Dallas and Jane have a long history together as they were kidnapped by a couple of people when they were young. Jane was freed by they kept Dallas for another four weeks. Jane never knew what went on in the weeks that followed.

Jane decides to go to Dallas's house and finds she is in the middle of a party. As she looks for Dallas and opens his bedroom door she sees two women on the bed and Dallas on his pants unzipped. She turns and flees she she hadn't seen him in a long time she was still totally in love with him and seeing him his like this was too much.

One of their secrets was that they were brother and sister but, not by blood but of adoption. She always love Dallas and it broke her heart that they could not be together they always comforted each other.

Twists,turns,betrayal, and secrets make this an intriguing read. Will Jane and Dallas ever be together?

I’ll admit it. DIRTIEST SECRET is my VERY FIRST J. Kenner book! I’ll hold for the shock and awes! Yes, that means I have not had the pleasure of reading the Stark Trilogy yet, but after DEVOURING this book, they are shooting up to the top of my list FOR SURE! But this is about Dallas Sykes. Gorgeous, devastatingly protective, all-around ALPHA male lead of this new Stark International series. Well-known playboy, but to Jane Martin, he is forbidden in so may ways. Desperate to maintain control of their impulses, Dallas and Jane try to keep their distance, but external forces push them together in more ways than one.

DIRTIEST SECRET is a romantic suspense about seeking revenge, and seeking justice. It’s sexy, passionate, and intense to the max! Dallas and Jane, who have been fighting their growing desire for one another, finally give in to their hearts and souls. It’s electric! It’s explosive! It’s erotic and delicious! A love story full of drama, taboo, and secrets! What’s not to love? I have to tell you that this book left me on the edge of my seat, gasping for more. DIRTIEST SECRET is one HELL of a start to what I’m sure will be an absolutely addicting new series!

J. Kenner's writing is so incredibly sensual, it's always a pleasure immersing myself in her words. Combine this with a passionate couple and I'm riding the wave of eroticism and lust.

Having read Deepest Kiss, I'd already been introduced to Dallas Sykes. Then again with the moniker The King of F#*, you wonder whether he needs any introduction at all.

That said and incidentally what I enjoyed most about this novel is the preconception of him. He has all the attributes and means of the quintessential playboy billionaire and actively perpetuates his hedonistic persona.

There is one person who truly knows him, and is the person he keeps at arms length. The truth usually can be freeing, but in this case can cause irreparable damage. Kenner went big and I'm interested to see how the story will develop. In the same breath, this is where I struggled. The back and forth represented the turmoil but was rather distracting.

I have to give kudos where it is due in any case. I may not have been engaged as is usual for a Kenner novel but I can't deny the heart of the matter is a riveting one.

"The Dirtiest Secret", is the first book in Ms Kenner's new. S.I.N series and did not disappoint.
Dallas Sykes, billionaire bad boy, " The F King" all images he very purposely propagates. Oth for very personal reasons and business reasons. However the real Dallas is hiding behind that very personna he has so very carefully crafted, hiding the real Dallas from the public and his family.
The Dallas who is still haunted by his and his sisters abduction as teenagers, the Dallas who loves his sister Jane.
He knows the public and his family would see it as taboo but really they have no shared blood between them; which is why the relationship that use to be so good between him and Jane is strained now. His love for Jane and his desire for vengeance has lead to him starting a secret mercer angry organization " Deliverance". Deliverance exists for two reasons, find the people who abdusted and held Jane and him as children and actually rescue new kidnap victims. What Dallas did not count on was Jane, the very proper Jane reaching her limit and seeking him out.
To spite the love these two have for each other what society will think still makes what they want taboo, but temptaion is hard not to give into. A dirty little secret to be kept , amongst a pile of other secrets; some small and some very big.
Ms Kenner delivers an intriguing suspenseful plot line, filled with sexual tension and alittle bit of a cliffy, just enough to keep you hungry for the next book in the series .

The memory of Dallas Sykes burns inside of me.

Everyone knows him as a notorious playboy, a man for whom women and money are no object. But to me, he’s still the one man I desperately crave—yet the one I can never have.

Dallas knows me better than anyone else. We bear the same scars, the same darkness in our past. I thought I could move on by staying away, but now that we’re drawn together once more, I can’t fight the force of our attraction or the temptation to make him mine.

We’ve tried to maintain control, not letting ourselves give in to desire. And for so long we’ve told ourselves no—but now it’s finally time to say yes.

My Review:
Fans of Kenner's books will recognize Dallas from her Stark series but its not necessary for anyone that hasn't read those books to read those first to understand this book. Dirtiest Secret is separate from the Stark series.

Dirtiest Secret would have been a five star read for me if there hadn't been so much indecisiveness in it. Dallas knows who he is and he knows his mind, he's never been so unsure and his constant unwillingness to engage and put his mental car into drive prevented me from being able to do the same. I kept wanting him to put his big boy pants on and do something but he just seemed to remain in neutral. Unwilling to go back and unwilling to go forward. This caused a lot of frustration for me because he had so much potential to really go places and explore areas we haven't seen before.

That being said its not a bad read at all because its fantastic and I'll stand by that but I wanted more. I wanted Kenner to push barriers and break through to new and unexplored depths. I am still enthralled and enticed but I am still longing for more. I am hoping that the following books will give me what I am longing for.

J. Kenner packs "Dirtiest Secret" so full of Action, Suspense, Terror, Eroticism, and Romance that my head is still spinning trying to take it all in! This is the first installment in the incredibly Dark Romantic Thriller S.I.N. series that may involve some of your "Hard Limits", it's twisted, but the story is engrossing. Let's take the "Lightning City Erotic Novel Test": If you take out the BDSM is does the book hold up? Yes. If you take out the sex, does the book still hold up? Yes, most definitely. Don't get me wrong the sex in this novel is a crazy ride and it isn't what it appears to be, but it is titillating none the less - WOW more than scintillating!!! The characters are chock full of secrets, deception, lies, and for some reason some of the not so traumatic - but important information - isn't revealed which makes things messy There are a truck-load of tropes: Young Love, Forbidden Love, Kinky Love, and Long Lost Love and this is an Epically Impossible Romance. But if anyone can pull this off ... I think it's J. Kenner. We have our dark anti-hero, Dallas Sykes who is riddled with horrifying memories of being kidnapped in his teens with his "sister" and the emotional scarring it left him with. Then we have the heroine, Jane Martin, who was kidnapped along with the hero, whose feeling are complex in regards to him and have been for some time. Her experiences have led her to deal with her demons in several ways but lately by writing a novel about children on a bus who have been kidnapped and the efforts to rescue them. Dallas and Jane are legally "brother" and "sister" but do not share a drop of blood. They've known each other since they were children, Jane's parents were close friends of Dallas' uncle, she would often play with him and the housekeeper's son Liam while visiting. Ian Sykes took Dallas in at the age of five after his father, Donovan, was lost at sea. But it wasn't until Jane's mother divorced and married Ian Sykes that Jane and Ian adopted Dallas that they became step siblings. There was an instantaneous friendship between the three children which has lasted until the present time - their thirties but there was a deeper draw between Dallas and Jane since their pre-teens. The Thriller part of novel is just that - gripping - how the hero and heroine deal with their experience is unexpectedly at cross purposes and leads to even more secrets.
"Dirtiest Secret" is a fascinating Romantic Thriller and I am chomping at the bit to get to the next installment of the S.I.N. series. I'm hoping the sex keeps amping up with each book in the series. J. Kenner has created a rich backstory for the main characters and a large cast of secondary characters - which helps add to the feeling of who was part of the kidnapping and are plans still in motion? Not only that ... but how can these star-crossed lovers find a happy ending for a seemingly taboo Love? These are questions to which I NEED answers!

