How Green Berets Waged an Unconventional War Against the Taliban to Win in Afghanistan's Deadly Pech Valley
How Green Berets Waged an Unconventional War Against the Taliban to Win in Afghanistan's Deadly Pech Valley

Review:Well written and descriptive of the environment in the Pech valley and the Green Berets "A" team responsibilities and results. But the story line drags without much action. More like a history book reading instead of action and adventure novel. Read more

Destroyer Action in the South Pacific - Condition Red
Destroyer Action in the South Pacific - Condition Red

Review:Excellent book. Well written in Naval terminology. As a NAVY brat I understood most of it. My father was onboard Carrier's fixing the shot up air craft. The USS Princeton was one of the Carrier's he was on. He never spoke of his time on board, so I love to read books such as this one to find out what it was really like. Thank you for the insight. Ralph G./ Read more

Empire of Cotton: A Global History
Empire of Cotton: A Global History

Review:Accessible, long term history of the cotton industry and how it changed the world we now live in. Fascinating.

My only gripe is the lack of comparisons to other contemporaneous industries to really show the importance of cotton in each time period.

A minor issue for an overwhelming fascinating book and history that my friends have all been hearing about for weeks. Read more

The Men of World War II - Eisenhower and His Boys
The Men of World War II - Eisenhower and His Boys

Review:Ambrose has a style of writing where the "history" tells the story. This book is no difference and I would highly recommend it (as all his other books).

You get a great walk-through of the war in Western Europe from the planning of the D-day to the VE-day. Read more

Modern Classics Goodbye To All That (Penguin Modern Classics)
Modern Classics Goodbye To All That (Penguin Modern Classics)

Review:I'm a history buff and have always been fascinated by the first World War. This book is a personal account by an intelligent man about his service in the British Army during that war. He includes many details about his family, his education and his training in the military that tell one a lot about the pre-war period. His account of life in the trenches is occasionally unforgettable.

It's a good read, too. Read more
