History
Review:Fareed Zakaria provides history and the insight needed to understand where we are and how we got here. Without that insight you cannot best understand where we are going. I believe he is spot on. It is time for us, Americans, to realize we are only a part of the whole. We are currently a big part of it but in the end it is the whole that matters. He is correct in that we failed by succeeding. The world learned what we wanted to teach them. We succeeded. Now they are our competition. If ... Read more
Review:Cultural and political history: those were essentially the realms that gripped me when I read and studied history, or so I thought. Delving into military history is a detour from my usual historical interests. You could (though you wouldn't!) say I prefer "girlie" history, or at least not the grim tales of weapons & attacks & killings. But the enormous casualties of world war two mean that including depressing military explanations for the evolution of the war add a level of understa... Read more
Review:The book is in excellent condition. This is a must read for anyone who is interested in the navel battle for Guadalcanal. A real eye opener on how the navy almost lost the battle due to failure of our navy to rely on advance technology the Japanese did not have. Book was received in the time promised. I love this book. Review:Defiance by Nechama Tec is a well researched, well documented look at the hitory of the Jewish people living in Western Belarus during the events leading up to and during World War II.
Painting a vivid picture of the chaos of war, the fight for survival and the plight of a people who were nearly wiped out by the germans during their occupation of Poland through the return of the russian army at the end of the war. A Compelling look at those who refused to set quietly await death.

Review:An interesting and informative story (ex. I never knew that British naval vessels carried mascots or that pre-WWII Chinese port cities were so international). But, as a dog breeder, I do think that the author tended to exaggerated Judy's instinctive actions/reactions by attributing them to more human-level motivation. Read more
Review:Proudly served - July 1968 to July 1969 in the Mobile Riverene Forces as a 50 Cal. Machine gunner (River Rat).
This book is excellent. It's gripping, it's accurate, and it's real. It is extremely difficult to describe/convey the horrors of combat through the written word. SGT Ed Eaton does that and he does it extremely well in 'Mekong Mud Dogs'.
Glad to add this to my library. A great read - Highly recommend this book.

Review:Too many secrets, too many lies. Comes closest to telling the real story of the Army of Northern Virginia. Take out the parts about the snake eaters of SOCOM and the best tale of the best of the Silent Warriors is almost there. Excellent. Read more
Review:While I knew our military trained and equipped dogs for military service, I never realized the extent of their training and the responsibilities placed on man's best friend to protect our people and search and apprehend the enemy. I learned so much about how dogs learn, how they are trained. I love this book! Read more
Review:Although a true account, it reads like a Spy thriller! Can't put it down type read! Especially interesting in that, it was actually the origination of "Mossad"! I bought copies for two other people & they agreed with my assessment. Read more