Review:
I remember the very first time I picked up J Kenner's Stark series and fell in love with Damien Stark and Nikki Fairchild, then continued the journey into the Stark International series with Jackson Steel and Sylvia Brooks, and in comes Dallas Sykes, the known playboy billionaire who knows his way around a woman even with his eyes closed and made his appearance a few times in the previous series. In the S.I.N. series, we meet a new set of characters who are far more complex and their history more intertwined than I would have first thought: Dallas and Jane have a relationship unlike any other I've seen in any book so far - both were in the same home after having been adopted and then were brother and sister-in law, through a marriage (never fear, there is no blood ties between the two). At a young age, the two suffered a horrible experience together that left them not only traumatized, but closer to one another as they healed. Throughout the years, Dallas has built himself quite the reputation as the ladies man in the bedroom and while trying to find those who had hurt him and Jane 17 years ago and when he reconnects with her, he realizes that the girl is now the woman he still hasn't forgotten and desperately wants, no matter their family connection. Considering that this was a new series with a character that had such a small role in the previous Stark series, there was a good portion of the novel that was dedication to finding out more about them - their past, their experiences and up to their present, which can be long for some readers, but it picks up to a smoking ending that made me want to pull out my hair: CLIFFHANGER!! The dreaded words! Such a shame that I now have to wait until the next instalment to find out what will happen to this couple that I couldn't help but root for them to push and shove their way through every obstacle to make it. J Kenner has done a great job at introducing us to her new S.I.N. series with Dirtiest Secrets and I can't wait to see what the second book with bring.

