like I did. I have read ALL of KA's books now, but I put off reading the fantasy ones. I didn't think they would be as good as her others, or that I would like this style of book. I was so wrong! Everything she writes is awesome!

this wonderful tale of magic and mystery captured me from the first chapter until the last word in the book. I devoured this Kristen Ashley in one sitting!
Cannot say enough amazing things about this heart warming story about finding love with the most unusual people and the sacrifices that you are willing to make to take a chance on love.

If you want great books about vampires try Jeaniene Frost or J.R. Ward.

If you haven`t read any books by Kristen Ashley, start with the Rock Chick series.

The first time I started this book, I stopped at 20%. The premise was great -- a fabulous love story between the most powerful vampire and his concubine for whom he has waited 20 years. After a two month delay, I decided to start again.

The 20 years of waiting actually becomes the central problem in the book. Lucien first spotted Leah when she was 20. As a member of the elite Buchanan line of concubines,he was totally enthralled by her. We are led to believe that this powerful vampire male waited while Leah went through a series of relationships with human males in order to delay the time when she would have to attend a selection. (In this vampire world, a human female may not be chosen if she is in a relationship.)

Enter Leah, who at 40 years of age has the emotional intelligence and vocabulary of a 13 year old. If she were a 40 year old vampire, her immaturity might make sense. She is described as someone who was able to hold down a responsible job, yet once introduced into the vampire world is kicked out of training classes for texting and tossing spit balls. Really??

All I could think of was a rock chick gone bad. Lucien is a very interesting character with a lot of emotional depth and a very interesting background story. It would have been a great story if he had been paired with a heroine who was a better match. The fact that he thinks her immaturity is ADORABLE (overused) makes him much less appealing.

Quirkiness is great. Junior high behavior not so much.

I've read most of KA's books and this new book, which is the beginning to an exciting new trilogy, is another GREAT read!! Honestly, this author has ruined me for all others. I love her characters and their journeys, and I have found that lately, no others can compare!!

Most awesome of all her books. But even though this one series is by far my favorite, I love all her books. My only suggestion would be, complete a series then move on to another one. The suspension is killing me. LOL.

I'm truly surprised I didn't find any warnings in the one star reviews, but perhaps I missed it. The H is with OW and calls them the same "pet" name as the h. Then he goes back to be with the h and she can smell and "taste" the other woman? Uh, no. I'm getting a refund for all my unread KA books.

Here is a story about a vampire Lucien who has the hots for a mortal Leah. He wants to take her and she fights with him like crazy. I liked this story very much but I did not love it as I usually do with KA books. First he calls her pet and I really didn't like that. He also is constantly holding her/restraining her. It was a bit redundant. However, the book was HOT and these two definitely have chemistry.

it was a good read, quite hot. what i didn't like was the heroine who was forty but acting as if she were 18, and she was referred to in such a way in the book. I was suprised when her age was mentioned

*****Spoiler*****

I am very surprised that KA wrote this book. For the most part all of her H's are very alpha but this H truly was stomach turning. I really, really hated this guy. The only other KA H that I hate is the guy in Three Wishes that allowed the h to be slapped by his dad. I still can't get over that one. I mean what kind of man would allow that? Not surprisingly, this H had a lot in common with this one.

First off, the H unethically and illegally makes the h sign her life away to him by mind control even though she does not want to be with the H. Her family gives her no support and instead gives her a guilt trip. With limited choices, the h ends up being the H's concubines, which essentially is akin to a highly paid mistress. No matter how much the H argues differently, his treatment of her is so poor that a mistress would actually be a step up from a concubines. There were very little differences. The H was married to someone else, expected fidelity from the h but he was not expected to give her the same, she was put up in a nice house, she was expected to be available at his whim, he bought her expensive gifts, she was to behave as he wanted, etc. The financial compensation that the h receives is the most redeeming quality of this H. I completely missed the "sweet" that the h refers to. The H manipulates, controls, humiliates and sexually punishes the h continually throughout the book. I am not referring to the fun kind of punishment. I actually wondered how the h could stand this guy touching her after the second time he does it. His treatment of her was so bad that when the H almost kills the h by drinking too much blood, he actually blames the h saying, "it was your fault" because she was too excited. I know, I know...KA h's spine melts every time the H is near and they are usually all talk BUT really? To blame the h for being almost killed? Ridiculous. Is that like, you made me hit you? Ugh. How does that show that the H cares about the h or that he felt any remorse over physically hurting the h after she had trusted him after he promised he wouldn't loose control? There was no remorse after he hurt her with his sexual punishment either. Supposedly he felt bad but if the h would get a little mouthy then he would threated her with punishing her again. I crossed from dislike to hate with this H when he went to another woman. I don't care that he didn't complete a sexual act with the other woman. The fact that he had her naked and drinking from her was a huge betrayal to me. The fact that he went to the h right after was just horrible. This causes the h so much pain that she decides to give in finally breaking the h as was his goal. The only thing she asks in return is for the H not to call her "pet". "Pet" is not only too close to home but the h knew that was what he called the OW as well. I really pitied the h in that scene and I loathed the H when he did not even give her that to save some of her pride and allow her to heal. The real kicker of all of this was that after this happens, the h ends up apologizing to the H for saying mean things to him. Could not believe it. So basically, it would be ok to treat a person horribly (I'm including almost killing them here too) and then taking them shopping the next day to make amends for all that. Because the H gives her one day to do whatever he wants after sequestering her and buys her pretty things, he is no longer a selfish d-bag, now he was "sweet". As a female, I am beyond peeved to think that anyone would think that such placation would be acceptable means of making amends for the manner in which the H treated this h. I have so many issues with the way this h was treated I can go on and on. I was expecting the H to at least improve but d-bag to the end, he says things to really hurt the h towards the end of the story. What can I say? At least the d-bag is consistent. While the h is contemplating her next move she is attack and decides it is too much and leaves the H. The glimmer of hope that I had that the H would win me over here was completely decimated when he finds her and instead of having to prove to the h that he loves her, he focuses on the attack, sprinkles an "I love you" and panties off, all is well again. The H didn't even need to break a sweat. And despite the fact that the H and h are no longer in a paid-mistress-like relationship, in the end, the subservient role that the h would have to endure with him did not make for a HEA for me. I don't care how many shoes, houses, cars or shinny things this guy would buy. Being treated like a pet is not worth all the gold in the world. She would have been better off if she kept running and finding herself a hot guy that didn't need to feed his ego by humiliating her.

Clearly, I didn't enjoy this book. I will say that this author has some other great stories. The sequel to this book is much better if you want paranormal and so is Golden Dynasty. Both are much better than this one. The only reason I gave this book 2 stars in stead of just 1 is because despite my loathing for the H and the inequitable relationship that was romanced, this author once again develops her characters in an amazingly human manner which makes the readers emotionally invested in the outcome of their fictional existence.

It is hard to believe that this is the same author who wrote Golden Dynasty (which I ADORED). Lucien was one dimensional and Leah lacked any sophistication, especially for a heroine who was supposed to be 40 years old. The story dragged and I found myself skipping over the repetive "almost" sex scenes. Actually, repetition was the killer part for me. *spoilers* how many times was Leah going to dream the same dream? Make the same facial expression of wide eyes and parted lips? Or the same bloodletting? This story, or lack of was a real let down.

Ms Ashley is a very talented author but she, like any other author, needs an editor. This story just drags on and on and on, I've reached
72% and don't care anymore what happens. I liked Leah being 40 - at last! a heroine of let's say my 'age group' - but she is
more annoying than engaging and seemes somewhat stupid and an underarchiever, with no particular talents or interests.
Lucien is just plain creepy and cruel. If he's so wealthy he can do what he wants to one wonders why he doesn't live on some remote island where he can throw cars if so inclined.
The whole taming thing was bad enough but now I'm stuck at the part of all the bad dreams, not my idea of a fun time.

