I started this after finishing the excellent Emperor's Edge series. A different, contemporary world, with some surprising twists, and quirky, engaging characters. The author asks at the end of the book to let her know if we want more. Here is my answer - a resounding YES!

This was a very enjoyable read, with an imaginative and rather unique plot. The writing was very good and the story flowed nicely. I am definitely looking forward to the sequels (to the author-please write several sequels!). Definitely recommend this book-more than worth the money!!
Perilous Hunt: Fallen Empire, Book 7 :: Cleon Moon: Fallen Empire, Book 5 :: Encrypted (Encrypted Series Book 1) :: Unraveled (Heritage of Power Book 4) :: Balanced on the Blade's Edge (Dragon Blood) (Volume 1)

I love Buroker's characters, though her female leads are starting to sound the same. Not that I necessarily mind that, since I like them! For some reason, maybe because it is supposed to be on Earth and not an alternate universe, it was harder to swallow the plot line in this book. Still, I would look forward to a chance to see what happens next!

I really enjoyed this story. It was non stop action. I like all the characters. I was interested in the mystery behind Jakatra and Eleriss. I'm looking forward to seeing this story/universe evolve. Can't wait for the next one.

Just finished this great story!!! Can not wait for more in this series! Lindsay Buroker is one of my favorite authors! Her characters are always quirky and lovable. Delia and Simon are no different. Cannot wait to continue this adventure!

Delia and Simon are out looking for relics they can sell when they run across a dead body and outrun something that is chasing them out of the cave and tunnel system they were in. The book starts out with fast action and it just keeps on going. If you've read the Emperor's Edge series, this is not Amaranth. Lindsay has done a great job in creating a new set of hero's and heroines and given them a very different feel. I loved the book and now am in my familiar rut of wanting the NEXT book in the series to be published tomorrow afternoon.
****Spoilers*****
There are some real twists in the book. The heroine's role isn't what I thought it would be. There is some decent setup for the rest of the series and a slew of unanswered questions. Delia is way more reluctant than I thought she would be, but then so far she doesn't really have much of a role. I'm assuming she will become more defined in the next volume. I'm definitely holding out hope for the Athenian warrior.
*****End Spoilers*******
It's a great book, if you like fast paced, clean, well written stories, you won't go wrong with this one.

I was pleasantly surprised by the change to a more modern day setting from the Emperor's Edge books. I like to see an author who can diversify! While I agree that the characters could use some development, I couldn't put the book down. I'm hoping we get some depth to the characters in the next book, I'd really like to know more about all of them but especially Temi. I'm looking forward to the next book!

The overall premise of the story was great. The pace was good and it kept the story moving. I did not like that the main character had so much internal dialogue. It did not help me connect to her. It just made her annoying and made me question her relationships with all the other characters. I am unlikely to read any sequels.

Lindsay Buroker has become one of my favorite authors! Not only are her stories fantastic, her characters endearing, but she really connects with her readers/fans. I am always in for the ride when she is at the helm and I am never disappointed!

This was not my favorite Lindsay Buroker book, probably my least favorite. It is set in contemporary Arizona. I enjoyed it very much but if you have read other of Lindsay's books you may find this one very different. She is great author and will keep you turning the pages.

This is my first book review. I wanted the author to know that I enjoyed the story very much. I am looking forward to a sequel. This was a fresh story line and well written. It did not have any typos or wrong use of words that so many Kindle books have. I loved the use of so much pop culture. I can easily picture these sarcastic people as my friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed Torrent and it was a nice change of pace from Buroker's "Emperor's Edge" series. The book is set in modern Arizona and is an interesting SciFi-Fantasy fusion. I am very interested to see how our characters continue to develop as the plot unfolds.

Fast-paced,with well-rounded characters who use believable dialog. Just enough humor makes the suspension of disbelief easier. I really enjoyed the hints of archaeology and history. This made the story interesting and really accessible. Believable characters, interesting story-line, plausible. A real winner.

I was a little dubious about Lindsay Buroker's new story being set in a contemporary time and setting, having so much enjoyed her all her other books in their fantasy/quirky contexts. However, I had no trouble at all engaging in the story and loved the way she drew us in to another great story with yet more engaging characters. My only disappointment is that I can't start book II immediately.

What a good book! As usual, Lindsay does not disappoint in this thrilling novel. Filled with excitement and science, with just the perfect pinch of sarcasm, this recipe for adventure will keep the reader on edge!

Wasn't my favorite book by Lindsay Buroker, but I enjoyed the read. I lived in Prescott, Arizona for a couple of years, so I enjoyed the storyline being there. Good job on the correct name of the landmarks and the description of Prescott, Prescott Valley and The Verde. Valley! Keep writing and keep up the good work!

Interesting first novel in what I hope will become a series. The characters are all believable and sympathetic. There's enough of a mystery to keep it interesting throughout. And all the questions are not answered leaving us waiting for a sequel!

I started following Lindsay with the Emperor's Edge series and now I find myself looking forward to the new book in this series. The characters are engaging and she always leaves just enough of a mystery to keep me guessing what will happen next. Really enjoyed this new story and now I am going through withdrawals. Looking forward to book 2!

Book pulled me in from the beginning. I would like to see more! Won't go into the story as not to give anything away, but characters are very likeable, realistic and contemporary. Great mystery, but the story just started, lots of sequels to go

I also approve of the heroine twist - Delia isn't the main power house, for all that she is the main character. She knows her limits, but she also knows how to play her strengths to make the whole team stronger for all their parts instead of just one person standing alone against impossible odds.
