MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS - Big fan of this writer, not so much this series...so far. I will definitely read book #2 to find out if it will head in a better direction. Eden is intriguing & I connected to her the most, even though her life seemed doomed from the start. Her mother wanted to abort her, tried to drown her until an angel "Jumper" came to her rescue. Eden has a mental power to bend people to her will, and usually she's very naughty in her suggestions. L - AKA Legion - is a fallen angel who is all demon at this point but he has spent hundreds of years saving lost souls like Eden to try to earn his right back into heaven. Eden quickly finds out that her nightmares are a foreshadowing of how she will end the world. Legion & his six demon friends mostly support Eden but L is a little confusing. Is he drawn to Eden because he knew the Jumper angel inside of her? L will go to great lengths to save Eden but she isn't having it - she will be the martyr. There is one very hot, hot, hot scene when Eden misunderstands L making out with someone & when she goes to hide in the bathroom she finds an orgy right in front of her eyes that draws her right in, with L feeling every emotion she's going through. The orgy was incredible but now that I know it was really a dark fantasy to screw with Eden that kind of ruins it. Oh well...

MILD SPOILERS - Very dark, highly erotic - MATURE only, often confusing, blatantly incorrect assertions and odd characterizations, an interesting premise if you can get through the violence and lack of information, plus a major cliffhanger. I understand that a story must have some tension, some mystery, to hold readers attention, but there is a fine line between that and being both too vague and downright confusing. This book crossed that line. From the vague cover blurb to the prologue, Jennings keeps you hanging on with a fascinating premise but little real information. That would be okay if it didn't carry on like that for the majority of the book.

Keep in mind, I tend to give a harsh critique, especially with high star reviewed books that don't fit the acclaim. It's both for you, the potential reader, and possibly the author if she has a thick skin and is interested in addressing certain inconsistencies and loss of continuity. So with that in mind, know that I won't be focused on the 'good' so much. But know that it is there. That's the extra star.

Early on, we have the kidnapping, betrayal, and assault, and then threats by our "Seven" to murder Eden. Then, all of a sudden, they invite her out to dinner, act all normal, and expect her to just be cool with it. Not only does Eden not ask pertinent questions, she acts like a victim, but never anything more. Not long after being allowed out of her "prison" bedroom without explanation, Lilith asks, "What's wrong, Eden?" Like Eden is somehow the one in the wrong for being pensive and grumpy about being freaking kidnapped. What? She's supposed to be okay with that? Worse yet - Eden perpetuates that attitude throughout the book. It seems like the kidnapping trope in dark romance is a big thing these days and its mandatory that the victim not only gets Stockholm Syndrome in a day and feels bad about thinking ill of her kidnappers. That's not dark. That's just ridiculous.

When the plot finally starts flowing, there are moments when I either cringed from a major "eww gross" factor (and I enjoy some pretty dark reads) and or was scratching my head. Be warned many of the sex scenes are very violent and, to me, downright nasty. Unnecessarily so. They pressed into the realm of fetishes on par with crush videos. I know the story is going for a really dark gritty feel, but it became really uncomfortable at times.

Eden jumped to conclusions or made huge assumptions that weren't actually written in the text. Very confusing. Too often important things are just not explained in any detail, just left hanging. Or they are explained later, but to the degree that one wonders if it wasn't just an editorial error. Keeping the reader in the dark for no reason certainly couldn't do any good for the plot or tension. There are even things that the narrator herself couldn't possibly know (a major risk with taking on the 1st person point-of-view).

Eden was a very unlikable character, in my opinion. I personally hate when the main character is described as this tough girl, but she turns out as anything but. When Legion forces Eden to do something under duress, later she takes the blame for it completely. Huh? Eden cries often. Worse, almost every single scene where she gets a surprise that she doesn't like, she runs away. A bit pathetic, but worse, predictable. Eventually, every time something happened, I just knew she was going to run away. Again. Speaking of predictability, if they are about to get the least bit intimate, someone will always knock on the door. Just a given.

Other characters weren't portrayed much better. We have Legion, who's supposed to be the baddest baddie of all bads (until we see a character from Jennings other series, then the author just seems twitterpated with her last two leads, she makes such a big deal out of them.) All we really know about Legion is that he has "swirling silver eyes." He's more moody than a teenage girl, and he's celibate - the reason for which is drawn out as a tension builder.

