A Gaza Doctor's Journey on the Road to Peace and Human Dignity
A Gaza Doctor's Journey on the Road to Peace and Human Dignity

Review:The book was terrific. Why did they send me two copies. They only charged me for one. I will give my extra copy to a Jewish person who does not belive the Palestenians are mistreated. I dare you to read this book without sheddng a tear. I have been to Israel 4 times. Israel will always be in my heart and soul, but when I think they are Wrong I will let them know--My beloved Israel. YOU are WRONG, and being stubborn like the Taurus your zodiac sign you were born under. This situation is not m... Read more

The Weight of Ink
The Weight of Ink

Review:First, the title is so a propos! I have no Jewish roots, so I was surprised that this story was so compelling. The obvious research necessary to write about the world of European Jews in the 1'660's was fascinating. To think that knowledge, writing during that period was reserved only for men is mind boggling! Here is where we meet young intellectual scribe, Ester, juxtaposed with the aging historian Helen in modern day London. Their male counterparts were the blind aging rabbi and Aron, a ... Read more

and the King's Mother - The Women of the Cousins' War
and the King's Mother - The Women of the Cousins' War

Review:After reading all of Philippa Gregory's books about the cousin's war, at first I was disappointed that this book didn't read like her novels. Instead it
was more like reading a history book. As one who is interested in this subject I found this book informative as well as entertaining. The bibliography shows the intensive research which she as well as the other authors engaged in writing this book. Read more

A True Story of an American Tragedy - The Circus Fire
A True Story of an American Tragedy - The Circus Fire

Review:I purchased the audible edition of this book. The reader was really good. The circus fire is such an interesting and sad event. What runs throughout the story is the thought that this was the CIRCUS. People were there to have fun and forget the war for an hour or so.
I have read several books on this fire, and this one is the best. It is well written, and is never boring. If you buy this one, be sure to have a box of tissues handy! Read more

The Incredible Story of Green Beret Sergeant Roy Benavidez's Heroic Mission to Rescue a Special Forces Team Caught Behind Enemy Lines
The Incredible Story of Green Beret Sergeant Roy Benavidez's Heroic Mission to Rescue a Special Forces Team Caught Behind Enemy Lines

Review:Eric Blehm does it again! After "The Only Thing Worth Dying For" and "Fearless" one might think Mr. Blehm would miss a beat with his new book "Legend." He doesn't! Another great story, another great book. Real life heroes come alive once again. Couldn't recommend it more! Read more

Think Like An Elite Warrior to Lead and Succeed - The Way of the SEAL
Think Like An Elite Warrior to Lead and Succeed - The Way of the SEAL

Review:This book is largely New Age mumbo jumbo such as guided imagery and eastern meditation. Don't waste your time with such nonsense. If you want to learn how to be a man forget the magical thinking and go to the source. The Measure of a Man by Gene Getz will get you started. Read more

Twenty Years in a Desert Jail (Oprah's Book Club)
Twenty Years in a Desert Jail (Oprah's Book Club)

Review:Malika Oufkir's childhood was one of luxury and indulgence as the informally adopted daughter of King Muhammed V of Morocco and companion to Princess Amina. That life was gone in an instant when Malika's father, General Oufkir, was implicated in an abortive coup against the regime. The General was summarily shot; Oufkir's wife and six children -- the eldest, 19-year old Malika, and the youngest a baby only three - were rounded up, placed under house arrest and then dispatched without legal reco... The True Story of a Very Young Prisoner of Auschwitz
The True Story of a Very Young Prisoner of Auschwitz

Review:I found this book to be very well written and quite informative. The horrors of WWII and the Holocaust are never "fun" reading, but I do believe we need to know history if we don't want to repeat it. This largely first hand account of one of the youngest survivors of Auschwitz was very interesting not only for the information specifically about life in the concentration camp but also about the aftermath of WWII and the difficulties encountered then. I find it interesting also to know what bec... Read more

The Authoritative History of the War for the Holy Land
The Authoritative History of the War for the Holy Land

Review:Long but good review of the crusade era that seems to be used by some to make legitimate the anger of some Muslum groups toward Western civilization of today. It also explains how the concept of jihad developed and was revived to become a major movement by radical Muslums today. Read more

The Battle of the Bulge and the Epic Story of WWII's Most Decorated Platoon
The Battle of the Bulge and the Epic Story of WWII's Most Decorated Platoon

Review:The Longest Winter tells the story of the Intelligence and Reconnaissance (I&R) Platoon, 394th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division. During the battle of the Bulge they held off the German offensive for a crucial (roughly) 24 hours. The story covers the US-based training, deployment, battle lead-up, battle, POW internment, liberation, and reunion. There is some personality interplay, as well. Has pictures and maps.

The history covered is a fascinating story, but this is only a me... Read more