Dallas Sykes is not just anyone, he’s the billionaire playboy known for taking any woman he wants but his past holds him back. Jane is the one person who knows him and she shares secrets with him no one knows about. What happens when those secrets become too much?
~~~~~~~~~~
This book may be the first in the Dirtiest Trilogy and another series added to the Stark International Series but J Kenner pulled out all the stops! I can honestly say this is probably one of the hottest and naughtiest novels from her so far. The readers met Dallas in other Stark books so we have an idea who the billionaire playboy is and what he likes but this book brings us up close and personal with the real Dallas Sykes. I love that his book gives us a look into Dallas’s past which sharped his present. He may come off as a jerk or arrogant prick but when you really get to know the character you can’t help but fall for him. He is everything a woman could dream her perfect alpha male would be but his past holds him back.
Dallas Sykes has known Jane since the day he was dropped at his uncle’s door step. She showed him what kindness was and they have an unbreakable bond that is as much as a blessing as it is a curse. She isn’t just any girl, to most people she’s the writer with a passion for telling the stories of kidnap victims. Alongside her ex-husband Bill, she will be there to help take down the vigilante groups who work outside the law or at least that what Jane likes to think. What everyone doesn’t know is that her passion comes from a deeper place within. Dallas and Jane’s bond is so strong you wonder if there is anything that could break it and hope that it doesn’t’. These two characters share so much with each other when it comes to secrets it leaves you curious to see if they will tear them apart.
J Kenner had me hooked from the first chapter. I was left wanting to know what secrets were going to come out and as these two had more secrets than you thought possible. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen next J Kenner throws a twist in the story that leaves you stunned. This is a trilogy so there is a cliff hanger but oh what a cliff hanger it is. I can’t wait to see what is in store for both Dallas and Jane in Hottest Mess!
Dallas Sykes! Ladies, he did not disappoint. Rugged, handsome, wolfish, suedo-manwhore. He was EVERYTHING and more! I had to sleep last night after I finished this book, so I could gather my thoughts about this book, but I'm still reeling! He was that good - so worthy of being apart of the Stark Series.
Abandon by his birth parents, raised by his uncle and aunt (they later adopted him) - Dallas never wanted for anything. Except the one thing he could have - Jane. These two are not only star-crossed, but a sick twist of fate has made them family. How cruel!
An tragic incident in their past not only drew them "together", but is also now tearing them apart - Jane & Dallas have lost touch. And while Jane has masked her pain/anguish with a failed marriage, Dallas sleeps with random women and is known as "The King of ..." - well I can't say. You'll have to read it to find out, but neither are happy in their roles now, still drawn together, but never being "together".
I felt for them. I shouted with them. I roared with them at the unfairness of it all! There has to be some way they can be together - THERE JUST HAS TO BE!!! Dallas & Jane need a break here - and boy, did they get one ... or was it two or three? *wink*
I have my theories on what happened in the past, and I imagine those details will be divulged in the 2 books to come in this new S.I.N. series, but what lasting effects will it have on Dallas and Jane? Will it bring them closer? Or tear them further apart?
I cannot WAIT for Hottest Mess. I need more Dallas. And I desperately need more answers!
You probably remember Dallas Sykes from the Stark International series. Our seductive hero gets his own story in Dirtiest Secret.
Everyone knows Dallas Sykes is a notorious playboy, a man for whom women and money are no object. But to Jane Martin, Dallas is the one man who knows her better than anyone else. He's the one man she desperately craves. He's also the one man she can never have.
J. Kenner's Dirtiest Secret hooked me from page one and never let go. As damaged as Dallas Sykes is, I absolutely love him. He's unbelievably good looking. Dark hair and green eyes ALWAYS do it for me. His body is hot beyond belief and he's known to give women exactly what they want.
Dallas has A LOT of dirty secrets, but I'm not sharing them because they're not my secrets to tell. Besides it's so much better if you learn them from Dallas.
Guess what? Jane has some of her own secrets. Now it wouldn't be fair if I told you Jane's and not Dallas'. So you're just going to have to one click Dirtiest Secret and read about all Dallas and Jane's deliciously naughty secrets.
I will give you one bit of information. Dallas and Jane have known each other since they were children. They have always been close. There's always been an attraction between them. But seventeen years ago something happened that changed them and their relationship forever.
Now as adults, both of them feel something is missing in their lives. They both know they miss each other terribly, but one of their dirty secrets keeps them apart. This secret is huge. You'll find it out pretty quickly when you read the book, but it's huge and it's dirty and it will just make you want to keep reading.
Dallas and Jane took different paths in life to try to forget the tragedy of their teen age years. Their families covered it up and Dallas and Jane handle their pain in completely different ways. The only thing that is similar about them is the feelings they have for each other.
A new development in their case brings them back together. Dallas is keeping huge secrets from Jane and he's sure if she finds out what is it that he actually does, it will destroy the tenuous relationship they share.
Jane, who I completely love, has decided she doesn't care about secrets anymore, she doesn't care if being with Dallas is the wrong thing to do. She. Wants. Him. And boy does she let him know it. Dallas doesn't think he's good for Jane and does everything he can to discourage her. Encouraged by a friend that know all of their secrets she goes after her man and when Dallas gives into his feelings...they literally steam up the pages. J. Kenner writes scenes that are so sexy, you'll be fanning yourself to cool down. If I could just include, J Kenner hi I would love it if that particular friend got his own book...just saying.
But back to reviewing. I love the way J. Kenner writes and Dirtiest Secret is no different. You get sucked in right from the start because, of course you want Dallas and Jane to be together romantically, but there's also a completely suspenseful story in the midst of all the love.
I will tell you, Dirtiest Secret ends in a bit of a cliffy. So I am absolutely chomping at the bit for July 12 when Hottest Mess is released. I'm so hoping for a HEA for Dallas and Jane.
Five sexy lip smacks for Dallas Sykes and J. Kenner's Dirtiest Secret.
An intriguing taboo love story but it was mired in a kidnapping subplot as well as a bdsm subplot.
It was well written but the pace was slower than I would have liked. There wasn’t really romance, it was more like dark and erotic passion. I suspect more romance will come in book 2.
Dallas Sykes is known to the general public as “The King of” bedroom activities, the billionaire and uber playboy who has and will sleep with anyone. But behind the mask lies a lonely man who desperately longs for only one woman. He uses his time, money and influence to fight behind the scenes as the founder of Deliverance. A mercenary group dedicated to rescuing kidnapping victims and returning them to their loved ones.
Jane Martin has been working for ten years to exorcise the demons from her traumatic kidnapping where she was held for ransom with her brother Dallas. Now she is taking up fighting vigilante groups that focus on the reward money as opposed to the actual kidnapping victim.
Dallas and Jane are doing their best to keep busy because they feel bereft without the person their heart desires the most. The angst of the situation kept it suspenseful. I was hopeful because it was clear there would be healing once Dallas and Jane surrendered. To deal with their yearning, Dallas and Jane begin sexual play that is both erotic and very sensual. I felt like a voyeur but I also really wanted some resolution for Dallas and Jane after their traumatic experience ten years ago. This coping mechanism would be bad press for the family’s business if it were to be exposed but it was just what the two of them needed.
What I didn’t like the build of the forbidden issue perhaps because I didn’t find it so unthinkable. Such emphasis was placed on it when it was clear that the hero and heroine were undeniably drawn to each other. The story flowed much smoother when they gave in to their feelings.
I also didn’t like the relationship with the parents as there seemed to be full acceptance and love without strings.
I look forward to the resolution of the mastermind of the devious kidnapping as I have my suspicions. I also look forward to Dallas and Jane finally coming to grips with all they have been running from.
First in the S.I.N. (Stark International Novel) erotic romance series and revolving around a "brother" and "sister" who each needs to be in control.
