicked wit, a penchant for the gym, and lots of buddies to get drunk and have fun with. He's not a knight scaling castle walls. He's not a prince or swashbuckling pirate. He's not even out for revenge. He's actually the kind of guy you could run into on the street...which makes you oh-so wistful, wanting him for your very own.

Anthony first appeared as Regina's adorably angry rakehell uncle in "Love Only Once," stealing the show in the first of the fantastic Malory Family series. "Tender Rebel" is the second of seven books (as of 2004). I love "Tender Rebel," which is bursting with wit, passion, and lovable characters. Both Anthony and Roslynn are made for each other - the "confirmed bachelor" and Scottish beauty have eyes for no one else. Yet Roslynn, terrified of Anthony's scandalous reputation, refuses to fall in love with him. Too bad for Anthony, who must struggle to win her over.

Roslynn has other problems besides having the most desirable man in London lusting after her. The strong-willed heiress must get herself married NOW before her fortune-hunting cousin forces her into matrimony. She agrees to let Anthony advise her on who to marry. Big mistake, since he wants her for himself.

Add to the mix Anthony's many family members (especially retired pirate James and his rowdy son Jeremy), a quaint Scottish brogue, and a rather sensual use for a chair, and you have a delightful tale of love and marriage in "Tender Rebel."

Plus, as an added bonus, "Tender Rebel" sets-up James' high-seas romance in "Gentle Rogue," the third in the Malory Family series.

All in all, "Tender Rebel" is a most wonderful read. Just remember to read "Love Only Once" first, so you get to meet Anthony before you read about his seductive romance in "Tender Rebel."

Set in 1818 London. Rosalynn Chadwick, Scottish beauty and rich heiress flees Scotland and her fortune hunting cousin, Geordie Cameron, who is out to get his hands on her money by forcing her into marriage. Rosalynn decides to enter London society in order to find a suitable husband who will protect her from the unwanted attentions of Geordie.
During her second ball, whilst trying to escape from the persistent but clumsy Lord Bradley, Rosalynn disappears into the garden and runs straight into Lord Anthony Malory, a most handsome black haired, blue eyed rakehell. "...and she was staring at him with a new look, obvious fascination, and he was glad that women found him appealing to the senses." However, Rosalynn had been warned before about rakes and "He was one of them, one of the `not to be considered'."
I was looking forward to Anthony's story after reading about him in Love Only Once. As with the previous book, I found this book to be a run of the mill regency romp. I did find that Rosalynn spent too much time of the novel being jealous and angry at Anthony but then where would the fun be without the antagonism? You'll enjoy the book anyway if you are a JL fan like myself.
Don't miss James' story in Gentle Rogue, the next in the series.

First off, here is the series in sequence: 1. Love Only Once 2. Tender Rebel 3. Gentle Rogue 4. The Magic of You 5. Say You Love Me 6. The Present: The Malory Holiday Novel
Because Anthony (and James) are my two favorite uncles in LOVE ONLY ONCE, I was so excited to read this 2nd book of the series. I couldn't wait to find out who would be the lucky lady to sweep Anthony off his feet and what his story would be, I was not disappointed. The story line, twist and secondary characters truly made a big effect. The usual spice of the Malory Family especially the updates of Regina and Nicholas thoroughly entertained me. The reason why I didn't rate this book a 5 stars was cuz in my opinion, Anthony fell in love too quickly. It's just a teeny weeny unsatisfaction... His actions were abrupt and uncool considering he is London's biggest rake. I guess I expected more of him, i just wasn't convince... its was all too soon for me. Roslynn wasn't a bad heroine, she was level headed, kind hearted and witty but perhaps my mistake was that i compare her to Regina who is my favorite of all Malory. I decided to finish reading the whole series before i write the reviews so i can compare it all. Love Only Once & The gentle Rogue is my favorite of all 6 in the series. However, this book is still a great read. Despite that small niggel mentioned above, I still recommend this book to anyone especially those who started reading the Malory series.