Other characters like Cain (yup, the original Genesis murderer), is no better than a toddler! When he's mad about something, "he shouts, flailing his arms." Yes, that's an exact quote from the text. So, I'm supposed to believe that the Earth's original murder, the oldest human besides his dead parents, hasn't mentally matured beyond puberty? No. Just no.

Then there were mythological blatant inaccuracies, which make me doubt the author's research. For instance, a scene when Eden meets the Seven. She thinks, "Toyol. Lilith. Andras."Then the next paragraph has Eden claiming that " Daily bible study was mandatory while living with my mother." Okay so, not even ONE of them is mentioned in the Bible (and, yes, Bible is supposed to be capitalized). Heck, not even Lucifer is mentioned by name. Only Cain and Legion (and Legion certainly didn't have a body.) The other seven seem to have been taken from the 'Ars Goetica' (or its Wikipedia demon list). Lilith and Jinn are mainly from Islam and Judaism. And Lilith is renowned for her red hair. Not blond. Sorry, but those kinds of easy research questions are critical to me as a reader. That's where authorial credibility comes from. We, as readers, are only so willing to suspend disbelief. Never assume your readers are gullible or uneducated.

Finally, the language. While the language was often poetic and highly descriptive, it was so "purple" at times that I lost or missed the meaning altogether. Not dramatic, Melodramatic. Ick. Some of the purple phrases were simple, like a voice having "an ancient tone." What is that anyway? Or during the love scene, "...heated little daggers stabbing his flexed thighs, he roars unto the moon..." What does that even mean? YOu know what, nevermind. I don't want to know. I found myself asking that way too often. Honestly it ruined the immersion. At times the language was powerful and beautiful. Then it went over some invisible line and became vague. "Forged of the earth and elements, yet he moves in shadow. Darkness molds to his daunting frame..." O-kaay.

All in all, I was a bit disturbed by this book, but I did enjoy it most of the time. I adore all things Nephilim and Fallen Angel related, so that helps. Why it got so many great reviews (and how fast, since the book has only been released for two months) I don't understand. Something doesn't quite add up to me. However, the premise is definitely unique and as a pure curiosity read, it was interesting. I may read the sequel if it's on Kindle Unlimited. Otherwise, I won't pay for it directly. It could have been worse, but likewise could have been so much better, especially with a bit more care with editing or critical beta reading.

If you're not a stickler for details and clean love scenes, logic, self-worth, and courage in your heroines, and a real ending, then you might really enjoy this book. If not, reader beware.

S.L. Jennings weaves a story together like none other. This is something I expected when starting this book. What I didn't expect is the connection I would have with these characters. Everybody is gray. There is no black, and white. They each live by doing what they think is best, even when it isn't.

Nothing worth having comes easy. There will be struggle. A tug of war more internal than not. Complications will arise. Favors given. Lives at risk.
Evil verses...less evil.

This is my new favorite PNR series, and I can NOT wait for book 2!

This book was so powerful!!! They should make it into a freaking movie!
Eden has always known that she is different. Growing up without a family, the only person who loves her is her sister.
She works hard to support herself but she doesn't know that her life is about to change. One night is enough to turn her world upside down. The ability she has always kept a secret will become a weapon against her. She is taken, captured and her life is in danger. Eden must die but when her captors go out of their way to keep her alive, she knows that something is not right.
The Se7en have the ability to unleash hell on earth, but instead they sin so others can find absolution. Labelled as demons and monsters, they have a very imprtant mission. Everything in their tight circle changes when L, their leader, decides to save Eden from death.
Is she a powerful asset or a very precious pawn in the war between heaven and hell?
Eden knows that L is dangerous, but what happens when his role becomes blurred. Attraction binds her to him, but he resists.
Follow these characters as they fight for salvation.
It has been a while since I've read such a good paranormal book. The author has created an amazing world full of demons and fallen angels. The settings and characterization are out of this world. The book has this gritty quality about it that draws you in from page one. S.L. Jennings has created a fantastic set of heroes that vibrate with mystery and intrigue!

