Review:After reading the sample I was hooked. The characters were well developed and the plot worked for me. I honestly did not anticipate the end and what a surprise it was.
While not great literature it was the kind of book you want to sit by yourself and read from page one to the end. Read more
Review:I couldn't put this book down. Tropper writes with unbridled conviction which leaves you no choice but to become emotionally involved with each character. Tragic and refreshing - a combination rarely successful. Read more
Review:After reading "Water for Elephants" I was eager to read another book by Sara Gruen. She did not disappoint me. Her characters are memorable. The story is intriguing. A research project involving bonobos and sign language is destroyed by what seems to be animal rights activists. It turns out to be another group with a completely different agenda. The bonobos were the best part of the story for me, but the human characters were well developed also. Read more

Review:Although the Plague is not my favorite Camus, that honor belongs to The Stranger and The Rebel, it is nonetheless a great allegory for the grinding nature of life under occupation by a foreign dictatorial regime.
Just as Camus experienced first hand the way in which the Nazi occupation of France beat down the spirit of the French people, in The Plague he parallels that with the way in which an isidious disease can beat down the will of a city's people to live life.
Perhaps, the way in whic... Read more
Review:I like the characters, they kept me guessing good, bad, what WERE they going to do next!?
Interesting concept and Bridget and Sabrina are couple of ladies I'd love to know. Definitely going to follow this series. Read more
Review:This is part of a series. As with most series it leaves you expecting more resolution, maybe wanting to read more.. Not worth my time to pursue more of the series even though it was inventive and entertaining. Read more
Review:I was pleasantly surprised how many times I laughed out loud during the first half of this novel! There is some fine black comedy. At first. During the second half of the novel things are not so funny, in fact quite bleak. What seemed coldly humourous in Undine Spragg at first, slowly and steadily reveals the disturbed mind of the narcissistic sociopath, a full blown clinical case. Undine is downright frightening, and makes for a chilly, yet strangely delicious read. Once again, Warton's ... Read more
Review:An interesting tale of life inside a big brokerage house, where the strangest behaviors are normal… if you’re a big swinging dick. It’s a weird dip into a very different life, as the author acknowledges.
It’s half a memoir; the classes and story are told from his perspective, but he takes long asides to explain the politics and organization charts that drive the activity. It sounds like the whole organization underwent a tremendous transformation shortly before he arrived, changing from a... Read more
Review:This is a great book; this is the second book in the Scorpius Syndrome series written by Rebecca Zanetti. Before the Scorpius Syndrome tore through North America and nearly wiped out the population, Vivienne “Vinnie” Wellington was the FBI’s best profiler. The bacteria got her anyway. But she survived. She recovered. And when she woke up from a drug-nightmare of captivity, her trust in her fellow man had gone from shaky at best to nonexistent. Her mysterious rescuer wants to convince her he’s th...
