Audiobook review: Red Night is a paranormal romance story in which a private investigator, Samantha, stumbles upon a paranormal event only to become an unwilling subject of fascination for a vampire. An age old vendetta placed Sam in trouble but a Hunter & a pair of Vampires are there to help out. Life is not easy for anyone and danger lurks in many shapes. Oh, and the love triangle will leave you rooting for the vampire or the hunter. The narrator did a nice job. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A nice twist on your typical vampire romance story. The story is told from the perspective of a strong, spunky female character, Samantha. She is a P.I. working on mundane cases like cheating spouses, and has revealed her real occupation to only one of her friends. The rest are convinced she is a telemarketer. One evening, tracking the spouse of a client she accidentally stumbles into the world of the paranormal. Suddenly, she is aware of vampires, werewolves, fallen angels and other unexpected species. A startlingly handsome, but nasty vampire named Zachariah is after her, Sam meets Adam, another hot vampire and her handsome neighbor Gabe, a vampire hunter. Adam and Gabe team up to protect Sam.and things start to heat up as Sam is attracted to her heroes. The book is a fun read and I can't wait for the next volume.

Samantha is wonderful, well developed, main character. She is strong, charming, smart, independent woman and I want her to be my BFF.
She is PI with nose for adventure and trouble.
Sam keeps people at a safe distance - only two people know what she does for living.
What happens when her privacy is disturbed by mysterious (and sooo hot) Adam who doesn't know what personal space is?

Her world is turned upside down - vampires are real.

By the way I would like to read Samantha's books: How to Stay Perpetually Single and Vampire Survival Guide - they would be hilarious.

Entertaining, fast paced and well written book that you just can't put down. It grabs you from start. Advice: finish everything you have to do, eat, grab your favorite drink then start to read.

Book two, please?

One of my favorite quotes: "... My very nature wants to take advantage of you in every... way...possible. Our actions are the only differentiating quality separating man from beast. We are all savage at our core. Your inner beast needed only wine to come out,"he says, glaring at me."Sometime, when you're sober, I'd like to meet your beast."

I would recommend this book to everyone who loves vampires, strong female heroine, suspense and fun.

First book of Vampire Files Trilogy. This storyline is good, and I enjoyed the book. I was confused by the Blurb because the way it reads, you think the main vampire is one guy but it’s actually another. I could just be reading it wrong. It would have been a little more enjoyable had there been more than just the one POV. Despite those issues, for me, I will definitely be reading more from this Trilogy because the storyline was good with tons of possibilities.

Vampire stories are not my normal genre, but when given the chance to read Red Night in advance, I figured it was worth a shot. R. K. Close has done a marvelous job with her first novel. The charactors are rich and well developed, especially the heroine Samantha. She is strong yet vulnerable which is what most women want to be and her actions made me want to follow her where ever she needed to go. The story was fast paced making it hard to put it down and when I wasn't reading, I was left daydreaming about what was going to happen next. While the charactors were well developed, I believe the surroundings could have been better utilized to add richness and texture to the story. However, this is only book one of three, so I am sure the story will continue to develop in a true and exciting manner. Great job, R. K. Close!

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. This is a WOW book. Very creative story. Loved it! There are many vampire books out there that are so similar. However, this one is very different. Can you say love triangle? The narrator did an awesome job with the characters and their personalities. She is a great storyteller. Couldn't put it down!!!! (or in my case, shut it off)

WOW ...Red Night had me hooked right from the very beginning. First off, the 2 main heroes make this reader wish she could climb right into the story... Secondly, Red Night is not just a vampire novel, although it represents the genre exceptionally well. There is romance but it doesn't override the elements of action, suspense and the peek at history through the backgrounds of the characters. Red Night earned its 5 stars by content and by making me go right to the kindle store to buy the next one!

Recommended by a book club on Facebook because I mentioned loving vampires. Great writing and I loved the story. It's funny and there is clear chemistry between the characters without the raunchiness of dirty, sweaty sex and the like. No sex in this book at all which I really liked. I'm not a big reader, but to my surprise, I went through this book in one day. I just couldn't put it down. I'm now going to buy the second in the series. Enjoy!

No spoiler alerts, I loved this book and couldn't put it down, I enjoyed reading how Sam the P.I. was clueless in the beginning of the book to the paranormal, but throughout the book she was learning about it, and as soon as she thought she had it, there was a twist.. this book was awesome and full of lots of adventures and I couldn't put it down, I started to read the next book and then I remembered I forgot to write a review for this book... that is how much I am intrigued into this series....

Red Night feeds the fantasy of meeting a tall, dark, handsome, and definitely dangerous, stranger. In the void left by Twilight, Red Night takes us on the journey of beautifully oblivious Samantha as she is unceremoniously tossed into the world of the supernatural.

Sam is an unassuming private detective until one of her jobs puts her directly in the path, and sights, of Adam, a mysterious stranger with penetrating blue eyes. Her inexplicable attraction to Adam, who is undeniably dangerous, seems to be mutual as Adam is drawn to learn more about Sam.