The chemistry between our main characters is fantastic. Their push and pull relationship is enticing and will leave you biting your nails in anticipation.

I cannot wait for the next book. Beware of the cliffy though! I need the next book now! One of the best books of the summer for me!

SL Jennings' BORN SINNER has brought back my love for PNR books. I could not put this down. Every single page was intense and had me on the edge. I felt like I was watching a movie the entire time.
The characters are unique yet relatable-- and they're not even mortal, I know.
Jennings wove an intricate tale of angels, demons, warlocks and otherworldlies (I'm making this a word). And while there were many facets and you can't be drunk to read this, it's not confusing or disconnected. In fact you continue to get drawn in and as Jennings reveals a little more each turn of the page into this dark world, you can't help but be in awe. There are many stories out there about the Fallen and archangels, etc., yet Jennings made BORN SINNER her own and something different. I absolutely, unequivocally enjoyed every single character and their role in the story. The sexual tension in the book was crazy and I'm so glad that SL Jennings did not fill this story with wild demon sex. The slow burn was exactly what this story needed. And damn L is hotter than H3LL's hot tub. Sexy doesn't do him justice.
SL Jennings painted a mural in vibrant color with her words. This is definitely a series not to be missed.

I wouldn't consider myself a full pledged lover of PNR but when a good one comes along, I love it...when S.L Jennings writes one, it grabs me...I loved her Dark Light series very much..in fact it's amongst my top reads of all time. So when I found out she was writing another PNR I was really, really excited to read it...because not just any PNR will do for me.
Right from the prologue it had my attention, you knew that Eden was something special..I immediately liked her. L, even at his worst I liked him too...you just knew he was more than he let on. They are so hot together, even when they are against each other.
Now add Lucifer, hot damn...a certain bathroom scene will always be one of my top favs now.
Don't want to ruin a certain surprise but SQUEE!!!!! i never expected that and it was the best surprise EVER!!!!
This book had me from page one and right up to the end...it kept you thinking, kept you on your toes, had the hot..hot...hot factor.
Can't wait for the next book..

Meet the Se7en, Born Sinners, who really want to make you sin SO BAD!

S.L. Jennings delivered again an intriguing, sucks-you-right-in paranormal romance that ended with a cliffhanger (duh, it says it, book one in the series), which made me crave more. I adore her paranormal books; they're refreshing, alluring, and packed with a plot that doesn't allow you to stop reading.

I've to admit it isn't an easy read, you don't figure things out right away. I felt confused, curious, relieved and again confused. Then at the end I felt a whole lot surprised - I love this!! You feel a bit confused on the why, how, and again, on why but hang in there, it's def worth it.
I loved the whole concept of this book. Give me fallen (hot) Angels, Warlocks etc. any time and I'm one happy reader.

About the characters. The main character, Eden, is doomed from the beginning. Seriously, since she was little her life literally sucked. Her father left because he thought her mom is nuts (which is true), her mom also tried to kill her several times, she's no friends, is a loner and has a pretty fancy gift. A gift that is more a curse, she hates it and the baggage that comes with it. Not to mention her nightmares, a special gift from a mysterious someone *shudders*.

Add L and the Se7en into it and you've a bunch of interesting characters. It's unclear if they want her dead or alive - it's all very complicated but OH SO GOOD! Especially L and Eden's 'relationship' is somewhat hard to figure out. Calling it complicated would be an understatement but both can't deny the pull they feel to another and the truth about each other.

"I was born to be a weapon. A murderer."

Prepare yourself to get sucked into an unseen world! If you enjoy paranormal books then this is my current TOP RECOMMENDATION for you!

The Paranormal Gods have blessed me with another book from S.L. Jennings. I am a HUGE paranormal fan and loved her Dark Light Series. When I heard the news she was writing a new series I was so excited!! Jennings has such a way with words and the paranormal stories she creates are just out of this world. I felt myself sucked into this world and didn't want to leave.