This ARC was sent to me by NetGalley and Bantam for an honest review.
My Take
There's a reality to Dirtiest Secret when Dallas considers Jane's book, the happy ending the kids get, and knows that the end is never happy for the victims, for both Dallas and Jane are totally destroyed with what they see as their dirtiest secret. The blame for which goes to their kidnappers for the brutality and brainwashing and to their "parents" for creating conditions for the "sin". And both Dallas and Jane drive me mad with their whining.
I understand why Dallas feels so broken, and there are some amazing(ly) disgusting revelations towards the end. Kenner did drive me rather nuts with all the hints she kept dropping. I'm certainly never going to understand people like Dallas and Jane's kidnappers. That mindset, what they do to the kids…gawd. My imagination careened all over the place!
Dallas sure is doing a good job with that front he puts up; his parents and Jane all think it's true. More of Dallas' issues include his adoptive father's reactions to the kidnapping. How quiet he kept it, the control he held over it.
Dallas and Jane are between a rock and a hard place, um, places? They love each other and want to be together, and when they are together, the guilt and fear forces them apart. I dunno, can't they get unadopted?? They cope as best they can: Dallas has Deliverance, and Jane has taken a public stance against vigilante groups.
Henry Darcy hired Deliverance to get his girls back, and now he's blabbing about it? Okay, I guess I can understand that, the relief he feels, the fears I'm sure he feels for other parents suffering. But he must be a smart man to have accumulated the kind of wealth that attracts kidnappers. Wouldn't he realize the danger he's putting Deliverance into?
Ooh, ick…seems Deliverance's name was inspired by the movie of the same name. I do like the reasoning behind it, lol.
I'm with Brody. Jane shouldn't feel guilty for her and Dallas surviving the best they could during that ordeal. That Stacey is pretty smart too, *grin*.
And I'm wondering if the Woman is Adele.
The Story
Six people had kidnapped Dallas and Jane seventeen years ago. And Dallas has been trying to find them ever since. It's the whole reason behind Deliverance. Now his chance for the sixth person has come with the arrest of one of them. Until…
It has to be an inside man. Someone who doesn't want the truth coming out. Meanwhile, Dallas and Jane are struggling with their own dreams and fears.
The Characters
Jane Sykes Martin is technically Dallas' sister. And they love each other. Now she's a writer, and her book, The Price of Ransom, is about to be made into a movie. Bill Martin is her ex-husband and is still a research source for Jane's writing. Gregory Allan Brody is one of Jane's best friends — and knows ALL her secrets; he's also a professional Dom who tends bar and is married to Stacey, who is in remission from the cancer now and back to work part-time as a specialty travel agent. Ellen is Jane's housekeeper.
Dallas Sykes is a very manipulative man who took over as CEO of the retail side of the Sykes empire five years ago. It's good cover for his Deliverance work. Archie Shaw has worked for the Sykes family for 45 years; for the last ten, he has worked exclusively for Dallas as manservant, valet, confessor, and friend. Gin Kramer is Dallas' corporate secretary; she used to be Eli's assistant. Susie is the "eager" flight attendant aboard the Sykes jet.
Eli Sykes is a billionaire retailer married to Lisa West Sykes, Jane's birth mother. Colin West is Jane's birth father, but he has some very bad habits, and Lisa divorced him. Eli and the Wests had been good friends. The dead Donovan Sykes had been Eli's brother — and Dallas' father. Dallas' mother is/was? a junkie. Mr. Fluffles is the bunny Jane gave five-year-old Dallas when he first arrived. Poppy is the great-grandfather about to turn 100. Becca has been his live-in nurse and crossword helper for 20 years. Grams is Eli's 80-year-old mother.
Deliverance is…
…a covert vigilante team that rescues kidnapped children. It started when Dallas became determined to find his kidnappers. Its South American headquarters is a well-hidden and protected house that Dallas has camouflaged in a most unique way. Liam Foster is the son of Helen Foster, the live-in housekeeper, when Jane and Dallas were growing up, and they've been best friends forever. Now Liam everyone thinks he works for SysOps, a private security company under the Sykes conglomerate. Quince Radcliffe was a fellow student with Dallas back then. Now he's an MI6 operative and unofficially one of the core members; he's well-trained in interrogation. Noah is their computer and tech guru. Antonio is the fifth member of the team.
WORR is…
…World Organization for Rescue and Rehabilitation, a private group that consults with and provides investigative support to law enforcement with its focus on rescuing kidnap victims. Bill Martin works for them.
Dallas dated Adele West, a therapist, for six months after she got divorced from Colin West, the only woman "who'd go with [Dallas] into the dark". Myra and Nina are more of Dallas' "conquests". Sarah is Lisa Sykes' best friend. Ron and Andy were the childhood friends with whom Dallas had gotten into trouble. Leo is one of the book club attendees. Damien Stark makes a cameo appearance. Peter Crowley is a real estate developer.
Henry Darcy's eighteen-year-old twins were kidnapped and sold into white slavery. Elaine Darcy is the girls' paternal grandmother with connections, and she wants to shut a vigilante group down. Liu Ming-húa is the Chinese boy who was kidnapped.
Lionel Benson is…
…a dishonorably discharged ex-Army colonel with his own vigilante group that is more interested in the money aspect.
Mueller is a German kidnapper who knew something about Dallas and Jane's ordeal. The Jailer and the Woman were the primary kidnappers and torturers. Silas Ortega was one of them. Eva Lopez's father owns land that borders Ortega's.
St. Anthony's was…
…a prestigious boarding school in England. Dean Phelps was in charge then. Donna lived in London and was a friend of Jane's.
Evening Edge is a television news magazine where Jane gets a gig to promote her book. The Cellar is a downtown kink club that Dallas visits.
The Cover and Title
The cover is graphic with its black background and the red-violet lip print filling it. The title is all lowercase and white across the lips with the series name in a paler violet at the bottom left corner. The author's name is in a soft yellow.
As you read, you will think you know The Dirtiest Secret. Trust me, you don't.
I love J. Kenner and her Stark series, but for some reason this book didn't tickle my fancy as much as her other books. I was so worried when reading it. Thinking there was something wrong with me. THIS IS J. KENNER!! But after seeing some of the same concerns in other reviews I felt more comfortable leaving my opinions.
I knew this was the beginning of the series, but when I'm over 30% into a book and we are still at the dinner party in which the book began with I was in dread mode. Inside my mind all I could think of was cliffhanger, no closure...AHHHH. There wasn't a cliffhanger, but there was some extreme loose ends and confusion.
Although hot and bookmark worthy for some "top drawer of the nightstand" fun, there were some moments that made me uncomfortable. I'm not a prude (I sell adult novelties as a living) but deeply describe adolescent sexual scenes is just a cringe factor to me. I get teenagers have sex, it happens, but reading about two fourteen year olds in the throws of passion with great detail just made me think of my daughter. I felt like a pervert. I know they were finding comfort in each other with the situation they were in, but I personally didn't need the play by play.
As I was reading the blurb I was totally drawn to the thought of two dark paths inevitably keeping them together. I was ready for the push and pull angst of two reluctant lovers. I got PLENTY of push and pull. A little too much. Both the characters reasons for not being together were given repeatedly!! It was so redundant that I didn't know if this was to convince us as a reader or the characters themselves. I think I started drinking every time I read a reason they couldn't be together, "forbidden fruit", etc *WINK* And it really isn't THAT forbidden, but I will let you decide that for yourself.
What I did love about it was the flash backs slowly revealing their memories and events that led to their current situation. I loved the suspense and thrilling aspect of a manhunt to find those responsible, but it was lost amongst the lust. One moment I was gripping my Kindle trying to figure out the mystery like an adult version of the game Clue and the next I was sent into a frenzied porno and I was never brought back to see if it was Mrs. White in the Library with the candlestick!!!
I'm in love with the story and plot and for that aspect alone I will continue to read this series. I love a sensual scene as much as the next but with such an intriguing back story/current mission I feel there is a fine line of when it comes to how much is too much.
We already met Dallas in some of the Stark/Steele books - he's one of the most famous billionaire playboys America has ever seen.... heir to a department store fortune.
