Ok, I bought this off a whim, seemed totally interesting and naughty. I am so intrigued with reading historical erotic novels with BDSM. This one made me go WOW! I read it in a few hours which technically I probably should have gotten more sleep, but for me it was that good that I deprived myself of sleep to finish this most awesome story! I will be getting the rest of the books in this series!

Rape is unnaceptable! Always! (Even if it's husband and wife, NO!) This book made it even worse by the MC wanting more after she got raped. The only reason I didn't stop reading right there was because it was already very close to the end.

Besides that, the sex scenes are really intense and graphic. There's no limit here, everyone has indiscriminate sex with anyone else, no matter the sex of the person anything goes even group sex. Though that wasn't specifically a bad thing, the theme of the book was bad. The historical innacuracies had me cringing. If an author is gonna write about a time period, they need more than just fancy speech and fashion to fit the time. Spoilers: A woman, marries for convenience a man around colonial times but they don't consumate the marriage. Somehow, although she's supposed to be inexperienced at a time where women were supposed to be virgins at their weddings, the author changes her mind at some point and the MC is not a virgin anymore. Also, the author writes about a little black girl whose mom was sold and taken to America as a slave but the buyer didn't want the little girl because she was just a kid so she ends up in an orphanage. Sorry, what? Did the author take a history class in high school or do any research before writing this? Slavers didn't care if the slave was a child or not! A slave child still meant money and would have never been abandoned at an orphanage.

Obviously, I think the book was poorly written with a completely unacceptable scene and major obvious historical innacuracies and won't ever read another book from this author.

Harrietta got married to Vale whom she had know since small as he was a friend of her deceased brother. It was supposed to be a marriage of convenience but it turned into so much more. Go on the journey with while they find love for each other. Loved the story.

Well written storyline with well defined characters that hooked me into their story from the very beginning and kept me captivated until the very end!

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of Mastering the Marchioness by Em Brown. I wasn't sure how I would like this book but once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. It's sexy, a bit of kinky and amazing all rolled into one book. I absolutely loved Vale! It was wonderful to see exactly what would come of Harrietta and Vale since they only had a marriage based on convince and not love and they agreed to that from the beginning. It was a great read and I enjoyed and loved this book and can't wait for the next part of the series.

Harrietta and Vale are both independent strong individuals. In their marriage of convenience, they have an understanding not to interfere in each other's life. Then they both end up in the "Cavern of Pleasures" (where everyone wears masks) -- Vale recognizes (his innocent bride) Harrietta and claims her as his sub intending to scare her from ever coming back. Harrietta however, is tough. And stubborn. And curious... And so the games begin! Disclosure: I received and am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.

Absolutely amazing. I loved this book in every way. It was sexy, erotic, sad, loving, indearing, tense, and hard to describe. Harrietta was a strong, gentle, loving, caring woman. Vale was strong, stubborn, loyal, determined, dominant man. Vale married Harrietta out of loyalty to her brother, but things quickly changed once she entered Madame Botreaux's Cavern. I was given an advanced copy for an honest review

Close the door, turn down the lights and get prepared for a panty soaking experience! Vale and Hetty's story hooked me from page one. The cavern is a place where you can give in to your wildest fantasies and darkest thoughts. To be able to find love while giving up control of your mind and body is an awesome experience.

I was expecting a historical romance novel, much in the same vein of a Wendy Vella book. But this was most definitely NOT about romance. Had to stop reading after a handful of chapters. It’s a 50 shades of grey on steroids. Don’t recommend!