I generally liked the book although there were some things with which I had issues. As we all know, KA's strengths do not lie in world building. This continues with Sun. However, I do think that she did a better job here than she did with Golden Dynasty. What I do like about her world building is that she doesn't bog down the first few chapters with an information dump. She provides the details as they occur naturally in the story.

Lucian is a typical KA hero hyped up on steroids! Which is exactly how he should be when you put him into the context of the world that she built. He is a 800 plus year old vampire who just happens to be at the top of the vampire food chain in terms of strength, fighting ability, ruthlessness, etc. KA follows her forumla in making Lucian a big, jerky alphahole in the first half of the book. IMO, she does a great job of redeeming him without diminishing any of his alpha characteristics. I hate it when an author spends the first half of the book setting up the H's dominant alpha traits and then when redeeming him, turns him wimpy. Lucian does NOT undergo a personality transplant. He stays a dominant, possessive, protective, controlling vampire. Period. That's what he is and that fact is central to the story. Leah has to accept that he can't change who he is and that is what he is referring to in the whole book when he talks about "taming" her.

Leah. My feelings about Leah jumped all over the place. First, she annoyed me to no end with her excessively immature actions. And, her explanation to Lucien that she's not going to grow up until she's 90 just didn't cut it for me. I would have been okay with her retaining a child LIKE sense of humor. I was not okay with her being childISH and immature. What 40 year old woman do you know that throws spitballs and passes notes in class? I did like that she tried to stand up to him despite it being a completely one-sided battle. He used mind control to dictate her actions, mesmerized her, isolated her from family/friends, took away all resources that she could have used to run, and was strong enough to pick up a car. If Leah had tried to run under those circumstances it would have meant trying to leave on foot. How long do you think it would have taken Lucien to find her? About 10 minutes. Plus a vampire could make the bite orgasmically pleasurable to the "donor." The last half of the book had Leah finally gaining some maturity while retaining her personality. She understood that Lucien's character and personality were in a large part dictated by WHAT he was just as much as WHO.

*****Spoilers*****Spoilers*****Spoilers*****Spoilers*****

Don't say I didn't warn you!

As far as the 'did Lucian cheat?' question, I re-read the passage. It's pretty clear to me that he went to the feast intending ONLY to feed. When he was finished and was leaving, Kitty asked if that was all or something to that effect. For the first time he thinks about her as a person NOT just a meal on legs. This is due to Leah's influence. When he thought about how he was treating Kitty in that light, he felt sorry for her. That's when he turned back to her and removes her dress (and, he does get the appropriate male biological response to a naked female). Because you don't know until later what actually took place between Lucien and Kitty, the implication is that he cheated. The reader doesn't learn that he didn't until later in the book. When he discussed it with Leah he admitted that he was tempted. I not only don't have issues with this, but I think it is an example of how Lucian was in the process of changing the way he thought. The changes that Leah must make in order to accomodate Lucian are obvious. I think the changes Leah made in Lucien's outlook are more subtle. He was learning to think about and take into consideration, other's feelings.

I agree with everyone who was irritated with Lucian calling Leah "pet" especailly considering that was a name he used for Kitty. I didn't like that, at all. Sweetheart was better. Sweetling was perfect.

On the whole, I enjoyed Sun and will re-read it from time-to-time.

I really hate to say this cos I love my girl KA, but IMO, she should not write PNR. Granted this is the 1st book in this series. We all know that alot of times 1st books are hard to get through. Which I call "1st book syndrome" With the world building etc.. these things are often times slow and hard to get through. But what my problem was, well one of them, with this book is that 85% of this book was not really world building. It was being stuck in a nice house, on nice property with a cook, a childish 40 year old woman getting away with countless acts of defiance with an eight hundred and twenty two year old vampire. For lack of a better word, it was boring. There was nothing put on the pages that was gripping, emotional, heartfelt anything. It drove me nuts waiting for something to click and cause all of this suffering to be worth it. But Sadly this did not happen.

Now this isn't hard to figure out from my previous comment, but I did not like the lead h in this story, Leah. And even though she got a bit better during the last segments of this book, it was too little too late for me. Since majority of this book set her in a very unfavorable light.

Lucien:Very ALPHA of course. But for me nothing sexy, nothing compelling about him really. This is PNR. And with Lucien I am missing that underlining animalistic essence that is usually present amongst Alpha vampire males.

There is brief and when I say brief I mean very brief set up for the next book or books to this series. Alot of things that happen in the latter part of this story could have and should have been mentioned early on in the story. IMO, I think it would have helped in the set up of wanting me to come back for book 2, but it also would have made this story ALOT more interesting. Giving purpose to why we're even reading about Lucien & Leah in the first place.

I understand book 2 is to go into the world of Werewolves. I'm hoping KA does alot better on that front. But I am not certain yet if I will be reading the 2nd installment to this series.

So I can not in good faith say that I would recommend this read.
And I am really sick & sad that I can't say that about my girl KA's effort... So if you'll excuse me.

I haven't finished this ebook. It's an audio and it's awful, both the book and the narrator. I don't dislike books about vampires. I do dislike soft porn, or any porn. This book can't go one page without it. I can't finish it.

This story just made me angrier than I’ve ever been while reading a story. It’s disgusting and wrong on so very many levels. I found myself hates both characters for vastly different reasons. For Kristen Ashley it’s scary to think she’s okay with any woman being treated this way.

Until the Sun Falls from the Sky (The Three Series Book 1)
First the bad. A couple of areas that jump. Not a lot, but enough to notice. Also, a couple of typo/editing errors. I think I found 3 instances. Last negative for me is the beginning (areas in the 1st 20%) has some slow parts. This hindered me from getting into the story at the beginning and that is very unusual for a Kristen Ashley book.
This world is so different you constantly find yourself having to readjust your preconceived ideas and notions on many levels. Which caused me to have some interesting reactions to both Leah & Lucien, the main characters. While I wanted to smack them both upside the head, especially Lucien, I found myself VERY intrigued. Little by little you begin to understand why Lucien behaves the way he does.
There is an immense amount of angst, intrigue, and hot steamy romance. Some of the scenes could be considered shocking for their violence.
This is definitely an adult book.
And while it was a slow start for me, I ended up loving it.

Obviously this is different from many of the other KA ebooks I've read. And boy or bit I've read alot of them. But I love KA and I love vampires, so it's a win/win for me.

The story stressed me out. Because I got so frustrated with him. I just felt Leah was being played with. Then you find out he's waited for her for so long.. Then I called down. Then he's making her cry because he's trying to break her. Then I hated him. Then he did and said some of the things he did and said and then I loved him again. Then he says he isn't in love with her... hate. And this went on.. And on... And on. Very stressful.

But the story was just incredible. I loved Leah. She was spunky and passionate and funny. And their chemistry was off the charts. And of course I loved the ending. I can't wait to read the next book in this series to see where the story takes us.

"Yes, my pet. Tracking you. Marking you. Mine."

And I have FINALLY read a KA book! I've had this for a while but I've been nervous!! Everyones LOVES KA and I was so afraid of reading one of her books and not liking it lol!

And of course I freaking loved it!! And if I would ever learn my lesson and not read reviews before I read a book I would have been acquainted with Lucien much, much sooner!! There were things that worried me but not a single one of them bothered me in the slightest once I read it!!