We have Eden who her whole life has felt "odd" and her mom was convinced she had the devil in her! Life was easy but she was getting by with her sister. One day she is kidnapped by the Se7en and everything changes. I loved these group of characters. Everyone has different personalities and is unique in their own way. Let talk about "L" aka Legion. Man oh man my poor demon who has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

''You make me want to sin"

The back and forth between Legion and Eden. My goodness I couldn't take it anymore with them two!! Legion was so conflicted and didn't want to act on his attraction and man you could cut the sexual tension with a knife! I won't spoil to much but you will need to be in a cool room while reading because we have some scorching scenes.

Let's talk about that ending with that trifling heifer Lilith! She had me fooled and I wanted to slap the taste out of her mouth!! I can't wait for the next book to see what happens!! I enjoyed seeing Gabriella and Dorian. Made me want to read The Dark Light Series all over again!! S.L. Jennings has done it again and so happy she's back to writing Paranormal!! Thank You for making this PNR girl happy again!!

Suspense, action, adventure, hot supernatural heroes!! What more could you want?

I've been a long time fan of S.L. Jennings' work; her PNRs, in particular. I remember reading the Dark Light series, years ago, and being absolutely beside myself at how awesome it was. Naturally, when word was out about another PNR from S.L., I was ALL OVER IT!

I firmly believe that PNRs require a very delicate balance which many authors fail to find. Making sure the story line is consistent and is believable is extremely hard to do. S.L. Jennings is a master at this in her PNRs.

The story starts off a little slower in pace, but, it's necessary in order to allow the reader to adapt the the new elements and for the plot to build, but once this story picks up, it comes at you full force!

There were plenty of action-packed scenes, suspenseful scenes, and scenes that contained so much angst, you could practically feel your heart hammering out of your chest. It was a supernatural roller coaster of pure awesomeness!

S.L. is not afraid to pack in the gritty details, without making them appear lewd. It will leave you on the edge of your seat, biting your nails until the very last page!

I am eagerly awaiting the next book! I CANNOT WAIT!

“Somewhere in a distant corner of my mind, I remember that I should hate him. Should fear him. But now I fear something else entirely. I fear myself.”

An intense and captivating read that will hold you hostage!! Born Sinner by S.L. Jennings was a phenomenal start of what I know will be an amazing series. Jennings has masterfully created a story that was dark, gritty, intense, and yet wildly intriguing as she brought forth and created a world where humans, angels and demons coexist. As secrets, truths, and the unknown slowly unravels, Jennings allows readers to feel the intensity and tangible connections of her characters. I know I am being vague with my review but in all honesty, this is one story where readers need to experience and read this literary world that Jennings created of humanity and supernaturals. These characters were written so flawlessly as Jennings crafts a story where readers are presented with a dilemma of sinner vs. saint, good vs. evil. Heaven vs. Hell, and angels vs. demons. With these underlying tones of mystery, Jennings has left readers wondering what will happen with Eden and L. I need book two ASAP!!

This book played at morality. L made all sorts of claims and talked about sin, but as soon as sin was available- he went right for it. That made the book- well, not great. I am not a fan of characters that go back on their beliefs. Why write a character one way, only to have him fundamentally change so you can call the book romance?

Too many typos and too many character flaws. Not to mention- the theology was wrong. The author didn’t seem to do a lot of research. While I wasn’t expecting Shakespeare, I still wanted better than this.

This is a fast paced, well written wonderful ride. Every page had me at the edge of my seat. This is the first book I've read by Jennings and she's definitely in my top favorite now. The characters and world building are extremely well crafted in this dark and suspenseful romance. I definitely agree with other readers that I would have been bummed if the next installment weren't out by the time I finished reading but thankfully, it is and I'm downloading it in about 2 seconds....

UPDATE:
So after reading the second one (which is awesome btw) I quickly discovered there are more than 2 books in the series and the second, End of Eden, leaves you with a manor Cliffhangar as well. This series is incredibly binge-worthy so my feathers were a little ruffled with my impatience at that. Read at your own risk ;)
If you'd like to wait until the full series is out (like I wish I did), you might want to check out the Dark Light series first. The main characters in that series have recurring roles in the Se7en series, and this series kind of gives away spoilers on their story that made me wish I'd have read it first.

