Review:AMERICAN WOLF is a fascinating study of the wolves introduced into Yellowstone.
What was so interesting to me was the recounting of their social structure. How much they were like extended families, with members going in and out of favor. There are sad moments, of course. We are talking about nature. But so many more great moments, like when the author connects the dots and shows how the introduction of wolves was actually good for bears and beavers and certainly flora.

Review:This is a compendium of essays about the pioneers in various fields, and people that he otherwise admires. They include the pioneers in aviation, exploration, bridge construction (The Brooklyn Bridge), and a man who is fighting the giant coal companies in Appalachia. AS usual, his writing is fluid and simple but exquisite. Read more
Review:Very well done and informative for anyone over 30 or 40. Has lots of insight into 'the business' and some thought generating information on different aspects of the Narco trade including sound logic for legalization of cannabis. Not sure I agree with doing so, but the argument has compelling elements. Good read to keep a sense of what is going on in a world that is different from mine specially if you have teens or kids in their 20's. Read more
Review:I thoroughly loved this book and have now just finished her second book, Comfort me with Apples. She writes so that you feel you could me there with her and experience what she is describing.
What really struck me as I read this book is that this was a generation that went off, supported themselves AND lived their ideals for a better world. But they supported themselves, didn't want or need hand outs from parents or the government. This is such a contrast to many of today's 20-somethings. ... Read more
Review:He not only did great historical research, he tried to understand the importance of male and female balance in the universe from nomadic perspective. It is not easy task for anyone who is outlander and try to explain it. But he really did! In order to understand a certain culture very well you willing to go really deep into it and "taste" it with your human basic senses; looking, eating, smelling, listening, and touching. He did it all. I really appreciate his effort to complete the missing chap... Read more
Review:LOVED this book. I highly recommend this to anyone who considers themselves a fan of Sara Bareilles. Her writing in this book is as moving as her lyrics. I laughed and I cried and I'm sure you will too. Read more
Review:In sharing their story, Rachel Scott's mom and dad each tell of hearing about the school shooting, arriving at the designated meeting place where parents were to be reconnected to the children who were being bussed away from the school, and of the terrible sinking feeling that washed over them as the last bus rolled away and their daughter had not been delivered to them. My heart was torn as I imagined the sorrow they must have felt that day, but the focus of the book quickly turns to the beauty... Read more
Review:Very detailed and mesmerizing read. I was waiting for someone to write a book
about those poor young prostitutes that were murdered and left to rot in the
dunes off Jones Beach on Long Island. We needed to know about them and their
lives and their deaths. Reads like a detective novel. Great book. Read more
Review:This story of Cassie Bernall will shock you. It's hard to believe that someone would kill a person because they believe in God, that Cassie changed her ways just a few years before she got shot, and she got shot by the same kind of people she used to be. Cassie Bernall's mother tell the shocking true story of her daughters last years of her life before she got shot at Colombine High School. It was hard for me to belive at first that a Cassie was almost just like the killers in the Colombine s... Read more
Review:I know Brooks knew the Killers personally, I don't dispute his claims at all, But the general consensus of evidence seems to be that Eric & Dylan did what they did for "Apocolyptic fame" more then revenge.
I wish brooks would do a follow up explaining why he feels this way, but the book itself is very good & gives you a insiders prospective. Read more