Omg. Lucien and Leah are everything!! And I mean everything. They are the ULTIMATE definition of a love/hate relationship. They had me reaching to pull my hair out of my head more than a couple times but I loved every part of them, not always at the time ha! but by the end everything that they are is per perfect! I'm sure you've read the synopsis.
so Lucien = vampire.
Leah = Unwilling concubine.
Rules broken, a whole lot of frustration, a whole lot hotness and an equal amount of satisfying paranormal! It's so difficult to find a good paranormal book that you get paranormal and romance and you get that and everything more on this brilliant ride with Lucien, Leah and other characters!

Lucien was delicious gahhh!!! Let's be honest he was a jerk but a hot as eff one! He really knew how to get under Leah's skin. He was so alpha, so commanding and demanding. Did I mention he was hot? Ok so some things he done were down right frustrating- well they should be going by the other reviews... yes he definitely frustrated me but most of the time I loved how he was and I was left with a smirk on my face at how he handled thing and how he was in charge and didn't give a f--k.

"You're mine?"
"I didn't mean-"
"You're mine."
"Lucien-"
"All. F-ing. Mine."

Leah, oh my. What a feisty, stubborn and sassy heroine to match Lucien's strong, possessive and demanding personality. Complete opposites. And boy was she stubborn! sometimes she was stubborn to the point of frustration but then again she basically had to leave her life to become available 24/7 for a vampire so could you really blame a girl. When she wasn't being super stubborn and her sarcasm came out to play she was a hoot! She was pretty hilarious actually. Lucien got under her skin and she made it her mission to push all of his buttons.

"When I come to you, Leah, I want you to greet me."
"I'm sorry, Oh Great Master. Hello. How was your day?"

There was so much push and pull with these two. Emotions were high. There was hate, slip ups and vulnerability. There was everything that was happening between Lucien and Leah and then what was going on beyond them. The supporting characters were brilliant and I hope they get their own books. Kristen Ashley's style of writing is phenomenal it really is, the POV's and her attention to detail and still keeping the reader engaged and hooked. This was my first KA book and 100% won't be my last. Ive got a LOTTTTT of catching up to do lol!! If you love Romance books. If you love Alpha's and if you love paranormal then I don't know what you're waiting on. Read this book already ;-) one of my favorite Paranormal books and can't wait to read the others!

"This is our eternity."

I wasn't sure about this book at first and then fell in love with Lucien. These books are crazy long, but I love it. Nothing feels like wasted space or too much while reading them. There was slight backstory about her and him. The further into the book you go the more history you find out about both of them and I liked the way that progressed. Their relationship is rocky at first. The more you read the more you like Lucien. Leah didn't annoy me which is always a positive. I liked the establishment of the vampire society. It seemed real and realistic. I also wouldn't say there was a clear cut climax to the story. It all seemed to go about the same pace which I liked. The whole setup for this trilogy is really great which is really important to me. Lucien mentions a coule (literally probably twice) that he is a billionaire and I do hate that. All of these men cannot be billionaires that is just unrealistic! I got over it ver quickly though. I didn't really get what taming was and I wish there was more backstory on why he waited 20 years to get her. I found it hard to believe he would wait that long. There could have been more backstory on Leah, but it wasn't that big of a deal. If I could cut anything out it was the *scenes*. There wasn't a ton, but it felt like there might be a few too many if that makes sense.

I really can't say enough good things or anything bad. I just really loved it and you should check it out!

Holy crap! This book is one of the best vampire books I've ever read! I know Kristen Ashley is an amazing writer but previous to this I hadn't read anything paranormal from her so I was a bit dubious going in. I absolutely love paranormal romance but only if it's done really well, and Kristen Ashley did not let me down!
Leah Buchanan is from a renowned family of concubines to vampires. Her family have been servicing vampires for generations and her family in particular has a reputation of being very successful in keeping their vampires....satisfied, and for longer periods of time than these arrangements usually last. The book starts off with Leah attending her Selection, where she will be chosen by a vampire to become in service to for the next few years. Little does Leah know that one particular vampire has been waiting for Leah's Selection for year and he's determined to have her.
Lucien...sigh...he is one sexy vampire! He's very bossy, very alpha but every now and then he shows he has a sweet side. I fell hard for this bad ass vamp!
In a genre filled with vampire stories that can be similar Kristen Ashley succeeded in creating something totally original. I loved this story, it was exciting, gripping, at times sweet and other times funny and the characters, like all Kristen Ashley characters tend to be, we freaking awesome and totally loveable. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, I'm looking forwards to meeting the next couple!

I have always been a fan of this author and this is just one series that I have read many times. She blows it out of the park when it comes to paranormal. Lucien and Leah are amazing. The romance is typical KA and what we come to expect but she also brings a great dynamic and uniqueness to the genre. Actions romance, steam and mystery, this is one of those series that will build the underlying plot while stealing the hearts of readers. After this reread I can see while I loved it as much as I did the first few times I’ve read it. It’s one of those books that will never get old to me. 5 Stars #2OCCJD

4 Oh my Lucien Stars

I need this. I’ve been craving for a paranormal book and this is my first from KA. It had everything I wanted in a paranormal and KA read.

Alpha male Check

Strong and suborn Heroine Check

Hero chasing the Heroine Check

Crazy steamy scenes! Double Check

Leah is part of the Buchannan clan. She’s kind of like noble blood within the vampire world, even though she is human. In this world, humans are concubines for the vampires. So the vampires use the human to feed and in return the human is cared for financially.

Leah doesn’t want to be a concubine, but she is just making her debut. It’s kind of like when you come of age, you are ready to date, but in this case, she she’s finally single and she is requested to be at the selection (where vampires pick concubines).

Lucien is a very old vampire. He’s established and is kind of like a celebrity in the vampire world. He has taken notice of Leah and he wants her.

Even though Leah doesn’t want to be taken. So he mind-tricks her into being his concubine.

What worked for me is that when you get a paranormal read, there is this world you are introduced to. Sometimes there are a lot of facts and new things you need to learn, but with this one, there wasn’t much and I found myself enjoying this world then trying to figure out what’s going on.

I also loved the characters. I loved Lucien. Everyone knows KA writes some good alpha males. What made this one so different is that Lucien is a vampire so he speaks more refined. Most of KA males have the Southern drawl, not that there is anything wrong with that, my husband is southern, it’s just something different is good.

I liked Leah. She’s very headstrong and it worked for me. I like it when the Heroine makes the Hero work for it and oh boy there’s plenty of sexual tension to keep you interested.

Most of the book is about Lucien trying to get Leah to submit to him. I really liked the push and pull of the relationship. Of course there’s issues, like the council (kind of like the vampire police) and ex’s, like Lucien’s previous mates (like vampire wife). It’s just crazy, but fun and good.

If you love KA reads and want something a little different, then I recommend this one.

5 Smokin’ Hot, Alpha Stars!

The Review:
Wow, I loved this read!

Characters...
Leah Buchanan comes from a long line of concubines. Her family has been servicing the vampire world for centuries and she’s up next for selection. Leah, however, has tried her whole adult life to stay far away from the selection process but it seems someone was set on this year being her year.

Lucien has been waiting twenty years for Leah to be free to attend a selection so that he could claim her as his. He’s been watching, waiting, biding his time but this year, is the year he takes what he wants and doesn’t let anything get in his way. Including the willful, obstinate ways of Leah herself.

When these two come together, there’s struggle, misunderstandings, secrets, humor, chemistry and lots of mystery as these two find their way.

Thoughts...
This is my second time reading this book and I loved it just as much as I did the first time. Kristen Ashley has a very talented way with bringing out the absolute best in her characters through her writing. Her hero’s are courageous, sexy, dominant and are ready to fight for what they want. They may be a bit challenging when it comes to the opposite sex but thats what makes them so intriguing. Her heroines are always sexy, intelligent, savvy and girly girls without the prissiness I hate so much in ill written characters. They are strong, and they to fight for what they want. This book has all that and more.

