The Declassified True Story of the Horse Soldiers
The Declassified True Story of the Horse Soldiers

Review:Loved this book, saw the movie and although decent movie, as usual, the book was far superior. A great rundown on how the Army Special Forces soldiers undertook an extremely difficult, to say the least, mission. RECOMMENDED! Read more

Marine Sniper: 93 Confirmed Kills
Marine Sniper: 93 Confirmed Kills

Review:Charles Henderson must have had a difficult time weeding through years of information ,stories and documented deeds. The author presented the story in a technical but interesting way. Carlos was always a good man and an exceptional Marine. This book is an excellent biography and just a great story Read more

Twin Tragedies at Fairchild Air Force Base - Warnings Unheeded
Twin Tragedies at Fairchild Air Force Base - Warnings Unheeded

Review:It is surprising that a book about which you already know the outcome can still be so intriguing, but Warnings Unheeded is extremely so. The book was well written, highly detailed and extremely thoroughly researched. He brings to life stories that I had read about in the past, but never felt from the victim's point of view. I cannot imagine just how the author was able to organize all the different angles from so many that were affected, but he succeeded in doing so. I hope that the lessons wit... Read more

Uncovering the Secrets of the World's Happiest Country
Uncovering the Secrets of the World's Happiest Country

Review:I really enjoyed this book until the end when she criticized the US for not working to be diverse enough! I hate it when people who aren't US citizens try to impose their beliefs on this country. Why not fault Saudia Arabia for not being diverse enough? Why not any Latin American, Asian or African country? I'm also sure there are large areas of Great Britain and other European countries that do not have the mixture of religions and races that the US has. Otherwise, I enjoyed her thoughts on... Frank The Irishman Sheeran & Closing the Case on Jimmy Hoffa
Frank The Irishman Sheeran & Closing the Case on Jimmy Hoffa

Review:The Hoffa story seems to come back around every year or two, so my buddy recommended this book to me. At first, it came off as Sheeran trying to get his name in the spotlight one last time in this life, but as you continue to read there seems to be an element of truth to his story. It becomes more obvious that he is telling this tale for reasons other than fame. Whether you believe it or not is up to you at the end, but I for one think the Hoffa mystery is pretty much solved. The Westies: Inside New York's Irish Mob
The Westies: Inside New York's Irish Mob

Review:Historical read about Irish hooligan gangsters in hells kitchen through the ages. It was alright, I ultimately stopped reading about halfway through because I had a more interesting book to read. It's not so much written as first person fiction as almost like a third person historical text. I'm actually not sure what the breakdown of history/fiction is in this book. Read more

How a Generation of Swashbuckling Jews Carved Out an Empire in the New World in Their Quest for Treasure
How a Generation of Swashbuckling Jews Carved Out an Empire in the New World in Their Quest for Treasure

Review:The information contained in the book is very interesting and enlightening in terms of the history of early Jewish settlers in parts of the Caribbean (mostly Jamaica), but it does not discuss anything relating to swashbuckling pirates of what one expects from the movies. Read more

A History of the World in 100 Objects

One Woman's Dramatic Fight in Afghanistan and on the Home Front
One Woman's Dramatic Fight in Afghanistan and on the Home Front

Review:Having memories of growing up in Leander and knowing Major Jennings Hegar as a kid, I was excited to go on her journey of memoir to remember and learn about this woman who once was a girl we ALL knew to be the best in our class. Her author's note promised to show us how women in combat don't have to "shrink in fear when the bullets fly" and set the bar high for her book, but in the end the washout came for me in her inability to keep the flow of her important story at the forefront. I felt like ... Read more