But he only lets the world think he's that mega-rich playboy heir. (well, of course he does all the sexing and playboying - but it's not who he really is - it's just the picture of a guy he wants the world to think he is...)
In reality he has much more important work to do.
Ever since he and the love of his young life Jane were kidnapped 17 years ago - when they were 15 - it's his one goal in life to find and kill the people responsible for the horror they had to endure.
He's started DELIVERANCE - a group of very talented and resourceful mercenaries/agents, whose mission it is to rescue kidnapped children, and finding and executing the bad guys.
But as I said - nobody knows that.
Not even Jane. The one girl he's always loved, but will never be able to call his own.
But now her professional life as a true-crime writer, and his professional life, are about to cross paths....and not in a good way....
What will happen to Jane & Dallas?
Will there be a HEA?
Will everybody die at the end?
Or will there be a horrible Cliffhanger?
I'm not telling you that of course ☺
SUCH A GREAT & EXCITING START TO A NEW TRILOGY!!!!
I was expecting some fast romance thingy...but this is sooo much more. Much deeper and more exciting and suspensy and moving and EROTIC!!!
Phew!!
I loved every second of this book.
Dallas is so amazing - after everything he went through, he's still this amazing, but also very broken guy... He loves Jane sooo much, but for so many reasons they can never be together. But he still does everything in his power to find the bad guy that took them, so that they can both finally heal from all that happened back then... He once promised her he would always protect her - and he will never stop.
And poor Jane - so in love with Dallas - but even without all the other things stopping them from being together, she thinks she's not good enough for him, because she blames herself for some things that happened... And he thinks his dark sexual needs would be too much for her...Ugh those two - we just want to go in to this book and hug them and put them in a room together until they finally get everything they ever dreamed of...
But grrrrr - it's a trilogy - so it will take us forever to get to a HEA!!!!
I want/need/HAVETOHAVE book #2 NOW!!!!!!!!!
►►► Dirtiest Secret was an extremely erotic and sad & exciting romance. About dirty family secrets, about the past & the present, about family & friends, about love & hate & forgiveness....and revenge!!! ☺
...and even if the story wouldn't be interesting at all - you still don't want to miss reading it - you'll sooo fall in love with Dallas Sykes too☺ ☺ ☺
The cover and blurb for this one intrigued me very much when I saw it offered on Netgalley. I'm so glad it did because this was a quite an entertaining, twisted, delicious start to a trilogy I'm so excited about reading. Dirtiest Secret is my first J. Kenner book and now I've bought the Stark series so I can read that too. Her writing flows fluidly from beginning to end in this erotic, taboo tale of two very broken souls and I'm quite impressed with the depth of plot entwined with the eroticism and passion in Kenner's words.
Dallas Sykes and Jane Martin have the most interesting, sordid, and tragic of histories. I felt the depth of their connection contrasted with the depth of their secrets almost immediately. The pain and anguish they both carry easily translates from the pages to my readers mind. As the their tortured past is being remembered in their current lives, as those long-held secrets become uncovered and truths untwisted, I felt myself growing even more invested their journey. Kenner's writing throughout the entire book was testament to this with each new discovery I became more intrigued and felt the need to know more. There were some circumstances where I felt the dialogue between the two became a little more corny than I would expect compared to their dark desires but never enough to really distract me as these two characters, cloaked in hidden wants, were compelling and entertaining.
All the characters and the plot of the book were excellent. I'm fully invested in this erotic suspense story and definitely will be reading the subsequent books in the trilogy. Kenner's style of storytelling grabs your attention and takes you on quite a ride. I'm glad I dipped my reading toes in the taboo nature of this romance with this author and would urge you not to let the taboo be deciding factor on whether or not you read because the story is suspenseful, entertaining, mysterious, erotic, and depraved much beyond the taboo. And while Dirtiest Secret does end in a way that leaves you craving more it's not an ending that leaves you stressed about the next part. It's perfectly situated to give the best hope for whats to come and the next set of complicated hurdles these two people will face. Definitely a solid read for me. Can't wait for more ... I want ALL the secrets!
Jane & Dallas.
WOW! Lots of beginning info in this book. Took a while to get to the good stuff but by the last half I was hooked.
So far this isn't my favorite J. Kenner book but the bar is set pretty high. She's amazing and I love her books so much.I think for e it was the 'can't have her', 'want her', 'No its wrong' back and forth that was a little too much. I guess the issue is - I don't see them as brother and sister.
Question - two adults get married each bringing their own children to the marriage. The two children grow up and fall in love. Like soul mate love. Are they brother and sister? When not a drop of blood is shared? For me - I don't feel that they are. There is another question....these parents adopted each others children. So.....legally they are brother and sister. Still.....for the purposes of soul mate love I don't feel they are. But in the story this trips them up in their heads. They truly don't know what to do.
Jane & Dallas have had a special connection since they first met and Jane let Dallas hold onto her stuffed bunny. As time goes by, Dallas and Jane develop more "grown up" feelings for each other.
Then they are kidnapped...together. In the dark. Alone. Scared. They turn to each other and become each other's savior in the hell they are put in.
Once reality comes back can they go on? an they live without each other? Avoidance doesn't seem to be working so well. However, being together has all sorts of bad options.
The end of book one left me dying for book two - so although the first half wasn't my favorite, the end had me hooked! Can't wait for Hottest Mess!!!!
Holy wow! This was awesomely intense, passionate, and erotic. I don't even know what to say or how to explain what I'm feeling but I pretty much inhaled it. Fantastic story I couldn't put down. Loved it!
I don't normally read anything with the word "taboo" involved because I'm a chicken like that, but I love J. Kenner so I decided to go for it. I was not disappointed. Everything was so well developed with this great build that had me on the edge of my seat. When I got to that taboo thing, yup, I totally freaked out! But I trusted in the author - and I am so glad I did - because it was explained and I was good to go. I got an amazing, full story, that was well crafted. It was full of passion with strong characters who are scarred and have a lot of secrets. It was beyond great!
The story has this powerful build. Not in your face, but this low key feeling that was under my skin, making me get wrapped up in the lives of Dallas and Jane. It was awesome. Loved the character development as their histories are revealed. It was captivating, heartbreaking, loving, and sensual. I had so many questions. Some were answered but not all. I cannot wait for the next book!
Loved the characters involved. Dallas is sexy and commanding but so scarred and broken. I loved every single bit of insight into him. Jane was a wonderful woman. I loved her strength. There is this insatiable need between the two. This crazy want and desire that they fight. This push and pull that creates this amazing build full of need was crazy. There is this level of eroticism happening that I can't explain because it's so understated but it packs a powerful punch.
The writing was superb. Loved the changing POV's and how their past was recounted. There are so many well thought out, well connected details. I love all those elements, they really drew me in. There is this great mystery-suspense element happening as well and I just didn't want it to end.
I just need more. That's all there is to it. I am so glad I stepped outside of my box and tried something new because J. Kenner created an intense world full of want, need, and mystery that I can't get enough of.
My Review
4 stars!
Wow this book starts off HOT and doesn't waste any time jumping right in. Talk about taboo and forbidden romance you get that and then some.
Dallas(H) and Jane (h) grew up together and always harbored feelings for one another, when they finally get the guts to admit their attraction to each other and act upon it something horrific happens that changes their lives forever.
After years have passed they still haven't come to terms with what happened to them, each handling it in their own ways. Jane doesn't know how Dallas really is dealing with it though...
And this brings in the suspense and angst in the story. They still love each other but can't act upon it for more reasons than Jane even knows. I wanted so bad for them to just get their act together and be honest with their feelings and everything else that has been hidden. I cursed at Dallas many times in this book. As you get to know him more you really understand him and all the demons he's carrying. I thought the story of Dallas and why he is the way he is was really intriguing and made me like him a lot more than I originally did.