I loved Leah. She was goofy but not in an irritating way and she was “real”. Her reactions to being claimed by Lucien were spot on. I mean, he’s a vampire and he wants to set her up like a mistress, use her as a happy meal and when he’s done, let her go. Or at least thats what she thinks in the beginning so she resists and puts up a good fight to keep her heart and herself intact both physically and emotionally. And when she finally lets go, its a beautiful fall to something incredibly sensual and fantastic.

I adored Lucien. That man was all alpha. Yes, he didn’t explain himself very well and yes, he messed up.. A LOT. But underneath it all, he wanted something he was, by law, not supposed to have. So he waited patiently, fought tooth and nail to have it and then did everything in his power to tame it. He loved Leah’s spirit and her personality. She went against everything concubines are supposed to represent and he care for her more because of it.

Watching these two fight their way to each other was so much fun. I enjoy the humor this author injects into her writing and this one made me laugh and grin many times. I also enjoyed the hot, steamy passion the mains have and their chemistry was undeniable.

Lets Talk Story, World Building and Plot...
Everything from the unique way of vampire society and rules, to the history thats revealed, to the overall plot that this trilogy will play out, was written to PERFECTION!

THIS.. This is how you write a fantastic paranormal with amazing characters, phenomenal world building, an intense and fantastic story and a plot that will keep you turning the pages well into the night. For the second time, I read all the way through, from beginning to end, without stopping.

Even knowing how it was going to turn out, I still couldn’t put it down!!

The Wrap Up:
I know I’ll read this one again and again. And I'm very excited to head into book two to see how this series continues. Once again, Kristen Ashley has blown me away! LOVE HER BOOKS!

Leah Buchanan's family has been in service to the vampires for centuries. Knowing this Leah still dreads the day that she must attend her Selection. Under familial pressure she attends her Selection unbeknownst to her she has already been "chosen". Lucien has been living by the Vampire Dominion laws for centuries but he is tired of living a life less than "full vampire". In order to take back what is rightfully his, he's been waiting and watching Leah Buchanan for decades waiting for her to be available. Lucien wants Leah....ALL of Leah, Lucien wants to Tame Leah even if that means he is hunted and killed for doing so.

What Lucien and Leah do not know is that they are part of a prophesy. A Prophecy including three couples that will change their way of life and save humanity.

To be honest I was hesitant about this series...but DUH! I didn't need to be...It's Kristen Ashley, she rocks everything she writes. She can write a bad ass alpha male rockin fangs like no bodies business! Lucien and Leah are an amazing couple and they make you laugh, cry, gasp with outrage, and everything in between. If you loved the Rock Chicks, Mystery Men, Colorado Mountain Men, or Chaos go ahead and grab this novel and sink your teeth into it...So far Kristen Ashley can do no wrong!

I have read almost all of KA's books and read this series in its entirety. I really liked the storyline and the impending war which sets up the other books. Unfortunately Lucian, the hero is a JERK throughout the story with very little redeeming moments. After treating the heroine deplorably he has a guilt trip, apologizes and then does it AGAIN! She is constantanly forgiving him and making excuses. Frankly, his emotionally cruelty was over the top. Why was he so intent in having her if he wanted to change her? Why risk humanity for a woman he wants to break and tame?
However, I'm glad I continued reading the series because the other books were far more enjoyable.

Leah Buchanan's family have been associated for over five hundred years with vampires. Leah had always known that one day she would receive an invitation for selection, so since she had been twenty years old she had made sure that she was always in a relationship, invitations we're not issued if you were. Having broken up a few weeks before with her latest boyfriend another in a long line of jerks. The thing she dreaded had happened. Leah is taken to the selection by her Mother, who is thrilled that the family tradition is going to continue with Leah.

Lucien is one of the most feared and respected vampires, he has been watching Leah for decades waiting his chance to have her attend a selection. What he does not realise is that he has totally underestimated the feelings that Leah arouses in him. He is not used to having his orders or word questioned, in all his many centuries he has never had a mortal like Leah, who marches to her own drum.

This is the first in a trilogy from KA, I was really looking forward to this, being a fan of her work already I thought I knew what to expect, little did I realise what a treat was in store for me. KA has excelled herself here. Lucien is a vampire but he is also the usual bossy but gentle alpha male we have all come to expect. Leah is beautiful and stubborn even when faced with a six foot five powerful vampire. So much happens in this story it is impossible to review without giving everything away. But I will say that KA's take on vampires is so new and fresh, okay so they still need blood, but the set up of how they live amongst humans, and their association with a few chosen families is very clever and innovative. There are also strict rules that affect vampires, enforced by the vampire dominion. This is full of action and romance. The passion and emotion between Lucien and Leah jumps off the page and the reader is drawn in and totally involved with the story as it unfolds. A truly wonderful read.

I first read this book back in early 2012 way back before I was reviewing, I've read it several times since and one time I did a token review which honestly wasn't very good, so seeing as I've just re-read it yet again I'll review it.
Lucien is a legend amongst vampires, he's over eight hundred years old and he's spectacular, tall and handsome with a presence that surrounds him.
Leah is forty and I really struggled with her age but more about that later, she comes from a long line of vampire concubines the most famous line in fact and she's been marked by Lucien.
He's waited twenty years for Leah to become available and he's taking no chances.
This is a slightly different vampire book in this vampires are born they mate with other vampires and produce children, they feed from their concubines.
I loved this book and I've always thought of it as a 5* book, the story and the whole setup is fabulous, Lucien is delicious but Leah...Leah was my only problem with this book and it came as a surprise because Kristen writes great female characters, it's one of her strengths but at times Leah acted like she was in kindergarten and I couldn't get my head around the fact that she's supposed to be forty. Now don't get me wrong I'm all for her spirit and stubbornness but spitballs and texting in class and the rest, you'll understand if you read this but even though I've read this more times than I can remember I never picture her as anyway near forty it just doesn't work for me.
The rest of the book is brilliant and builds up nicely for the next one 'With a Everything I Am'
I'm giving 4.5 stars, I'm taking off half a star for Leah because I still can't believe she was supposed to be forty.

Kristen Ashley is an exceptional writer. She is the Nora Roberts of her time. I can only recall one story, from her that I have read, that wasn't good. After all, she is only human, but I am sure that regardless of the length of her stories, I am guaranteed a ride and a whole new world of characters to love.

I, for one, don't mind change and with Lucien and Leah, that's all you get! Whether it be their history, present or future. These two are always pushing the envelope. Now, I know we are accustomed to the 20 year old virgin or outcast falling for the sexy decades old vamp, so let's give it up for the 40 year old, 20 year old who makes it fun to be forty!

Leah is an unique character. Then again, this is the elite of the all vampire stories. This is old world charm, extravagance and even rules. I am not sure where this story is set, as places mentioned are only for relocation, as oppose to present. I suggest the US because of the police number, but then I can't be too sure either. Not that it matters, as this story is so good no one care about location.

I think the structure and the story line is what makes this novel so awesome! I wouldn't mind never hearing the word "concubine" again, but I do love the meaning behind the terminology and the respect received and given by most, to the title of basically being "the woman/man on the side".

Not that the main characters were bad, because they were great! However, I found myself more intrigued with the rules, culture and eventually the prophecy of this series. I am not one for werewolf romances, I think my werewolf knowledge stops with the 'Twilight' series and the 'Underworld' movie franchises. With the interests and possibilities gained from this story, I am certain I will begin my werewolf reading, because you can't stop at one book! I'll secretly say the hybrid is what interest me most, but I don't mind taking the journey to get there.