*I received an ARC from the Author in exchange for an honest review*

Thank you so so very much Ms.Jennings for sending me a copy of Born Sinner!! I am honored and extremely grateful!! You don't know how happy I was to see this pop up on my Kindle!! Thank you again! :)

After reading the synopsis I was instantly intrigued and I knew I'd have to get my hands on a copy because it sounded right up my alley!! This was my first time reading Ms.Jennings work and I absolutely loved every sinful moment of it!! It was a thrilling rollercoaster ride from beginning to end with no slow moments in sight. I thought I'd read a little bit of it before bed when I discovered it on my Kindle but night faded into day and before I realized it I had devoured it entirely. Born Sinner is worth the lost sleep, my emotions being scattered all over the place, and my heart left racing while a hand covered my mouth from the intense moments within.

It was shocking, magnificent, humorous, sexy, gripping, and a real page-turner!! Good verses Evil was an All-out war featured throughout with lines blurred at times. I liked the fact that it was realistic in the sense that no one is perfect and everyone sins. There are so many twists that I did not see coming whatsoever and many days later I'm still surprised. Paranormal becomes the norm in this tale where there are demons walking amongst humans like thieves in the night. Eden and L's story isn't one of beauty but a darkness that is too tempting to turn away from. I loved that I could picture it all so very clearly in mind right down to the Chicago streets and L's Tattoo's. Ms.Jennings created a story that left me wanting more and a book hangover that hasn't disappeared yet. The next installment can't come fast enough!! :)

Eden was a character that had a life that was far from pretty. Sticking to being alone wasn't easy and when revelations come to light in various forms her seemingly average world is turned upside down. My heart broke for her many times while reading and I seriously just wanted to hug her. I hated the things that she went through. Even though she could have given up and not face her future she had a strong will that was not to be messed with. I liked that she spoke her mind even in not the best of situations. In the end I hoped she'd break free from the nightmares haunting her and be open to the love she so rightfully deserved.

L was a character that was a man on a mission. I had a strong distaste for him during the beginning due to how he acted. He was a mystery at the same time and I couldn't help but want to uncover all of secrets just as much as his past. I could've kicked his butt for his actions during some parts but in others I wished terribly that he was real just so I could give him a kiss. L was sinfully sexy, dark, and brooding. As the story progressed I became a goner as I fell for him completely as a character. I hoped that in the end I'd know everything about him and his intentions.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a read that is unique in every best way possible. You'll go through everything from being so mad you could punch a wall to balling your eyes out while wearing a smile. I enjoyed the secondary characters and their quirks just as much as the main ones. There have been many books that have become favorites of mine this year but without a doubt I can say that Born Sinner is my FAVORITE book of 2016!! I cannot even begin to tell you how much I'm looking forward to the next installment!! The wait is already killing me!! I'm sorry if my review is vague but this story is so action packed that if I reveal certain aspects I'll spoil it which is the last thing that I want to do. Also, this review was one of the hardest I've ever had to write due to that fact. If you haven't already One-Clicked Buy it Today!! You won't regret it!! 5 Stars all around!! :)

This was a somewhat original take on angels, demons, etc. The foundation of and the story itself was great, but the characters really fell flat for me. It was like casting actors with zero experience in an award winning movie. They just couldn't carry it the way it deserved. The heroine started off great but by mid book she devolved rapidly becoming self absorbed, petty and extremely indecisive. This was confusing to me because the other characters actually started to grow and become more entrenched in their roles. There is actually a part in the book where the hero and a secondary character even point out the lack of growth of the female lead, Edan. I was kind of glad because I knew it wasn't just me, but come on, this was an amazing book and deserved a better portrayal from the character the book is mainly about. I just felt she was lack luster and opportunities to improve on her character were overlooked. The writing was good with only a few grammatical errors. This did not detract from the story for me though. The chemistry between the two main leads was on point, there was not much action after the very beginning (just the characters eating and eating and eating) until the very end. There is a good amount of angst and insecurities that lead to misunderstandings between, well, everyone. In fact I feel Edan's pity party was the party of the century. It got really old fast, but I chalk this up to not connecting with her character anymore after her abduction in the very beginning until the second abduction at the very end. In a nutshell I felt like the book and characters started off sprinting right out the gate only to tire out 100 feet later where they remained at a jog until they could see the finish line. Oh, and for those who don't like cliffhangers...this book has a HUGE one. I'll read the second novel with high hopes Edan has somehow found her backbone, matured quite a lot and can manage to make a decision not centered around making her a victim in EVERYTHING.