Jane was likable from the beginning. There were times, especially in the beginning after witnessing something I could've given her a realty check on how quickly she fell into Dallas's arms, but I get her love for him and why. I just really liked how her character was written, she had strength and vulnerability, she was intelligent, and she didn't give up on what she wanted.
There are too many spoilers in this book for me to go on anymore but it will keep you on edge until the very end.
It does end in a cliffhanger.
Pretty much from the start, I have adored every single one of J Kenner's alpha males, but I have to admit that it took me a bit to warm up to Dallas Sykes...I'm not sure if it's the smoke and mirrors persona he uses or the way I was introduced to the King of F and his need for kink, release, and escape. I wasn't privy to who Dallas Sykes truly is until later on in the book, and while I understand why Kenner introduces Dallas the way she does and doesn't lower his facade until readers see the man he wants us to see, it was difficult for me to see through all the acts, filthy words, and uncaring attitude.
But I guess that's what happens when who he truly wants, he feels he can never have...it's turned him into a man with dark urges...a man who's beyond messed up not only because he can't be with the woman he loves but also because what happened to him when he was 15 years old.
By the time the first book is finished, readers have multiple connotative meanings to sift through when it comes to the title. Dirtiest Secrets seems to deal with the forbidden feelings and the angsty relationship between Dallas and Jane, but there are also filthy lies that they individually hold and those truths have the ability to destroy so much more than just themselves.
At the end of the book, it's clear what's at stake for both Dallas and Jane but what's unclear is how their decisions, mainly Dallas', will figure into what they can and will be to one another. Their liaisons give them the connection they both crave, but it also threatens to destroy them just as much as save them.
This book was mind-blowing. J. Kenner takes you on ride through a dark, sexy and forbidden story. Dallas Sykes is known as the King of ****. He goes through women like most people drink water. He is rich and powerful. Most people don't know of his horrible past, when he was kidnapped as a teenager, except his family and closest friends. Dallas was kidnapped along with his "sister", Jane. While Dallas and Jane are not blood siblings, it just seems wrong. What Dallas and Jane went through while being held captive, no one will really understand except for them. It created a certain bond between these two that can never happen again. Well, never say never. Dallas and Jane stay away from each other, trying to get over their past in different ways but they both still long for the other. As Jane is writing her next book about children who have been kidnapped, her ex-husband tells her that they have a lead on her kidnapping from 17 years ago. Jane decides to go to Dallas to give him the news and this sets off their attraction to one another like it was still 17 years ago.
The roller coaster these two are going on is just crazy. To be so attracted to some one whom you know is wrong to be with, but can't is just heartbreaking. As Dallas and Jane decide to try and handle their issues, we are taken along on this mind-blowing ride. Without giving away any spoilers, this story was awesome. I loved the mystery around everything that is happening. I really am enjoying Dallas and Jane. These two have chemistry off the charts. I had a feeling of some of the characters who may be involved in the kidnapping, but it was still a great cliff-hanger to read. I wish July would get here so I can read the next book!
4 out of 5 stars
Jane and Dallas are young, ambitious siblings who have grown up after being adopted into a wealthy family. They also share a horrific childhood experience. And though the experience was shared, their reactions and ways to deal with it are quite different.
Dallas is a man-whore. In fact his nickname in the book cracked me up. I can’t share because it doesn’t have the nicest words, but once you read, you’ll agree that it’s perfect.
Jane is an author who writes fiction, but the truth is there is a great deal more non-fiction in her book than anyone outside of the family really knows.
And the kicker, they are in love with each other. Jane overlooked her brother’s sexual escapades:
Because when you’re in love with your brother, how many women he screws is really the least of your problems.
And Dallas doesn’t know how to share his feelings with Jane.
She was his lifelong obsession, his dirtiest secret, his deepest love.
But he couldn’t bring himself to tell her because he didn’t want to bring her down to his level, which he saw as comparable to hell.
The feelings that both characters were able to bring out in me were sometimes unbelievable. I cried. I laughed. I wanted to strangle Dallas. I wanted to hug him a minute later. I really felt so much while reading and I appreciate what Ms Kenner put forth in this book.
This wasn’t my favorite by this author. Normally I love everything about a J Kenner book, but this one seemed to have too many details on the sexual relations. BUT with that said, I can’t wait to read the next one and see where the story goes!
After reading other reviews, I wasn't really sure if I'd like this series. I loved the Stark Trilogy, so I had high hopes. I honestly hated Dallas in the beginning of the book. He is a playboy, or so it seems, well, he kinda still is even when you get the whole story. Once you get to know more about him and why he is the way he is though, you can't help but feel compassion and sadness for him and Jane and what they went through as kids. I can't imagine how much that would break any of us if we dealt with the same thing.
I can't say too much without giving away the plot unfortunately, but there's a lot going on in this book. I really had a hard time keeping all the characters straight in the beginning - there were just too many names introduced at once, so I had a hard time figuring out who was related to who. I definitely didn't know this book would be about a taboo relationship, so that caught me off guard. It did move a lot slower than I'd have liked, but it kept me reading. The ending of this book was a cliffhanger and one that I didn't see coming, so I can't wait to continue reading on to find out what happens next.
Triggers: Step Sibling romance, torture, kidnapping, power exchange
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
Hmm, this is my first taste of Kenner's style. This was well written, sensual, dirty and hard to read, all wrapped in to one.
I enjoyed the characters - they were well developed and complex. However, I found that Dallas was so sheltered in who he projected that I couldn't really related to him all that well. Then you have his past - which we get to see snippets from, which only creates more of an air of mystery around him. Who is this damaged man who loves Jane, but it with so many different women?
Then you have Jane. She was somewhat of an enigma the whole story. Yes, there was an attraction, but I didn't fully grasp the relationship between her and Dallas right away, because of the glimpses we receive. However, once I fully understood, it became abundantly clear that Jane has only really ever loved Dallas.
Both will find themselves, loose themselves, love and feel loss throughout this entire story. And, while this didn't have a ton of heat between the characters, you could feel their connection.
Jane and Dallas are brother and sister by law and by adoption but not by blood. They have a special bond and when they both are 15 they get kidnapped and go through a traumatizing experience. During their abduction they get close even though it isn't 'right'! After getting rescued they take distance and handle it both in a different ways.
Now 17 years later Dallas is known as The King of F#*ck, a reputation he has been building for years. He also started an organization 'Deliverance' with a few men he thrusts to find kidnapped children and hopefully also track the people who kidnapped and tormented Jane and himself. Jane is an author who wants to fight illegal organizations who endanger children with their rescue attempts.
Can they keep their distance? Will their 'Dirtiest Secret' get revealed? Will there be justice after all this time? I'm looking forward to the next book in this series
I have read the Stark Trilogy from this author and loved all 3 books! This one is a winner again and receives 3.5 stars. It is a hot, suspenseful romance. But for me personally the first part dragged too long. It took them too long to finally admit that they can't stay apart. After that the book is a hot read with some kinky pieces. I hope to get more kinky stuff in the next book ;)
Dirtiest Secrets surprised the hell out of me. In the best of ways. Based off the synopsis, I was expecting a forbidden romance and I absolutely got that. But in no way did I see it being forbidden for the reasons it is.
Vague much? Well, yeah…only because I don’t want to spoil anything about this book. I want you to be able to experience the same thrills I did. Go in blind people, you won’t regret it!
