Humor & Satire
Review:Nothing Girl is a funny, in fact, hilarious book to read. I kept on laughing out loud all the way through this book. My husband was giving me looks when I would burst out laughing. I loved it and will read more of Jodi Taylor's books. Read more
Review:I wanted to review this book just after I finished it, but I could not. The Wind Up Bird Chronicle is just too much, and I mean that in the best way. Still, I really want to try and capture my feelings for this text (now six weeks past).
Murakami's story is actually dead simple: the main character's (Toru Okada) wife (Kumiko) leaves him and he spends the remainder of the book trying to get her back. At its core, this is just a love story. But this simple narrative is really a vehicle to d... Read more
Review:Both my mother and I laughed several times reading this. This has an amusing premise and the descriptions of small town Texas is very accurate.
This is a fun read although if one is quite devout or devoid of humor I would avoid it. I'm anxiously awaiting book 5. Read more
Review:Oscar Wilde must have been quite the character in his day. This play about mistaken identity is not only laugh out loud funny but cutting at the same time. He skewers the upper class with his observations about their behaviour. No wonder it has been done in countless theaters over the years and been made into at least one film that I can think of. Review:I wish this book was longer!
Seriously, by the time I got to the end I felt like I'd only read half a book. It took me two days to read (I had a hard time putting it down) so that might explain why it felt like it wasn't enough.
I enjoyed being able to read the story from Dave's, John's, and Amy's points of view, as all three are unreliable narrators in their own way (Dave and John for the obvious reasons we're used to, Amy due to her inability to see certain things because she do... Read more
Review:This is exactly my can of tuna - filthy, funny, violent contemporary paranormal fiction. Now I can go back to reading picture books for a while.

Review:I'll keep this short and sweet. This book is laugh out loud funny. It's crude, vulgar, obscene, and it'll have you turning pages long into the night laughing like an idiot. Shane, with his dry sarcasm and complete apathy towards life, is one of my new favorite anti-heroes. This book is HIGHLY recommended!! Read more
Review:I am a true blue Marian Keyes fan. The Walsh women are a tough gang but they would be a hoot to hang out with. In this novel, Anna Walsh goes through some harrowing experiences like most of us will at some point in our lives. Keyes description of these emotions made me gasp at some points and at others I had to stop and have a good cry. She does not waste any words on melodrama but the choice words are those that make the reader feel what Anna is feeling. It is a wonderful, empathethic journe... Read more
Review:My mother-in-law is a big fan of Margaret Atwood and she passed this book along to me. We don't have the same taste in books, so I was a little wary at first. I shouldn't have been! This is a great story for anyone that likes to read interesting, intriguing stories.
Atwood starts you off in the present and introduces you to the four main characters of the story. Then you are taken back in the past to lean of each characters history. Then the book comes back to the present. It is not... Read more
Review:Love these books! This is the third one that I have read.
At first I thought that the person that recommended the first one was crazy. Yes, crazy fun!
Hard to explain, but fast moving, unpredictable, crazy fun.... Read more