Wow. Just. WOW.
Our poor born sinner, Eden!! One of most lonely, tortured souled heroine ever. Always having to rely on herself. Just heartbreaking. Never being wanted. Except by the devil himself. And now he wants all of her. Body and soul.
Damn you, Lucifer. (Oh, wait. Duh. Too late...already is being the Prince of the Damned and all that. But I digress...) You twisted mofo!!
OMG, Legion! Can you save her?
You are one dark mysterious messed up, angry fallen-from-heaven-straight-up-from-hell anti-hero. (I am in lurve with all that pent-up angsty thingy you got going on....again, I digess. But that man is supernaturally fine!)
If any one of the Se7en can, you got this. Right?
Serious page turner here, people. This author brought it all together in this first of her new PNR series. Believable and detailed world building, no info dump either. It all unfolds for us as Eden is hurled into learning about the circumstances of her birth and what destiny predicts. The author did not hold back on twisted evils that lurk in our unchecked dreams. This is some good vs evil, dark end-of-days s#!t...so be warned.
I truly wanted to savor ever word, but there was just so much suspense it made me fly through it.
I LOVED THIS STUFF. The characters, the feelz, the overall story arch just sang to me! Don't care about the cliffhanger, cause I will be rereading this again just to get a little bit more of our hero, Legion. *swoons*
But it doesn't end here? Legion. Don't do it! I know you made a vow. But.
Will your plan even work?
Who will have our hero's back and, better still, will our heroine be able to fight the devil?
Hurry, dear author. I need book 2!!
Solid 5 stars.
ARC kindly provided by the author. Reviewer's note: planned to buy this story months ago when I first heard about it being developed. Had been on my TBR list right then. I was NOT disappointed with this story! The chance to read the ARC was a sweet surprise and so appreciated. But I will buy a copy just for that sweet cover ;)

“He moves in just a fraction closer, aligning his face with mine. Seeing me. He sees me to my soul. He sees all the ugly, all the pain. All the desire kindling within my trembling flesh.”

“He is need. He is passion. He is fire.”

What an amazing, fantastic read. Seriously. This book reminded me of exactly why I fell in love with the paranormal romance genre….

From the moment you pick up Born Sinner, you are sucked into the story. Right away, you know that Eden is different from everyone else. Her entire life has been spent trying to hide her differences from everyone. All Eden has ever wanted was to blend in and be normal like everyone else. She had no way of knowing that one fateful night, everything she ever knew was about to change. Suddenly Eden finds herself in a life she never knew existed. A place where the line between good and evil is blurred. A place where she will finally learn the truth behind her differences and the effect it will have on the entire world. A place where she never saw L coming….

Born Sinner is a captivating read, from start to finish. I loved the world that S.L. Jennings created. I am a huge sucker for Angel and Demon stories, and I have to say, this is one of my favorite ones to date. The story-line was fun and refreshing. I loved this author’s take on the angel/demon world. I loved way that she mixed the contemporary and paranormal elements together. I thought the characters were fun and entertaining. I couldn’t wait to learn more about them. I loved the blur between good and evil and not knowing who you could really trust.

Born Sinner had mystery and intrigue. There was action and danger around every corner. This book is sexy with a hint of angst and romance. It was everything that I could have wanted and more. Born Sinner is my first book by this author and let me tell you, I am hooked. My love and passion for this type of story has been reignited and I am dying, I mean I can not wait to get my hands on the next book in this series to see where this story is going to go next. Fans of Paranormal Romance, you are definitely going to want to check this book out.