I can say this much, though.
Kenner wrote Dallas in such a way that you are enthralled with his character from the first page he graces. He’s sexy and extremely controlling but not quite what you think he is. While the story begins with a very steamy scene, don’t take that as the overall theme of this one. It is sexy, it is not erotica.
When Jane enters, the story immediately becomes so much more. It’s complex, it’s heartbreaking, it’s exciting, it’s multi-faceted. Kenner gives well placed flash backs into Jane and Dallas’ past, giving insight into their strangled relationship, yet it never overpowers the current day tale.
If you’re a fan of romantic suspense but like it steamy as well, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with Dirtiest Secrets. There is a great balance between the characters, the intrigue and the romance. I’m very excited for more!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review, so here goes...
I'm about a third of the way through this book, and frankly it's been a struggle to keep going. I find I have very little care for what happens and doubt I'll finish it to find out.
The style of writing is annoying in that I feel as if I've been plunked into the middle of a plot I'm supposed to follow, and yet I can't because bits and pieces come to light as I go. That is frustrating.
It is also frustrating to see two main characters' push and pull toward each other. I'm supposed to be scandalized, I guess, that they are adoptive siblings who are desperately attracted to each other? I don't buy that one for a minute. So what??! And they share a bond over having been kidnapped together and apparently somehow tortured during their captivity? So far I haven't seen enough of that to tell whether their trauma even makes sense.
So, the people in the book have confusing personalities, the plot unfolds poorly, and the main male character has created a very strange persona for himself that is not his true nature. We don't know why he's done that either.
So all in all, I just don't give a darn. I like a book that sucks me into the plot and makes me care about the main characters. This one misses by a mile. So sorry.
J Kenner is known for her alpha dominant heroes and Dirty Secret certainly features one of those. However, this may be the rawest, most angst-filled love story yet.
However, readers should be cautioned to only undertake this emotional journey if they love dark romances and subjects that broach taboo and forbidden themes. That said, like smoke and mirrors, not everything is what it seems, so you will want to give this story a chance to play out before drawing any conclusions.
Dallas Sykes is a famous, rich bad boy who is an infamous player. All the women want to be with him--even if he doesn't do repeats--just to be seen with him, except for one: Jane.
Jane still longs for the comfort and feelings that only Dallas can give her. He was there during her/their worst hour and she still regrets leaving. But with a past as twisted as theirs, can their ever be a second chance?
In the end, the tortured beginnings of this unfortunate couple won me over and had me rooting for them to finally find happiness. Ultimately, however, only you can decide if their union is a sin or sinfully wicked. And be forewarned, to get the full story you will need to read the entire trilogy.
Dallas Sykes-Jane Sykes Brother and Sister, but not Brother and Sister! Dallas is adopted by his Uncle who is married to Jane's Mother, and he also adopted Jane too.They were raised mostly as siblings and always had more intense feelings, (Sexual Feelings) than that of a brother and sister. When Jane was15 they were kidnapped. Dallas was the intended target, but Jane was with Dallas when it went down, so she was taken too. They have been estranged since the kidnapping. They want to be together but Dallas' Uncle said they were brother and sister and if they acted on their feelings they would be disinherited, and to him it was incest even though they shared no blood. Secrets came out about the kidnapping and what happened while they were held, and what was done to them in captivity.This was a good book and the story builds slowly with the suspense, more bits come out about the family, the relationship, the kidnapping with so many twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Dallas and his group are involved in things that Jane has no idea about, now that they are adults. This story
ends in what I call a semi cliff hanger, A key piece of shocking information comes to light leaving the reader wanting the rest of the story! Now we wait til the next book in the series releases! I read and reviewed this for Net Galley.
I LOVE the characters! Dallas Sykes is a force of nature. He overwhelms everyone in his life, but spends most of his time creating and maintaining an image he hopes everyone believes. Jane Martin, Dallas's sister in name only, is quiet in the beginning, but eventually spreads her wings and becomes the woman she's always wanted to be. Despite their forbidden relationship- taboo only because of the circumstances of their upbringing- they have a connection that can't be ignored. The sexual tension and suspense that builds all the way through the book is hard hitting.
The support cast is also phenomenal. Liam is a solid, loyal friend who I would love to know more about. He's got insight into both Jane and Dallas since they all grew up together and he's not afraid to wield it. Without him, well.....I won't give it away. Brody is also a great friend and knows how to help Jane step out of her comfort zone. The parents all have their role to play as well and depending on the moment, made me want to strangle them most of the time.
And the ending? Well, again, won't give it away, but it left me screaming and stomping my feet. I can't believe I was left hanging....however, I was left with a hint of something even darker than I anticipated. Waiting for the next book is going to be pure torture....how ironic.
I love J. Kenner, she's a passionate writer. Dirtiest Secret is dark, dangerous, well-written and developed. The first half of the story is complex, filled with character development that is fundamental as the story progresses. The second half is filled with intrigue and revelations.
"Because what was perfect and right and saved us in the dark is forbidden in the light."
Dallas Sykes uses his playboy status as a cover. He's on a secret mission to right the wrong and protect his sister, Jane Martin. Since their kidnapping they have kept their distance. Their siblings, not by blood but by adoption. Although they are attracted to one another, their relationship is forbidden. What they shared while they were kidnapped must stay in the dark.
The first half of the story was filled with the character development. There was a lot of information and connecting the dots. The second half of the story was fast paced and intriguing. Dallas's revelation is at first intriguing but soon too familiar, another character with dark secrets because of his sordid past. It's also a little awkward, although they are not siblings by blood, Dallas and Jane are connect by their childhood. This is only the first book of the S.I.N. series. There are plenty of secrets to be revealed and bad guys to catch. 4 Stars!
Dallas Sykes has quite the reputation as the gorgeous and insanely powerful billionaire who rules in both the boardroom and the bedroom.
That’s exactly what he wants the world to see. They will never know that in his heart of hearts he’s really just a ruined man who will never have the one thing that he desires the most – his sister Jane.
Jane Martin has spent years trying to stay away from her adopted brother. Even as children, they shared a special bond that transcended everything and it was the one thing that saved them during the most horrific time of their lives.
Both were kidnapped and held captive in the dark with nothing to cling to except each other. Not knowing if they would live or die, they gave in to their raging desire to be together – and now it’s the secret that’s tearing them apart.
Living their lives without the other half of their souls is no longer an option. But Dallas is as obsessed with revenge as Jane is with justice and nothing is going to stand in the way.
Dirtiest Secret is J. Kenner’s most emotional book to date. She masterfully combines all of her hallmark erotic heat with a storyline that is absolutely riveting. It’s shocking, gut-wrenching and down right addictive.
Watch out Damien Stark. Dallas Sykes is taking over…
Title: Dirtiest Secret
Author: J. Kenner
Genre: Romance
Format: Ebook
Pages: 320
Rating: 4
Setting: New York
Main Characters: Jane and Dallas
Summary: Jane and Dallas are madly in love with each other and have been pretty much since they met. Unfortunately they became siblings through adoptions and new marriages and can’t be together. Due to a kidnapping when they were in their teens they were able to use that as an excuse to avoid each other and not raise too many questions. Now, it’s a different story.