This was a well written story with intricate details, history, culture, beliefs. It's a whole new supernatural world. Don't discount it as another vampire story, as it is not and will surprise and enlighten you to another form of vamprism and other supernatural creatures. It's nice when an author takes the initiative and time to create their own realm, and that and more is what we got.

This a different world of vampires, who are almost human, if not for their advanced abilities and diet. While this is a romance story, it is far more. Lucien, Leah alone with their friends, family and acquaintances gives you your money's worth.

I love all the characters in this novel. Their roles and personalities are clear and their purpose known. You have no questions, and if you do, they are answered by either Lucien's or Leah's POV. Sometimes both. There is much to learn, discover and anticipate with this novel and series. Even after almost 500 pages I still want more and feel like the real story is yet to come.

I guarantee it's another splendid Kristen Ashley novel that will leave you wanting more. This lady knows how to write a novel and in extension a series. I hardly ever complete her series, but this is shaping up to be my first ;)

Until the Sun Falls from the Sky begins with the Selection. This is something that totally blew me away. I had never heard anything at all like this until I read this book, so that was a major good start to reading this. Anyways, the Selection is where a human is picked by a vampire as a concubine. This is where things get a little crazy especially once Leah is picked. But apparently she has been claimed for the last twenty years by the powerful Lucian without her even knowing. And since she doesn't know all the rules and such she tends to make a whole lot of mistakes that could get her hurt or worse. But Leah being Leah she's not afraid really, and she's not going to let that stand in her way. Until Lucian comes along and things start going down hill.

These two have an explosive relationship that was borderline horrible, yet perfect. They both really messed up a few times through out the book, Lucian more than Leah. But eventually they got their act together and fixed it. I won't go into details but this book has a ton of romance. Steamy scenes, and tons of drama with a tiny bit of action. I love this new world that I was brought into filled with vampires, werewolves, and "bears" *gasp* OH MY!! Not only was the world awesome, but the writing was great as well. And I just fell in love with the characters. I loved both of their personalities and the fact that they did so much for each other. Now I am excited to read more in this series!

I had been putting off this book. I've had it for a while. I will tell you after my brief summary why I was putting it off.

Leah is a Buchannan. This means her family has been in the vampire concubine business for 500 years and their family was the first to sign up with the vampires. The vampires have made feeding very sophisticated. They go to a ceremony where they pick out their next concubine and everyone signs a contract. There is not funny business between concubine and vampire, only feeding. But Lucien has been waiting for 20 years for Leah to be his concubine and he will not allow anyone to tell him what he can and can't do with her.

The reason I had been putting this off is that Lucien has a vampire mate, Katrina. Obviously, Katrina doesn't like Leah, but I shouldn't have doubted Kristen Ashley's ability to make this situation work. I don't like the idea of the hero being with two women at once, but don't worry this is a non-issue in this book.

I really enjoyed this book. It isn't the typical KA book, but I happen to love PNR so reading about vampires wasn't off-putting for me. My biggest complaint with the storyline is that vampires and humans can't mate. Lucien knows that Leah is falling in love with him and how he reacts to her when she tells him this is devastating! I felt so awful for Leah!

I went right out and bought the second book in the series and I think that I will like this next one even better than this one. Although, I have been putting off reading that one too because I read that the heroine has a terminal illness! I should have more faith. Kristen doesn't write sad stories. They may break your heart in the middle, but there is always a happily ever after!

Favorite Quote: (Lucien and Leah talking)
"You can't stalk what's yours," he returned.
I looked at his shirt. "Yes, I suspect that's what all the stalkers say."

It's no secret that I'm a huge Kirsten Ashley fan. In fact I'm such a big fan of her's, that I want to actually live inside her head and just bask in the glory of having her amazing tales swirl past me every moment of each day.

Yes... I'm a scary huge fan of her books and hey... my reason for that is absolutely justified. She's amazing in any single tale she tells... well except for Breathe, which I wasn't a huge fan of and even then... it wasn't the story, it was the female character that drove me nuts. But back the the fact that on my list... she has a 99.9% brilliant book rating and Until The Sun Falls From The Sky is no exception.

All her book's I read in the past are based on everyday characters, like you and me (lol)... But this is the first of her books I've read that has a fantasy / paranormal twist to it and I was a little worried that it wouldn't have my perfect, adorable alpha males, I've come to EXPECT from Kristen Ashley... but ladies... it has all that and so much more... it has... drum-roll... Lucien... forget Christian Grey, Forget Gideon Cross, Forget Edward Cullen... forget about them all, this very minute and let me introduce you to Lucien... who is simply just called that... Lucien. Hot, Fierce, Seriously Masculine, a Big Beautifully Built Man and... a Vampire! Gasp! It doesn't get any better than that combination.

I was having a such a dry spell from books that I honestly couldn't find a book that gripped me. I had begun to read 4 books and simply couldn't make my way through them and then... Until The Sun Falls From The Sky came up next on my Kindle and I was like "Eh... let me give it a try because if nothing else... it's Kristen" so I did and I'm so happy to say I wasn't broken... I just needed something amazing to read and oh boy did I have an ah-ma-zing time doing it.

"I'm taking my mortal as my mate. You love me, I love you, we're connected, what we have is beautiful and that's all it'll ever be. For eternity. Until the end of days. Until the sun falls from the sky, all you and I will share is beauty."

The only reason I'm not giving it a perfectly bright 5 stars is only because I wanted to know more. In fact, it maybe would have been better if the book didn't spend to much time seriously working my emotions up all the way to the top and then just dropping it like a hot potato. It did that for a while before you finally got what you wanted from the get go. That was honestly frustrating but well worth the wait in the end.

I'm really hoping that the next books in the series incorporate Leah and Lucien because there are many unanswered questions and situations that I will need another book about just the two of them brought out to explain.

In essence... this books was so brilliant that I'm tempted to just start all over again. I seriously cannot wait to start the next part... which BTW I'm doing right now... bye!

So Kristen Ashley can write paranormal too! Not that I ever doubted her. A different take than what you normally think of when you hear about ‘vampires’. Lucien isn't your typical vampire. And Leah... well, she's not the typical concubine.

I have mixed feelings on this one. I really did enjoy it for the most part, but I can’t give it 5 stars because of the hero. I’m all for the jerk hero. Trust me, they are my favorite. But I think I spent more of the book agitated with Lucien than I did loving him. But by the end, boy did I love him! I did enjoy reading this book. I loved the writing, I couldn’t put it down once I started reading and the ending was beautiful. Even though it wasn't my favorite KA, it was still good for me! Looking forward to the next book in the series. Hot werewolf??? YES please!

I have SUCH mixed feelings about this book. So I'm going to make a list:

The GOOD:
Couldn't put the book down to save my life
Really enjoyed Lucien and Leah (when he wasn't being a HUGE MEANY and when she wasn't being STUPID)
Interesting story and loved the world KA creates
KA wrote it, that alone is amazing

The BAD:
Lucien was downright MEAN at times, he didn't take time to explain things to her. Her whole life changed and he didn't cut her much slack at all. (I can handle a a-hole hero, as long as he's not downright mean and Lucien was at times). I could cut him some slack for being a vampire and set in his ways/lifestyle but not as much as we are asked to take.
Lucien kept things from the h and continued to do so until the end of the book, telling her he'd tell her if he felt it was right.
Leah was great but at one point I was like "Stop being stupid!" Just the one time though. :)
I wish they had more time together that was happy at the end, it ended too soon and right after the big bad thing in the book. Really wish it been a bit more.