It was OK

I really really wanted to love this book. The concept of the seven most deadly demons was fascinating to me but that’s where it ends. I pictured these 7 demons to be deadly but they all had vulnerabilities that didn’t go well with their character. I gave this book 3 stars instead of 2 because I’m a fan of demon’s vs angels and good vs bad. I found myself either skimming through the pages or putting the book down numerous times because I just wasn’t connecting to these characters. I got to almost 70% of the book and was going to call it quits because nothing significant was happening in the book. The story just seems to drag, although I give props to the author and rather enjoyed the steamy sex scene in the “bathroom” but other than that nothing much happens. I made the decision to continue with the story in hopes that it will get better, it only did a bit. I was unhappy with the fact that it was the last 20 pages or so that held all the action instead of holding my attention throughout the book. I’m sorry but it just wasn’t working to me and I really don’t know if I should give up on the series or hope that book two and so on will get better. One could hope.

The main characters:

Eden, to put it lightly just was NOT working for me. Maybe it’s because I’m so used to reading female leads that are strong and independent and don’t take peoples bull crap. All Eden did in this book was run away from people and her problems and curl up in a little ball and hope it will all go ways. There was plenty of times throughout the book I wanted to shake her and tell her to snap out of it and stop running away to your room like some child!!! I understand that she has had a pretty crappy life and having to dealt with an abusive mother can take a toll of you emotionally and physically, but wouldn’t all that make you want to be a stronger person? Who knows but what bothered me most was this character is so used to getting what she wants from humans and controlling their free will that when she’s confronted with higher beings, she freaks out. That was definitely a no go for me. I just really didn’t like her. I felt like she was more of a burden than anything else.

L aka Legion, I had a love-hate relationship with him. At times throughout the book I liked him and in others I couldn’t stand him. He was supposed to be the head and most powerful of the Seven but he wasn’t alpha male enough for me. I found him just as vulnerable as the others this guy was so full of self-loathing and hatred of himself that it made me dislike him even more. Where was the big strong alpha head demon I was searching for? Again, I don’t know. This being is so busy searching for his own forgiveness from his past sins that he’s not seeing what’s around him. I just don’t know, I could not connect with this book as interesting as this concept was.

Lucifer, in all reality and as crazy as it sounds he’s really the only character I like in the book. He’s the type of alpha male that I’m used to reading. I know it sounds crazy even though his attempts at getting the girl is a bit outlandish but I like the fact that he gives 0 craps in what he’s doing and he will do whatever is needed to get the job done. The only thing I didn’t like is the torture/sex stuff he’s into that was a bit of a turn off but other than that he’s the kinda male I sorta like, kind of.

All in all I don’t know if I’m going to read the next book. I can’t stand whinny characters and who knows maybe in the next book they will get better. In truth, I’m not in any rush to get the next one.

And intriguing story of love vs hate, good vs evil, Angel vs demons. We are introduced to Eden, a young woman who has not seen much good in her life

"To her, I’m just a troubled girl with a dark past who she wants to love and nurture. But in reality, I’m a troubled girl with a dark past whose thoughts and words are weapons. And while Lily is one of the only people I can call a friend, she can’t know about me. No one can."

And then to L, a man who by all appearances, every woman would like to have cross their threshold.
"He was tall and built like someone who trained religiously. I thought maybe he played for the Bears or maybe even the Bulls, but the way he moved was almost too lithe and graceful to pin him as an athlete. However, there was something uniquely feral about it. And his face…hard and menacing, yet unquestionably pretty. Almost like he knew he was gorgeous, but didn’t want to be. Still, even the dark scruff on his chiseled jaw seemed precise and elegant."

Throughout the storyline their relationship evolves and develops into both dark and light. Once I got through the first few chapters I couldn't put it down. It came with me to cook dinner, do laundry, and yes I did draw a line at taking it into the shower.

I hope in following books we not only see where their relationship goes but also have continual character development of the other members of the Se7en.

The cover of this book and blurb enticed me to the point I one clicked and didn’t even realize that this was a paranormal. It is not my normal genre of choice, but I have read a few and enjoy them if the story is written well. SL Jennings does this with ease. Her Dark Light Series was nothing short of amazing, and it was wonderful to see Dorian and Gabriella make a cameo in this story!

Born Sinner is the same caliber. Her writing flawless; the words flow effortlessly, the story is enticing, filled with magic and suspense, and the characters are interesting and compelling.

Born Sinner blurs the edges of good and evil, light and dark, right and wrong. There is religious references within the story, but not to the point that it overpowers it.

