Review:Purchased this for two friends having babies. Beware that this book devotes a chapter to “S#@T, I’m Pregant”, and has some very crude profanity sprinkled within the activity book-not a book for all mothers. I was very disappointed because the humor was definitely there and could have been just as funny without the language in big bold lettering with comic style additions. Such a shame and not appropriate. Read more
Review:Purchased this for an expecting friend. Love how it starts from the beginning of the couples relationship to the forming of the family and then going off into baby's first and second year. The organization of the book is great and it is super easy to fill out and create memories. I also like the fact that it is for mom AND dad not just mom to be. I do wish there was a little more on the background of couple, that way baby can read later on about their paren'ts story as well. Read more
Review:It maybe RMB has finally become financially comfortable enough to not work as hard at her books as in the past... maybe she is meeting new groups of people with her fame, maybe it's a combination of both or more. I'm not exactly sure, but this I do understand... Sour Puss is definitely not her best. It is too easy to figure out the plot just by reading the character introductions....Harry's character seems to wax and fawn over the Kluges and their social, financial and political views, and Ha... Review:This is a wonderful book for everyone. The mystery is intriguing and so are the characters. They all add their special brand of humor and vitality to the book. The animals are always a step ahead of the humans in finding out who the murderer is although they don't have time to figure it out themselves. The murderer slips near the end and you'll know who it is if you pay attention. Of course, if you read the other books before this one, you'll know who it is from the start. So, my advic... Read more
Review:This I first read at the suggestion of former Chicago cop and graduate English professor (of Chaucer) John McNally, with whom I also first read Dante in Italian--well, the Inferno. I taught Pale Fire a few times in modern lit courses, and it continued to delight. It's one of the few parodies of academic poets and their place in the modern university--hilarious, the academic introducer prof annoyed at sound intrusions while he writes his introduction.
The poet of Pale Fire is, as the title su... Read more
Review:A family consisting of a traveling salesman father who leaves for another woman, a mother who is dominating, a son who is a reasonably successful businessman, a daughter who becomes a doctor but has a confused and not very successful life and an odd brother who has always wanted to own a restaurant.
It is sad . amusing and well written. They try lots of things as a family and fail. Strange as the forgoing description, you will enjoy it. Read more
Review:Unfortunately, it’s become clear to me, having now read a dozen or so books in this genre, that if one truly appreciates the written word, in all of its wonderfully creative and literary forms, one is essentially looking, at best, a 70/30 chance of coming away disappointed. This work by Sanford, “Shockwave,” is also unfortunately one of them, so overridden with horribly vapid attempts at cavalier dialogue and banal machismo that it nearly sends this otherwise well thought out plot into oblivion.... Review:I like the Lucia Davenport character. His actions, his thoughts, his money(lol), his detective skills; gosh what else could I say about him!
His looks, His funny way of looking at things, his sex life. I like the way the plot builds and then it peaks. Good detective! Read more
Review:I started reading the Prey series not too long ago, started with book 1 and have been reading them in order. I have enjoyed them because they are quick reads. I enjoyed this one the most so far. It was different and open ended. Read more
Review:Whether you've followed "Hey Ladies" and Caroline and Michelle from the early days at The Toast or you are just now joining, you are ahead for so many laughs. They've captured the conversation and make you feel like you are a fly on the wall sneaking a peak at the computer screen. So happy it's now a book. It's definitely one worthy of it's own email thread! Read more