Overall, I have a love/hate relationship with this book and the H. On one hand, I totally loved it. On the other, not sure I'll ever read it again because it makes me so angry at times. I almost put the book down forever but picked it back up because the unhappiness wouldn't let me sleep. I'm glad I did but I hate it when I get to a book that makes me want to stop read, just so I won't have to hurt for the h anymore! But I really did like it, laughed and almost cried. Love KA, she's a genius. Going to read the next in this series.

Hmmm....Very Intersting!

So this is about a world where vampires pretty much co-exist with humans. They don't go around slaughtering humans or anything...instead they take human concubines. Concubines are to be treated with the most respect. Vampires are not allowed to mistreat their concubines, have any type of physical relationship, or live with them.

Leah Buchanan comes from a long line of respected concubines. She is now 40 years old, not in a human relationship, and is eligible to be a concubine. She has no desire to do so...she likes her life and really doesn't want to fall into her families footsteps. She goes to the Selection and notices that many people are watching her...what she doesn't know is that a very powerful vampire has staked claim her and will stop at nothing to make her his concubine.

Lucien is a powerful, alpha, vampire. He marked Leah when she was 20 years old...with every intention of making her his...in every way, even though it is illegal.

"...he'd marked Leah Buchanan as his. Everyone knew it, they had for decades. Except, of course, Leah."

He forces Leah to be his concubine and immediately starts an inappropriate relationship with her in the eyes of vampires. He kisses her in public, he moves in with her, he makes love to her...

Leah really thinks this is how things are supposed to be. She never really took the time to learn vampire history. What she finds out is a bit disturbing...

Lucian is in awe of Leah. She is feisty and fierce...she doesn't lay down at his feet, and that is what he is used too. Lucian has every intention of "taming" Leah...and at first she is not having it, it is pretty funny. He get's frustrated but will not back down from the challenge. The taming could be hard to read at times...you hated they way Lucian was: pig headed, domineering...a real jerk. But then you start to realize, as Leah did,

"...he always wanted me. Just me. It was about me submitting to what he was. I had to accept him, in all his bossy, domineering vampireness and the other sweet or gentle or generous parts besides"

Once she accepted him...He wanted her completely...

"I've been waiting to have you since I knew you existed. But I've been waiting for someone like you for five centuries"

There was time where vampires could take human mates...but then the laws changed and human mates were murdered, including Lucian's mate, Maggie.

He will do everything he can to protect Leah from this fate...including denying his feelings for her. He can't let her go though. He wants all of her...

"If you give me you, Lucien, then I promise, I'll give you me."

What they have is beautiful and even if it is temporary neither of them is willing to give up the time they have together. They end up breaking down the wall and really wanting each other forever...

"You love me, I love you, we're connected, what we have is beautiful and that's all it'll ever be. For eternity. Until the end of days. Until the sun falls from the sky, all you and I will share is beauty."...SWOON!!

You learn of a prophecy that links all three books and it leaves you intrigued about what is going to happen in this series...can't wait for book 2!!

Wow. I was blown away with this book. I love KA's stories and I've read all of her regular stories more than once. I just wasn't sure about reading here paranormal ones. I was afraid it would mess up how I felt about her writing. BOY WAS I WRONG! I didn't even want to put this book down.

Leah is a 40-year-old woman in a long line of well known concubines for generations that serve vampires and in the past even Kings. This is NOT the life she wants. So she purposefully always had a boyfriend and she's decided she never wants to grow up. She definitely is one who acts on her emotions first and she is first to tell you off if needs be. I felt like saying: No one puts Leah in a corner. (<---instead of Baby).

Lucien is older than dirt. (I'll let the book surprise you on that...) He has marked Leah since he spotted her 20 years prior. As soon as she is free of her latest boyfriend, he and other vampires alike, put her name on a list for the Selection. He's bound to have this woman and he's seriously invested his time into wanting to tame her. He's willing to risk it all to have her.

These two will come together and:
-knock heads
-fight the will of the wills
-learn when to back down and let go
-learn to trust
-learn to love
-learn to sacrifice
-and learn to fight for what they want

Mostly this book is about Lucien trying to teach Leah how to live a beautiful life if she will just submit to him as well as appreciate and accept him for who and what he is. They face throwing Vampire Laws in the face of the Council, staying safe from others who would do them harm, making sweet and good memories with each other, and working out a way to be together always.

What I liked:
1. Stephanie- awesome vampire BFF (I want to adopt her myself)-she says it like it is and is a loyal good friend of Lucien's
2. Cosmo- he rocks too and is a: good, loyal and trustworthy friend to Lucien
3. LUCIEN! How can you not love this broody, sweet & semi Alpha male?
4. Avery- he's a mystery all of his own ;o)
5. Edwina- maybe she can be my grandma and share her recipes with me
6. Lucien's mom and kids
7. Lucien's nicknames for Leah: Pet, sweetling, sweetheart & my love
8. All the sweet things Lucien does for Leah and how he's very affectionate and a cuddler---> who knew?!
9. I loved that these vampires don't fit the regular mold: They can go in the light, eat regular food and aren't man made. They have a heart and they are warm as well.

language. adult situations.

After reading this book, I can proudly say that I’m no longer a Kristen Ashley virgin! Yay! And I must ask myself why it took me so long to join the party? At least now I understand why KA fans are so loyal … Ms. Ashley writes one hell of a book. Her deep POV style kept me well engaged with the characters, and combined with fantastic world-building, I couldn’t stop reading.

I’m going to confess that I have a passion for vampires and Lucien is a great one! He’s strong, arrogant, and hopelessly devoted to his mate, Leah. Even with his faults, I fell in love with him. And any blunders he made along the way, he more than made up for at the end.

Leah also is a strong, hard-headed, and determined heroine who gives Lucien a run for his money and proves she’s not only a worthy mate, but his equal. Great, great read! Now off to read WITH EVERYTHING I AM, the second in the series.

Focused. Strong. True.

Leah Buchanan's family have been Concubines giving their blood to vampires for 500 years. At 40 years old Leah is summoned to the Selection where a vampire will make her an offer for her to become his Concubine. She will be in his service for a few years, he will take only her blood and she will live a lavish life as payment and be financially looked after until the day she dies. Only Leah doesn't want this kind of life for herself not even when she sees the handsome centuries old Lucien, but Leah is pressured into it by her family who are worried that she will bring shame on them if she doesn't. Lucien has been watching Leah for twenty years and he wants more from her then just her blood and but it is forbidden for any kind of romantic relationship to exist between vampire and Concubine. However this is a rule that Lucien is willing to break in order to Tame the beautiful Leah.

I was very curious about how I would find this book as I love the Romance books that Ms Ashley writes but I sometimes don't really get on with Paranormal Romance. I have an issue with the female characters in PNR books as more often than not they appear weak and foolish. I can say that I did enjoy this book though. It took me a bit of time to get into it as the style is somewhat different to the usual Kristen Ashley book. We have the first person POV from Leah and the third person POV from Lucien and I enjoyed the story much more when it was from Leah's POV. I liked Leah she wasn't a weak and foolish character however Lucien is a bit of a moron. He has the looks and the cash but he does not know how to treat a lady and he is not one of my favourite Kristen Ashley heroes. The story is a little predictable but that is what we love and expect from these kinds of books isn't it? I loved the ending and it has set up the next book which is about different characters but their story intertwines with this. I will definitely be carrying on with the series and would like to give Until The Sun Falls From The Sky 4 stars.

