Review:As a former Drill Sergeant and retired Soldier I appreciate the humor in this book. To the civilian with no military background initial military training is serious business with hours of repetition and can be quite boring to a trained Soldir conducting the training. Review:I bought this book basically for the title. Wasn't expecting much. It is a fun book to read, but it is a little to thin. Although it has a lot of photos, it wasn't full color printed. So some of the good pictures got unclear when it printed black and white. Read more

Review:Ms. Birnbaum must have phoned this one in. The first Preppy Handbook was amusing. This sequel or update isn't worth the dynamite it would take to blow it up, and Ms Birnbaum's political opinions which permeate the content are as lame as her "Handbook." Review:Loved early Roth (Goodbye Columbus etc.) but he has been going straight downhill for several years. This misshapen thing is terrible -- not least because of the cardboard cutout cliche Vietnam veteran character. A beginning writer would cringe at stooping so low; from one of America's previously better novelists it is appalling. Not many groups left to pick on and be PC -- Nam vets and rednecks are the only two that come to mind -- but this think is fatally flawed and ugly. Read more
