Review:This book was INCREDIBLE I had to read Chinese Cinderella for school and decided to read this book after and I am very glad I did. This book tugs at all your heart strings and really makes you think. I highly recommend reading this book. Read more
Review:Mr. Robbins explains a lot that I didn't understand as I went through the madness of Vietnam, first from the safety of my living room, then the uncomfortable waiting at Ft. Bragg as Saigon fell. To know that some men had the convictions to fight the war on their terms instead of the politics and bureaucracy makes me wish I could have known him and his fellow airmen. Thank you, sir, for your service. Read more
Review:Excellent book by eye witness Tim Reitermann. I used to think Jim Jones was just crazy, but this book points out the evil in this man from a very early age. If you are at all interested in the phenomenon of The People's Temple, THIS is the definitive work. Read it. Read more
Review:This is a wonderful combination of inspirational story and immensely talented writer. The second half of the book takes it to the next level, by proiving a reflection on the events and how they fit into the complex story of humanity. Read more
Review:When Michael Bishop decides to explore Nashville history and stories, he walks into the Nashville archives building and (surprisingly) is allowed to explore the 1963 records from the office of the former chief of police. When he opens the first box he is greeted by two brown recluse spiders quietly guarding the secrets within. I am not sure if Mr. Bishop intended for these little poisonous spinners to be a metaphoric/foreshadowing literary device for what is to follow in the book. But, by the en... Read more
Review:I have read books on both the Nuremburg trials and the role of the doctors in the Nazi period, but this book gives an entirely different perspective- that of court reporter. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Read more
Review:The amazing story of the Orphan Trains is usually a lost portion of American History. I've read several books about the Orphan Trains and found this man's story to be excellent. I have loaned it to several friends that were clueless about this endeavor, and they were shocked that this has remained something of a 'shameful' secret for so long. I highly recommend this book. Review:In an age in which everything is dominated by intellectual work, the smarter people are doing better than the less smart. Surprise, and it looks like genes play a HUGE ROLE in how smart one is. The Nazi's would have used these results of this study to support their efforts to breed a master race. But, let us not forget that America in the 30's was sterilizing imbeciles to stop the breeding of idiots! Smart kids are identified early, given better training, and they end up with better educatio... Read more
Review:This brilliant book was highly controversial when it came out, and for good reason. It calls into question much of what is generally accepted in mainstream, traditional Christianity--including the notion that Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected, and that he never married.
Beautifully written and incredibly well-researched, this is a must-read for any biblical scholar who is not afraid of alternate theories RE Jesus' life. A fascinating read, and it's obvious that Dan Brown's work ... Read more
Review:I enjoyed reading about notable Christians of the past, some I am familiar with and others not. I did, however, find my mind wandering as I was still reading the words. I wouldn't say I would recall very well what I read for the most part. Read more