I’m a sucker for capture fantasy/dubious consent stories, and this book definitely delivered in that department. I loved that Leah did not just roll over for Lucien even though he was a big bad vampire. No, really. He was a freaking BIG and scary as hell vampire. People and vampires alike stepped aside for him and offered him respect. Leah, however, fought him tooth and nail. Granted, there were battles she knew she couldn’t win. Most of them, actually. That didn’t stop her from living up to her tenacious and contrary personality, if for no other reason than to annoy Lucien and see what he’d do. But it was more than that too – she was working hard to protect the only thing Lucien couldn’t forcibly take from her—her love. The overall effect was a lot of entertaining friction between her and Lucien. The sex between them was hot! If you enjoy your men (vampires) dominant and your heroines somewhat reluctant, the consent dubious, the punishments a little bit evil (not really evil, but evil in that HOT, I really want to come, but you won’t let me way), then I wholeheartedly recommend this book to you.

I'm on the fence between rating four or five stars, so I'll stay in the middle and give it a 4.5.

This is my second Kristen Ashley book (first being - Knight) and I really liked this book. For a first time delving into paranormal it was really good. So good that though I know a lot of the characters were supernatural beings, they came across very human. I liked that.

Leah. Leah, Leah, Leah. For a heroine, I grew to like her and in the middle of the book sympathized with her. Then she did the obligatory 'dumb' move that makes the hero own up to being in love with her and all was well in the world, well in my world regarding her. Her circumstances considered, I understand said move. I really do. My only problem was her acting like a teen when she's 40 years old but she grew on me.

Lucien was a great hero. Possessive, alpha, and just plain ol' sexy. I enjoyed his characterization and his words when he was a little too much on the jerk side calmed not only Leah but me as well.

I enjoyed the set up for the next book which I will definitely be reading. I loved the world building and paranormal elements K. Ashley brought to the table in "Until The Sun Falls From The Sky". Callum and Sonia's story awaits in the next installment, super excited to learn more. And I'm not an avid KA fan but so far the two books I've read from her has not disappointed so I may be becoming one.

I rounded up the rating just a tad. I'd actually rate this title 3.5 stars. This book had a lot going for it: interesting premise, sexy hero, close knit and supportive family dynamic, however I wasn't overly impressed by the heroine. She's very immature and off-putting. I was able to overlook the childish behavior because of the other factors I listed. I'd been putting off reading Kristen's paranormal romances for a long while. I didn't feel they could compete with her Rock Chick series, but I'm glad I decided to give this series a try.

I wanted to scream most of the way through this book. WAY too long and a lot of the same stuff repetively over and over. Leah was so immature for being a 40 year old woman. It really annoyed me that she knew from the beginning what she was going into at the selection and she acts as if she is taken by suprise by what is expected of her. I mean she comes from a long line of vampire concubines and when she gets there she's like "oh no I won't". ??? And like I said the book drug on and on and on and on. One minute she couldn't keep herself off of him and then the next she was all high and mighty with this "I'll NEVER give into you" attitude. Got completely on my nerves. Skimmed A LOT of this because it just kept repeating itself. Sorry but this is just not my thing.

So can KA do Vampires? Yeah she CAN and in true KA style Lucien was one HOT badass vampire! "Damn The Vampire" - he was AMAZING....Oh and KA's vampires are COOL not your typical vampires cause these bad boys eat and drink and they feed at yummy times...HOT!!! Oh and this book was SUPER HOT!!

Until The Sun Falls from the Sky was FAB-U-LUSH! It was different to other Vamp books..I love my Vamps moody, broody and strong..Lucien is ALL of that as well as extremely annoying and RUDE!! But as always you cannot help completely falling for him. I got him and I did!

Without giving to much away because I hate spoilers, this story has Leah going to her Selection Ceremony where she meets Lucien. Leah is a very STUBBORN and strong willed 40 year old who refuses to grow up and fall in line. Lucien has been waiting for Leah for 20 years and wants EVERYTHING LEAH, he wants to tame her! The way he goes about it is questionable but wow what a ride!

The running story of Immortals and prophesies is fab and I cannot wait to read more in this series!!

Kristen you ROCK as always!

Kristen Ashley's book one of the Three Series is just Blood-Suckingly Awesome!

Leah Buchanan comes from a long line of vampire concubines. Yep, vampire concubines. They provide feedings to their master in exchange they receive protection and financial stability for their lives. Leah however isn't interested in following this family tradition and keeps herself out of Selections for twenty years.

When her latest break up leaves her open to her invitation to The Selection she finds herself ushered by her mother and aunts to carry on the family's tradition. She is selected immediately by Vampire Lucien and this story takes flight!

There are rules, hot steamy scenes, enemies and then there is Leah and Lucien...

"You love me, I love you, we're connected, what we have is beautiful and that's all it'll ever be. For eternity. Until the end of days. Until the sun falls from the sky, all you and I will share is beauty."

Personally I only have a Why I Love Lucien Vault!(

This has everything I look for in a great book; strong, domineering yet loving alpha male; strong, self assured, compassionate female, great story line with lots of action, conflict and drama and a wonderful sensual love story that develops over time.

I do agree with some reviewers that there are certain ideas in the story that are somewhat confusing such and the taming and the groups involved in the war but this did not negate from the overall rating of the story and will hopefully be developed in book 2 and 3.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am going to start reading number 2 right now.

How did I not know about this K A book because seriously its a K A book, enough said, I haven't stopped reading since in started this morning. Kristen draws you in from the start when we meet Leah who is preparing for her Selection, she hasn't met Lucian yet but when she does he sets her panties aflame. It's a complex story about vampires but trust me it is so much more. Lucian maybe a vampire but he is alpha to the max, he has a bloody and violent past but Leah proves the exception in his life. You have to read IT to find out how their lives have intertwined over the years and to see if they have a future. I for one am going to buy book 2 now.

Unlike anything of her other books that I have read. I started out not liking Leah. She came across as a spoiled brat, especially for her age. I held that dislike for quite awhile, but Lucien and the rest more than made up for that. Once I figured out the whys of Leah, I found I actually liked her and held hope for their future. Unlike any other vampire book I have read before and I loved it.

I still want to be Kristen Ashley when I grow up, I've said this before but I think it bears repeating. I think Kristen Ashley is a genius. I also think it's sad that so many people have never had the opportunity to read one, yeah right lets say ALL of her books. I loved Until the Sun Falls From The Sky book one in the Three Series. I wish I could read it again for the first time. I was a little worried that I would get a different feel from these books since they are PR but Kristen Ashley's voice rang true from beginning to end. I found myself engrossed in Lucien and Leah's story. Lucien is your typical KA hero( you know the one you wish was actually real)he loves with everything he has and would do anything for his woman and he won't let anyone take what's his(sigh). I think this is a great book for those who love romance and want to try Paranormal romance.

I don't normally post reviews unless I absolutely love or hate a book...in this case, I hated it.

Ugh, this book was terrible. Initially, I was really excited to read it and the story was interesting enough that I bought the book after reading the sample. I've since returned it and didn't finish it.

Leah was awful. She's described as stubborn, strong, willful, etc., but all she came across as was whiny, juvenile, and pathetic. From the way she acts, you would think she's in her late teens early twenties...nope, she's 40! Seriously, that to me was so unrealistic and ridiculous, based on how her character acted and developed, that initially I didn't believe it. But nope, she was legitimately 40. I kept hoping then that perhaps she wasn't human and instead a race that has really long life. No such luck there either. She's just an unbelievably annoying and irritating 40 year old.

One of the things that irritated me most about her was when she claimed she hated being forced into the contract, hated being in the situation she was in, and being expected to be grateful for what Lucien has done for her, but never actually DID ANYTHING to fight it. All she did was whine and complain! She wasn't strong - she was a pushover who never made Lucien work for anything. She willingly handed herself to him on a silver platter and moaned and groaned while doing it. He never apologized or tried to earn her trust and respect - all he ever had to do was get her hot and bothered and that's all it took to shut her up. Hell, even then, sometimes all had to do was buy her something! Good grief. Pathetic.