I did not think anything could be better than Nicholas and Regan but then there is Tony and Ros - they are absolutely an unbelievable couple. What humor, what tempers they both spend so much time trying to outthink and manipulate each other - but when they just let each other feel they are a sizzling couple. Anthony Malory might be one of my favorite historical rakes. Obviously his looks sound devine and his humor and just the way he thinks and acts are so sexy. Ros is so perfect for him. He needed a feisty gal and this Scottish lass it so perfect. The story is filled with ups and downs mostly because of Ros and her insane condiditons she keeps putting on their marriage and how humoriously and not so humoriously Anthony deals with them. This family is definetely one of the most compelling and interesting of historical romance. To really appreciate it try to read it in order because then each book builds on the others and you will truly be able to enjoy each one to the fullest. Better allow about 5 or 6 days because once you start you will not be able to stop!!

I adored Reggie's rakehell uncle in "Love Only Once" and could not imagine who would be able to capture his heart... But Lindsey accomplished the impossible with Roslynn! The balcony scene when they first meet is so precious, and the conservatory scene so sensual, I can't stop coming back to read it again and again. PS. "The Present" - The tale of the black-haired, cobalt-blue-eyed "gypsy" grandmother of the Malory clan and the long-awaited love story of the ever-serious elder Jason are wonderful. PLUS it brings back those two lovable uncles, Tony & James just in time for Christmas! A great present! Thank You Lindsey! I Love the Malory's and PRAY there are more to come! What about Edward's story or Jeremy?! And Reggie/Regan's matching-making plans for the Anderson Brothers?!

Johanna Lindsey has written lots of books based around the Malory family but this is one of the earlier books featuring Tony (Anthony), the fourth brother in age after Jason, Edward and James. Tony is a confirmed rake who notices Lady Roslynn Chadwick, a Scottish woman who has arrived in London, and sets out to charm her. Unfortunately for him Roslynn is looking for marriage - and only that - as she is trying to escape a potential forced marriage for her fortune from one of her Scottish relatives. In the end Tony marries her to rescue her from this problem (although he's hardly doing it for unselfish reasons) and although Roslynn accepts she insists that he continues to have a mistress - she is sure that he won't remain faithful to her so would rather know that he is definitely unfaithful than always worry.

I think it's this part of the book that I didn't like. Sometimes the "Big Misunderstanding" you seem to need in most romance books is a turn-off and in this case it is. Equally, although Anthony is described as stunningly attractive (of course!) his actual nature doesn't seem very appealing to me - he lies to Roslynn all the time to get his way, purposely tries to compromise her (mostly successfully) and generally moves his way through the book thinking pretty much only of himself. Until he decides he loves Roslynn, of course.

This is one of Johanna Lindsey's earlier books and it shows in the interactions between the characters; books written more recently tend to have the hero more sympathetic, understanding and less self-centred which fit far better with my modern reader's wishes. Still there's nothing intrinsically WRONG with this book, it just didn't work for me.

Historical details are patchy and the language is Regency mixed with American, as one expects from these sorts of authors. As one also often expects, we have the obligatory Scottish characters who speak in a broad Scottish dialect. It seems strange that there are so many Scottish people in American-authored Regencies - I suspect this is something to do with ancestors from Scotland or something. Hint to American reads - Brits don't find the Scottish accent particularly attractive so it doesn't work as a plot device if you want to sell loads of your books in England!

I actually didn't find this book very romantic - the interactions between the two characters were lust rather than romance. I much preferred Lindsey's book "Say you love me" which was the story of Derek, son of Jason, which seemed to have more love and tenderness than this book. If you've not read either and want to give one a go, try that one rather than this, I think it would be less disappointing.

Anthony is the youngest Mallory brother and one of London's biggest rakes. Scottish born Roslynn flees to London to escape her greedy cousin when her grandfather leaves her his entire fortune. Now Roslynn is desparate to find a husband so her cousin will leave her in peace. Anthony realizing his feelings for her decides to fill that role, but is stunned by the conditions Roslynn wants to put on their marriage. She wants him. That is undeniable, but she is terrified to give him her heart. This book is one of Lindsey's best. Anthony is magnetic and held my heart. Roslynn is nervous and unsure, but a very likable character. You cheer them on and you read their story and renew your acquaintance with the whole Mallory family.

