What a disappointment!!!! Having read almost all his books this one is so bad and inaccurate in military terms and dates of usage for so many of the terms, awful. If WSmith wrote this shame on him, I felt it was so badly done someone ghost wrote it for him

I just love the ancient Egyptian books by Wilbur Smith. It feels like he lived it in person.
Taita is a great character! I have all of Taita's books and would highly
recommend this book and all of them.

The Desert God continues the amazing story of Taita and the Egyptian Series. Like every book in every series by Wilbur Smith, we are transported back in time to experience history and cultures and characters as they lived.

The first Wilbur Smith book I ever read was River God. I have since read every book he has written. Mr. Smith has enriched my life with his uncanny ability to share his knowledge and wisdom about Africa, the world, and the exciting mystery and unlimited potential of humanity. From River God to Desert God, "Taita" has become my favorite character in literature. I have been rewarded in the fact that he has lived several lifetimes to share his intellect and insights. In fact, I believe Taita still lives today. His name is Wilbur Smith.

Well written, but lots of implausibilities which detracts somewhat from the story. The introduction of divine entities places this somewhat into the science fiction genre and less of a historical fiction. All in all, good reading, just requires denial of reality.

Desert God is a typical Wilbur Smith novel using Egypt as its background. It is well written and entertaining. I am amazed at how Smith can take historical bits and weave a somewhat complicated story. All in all, a good read.

as usual wilbur has done his usual superb job. I have all of his books in both hard back and on my kindle . Wilbur and i are both about the same age and I have been a total fan from the start.I almost never make any complete and total recommendation for any book, movie or etc. Wilbur smith isone of my very few and he is at the top ,of my list.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! Very interesting to remember Bible stories of Egypt and Game of Thrones while reading this book. It is kind of a masculine story with a few girls thrown in, but I enjoyed all the military strategizing. Good read. Shawnee

Fun read. No where near the original and even the follow ups. Characters are not as rich and the story seems rushed and far from the intricate details of River God. Never disappointed with Mr. Smith's work, however, I would like his honest opinion of this.

It was obvious within the first several pages that this novel was not totally the language of Wilbur Smith. It lacked the descriptive magic that made his early works so wonderful to read. It was disappointing.

Wilbur Smith has been my favorite author for a very long time. This is by far the worst novel he has written. Taita was a good character in past novels but here he has become a conceited super-god. I'm not even finished reading and I'm tired of hearing how great he is. I was so looking forward to this novel as it's been a while but I am extremely disappointed.

I have been a huge fan of Wilbur Smith "forever." I have read everything he has written and wait with-baited-breath for his books to come out and then I devour them. This one was indeed disappointing. Character development was weak...although those of us who have "known" Taita can not expect much more there. However he seemed more vain and self-centered which came as a big surprise. The story was interesting but it never got off the ground or had the sweep of the earlier Egyptian series books. In the entire panoply of his writings, I would rate this dead last. But, if you ARE a Wilbur Smith fan, it is still a reasonable read...but "just." Sorry Mr. Smith...this one just didn't do anything for me.

This is a wonderful book where the main character "Taita" continues through several previous books. If you like ancient Egypt, wars, love stories and God's, you will love this book! Author Wilbur Smith wrote a wonder series.

Desert God is solid Wilbur Smith adventure. It is a little verbose at times, but he tells an outstanding story with an amazing use of vocabulary. It is good to see him return to historical Egypt versus his other recent works.