Thoughts: The fact that Jane and Dallas are siblings (not by blood) turned me off a little. I wasn’t sucked into the story which is not usually the case with J. Kenner books. That being said, I did enjoy the book and I look forward to the rest of the series to find out more secrets and hopefully the reason behind the kidnapping. If you overlook the taboo that isn’t really a taboo it is a well written story that leaves the reader with more questions about the kidnapping and desperately wanting answers. I also hope that Liam gets his own HEA, I would love to hear his story.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work and voluntarily chose to write a review.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book!
I love a new series! Plus J. Kenner is a "new to me" author. A win win situation for me!
I instantly fell in love with Dallas! Absolutely LOVE books about rich, powerful, playboys and that's exactly what he is! He's very "in charge" in bed and at his job. However, he's got a BIG secret that inside makes him not so confident.
Jane and Dallas were kidnapped when they were younger and held captive in the dark. And our story begins!! I just can't in good conscience say anymore because it would spoil the story.
Just know this, it was a great story!! I loved the "darkness" of it and the erotica portion of it!! This is going to be a good series!! And I definitely will be reading more of J. Kenner's books!
4.5 scandalously star-crossed stars! Wow-after only reading a short description, I was not expecting a story like this from Ms. Kenner, but it definitely shows her range as an author. As a follow-on from the Stark/Stark International series, I was expecting similar billionaire playboys, but this storyline is just outright dark and scandalous. I loved how confusing she made the first half of the book. I kept going back and rereading to see if I had missed something vital, which I didn't, but it certainly kept me on my toes.
The H was heartbreakingly broken, but so gentle and the perfect amount of alpha. A great character, and a very unique one to this genre. The h, while seemingly strong, was also just as broken. The only question now is how will they get back to what they had before? Is it even possible?
Although we have a better idea at the end, we are rewarded with another crazy cliffhanger, as only J. Kenner can deliver. Good thing Book 2, Hottest Mess, is being released in July! I can't wait to get more Dallas and Jane!
Dallas and Jane have gone through a traumatic experience when they were teenagers, and it messed them up. Now they rarely talk, and Dallas is an infamous playboy who has any woman he wants. He knows Jane better than anyone, but she thought she could move on by staying away. But circumstances come into play that has them together once more, and Jane has decided she's going to make him hers. He's not making it easy, although there's nothing more that he wants. Will Jane be able to push through his wall of objections?
I had a hard time at first getting into this story. It seemed to confuse me a bit. But as I kept reading, it became addicting to me, and I couldn't put it down. The character development is very good, with an intense, somewhat taboo, and well written storyline that flows smoothly. The chemistry is off the charts flammable leading to explosive sexy scene goodness. J. Kenner does a great job weaving suspenseful layers of OMG moments, and I still haven't figured out the plot completely yet. I'm very glad I read this story, and I CANNOT WAIT for the next book after this ending. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
So many secrets, so to review this without giving anything away will be hard. This is a story about forbidden love. The two grew up together and I loved that Julie gave us glimpses of the past so we got to know their background together. I enjoyed their chemistry, how `1they just couldn't stay away from each other. They both went through an event when they were younger (trying not to give anything away) that bonds them together. The person behind that event is probably the biggest secret of the series and I loved how Julie made that known but didn't make that the focal of this book and at the same time had be wondering if different characters were involved. Dallas is super hot, but he's not the guy everyone thinks he is. I really loved Jane, she took a horrible thing and turned it into a positive to help both her and others. We get to know many secrets through out this book and I can't wait to see what else is relieved!
What I initially thought was going to happen did not and dang was I surprised. Everything that you want in a story from romance to suspense to thinking you know exactly what is going to happen and not was in this book. J. Kenner given us a story that will always make you wonder.
Dallas is a playboy but for me the reasoning behind the things that he does is somewhat valid. His story will grab your heart and sling it around to the point of questioning of all people why Dallas, He's sincere and his heart is so big but his mission is bigger and he needs to succeed in the mission.
Jane and Dallas has a different type of relationship. It's somewhat warm but strained. We get to see inside each of their heads and understand what was going on with each of them. Jane brings everything to light. It's heartbreaking, mysteriously and enthralling.
J Kenner's previous book -DEEPEST KISS introduced us to Dallas Sykes, a business colleague of Damian Stark's. Dallas had a small role in that book, but J teased us with the knowledge that Dallas was getting his own book - in fact 3!. DIRTIET SECRET takes the reader on one hell of a ride and leaves us wanting more - just like Dallas's women! (pun intended lol).
As teenagers, Dallas and his adopted sister Jane faced several weeks of torture when they were kidnapped by people still uknown to them. Through this darkest time, they formed a strong bond which led them to consummating their love. Now , years later Dallas is still in love with his "sister" but unable to act on his feelings. Jane feels the same way but is finding it hard to break through Dallas's tough exterior.
I'm so looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book!
I'm actually on the fence about this one. The whole I can't have you but want you and trying to stay away from each other was consistent through the book and drove me nuts. While I love this author, this was not one of my favorites but I will still read the rest of the series. Dallas and Jane are both damaged protagonists and have severe emotional scars that may never heal, however, there is an unbreakable bond between them. In her trademark style, Ms. Kenner has created breathtaking erotic scenes here that no fan or newbie of her books could pass up.
An Adult Contemporay Romance.
Although I liked it, I didn't like it enough to worry about following this series. The whole thing is just too labyrinthine for me. I love a good twist and turn in my stories, but this one just didn't do it for me.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from the publisher. This is an intense novel filled with action, mystery, intrigue, suspense, danger and love. Dallas and Jane are in love but it’s a forbidden love. As they try to fight their attraction inquiry into their past brings them closer. Dallas is determined to get revenge and cope with the after effects of his past. The author takes you back and forth from the present to the past and the story flows. This is a cliffhanger. Recommended read.
Oh, sweet Jeezus….I feel like I have just gotten off of a roller coaster. The really good kind with a huge hill and then lots and lots of twisty turns. Where you can’t catch your breath or when you do, it’s in gasps or quick pants. But it wasn’t a roller coaster, it just the wave of emotions I felt as I was reading Dirtiest Secret, the first book in J. Kenner’s S.I.N. Series.
Kenner is one of my very favorite authors when it comes to dirty, erotic suspense and let me just say that with Dirtiest Secret she has dialed it all up to MAX. This book is written in an alternating POV and we get full effect of Dallas Sykes and Jane Martin’s story. This story pulses and I will tell you, once I started it, I didn’t put it down.
We’ve met Dallas Sykes in a few of the previous Stark books. Getting to know him in this book is like lifting the cover off of a high-performance sports car and then getting to drive it. The experience is so much better and different when you are up close and personal. On the surface, Dallas Sykes is the dream of which gossip pages are built, but underneath, he has a fierce heart that burns with a fire to protect those who are most vulnerable. This Dallas is a complex puzzle and lucky us, we get three attempts to solve him.
Jane Martin is strong, determined and most importantly, she is Dallas’ key – she sees through him and understands him better than anyone. Try as he might, he can’t hide from her. She is a woman that is more than in charge of her own sexuality and has harnessed its power to heal. What I loved above all about Jane? She was a fighter and an advocate for those who have faced down ugliness and evil in world, giving them a voice and comfort. In those moments, she stole my heart completely.
As I said, this book has twists and turns. J.Kenner manages them with a very deft hand. I am always impressed with the level of detail that she provides her books – she does an amazing amount of research and weaves it in to the plot in a way that never feels forced. It is just another reason why I love reading her books.
My appetite for Dallas and Jane’s story is fully whetted. I cannot wait for the next installment in the S.I.N. series, Hottest Mess. Add these books to your TBR and join me in the wicked, wonderful world of J. Kenner’s making.