The slow build to the story builds the momentum and leaves you with apprehension and the premise of a detonation that will be explosive! Based on this installment of the story, I can only assume that the reader will be in for one hell of a read in book 2.

I’m a closet paranormal junkie. My TBR and Read list doesn’t show that but it’s anything, movies, shows and books, paranormal is my jam. If it’s about witches, wizards, vampires and werewolves count me the EFF in. This book. THIS BOOK. I devoured it. I kept swiping the pages of my Kindle. I couldn’t stop reading and then all of a sudden…BAM….done. I want more. It’s Angels and Demons meets Suicide Squad mixed with a little Devil’s Advocate. It’s some bad ass stuff in here. I’ve said this before, but when a book plays out like a movie in my head, I know that I’m done for. Not all books do that for me, that’s not to say that that’s a bad thing but man, if this one is slated to hit a movie theater so help me.

Eden knows she’s “different” but can’t really explain it or let alone tell people. She has to keep herself to protect those around her and doesn’t keep anyone close because of it. It’s not until everything changes……that everything changes. That will make sense when you read this book. She’s not your typical heroine either, she changes and grows in ways that are much different than your average cookie cutter heroines. She’s tough and vulnerable but it’s just different.

L. I love him so hard and that alone makes me question my own flipping sanity. He is darkness and the light in one really nice package. He is a fighter, for the right team so to speak, but we learn his weaknesses and why he is the way that he is. The tension between Eden and L is so heavy and so very THERE and I loved every second of it. L is a leader and as a leader he’s forced to make tough decisions for his team. He’s ready to make that ultimate sacrifice for Eden. All for Eden.

This book is pure perfection. S.L. Jennings KNOWS how to paranormal with a twist, let me tell you. The Biblical references mixed with that Suicide Squad vibe was perfectly executed. As I said, I devoured this book. I can’t remember the last time I finished a book in a days time. Whether it’s just adding it to your TBR for later or grabbing it now, just get this book. You may thank me later. I WILL not spoil it BUT you’re in for a sweet treat with this book along with everything that is Eden and L. I’m telling you.

There is not an adequate genre to describe this book.
Before I start, you guys need to know this is book 1 of the Sinner series.
I had no idea what to expect when I started this book. From the first page I was intrigued. I immediately sensed that this book was going to be different than anything I have read before. Eden has a secret, one that she has never shared with anyone. She lives a quiet unassuming life and keeping everyone at arm's length. And it was working for her...sort of. Until one night, fate steps in and she is taken from the only reality she has ever known. Until the man she had been watching saved her life. He drags her into a world far more sinister than she can understand. Trying to write this without giving key points away is difficult. It's best to go in blind. You'll either love or hate it.
I loved it. I was on a roller coaster of emotion with this book. In the beginning I didn't know what to make of Eden and the man who is called L. As the story progressed I fell in love with the characters. It was easy to get immersed in the story because it was familiar to me. It shook me to the core, made me cry, and gave me hope. I might have chuckled at a couple of names being dropped.
The reason I gave it a five star rating was because I could actually picture this story as a realistic setting in today's world. Throughout my reading, I was screaming, pleading, crying, and wanting to commit murder(oh believe me, you will too!).
I highly recommend this book to anyone who can read with an open mind. There are some dark and gritty scenes, but I feel like it's more suspense than dark though.
SL Jennings did a phenomenal job with this book!!!

For the last few weeks I had seen teasers counting down to the release of this book and I was instantly interested. There is something about a dark, fallen angel seeking redemption that is fascinating, and dare I say sexy. This book did not disappoint. I was sucked in from the first page and couldn't put it down until I made it through. I loved Eden. I loved L. I loved the Se7en. There is an art to writing so that the reader sees the story and is not simply told the story and Jennings is a master at this. Throughout the entire story there was a darkness to the world I saw. Even then the sun shined, it was dull. Everywhere I looked there was sadness, fear, and despair, until tiny steaks of light started to show through the cracks. The world creation in this book was beautifully done. I also love that Jennings tied in previous beloved characters into this story - I never saw them coming until they were there and now I want to revisit their story all over again.

Beautifully written. Dramatic cliffhanger. Total book hangover. Desperately seeking the next book. Possibly the best book I have read in 2016.
