Just finished reading the book. I have started using the EOD, and I'm excited about it. May be, this time I will be successful - lose and not gain the weight back. It seems something that is totally doable: One day feast and next day modified fast. The only comment I would have is that the recommendations for the fast day is primarily frozen meals. I think this is the easiest way to get started and be successful. However, I think for long-term good health, you must move away from so many processed foods. But in the beginning, it works! Success gained initially will make you stay on the diet and do it. It seems more like a lifestyle as opposed to a diet. I like that. And, the EOD Success Plan is just as easy. Yay! This is a light at the end of a dark tunnel...

Finally a diet that works. This is the easiest program I have ever been on....and I have done them all. My husband and I have both been on it since Sept 5 (7 weeks). He has lost 14 lbs and wants to lose another 10 and I have lost 8 and want to lose another 6 and then will go on maintenance plan which is 1000 calories every other day. This doctor/author has done the research and testing and has written it up in simple language that we all can understand. Highly recommend!!

I wanted to learn the basics about Alternate Day fasting, and this book does indeed cover the basics, including an important section on the science and studies that support the lifestyle. However...the vast majority of this book is recipes. Honestly, the concept is not that difficult to understand, and once you've covered the science/studies and outlined the very few rules, you wouldn't have much of a book, so I guess the recipes make sense as filler material. But it really should be marketed as a primarily recipe book. And seriously, do people NEED page after page of 500 calorie recipes?

I kept looking for, and was disappointed not to find, some very basic QandA type of information. How do you incorporate one meal a day if you are on meds that must be taken with food? What about the ongoing debate between 2 vs 3 fast days a week? what side effects do people report from fasting, and how are they mitigated? Etc, etc. If you're trying to win people over to the concept, provide more detailed info about how to do it other than just "have at it."

Started this after having stalled after about a year on weight watchers (dropped from 210 to 175 (6' male)). Was getting tired of constantly tracking intake on WW, and looking for a relatively easy way to drop a last few pounds and keep them off. 3 months later I was about where i started but the hunger on fast days is distracting and makes you irritable. This didn't really diminish after a couple weeks and become easy as suggested in the book. Your mileage may vary of course. Cant hurt to try out this diet and I do respect that the author is a real researcher. It may be more successful for others

This scientist/author has systematically and methodically created a workable diet - or should I say lifestyle - that anyone can master. It doesn't cost a fortune nor does it ask the impossible. I've been on many diets in my lifetime and while most of them got the weight off it never stayed off. I've only been on this diet a short time but I think I can do this one successfully for a lifetime.

I recently began this diet after months of frustration, deprivation, and minimal results. This is THE diet. It works. I am losing weight and I am eating what i want. If you are questioning the effectiveness of this diet or the ability to adhere to it, DONT!! Trust me, do it now and experience the best diet you've ever attempted. You will be satisfied and spreading the news to everyone you know within days! This one is a no-brainer and this author is a genius! Read the book, start the diet, and enjoy your new healthy body and life!

This paperback book, even though it said it was being shipped from US, has all the recipes in grams. The names of some of the food is changed as well. Hard to rate because I love the book but hate that it's not the same version that I checked out from the library. I've never heard of a mangetout! Luckily I still have the library book so I can note that the recipe calls for snow peas.

Good information. Easy to read, but based on scientific studies that the author has conducted. The diet is harder than she makes it seem (she seems to think it's simple!), but it isn't as hard as it sounds at first.

I bought this on the recommendation from a friend. This is a great book and the research is phenomenal. My husband and I both went on the regimen and found it fairly easy to follow. It even has a maintenance program which works well There are lots of recipes and the author also includes grocery store packaged meals that are permissible. It makes following the diet very easy.

Love the book; love the concept. Unfortunately, for me eating is a real mind game. I've lost 15# in 3 weeks BUT those FAST days are harder than they appear. I have to stay out of the kitchen and always remind myself to drink more water to fill up. My mind says eat but I know I'm not hungry. Stay occupied; do crafts; clean house ...again... I tell you...mind games. After 3 weeks you'd think I've gotten used to those vicious mind games...hmmm...another mind game. Strangely enough on FEAST days, I'm really not that hungry. Go figure. Glad to be losing weight. It really is easier than I thought (except for the mind game thing).

Clear, concise, fun to read. Varady's research gave me the confidence to start my journey of weight loss using the EOD diet. I'm losing weight and I feel great. My health is better and I am more mindful and aware or what and when I eat. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed!

Love this book!! Lost 17 lbs first month, which is hard to do with hypothyroidism!! It works, and I am amazed how easy it is to keep to the 500 calories on fast day! The book explains the science and the author certainly did enough of her own studies to prove her theories, and the results speak for themselves!! I can see this being my forever way of life! Finally, a so called diet I can see results with and stick to.

The diet works as advertised. Lost 10lbs in the first month. As mentioned in the book, the first couple of weeks required perseverance, then the fasting routine became much easier. Highly recommend this book.

I love the confidence based on documented and proven studied this author offers. I have been on this program for almost a week now and I have already lost 5 pounds without even feeling deprived!!! For someone who had been addicted to food since I was a child, I never thought that was possible. All I can say about this diet is WHERE have you bee mall my life!!!! I now know it IS possible to get to my goal weight and STAY there thanks to this book. I simply can't say thank you enough. Thank you for giving me a new lease on life!!!!

Well written book. The trick is disciplining yourself to stick to her concept of switching every other day.between a big meal day and a restricted meal day. I've lost 2 pounds but am having difficulty following the plan as life often gets in the way on the small meal days.