The story develops into delicious love triangle from which Sam discovers some things about herself that send her spiraling deeper into the world of things that go bump in the night. Gabe’s entrance throws a tantalizing complication into Adam’s plans for Sam and leads readers to plant their flags firmly in either Team Adam or Team Gabe’s camp.

Red Night is a fun read with tons of sexual tension that teeters on the edge of satisfaction, keeping the pages turning! R.K. Close’s character development is engaging, leaving readers wanting to know what will happen in the next installment of the series. I can’t wait to find out what’s next for Sam, Adam, and Gabe!

Red Night caught my attention at the beginning and carried my interest all the way through it. You take a good-looking woman and a couple of very “hot” looking males, and add real danger and suspense to the mix. That can be, and is, a very explosive combination! RK Close kept me turning the pages and really caring about the main characters. That, to me, is a great writer and a great story! I really am looking forward to Book Two of this Vampire Files Trilogy, so that I can continue the journey I started with Book One. I truly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it!!

I read 25-30 books a month and paranormal stories are some of my favorite when they are well written. I enjoyed this book, although there is not a lot of romance involved and the story only partially ends. The cast of characters were interesting and so was the story.

I first discovered and read this story on Wattpad it's not the urban fantasy I read I honestly find them very slow and boring but Red Night was different the story Revolves around young woman named Samantha Lewis who's works as P. I under an alias name when she works on a case that involves a married man having an affair instead seeing the "Married man." with the woman he having an affair with Samantha sees Adam a vampire and sees something that should never be seen as soon Adam becomes attached to Sam a murderous enemy of his becomes Samantha next target a story with twists and turns within every chapter I highly recommend Red night for people who loves dark mysteries, humor and Adventure

Absolutely perfect start to this trilogy. I was shocked to find out this was her first book to be published. The characters have so much depth and the story draws you in so much that you might as well just cancel any plans you have for the rest of the day because I assure you that you will not be able to put it down. I'm looking forward to many great things from this author. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Everyone has secrets, including the heroine Samantha Chase. Sam poses as a telemarketer to her friends but in real life, she is a private detective. Investigating what appears to be a run of the mill cheating spouse case, Sam stumbles into more secrets than she bargained for. Vampires are real. And that is just the opening chapter! What follows is an enjoyable mixture of romance, intrigue and suspense, everything you want to find in a good book. Vera Loy

Good story, good pacing nice tension between the lead characters. The story gets right to the action from the get go. The writing is easily accessible and without too much monologuing. I would definitely recommend this series if you are looking for paranormal romance set in modern setting.

RK Close, thank you so much for introducing me to the exhilarating paranormal-romance of this Vampire world through your novel, Red Night!

I was so captivated by everything that your fun and engaging private investigator, Samantha Chase, had to say about her exciting adventures with 'Blue Eyes,' the handsome and mysterious Vampire, Adam Blackwell!

I love how it all started with ' "Gotcha!" *click* "Oh crap!" "What the hell?" ' Sam had no idea that she just invited Adam into her life the moment that he heard the 'click' from her camera taking a picture of him supposedly kissing the neck of the mistress of her client's husband. I can just imagine those glowing blue eyes gazing at Sam and I was hooked from that point on! I just had to stay and enjoy their intense and developing relationship!

Oh, Sam and Adam...What are you going to be up to in the next two novels of this enticing Vampire Files Trilogy? I need to indulge in more of your thrilling escapades!

I would wholeheartedly recommend this novel to lovers of the Vampire romance genre!

I liked this book, although I prefer a more adult paranormal romance. However, Samantha the heroine is quite annoying. Her character rec'd alot of eye-rolling. First, she's a 26 yr old virgin. Please. (Insert eyeroll) It would've been more "believable" to make her 19 or 20. Plus, she was completely wishy-washy. Gabe or Adam, Adam or Gabe? I don't mind the concept, just the character's POV. She felt "guilty" just for literally sleeping in the same bed as Adam. Really? (Insert eyeroll) While she is portrayed as a modern day women, with her own detective agency, she acts like a silly teenager with a high school crush. She is sexually stunted. Annoying. (Insert eyeroll) I prefer my heroines strong & sexually confident, but since this is a YA book, others may prefer that. I wish it the description would've specified YA, but it has potential. Adam & Gabe are yummy! Sam, needs to put on her Victoria Secrets big girl thongs & lose her virginity. I don't think I would continue with the series if she doesn't mature.

Red Night is a thrilling romantic suspense by new author, RK Close. I really liked the female PI angle and the main character, Sam, who was both compelling and absorbing. But the real clincher for me was the sexy blue eyed vampire, Adam. Enigmatic and charming, I could read him to the ends of the earth. I liked how the romantic elements of the story didn't overpower the plot. The villain was a worthy adversary and the twists and turns kept me on the edge of the my seat until the very end. I look forward to the sequel! Hard to believe this is Ms Close's first novel.