This is a great continuation of the series. I loved getting to know Tony and having him find the beguiling Ros. This was a great story of romance, action, and heartache set in a regency era that not all are familiar with (the rakes of polite society). I love this breathe of fresh air into a genre that can quickly become stagnant. I can't wait to read the next in the series and learn more about James or Captain Hawke.

After reading the 6th installment of the Malory's "A Loving Scoundrel", I was inspired to re-read the entire series. There are a lot of talented authors out there in this genre with interesting tales to tell, but Johanna Lindsey's Malory clan is a genuine classic.

Roz and Anthony's story is no exception. It was even better the second time around. The story is interesting and the love genuine...even if Roz's mistrust of our hero does drag out a bit! There is no need to go into a long synopsis of this story, as it just needs to be read and enjoyed.

Ms. Lindsey has a great knack for consistently bringing all the well-loved members of the family into each book. As the reader, you really feel involved in the lives of each and every Malory. It's also wonderful the way the author sets the reader up for the next installment "Gentle Rogue" and makes the avid romance fan need to begin book 3 as soon as the last page of number 2 is finished.

... but in the end, I really disliked the heroine. And Anthony didn't really grow on me either.
I don't think there is anything to recommend Anthony - except of course for his good looks and his skills as a lover. But apart from that? He is an arrogant, selfish bastard. He doesn't do anything useful with his time - or his life - but prances around seducing women, gambling and drinking. He knows Roslyn desperately needs a husband, and knows that he won't marry her, but is still trying to ruin hewr every time they run into each other. That she 'can't resist him' is not an excuse. I really really disliked him. Towards the end he redeemed himself a bit, but by then Roslyn became a complete shrew. I was all so stupid. But what do I expect from a 'big missunderstanding' story. Reasonable heroes would obviously be too much to expect.

Sequel to the first Malory novel- Love Only Once. The story is heart warming, definitely not to be miss by Lindsey's fans and those who dearly loved the Malory. Better than before, this story revolves Anthnoy Malory, the uncle to Regina Eden and Roslynn Chadwick, a Scottish heiress. A whirlwind of instant attraction and bold romance between both of them will ties them in a stormy marriage. With Roslynn's little trust on her own heart, she defies Anthony even after the marriage. Thier marriage was definitely having lots of ups and downs, and doses of adventures before both knew that their heart was stolen by the other. Definitely a keep for the Malory fans!

CAUTION SPOILERS:
I didn't like Roslynn holding a grudge for so long. Also, I didn't like Anthony not defending himself. He could have provided witnesses to Roslynn about the barmaid coming to him and his refusal of the barmaid. Roslynn and Anthony should have talked openly instead of fighting for several weeks. I did like the way Anthony beat up and lied to Geordi to get him to leave Roslynn alone.

Sexual content: not evaluated. I read this book before I began counting sex scenes and describing the language. As I recall, it was probably mild. Setting: 1818 England. Copyright: 1988. Genre: regency romance.

i really enjoyed this book, maybe because i am in love with the main character, anthony malory. he is so sweet and patience. the only complaint is i wish thier was more actual love parts in the story, not about the mistrust and anger between the two main characters. this is my 8th book i read by JL and so far all the books have the two main characters in the book fighting and hating each other till the end, just once i would like to see love between the two and something else they must overcome, but i contiunue to read these books, never giving up hope because you never....! other then that it is a great story and i really like how JL intercept two story (this one and Gentle Rogue) into the same story but from different points of view. i hope you enjoy this book.

I Hated the Narration of this (cassette) story, I will never buy another narrated story again, by this woman. She absolutly ruined the story for me (what I actually listened to. I couldn't stand 5 min. of this story.) She gave me a headache because she talked entirely TOO FAST, she had NO emotion what so ever, I couldn't tell when she was finished with one character and on to another. Uterley disapointed to say the least. I should of bought the book, now its too late. I have read Johanna Lindsey's books faithfully, I assumed the cassette would be good for travel...WRONG. I will continue to buy Johanna's story's by the book only.

OMG!!! I still have 20% left out of the book...:((((( but just feel the need to write about my disappointment. The first 50% was so great! absolutely stunning story plot! 5 stars! but after that point the heroine just transformed herself in a obnoxious jealous possessive wife!!! I CANNOT STAND HER ANYMORE! It is such a pity :((( I loved so much Anthony and really hoped he would get a great story plot. But now I have only tears of disappointment. I just do not want to hear anymore about this Rosalyne girl. She is not a Scot...she is a whining baby! Scottish women a tough! and they fight for their marriage! but this stupid heroine is just behaving like a spoiled brat! Bleah.