Lucien was domineering, impatient, controlling, and could be downright cruel to her at times. I'm all for alpha males, but if he was going to be cruel, her supposedly strong will should have reared its head and made him regret it, but never once did that happened. Seriously, when they had had an "argument" he angrily left and went to a "feast" and was with another woman. Then he came home, wishing he hadn't left, finds her and knowing he can distract her from fighting with him over their earlier argument, drives her to orgasm. From the onset, she's angry at him, was quickly able to tell he'd been with someone else (before his hot and bothering routine began), but she still let him do that to her anyways!! Come on! He would have had an easier time making hell freeze over than trying anything like that with me if I'd been in that situation. To add icing to the cake, right after she'd come off her high, she tries to make him feel bad for it...for all of like twenty seconds before he somehow miraculously gets back in her acceptable graces again. That incident was one of too-freaking-many that drove me up the wall. After that, I couldn't read anymore, because I knew that she was going to completely capitulate and he would have done nothing to earn it but eff her senseless.

I hate it when woman are portrayed as being totally incapable of thinking rationally when sex is involved; that somehow, their brains shut down and they become mindless pleasure receiving masses that can’t do a friggen thing but take what’s being given. It’s pathetic and conveys that all you need to do to win an argument is arouse the person long enough to distract them and all problems will cease. Not only that, but it gives the man a certain element of control that makes it so he doesn’t actually have to change or work to earn the woman’s trust, respect and potential love. I’m not a feminist by any stretch of the imagination, but I don’t like it when woman can be made pliable with sex.

There were so many opportunities where Leah could have actually been strong and made Lucien feel guilty for his actions towards her and make him realize that he had to win her through actions and words, not domination and sex, but no. Instead, she capitulated and Lucien got everything he wanted without having to work for it.

No thanks.

The heroine does not consent to the agreement or pretty much anything done to her, but it's OK cause loves her? Forget it. It's assault and cohersion. If that's something you can read, then it's a book for you. I'm out. It's not cool alpha hero, it's Harvey Weinstein as a vampire.

Leah Buchanan’s family services vampires, with blood, however, Leah has decided she does not want to continue with this service. Unfortunately for Leah, she is selected, and soon learns she has no choices at all, including which vampire she will be chosen to service. Lucien is one of the most respected and powerful vampires in the Vampire Dominion, and he has decided things need to change, and he plans to use Leah to make it happen, and in doing so risks everything. The entire story is so captivating that I could not put this book down. Kristen Ashley is definitely one of my very favorite authors, as she is so talented. I have read ALL of her books. I suggest you get all three books in this series now, because once you start, you will NOT want to stop. The Three Series is one of my favorite series of all the books I have read!

This was a really great story, I love the fact that the main character Leah was not a young girl, she was fourty years old. She was funny, she spoke her mind and she would say she was not going to grow up until she was ninety two years old lol.. then there's the sexy Lucian the Vampire, who wants our girl Leah so bad that he waits for her for 20 years and he can't wait anymore he must have her, so he basically manipulate a couple of thing to have her, and the story starts, she hates him and he loves her. I have never read a vampire story like this it was different but good different, it has drama, love and a happy ending. I love when Lucian called Leah sweetling.

I really enjoyed this story and think I will enjoy the others. I have never read paranormal from K. Ashley but I loved it. My only complaint was that Leah reads way younger than 40 and at times it bothered me ,but not enough to still not enjoy the book!

All of Kristen Ashley books move me. She has a way with characters that pull you into the story and keep you there, never wanting it to end. Its a good thing there is a 2nd book out already and I've already indulged. Lucien and Leah are at times intense, at times funny, at times totally hot, but mostly, they are passionate and interesting and I just really loved their story. I wasn't sure i would like, or be able to follow a story with vampires, wolves, etc, but it turned out to be very engaging and fun. You must read the next story with Callum and Sonia's story. It was just as engaging and steamy and fun.

First of all Kristen Ashley is one of my favorite authors and I still had serious doubts I could love another vampire more than that well ... um you know... that "other" famous vampire. But I was so wrong to doubt the Mighty KA!

Thinking all my attention would go to the super hot alpha vampires, I was supirsed to love Leah as much as I did. I love that she is strong willed and smart mouthed even in the face of immortals.

I will not even attempt to summarize Lucien. He is true to all KA leading men. HOT and ALPHA who just happens to need the blood of a mortal to survive!

I'd rather die with you than live without you.

WOW!! Where can I find myself a sexy hunky vamp?? I loved Lucien so sexy and raw!! He was overbearing, but aren't all alpha males? Leah was feisty and funny!! She had an attitude which got a little annoying at times, but it suited her. All the craziness with the vamps was cool! I loved KA's take on the vampire culture! I enjoyed this book immensely and I'm ready to read about Callum and Sonia Yay!!!

A different kind of vampire story. After I read it a second time it was less confusing.
What I really love about Kristen's stories, is they are not about teens or 20 somethings. They are about people my age. It's so refreshing. I love her books!

I was paging though my kindle yesterday trying to find something interesting to read and came across a Kristen Ashley book that I hadn't read yet. I was sooo excited! A snarky, spunky heroine and an overbearing, smug, possessive, dominating, damn sexy vampire. What's not to love.

Thank you Kirsten Ashley for writing yet another gripping and romantic story. You never fail to deliver - hope you don't take too long to finish off the Trilogy - I'll be waiting in earnest!

Love Lucien and Leah - in fact, love all your characters.

Keep doing what you do best!

I love Kristen Ashley and I have read most of her work. A lot of them are in my read-a-hundred-times-and-not-get-bored list. I hate to say it but this one is a disappointment for me. I could not get passed some of the issues I encountered:

1 - The heroine is 40. Most of KA's heroines aren't exactly teenagers or just-out-of-college wide-eyed innocents but 40 is stretching it a bit for me. I have had to imagine hot 40-year-old bombshells the likes of Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston to convince myself that 40 is still good. Yep this is a superficial opinion, but well, maybe that's just me. No hating!

2 - I might have been able to get past my 40-year-old-heroine issue, honestly I have read one other book where I found this okay (also by the same author). I wasn't all excited about the idea, but it was okay enough to pull it off. What blew me right off here was that the heroine did not THINK, ACT, or REACT like she's 40. She had the petulant rebelliousness of a teenager complete with immature tantrums. The level of "cuteness" she was described just didn't match the number; at most maybe she can pass for a very childish, unlikeable 25-year-old, tops.

3 - I know anything goes in the paranormal world, but I was still too weirded out with "concubines", with whoredom being passed on from generation to generation. Had I been made to understand why this is considered such an "honor", perhaps I would have empathized with the characters and the story better. I also didn't get the full idea of their "claimings" and "tamings" and "sentence" and "war", among other things. A lot are too contradictory by half. KA tried to work the romance in this area, of course, but for me it just fell short. There was no good romance here, IMO. Just the usual Alpha hero (KA is the best in defining "alpha") who can be a big jerk sometimes, and an annoying heroine.

I am hopeful that the next one in this series is way better.

I hated this book. The plot was good but the horrible H/h ruined the book for me. The H was a complete bastard w/ minimal redeeming qualities. At least he talked in complete sentences.

The h was TSTL. She acted like a brat or completely immature. She had such potential. There were a few scenes where I cheered for her but mostly I wanted to slap her.

I DNF @ 65% & then skimmed to the end.

Sorry fan girls I'm done with this author. I can't take the rambling writing style, the childish leading ladies or the extreme lack of editing any longer. This book is the straw on my camels back. It all just makes my brain hurt. Maybe if she could spring for a real editor who could edit out the redundant bs all of her books seem to contain I will be back.
