Humor & Satire
Review:Terry Pratchett is at his best in this book. As a long time Terry Pratchett fan I enjoy the word pictures he creates. His characters are strong and I believe I would enjoy meeting them in this part of the multiverse. This story sees Sam, Sybil and young Sam holidaying in the countryside at the old Ramkin Estate and even Wilikins comes along for the ride. Sam has to deal with honest country folk, goblins and whirling maids then return home in time to save Fred from a mysterious fate. Read more
Review:I've read about a dozen of the Discworld books and this is my least favorite. I had come to expect great books from Terry Pratchett and this one was disappointing. It was OK, but it was lacking much of the humor of the other books. Read more
Review:Although I gave "Going Postal" 5 stars, I found myself wishing that Amazon allowed a rating of "6", so much did I enjoy this latest entry in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. I will admit that I had found "The Monstrous Regiment" less appealing than many of the earlier volumes, so I approached "Going Postal" with just a little concern. But no worries! This newest book easily ranks with the best of what has come before.
"Going Postal" returns us once again to Ankn-Morpork, but is not ... Read more
Review:If this is going to be the last discworld book then I am glad it went out like this. While not the most well written, all the humor is there that you would want and it's just a nice story proper ending for everyone involved. Read more
Review:Much to be imagined (which isn't exactly my idea of good writing) with large swaths of time untidily swept into a sentence. The narrative is good, but I'm left with so many strings started late (namely the 'voices') started late and left empty in the end... There was some of this in his first three, but not so glaring.
I've enjoyed the series and DO NOT regret the purchase... But with a slate as wonderfully painted as the broken empire, why settle? Read more
Review:Even though it was an easy read, it was heartfelt and inspiring. I am from Virginia, have family living in Waynesboro and am very familiar with the area. For those who enjoyed "Marley and Me", they will also love this book. Read more
Review:I found "Love Finds You" book one hard to get into. The dialogue seemed a bit stilted and I could not connect with the heroine, Jen. I found it hard to identify with her since her lifestyle was so different from mine. If she hadn't been so stuck-up when dealing with "country folk" I may have found it easier. Still, I was soon connected with Aunt Gabby, Annie and Zach and their characters and interactions kept me reading. The plot seemed to improve as the book progressed but perhaps that's b... Read more
Review:I'm speechless. I wasn't expecting what I got out of this book. I thought this was going to be a fun read, but it was much more. This book has me all in my feelings. I can't wait for the next book. I need to know how this plays out. Read more
Review:I purchased this novel for my recent Caribbean vacation and found it enjoyable. It was not "deep" in any way, but the novels and relationships I could certainly relate to with my own group of friends. Found it an entertaining beach read. Read more
Review:OMFG!!!! This book is so good!!!!! My favorite part is when the ending turns out to be a dream and Edwin is a human not a vampire. My other favorite part is when the wolves told the boy to tell Jezbell that they caught her skinny-dipping and that they'll be watching her. 5 stars baby!!! Read more
