Review:The first few chapters had me choosing something else to read as a brain sweep so that I'd be able to sleep! Later chapters were less frightening, or I had toughened up, and I could read as I wanted to - voraciously. It's well-written, brilliantly titled, accessible to the layman and puts the human back into doctor/surgeon. Read more

Review:A non-fiction book that compels like a novel. The best book I've read about the patient experience. More than other physician-turned-patient narratives Dr Awdish offers a perspective on both roles that is part advocacy, part empathy and part spiritual inspiration. A must read for both health care professionals and patients (which means all of us). Read more
Review:This is one of the best works of historical fiction I have ever read. I am a huge fan of novels that both explore an historical character, and provide a compelling story at the same time. I was wondering how a novel about Hamilton would fare when placed up against the musical, and I think that while it is hard to imagine anything with the sheer flair of Lin-Manuel's masterpiece, it is fair to say that I actually found the characters deeper, more interesting, and in the end more satisfying than I... Review:I read this book in (almost) one sitting over a Thanksgiving weekend. Revisiting these beloved books of my childhood and finding out what had happened to the "real" Laura throughout her long life was fascinating. The story of her life and work is awe-inspiring. She was able to take the darkness and bitterness all of us face in our adult lives and redeem it into core values of honesty, integrity, and thankfulness. Reading about Laura's life in the context of American history is fascinating. A gre... Read more
Review:I felt it meandered along, not necessarily the writers fault, but because I have been a loyal fan of his cracking good stories based on faction, the life Mr Forsyth has led was almost an anticlimax. I am certain he has one or two good stories left in him and I will definitely look forward to purchasing them but unfortunately for me this was not one of them. Read more
Review:He was one of a kind. Not sure there will ever be another Jimbo. An easy read that brings back many memories of players I watched growing up. A very careful bio book that reveals a softer side not before seen when it comes to love, family, and how important the sport of tennis is to him. If you want to know Jimmy better than you previously did and hear the highs and lows in his life, get The Outsider now. Read more
Review:The recipient loved it! I read most of it before I had to give it up for a Christmas present, it features Yogi's best gems, plus some backstory on the context, which was really neat. A great gift for fans of old-school baseball and the crazy men who played it. Read more
Review:This writer has a powerful way of telling a story that instantly captures your attention and takes you there, as if the tale was unraveling in front of you in real time. I learned so much and fell in love with the islands and its people. Read more