If you love a good vampire story, an independent heroine, and a bit of spice and romance, then this is the book for you. Enter Sam, a spunky, witty woman who never believed in the supernatural until a PI case she is working opens her eyes to a world she only thought existed in the movies. I am definitely looking forward to the next book. My advice is to give this book a chance and enjoy the ride. I know certainly did!

I do not normally read vampire romances but this one is good. Really good. Edgy, enjoyable with realistic characters and some fantastic action. I also like the fact that there is a trilogy. I invest in my characters, I want to read more. Why only four stars. Well, I would have liked a bit more of the fantasy action and less romance. Sounds funny, but that's me. Others will probably think differenty.

I adored this story from start to finish! Samantha Chase is a wonderful leading lady and I instantly felt a connection to her. She is smart, witty and independent - and she has a very cool job. I love how the story mixes the supernatural elements with her day job as a P.I. When I first found this story on Wattpad, I was completely hooked and read it from the first chapter to the last in a matter of days. It has the perfect mix of action, drama and of course there is a love interest or two ;) I do also enjoy the pace of the story, it's moving along quickly but at the same time as a reader it gives you a chance to enjoy those key scenes without feeling rushed through.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an entertaining story with a mixture of humor, suspense, action and of course some romance.

In my honest opinion this book was amazing. I first found it on wattpad and I didn't think it would turn out to be a good book. One day out of Boredom, I opened red night and I swear I never put it down for the rest of that week. *I read pretty fast so yeah*. Anyway, I love Samantha and Adam. I ship them ALL the way! It was a few times that I pictured Sam and Jacob together but I do truly believe Adam and Sam are good as they are. I honestly can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Paranormal romance is not my usual section in the library, but I received an advance copy of Red Night and decided to expand my horizons. What a fun book! With engaging characters and a quick pace, the story kept me involved and reading up into the night. I think any reader interested in romance, vampires, or just a fun read will enjoy this book. I look forward to the next in the series!

Well done RK Close ! Red Night was such an excellent read. I loved the characters. The story itself flowed perfectly. Most authors just create a story that keeps the reader occupied. But there are a few that can create a story and a work of art. RK Close is an amazing author and has this incredible talent. You can guarantee I will be anxiously awaiting her next book!

Fantastic book! The lead female character is a really strong, likeable character and seeing the world through the eyes of a PI is definitely a unique viewpoint. The alluring male lead is without doubt mysterious and intriguing, leaving you turning the pages to find out more. Twists and turns are all along the way and each chapter is left on a cliffhanger, making you want to continue devouring it. This will definitely be one hell of a trilogy to follow!

RK Close manages to bring the supernatural world into the real world, and made it believable. A great story for vampire lovers, and the rest of the trilogy will be just as awesome! Loved every minute of it. In fact I read it twice!

Sam is a strong, independent and curious private investigator that always seems to find herself in a predicament. Both main male characters (Gabe and Adam) are out-of-this-world attractive, but I still fell in love with the sexy, intense, and mysterious Adam. This story is suspenseful, thrilling, seductive and humorous. For most of this story I was sitting on the edge of my seat, even gasping out loud. Red Night is definitely the kind of story that sucks you in from page one and leaves you desperately needing more. Can't wait for the sequel!

Though I have read and love fantasy books (like Harry Potter) I haven't done romance vampire books and wasn't sure if I would feel old while reading this but as soon as I started reading I got hooked in and couldn't put it down. RK Close wastes no time getting the action going and the reader invested in the characters and story as it unfolds. All of the characters are multi dimensional and the story continuously moves forward while bringing up new questions and leaving you wondering what will happen next. I loved the way the vampires were developed and described, their battle between the beast in what they are and the men they used to be, their abilities and strength and the depth in their history. The romance was a large part of the plot pulling the characters together and pushing them apart, it gets pretty steamy in parts but still teen appropriate, imo. Overall by the time I was done I couldn't wait to get started on RedMoon, the 2nd part of the series, I would recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure with some unexpected twists.

This was an entertaining read. Similar to True Blood-part fae heroine, vampire, and hunter instead of part fae heroine, vampire and shifter. Heroine in danger from rival vampire. The characters have personality and several subtle differences keep it interesting. Kept my interest enough to move to #2.

I've never been an avid reader of vampire fantasies, but I love them as films. I think Red Night would make a great movie! I love that the heroine, Sam, is strong and independent, but also very feminine. She's a girl that men love to chase and women want to emulate. Adam, the Vampire/love interest is hands-down the most masculine leading-vampire I've come across. I think readers will find themselves daydreaming about running into their own blue-eyed paranormal!

I love the Red night trilogy books, RK Close builds up the suspense to the point where i didn't want to put it down for a moment, there was a new twist and turn in every chapter. It is one of the best books i have read and I'm so excited to see what the future holds for the characters in the next novels. Overall i would recommend to everyone and i think you will all love it like i do. RK Close is a very talented author and i can't wait to read her other books.
