After enjoying the "Emperor's Edge" I purchased "Dark Currents" with expectations of an entertaining read. It met those expectations and then some. It is a solid step above most of the fantasy genre offerings available. I highly recommend it and look forward to further offerings.

I love reading Lindsay Buroker's books. She keeps me interested throughout the book. I've read most of the series and I'm glad it's on my Kindle so I can re-read when I want to. Great imagination, Lindsay!!

This book, as was its predecessor, is entertaining. The characters are interesting, and offer a workable contrast to one another.
II would recommend it to those who like their escapism with a dose of adventure.

As usual: excitement, intriguing characters, mystery. Fast paced, but not to the detriment of character development or setting the scenes. I stumbled upon Lindsay Buroker by accident, and have spent the last couple months reading anything of hers I can find.

Great story. The steampunk elements come through a lot better in this installment than it did in the first one.
Sicarius seems to be a bit deus ex machina at times, but not to a point that it makes me dislike the story.
Ms. Buroker does an excellent job balancing the humor, action, and intrigue in the story. I will definitely be continuing on to the next book.

Complex and likeable characters in an interesting fantasy world. Exciting and frankly captivating storylines. To say that her books have been worth every penny is an understatement. Certainly the most enjoyable reading material I've encountered in the last couple of years!

Wonderful second installment for the Emperor's Edge Group. I am most impressed with Ms. Buroker's character building which continues to build from the first book. These characters become like old friends-a little quirky with all the foibles of truly interesting people. Each of these characters is a unique person and adds their own part to the overall story. I also like how some of the characters 'rise to the occasion' and become heroic at times. Can't wait for the next installment! Lindsay Buroker is now on my automatic buy list!

I enjoyed this book even more than the first one! I really liked getting to know Books more and how he fits into the group. Of course, I am intrigued (ok obsessed) with the Amaranthe and Sicarus relationship. The only thing that was missing was further development/info regarding Sespian. Hopefully we will get to see him a little bit more in the next book.Lindsay is an exciting author and I will continue to purchase her books as they are released. She has made my must buy list.

I loved Emperor's Edge, in my opinion better than average and a great start to a series. This second one, not so much, with long complicated hazardous situations and misuse of homonyms and other phrases. It didn't quite flow well for me, though I still enjoy the banter, the relationships among the characters. The plot was a bit baroque for my taste, too.
So three stars for average. Yes, I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series, having downloaded it already and it's in the queue.

Excellent sequel to the Emperor's Edge book. Buroker manages to juggle the development of all six main characters while keeping the focus on Amaranthe/Sicarious and Books, who's instrumental to the resolution of this story's quest. Others have summed up the plot, so I won't, but this book is well worth the $3.99 price tag. (And Buroker should seriously consider charging a little more for her work -- it's good enough to justify that!)

Lindsay Buroker has made it to my automatic buy list. Her characters are distinct and believable, the action pulls me along. Also, it's such a relief to be able to trust her editor (who may be the author, but if not, I admire the author for finding a good editor). No misspellings, no confusion about usage, I wish print publishers would do as well. I love the Emperor's Edge series, and I loved Encrypted even more.

I stumbled across Lindsay Buroker and I'm so glad I did! This second book in her Emperor's Edge series is just as fun as the first and has good character development. You can't help but get invested in the clumsy professor, the ego-driven charmer, the snarky smart kid and of course our heroes the plucky (but never obnoxious) female lead and her partner (love interest?!?) the assassin with a heart of...well not a heart of gold but he grows on you anyway. Cannot wait for the next installment!