Extract from the plot: Rosalyn: "Ah, God, why hadn't she listened to Nettie? Why was she always so self-centered, never considering anyone else's feelings but her own? "

Exactly! a heroine which is not even to be called ca heroine!

This is the story Of Roslynn Chadwick and Anthony (Tony) Malory. Roslynn is a proud Scot and Tony is an arrogant English nobleman. When he meets her, he vows she will be his. When they marry, everything seems to be going happily ever after, untill Rosylnn thinks Tony cheated on her. James Malory, ( hero of the third book, Gentle Rogue) helps his brother and his proud Scottish bride fall back into love. This book is full of all the things I love about Johanna Lindsey. Love, Fueding, And Inticate Families.

I love Anthony, especially when he and James get together. Their witty banters and declarations of love is enough to leave me rolling on the floor. Still, on his own, Anthony loses some of his luster and Roslynn is just too bland. This was a nice little story and I enjoyed it, but it did not have enough passion to sustain my interest. I'm falling more and more in love with Jeremy. Can't wait until his own story.

This is for all you Johanna Lindsey fans! What's up with all the 5 star reviews for this book? I took your advice (via the store.com)and decided to try a few books by Ms. Lindsey. Hoo boy, was I ever disappointed.
Tender Rebel was the first of Ms. Lindsey's books I tried. I couldn't even get 1/4 of the way through it. It's like that old saying "It only takes one sip of wine to know if it's a good bottle"(or not). I came to the conclusion that perhaps this just wasn't one of her better books and so I attempted to read a few more. Sadly, I came away with the same opinion of all three: they're not very good. There just isn't enough depth to the characters or the story lines. In fact as I attempted to read on I kept saying to myself "Oh how CORNY!"
I am a huge fan of Kathleen Woodiwiss and Bertrice Small (in my opinion the queens of the romance genre)and after reading their books it is really difficult to understand the enormous popularity of Ms. Lindsey's books.
May I suggest: "The Flame and the Flower", "The Elusive Flame", "Ashes in the Wind", and "The Wolf and the Dove" all by Kathleen Woodiwiss
and
"Skye O'Malley", "Adora" and "Unconquered" all by Bertrice Small

This book has the best hero that Johanna Lindsey has ever written about: Anthony Malory. I love it when James and him get together, but Anthony alone makes my blood boil. I think Anthony's gentle but bold seduction of Roslynn is the best part of the book. And of course, who can forget the lesson he teaches her in "the chair?" It's also funny the way Ros keeps wondering why Tony married her: was it for her money or simply because he wanted her? The answer to that question certainly keeps Ros and the reader on the edge of their senses. All in all, Ms. Lindsey has proven once again why she is my favorite romance writer.

This is not my favorite Malory but definitely in the top three. I read them the first time out of order. James Malory's story comes next but I read it first. I must say that I preferred it that that way. Anthony Malory is such a rascal I believe you will love it either way. Try not to fall in love with all the Malory's as you follow Rosalyn's own weak attempts to resist.

Lady Chadwick sealed her own fate with these few words! What can one expect from a rake. Tall, dark and handsom. That's Anthony Malory, Tony to his intimates. Roslyn doesn't stand a chance! She is lost to him in the first 47 pages! I was lost to him in "Love Only Once".

Okay... This story lacke a bit for me. First, Roslynn was really self centered and was hard to like, and have empathy for. Anthony was pretty predictable, and was an okay hero. I found myself not being able to fully picture scenes. While the story was okay, it lacked in the telling of the story. After 2 Malory novels, on to a different author. Maybe I'll come back to this family, but I need to read some better stories first.

I liked the book but it just seemed like Ros could have had a little more self respect than getting busy at a ball and she hadn't really known Anthony that long. If she could have also had a little more spunk to her to match Anthony's wit, it would have been nice too. In the end, not a bad read but it seems like Johanna is losing her enticement instincts in her novels. We'll see on the next book.
