Do not buy this book! On virtually every recipe measurements of ingredients are missing so you have to guess. On the procedural side of the recipe he often omits ingredients that were listed in the ingredients list so you have to guess when/how to add them. As a weight loss tool it is not very helpful because he does not have any nutritional information. I was very disappointed.

I've been following a vegetarian diet for two months now and thought I would enjoy this book. It was ok and maybe the recipes will impress me more if I get to trying them, but I was a little disappointed that there wasn't better and more information that I might find helpful. It seemed a little amateurish. Probably would have given it only two and a half stars but I couldn't figure out how.

I was all prepared to not like this cookbook because I disagree with vegetarian lifestyle.
In nature there are herbivores, carnivores and omnivores. As humans we are omnivores
which goes against nature and how God made us. We were made to eat animal protein
as part of who we are.

With that rant out of the way I was pleasantly surprised to see nice pics illustrating his
recipes. This is missing from most Kindle cookbooks. So it is for that reason that I
giving this a 4 star review.

Jonathan Vine is back with another entry in Vegetarian eating, this book looks at how the vegetarian diet will help with weight loss and how becoming a vegetarian can help you lose weight.

Jonathan covers all of the topics that are essential in following a vegetarian diet from what types of foods to eat in combination to achieve the best vitamin absorption, how to get the most amount of protein as well as foods to avoid all without sounding like he is lecturing you.

While I knew that gummy candies are made from gelatin and gelatin is made from animals and I love gummy candy and can over look that, I had absolutely no idea that some beer is filter through fish bladders. ICK! I think I will be passing on the beer for a while :)

He covers the many types of vegetarian diets including Vegan. He comes across as an authority on vegetarian diet and how to best succeed following the vegetarian diet and how to lose weight while doing so. He discusses the techniques to follow to make sure that you are getting the most nutritional value from your food as well how to avoid adding extra fat or calories.

The book is part diet and weight loss and part cookbook. I found the recipes easy to follow and most of all TASTY! Often times when we are in peak season here in Northern Illinois, I love to hit the farm stand or farmers market and will eat the majority of meals vegetarian, and with this book I have so many new recipes to try when we have more fresh produce available that I am even more excited for summer.

I am an omnivore, but I found the book to be well written and very informative and even found several ways to incorporate more vegetables into my diet and to eat the correct things to get the proper amount of Iron, Calcium, Protein and other naturally occurring vitamins all while practicing a vegetarian lifestyle, even though I am not ready to commit to it full time, I love my veggies.

**I received this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion with no promise of a favorable review on behalf**

Vine's book explains the benefits of a vegetarian diet
which include weight loss, reduced cancer, better
glucose control and reduced coronary heart disease.

The Preventive Medicine Research Institute conducted
a study which showed that a vegan diet can cut up to
24 pounds or more a year and extend life by 13 years.
This is true in the reviewer's own experience with food.

The book explains how various colored vegetables help
with health. For instance, yellow veggies contain carotenoids
while green veggies contain chlorophyl. The author makes clear
that vegetarians should eat whole grains like oats daily.

The book has plenty of recipes to show how to eat daily.
For instance, the author explains recipes for tofu sandwiches,
scrambled egg burritos and grapefruit cran mixed salad among
others. Exercise is another important part of weight reduction,
as well as portion control.

In the reviewer's experience, the Vita-mix 5000 Total Nutrition
Center Series provides an easy way to process veggies like celery,
radish and carrots into a paste which is similar to a pudding. The
processor also has a variable heating element for soups.

Overall, Vine's book would be very helpful for a wide constituency
of vegans and dieters seeking to reduce or eliminate meat
consumption in favor of a vegan diet.

We all know the two new trending things are weight loss and going vegetarian so when I saw a book that talked about them both I was really excited to see what it was actually about. Truthfully I do not need to lose weight but I always wanted to go vegetarian and it is also a good way to maintain the ideal weight I have now.

This book was simple and easy to read. I loved the way the author explained everything and made it user friendly. It is not everyday we can change our diet but with this book I found the process both easy and pleasing. I have also recommended this book to a number of my friends who complain about losing weight and they have testified that it has worked wonders in their health and bit by bit the pounds are shedding. Like every other weight loss program you can get on, this is not a guaranteed fix but it is a guaranteed health benefit when all is said and done. I think everyone should read this book and give the vegetarian weight loss system a try.

Largely a rehash of what magazines and other books have said. Was hoping for a more structured summary of what is leading more and more to recommend less processed food, food that is closer to the earth and why. This really would not help a person struggling to understand why this is important and how to start to go about it.

I recently became a vegetarian about a month and a half ago, partly to help with my weight loss journey. One I saw this book I thought it would be perfect to help. I like how detailed and split up the book is. It briefly tells you about the different kinds of vegetarians (and vegan). I also like how they give you recipes you can try at home, which I would absolutely be trying. It's really helpful to learn about all the nutrients you need to be getting when you're not eating meat and for those not eating any animal products. Overall I would recommend this book.

I can't imagine life without meat or seafood, but I do like to eat vegetarian once in a while to balance out maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I am actually trying to get to the point where my vegetarian days exceed my regular eating days (even though truthfully I can't see myself being a true vegetarian). So, when the opportunity to came to read this book; it came at just the right time.

My problem with trying to keep up the vegetarian aspect of my lifestyle is the fact that I end up eating just salads all the time and then I get bored and go right back to incorporating fish or meat into my meals. This book offer some really simple, tasty and healthy recipes to help me keep going. The book also provided some insight on the benefits of having a vegetarian diet which is very helpful and informative for anyone just starting out.

I have been using some of these recipes for about a month now and I can tell you that they are delicious and awesome! I really liked a few recipes and LOVED the Spicy Bean Burgers, Black Bean Croquettes, Sweet Potato Pasta, and the Greek Spinach Pie. They will be regular meals in my meatless repertoire. Even if you are not a vegetarian, these could be good "meatless Monday" meals for you and your family to enjoy. I tried to follow the diet, less carbs, more plant food. I did lose 2 pounds this month, so it does work. If you are more diligent about it, you could lose more.

Vegetarians can be unhealthy or healthy. If you want to be a healthy vegetarian, follow this diet plan!

The recipes are good in this book, and the information cuts to the point. But don't buy it to expect to lose weight.... that's on you to follow a clean eating. If you are looking for good vegetarian recipes or are a new vegetarian...this is a great book to start with.

I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to improve their health while losing weight effectively! Great book.

I found this book a refreshing change as compared to the
mundane routine books you see elsewhere. It contains a number of excellent recipes
which are aimed at the built-up of a healthy lifestyle for the common man
who is now struggling with various health issues including obesity.
Recipes given are written in a simple and easy to understand language
which ensures that its not targeted to any particular group of individuals.
The common problems faced when using other diet books, have been
overcome in an elegant yet simple manner
It depicts colorful images which give a visual boost to the reader and encourages them
on a path leading to healthy eating.
Do not think that going on a vegan diet would compromise your taste buds in any manner!!!
I have tried a few of the receipts myself and was amazed at the level of flavor and blend
attained, the combination of different flavors came as a surprise. They actually tasted
really great!!

My only complaint was that I wish I had more time to read this book!!
Being a working professional, I get very less time to actually sit down and unwind.
ALL IN ALL A GREAT BUY !!

As someone that has never officially gone down the path of either vegetarianism or veganism, but is interested in eating less meat, I found this incredibly helpful. I'm really mostly interested in learning to eat a clean diet, and eliminating a lot of the crud that I've been eating lately. I feel like focusing on a good vegetarian based diet is a really great way to start that journey! I learned a lot about eating and nutrition from the book, and was happy to see that Vine includes a lot of great recipes

This is a great book to understand the benefits of a vegetarian diet. The author provides delicious recipes and a great concept of how to diet, effectively lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to shed a few pounds and to understand a vegetarian diet a bit better.

This book was helpful for losing weight by learning about the right foods to eat as a vegetarian. It was easy to read about healthy food choices. I loved all the recipes and tips for shedding the pounds. Surprisingly, I like and use a lot of the fruits and vegetables in the recipes so it was easier to get started. Other "diets" are cumbersome and required buying packaged food and spending tons of money. This is all fresh ingredients. My family will be joining me in this new healthy way of eating and living.

Too basic. If you have been a vegetarian for longer than 6 months do not get this book. All of these recipes are very old vegetarian recipes that turned people away from being vegetarian (i.e. stuffing mushrooms). Most of the recipes are intuitive and self evident as well (put scrambled eggs into a whole wheat tortilla with cheese and salsa). Lastly, the recipes did not seem geared towards weight loss, as they used heavy cream, a lot of egg recipes, and cheese. I feel like I wasted my free lending library book for the month.

A very general summary of the benefits and types of vegetarianism, coupled with recipes divided into breakfasts, lunches and dinners, and tips for dieting that you can find in any diet book or free online weight-loss forum.

Most of the recipes would take longer than I'm willing to spend at the end of a work day. Calorie amounts are not included with the recipes, so it doesn't include the information I need to support my diet without calculating everything myself.

This book is great! I received it for the purpose of a review. I have been really trying to lose weight, which is one of the reasons I went Vegetarian. This book has a great beginning where the author talks about the choice to become Vegetarian and how it can benefit you, so even if you are new to vegetarianism this book is perfect! There are also tons of great (and filling) recipes in here that even my carnivorous husband loves!

Vegetarian Weight Loss has some good qualities, but it is lacking in others. For instance, the book has good basic information, but it doesn't back it up with research. It also needed a lot of editing. There were typos throughout the book!

Largely a rehash of what magazines and other books have said.
