Josie is the type of person I would almost certainly get easily annoyed with, yet reading her story from Tiffany's story and now in this episode, I feel incredibly sorry for her and want her to find happiness. Having never had a family or never been wanted as a child, she longs for a big happy family where everyone is loved and cherished. She also copes with her tragic past by being constantly and incessantly cheerful, optimistic, and chatty.
Prior books have loudly hinted that she would end up resonating with the tribe grump, Haeden. The elation she feels when she discovers she no longer has an IUD standing in the way of having a family to the dramatic drop she feels when she realizes who she has resonated with is utterly devastating. To make matters worse, the two are utterly incapable of communicating, even though their fears of being rejected and unloved based on traumatic pasts gives them more in common than they realize. Josie sees herself as facing a future of being forever tied to a mate who despises her, forever being denied being loved. Haeden doesn't hate Josie, but uses his antagonizing of her as a coping mechanism to keep himself safe from risking the loss of a mate again.
Both handle things terribly every time they interact, climaxing with Josie leaving to cross the ice planet on her own. She feels she has lived a life without agency, and this is not only her last attempt at taking some control of her life, but also to prove to herself and everyone else that she's more competent and tougher than she seems. Haeden juggles with respecting her choices and his need to protect her. And their journey leads to one incredible revelation after another, and we learn there is a lot more to this ice planet than brutal cold and snow. So much happens at once that small details that are likely to be of critical importance in the future aren't mentioned right away, and one discovery is an immediate question of life and death and must be prioritized. We end with a happy ending for Josie and Haeden once they are able to open up to each other, and the promise of endless possibilities for adventures in future books!

This is my absolute favorite book (so far) in this series! Josie and Haeden seem like the most unlikely pair, but they are really quite a bit alike. Which is probably why they butt heads at every turn. Long before they resonate, they completely get on each other’s nerves. Which makes it nearly impossible for Josie to accept that the gruff and rude Haeden is to be her mate. She fights against it so hard that she makes both of them ill from the effects of their thwarted resonance. And she’s so mean to him that you almost feel sorry for the guy, except that he acts like such a jerk to her. Only later do we learn the true extent of their sad pasts and how much each has been effected by them. Once they finally start talking and sharing things, they begin to understand each other and bond. After some additional trials and tribulations, they finally submit and give in to resonance. But while that problem is finally solved, they have even more issues with which to deal. Quite a lot happens in this volume, and it directly sets the stage for the next two novels in the series, as well as indirectly for the related "Icehome" books. A steamy, romantic, action-filled sci-fi tale that is a quick, fun read!

Overall Opinion: Welp. I am currently giving myself a pat on the back for finishing this one tbh. It was pretty brutal for the first half with how spectacularly annoying Josie was! I kept on thinking about he reviews from my GR friends and how they said that Haeden makes up for it all, so I kept going...but even though I agree that he was a good H, I'm not sure he really made up for how much I disliked her character. I'm bummed because I have enjoyed this series, but I think I'm just about ready to throw in the towel after this one (and the not-so-stellar reviews of the ones I haven't read yet).

**Please see goodreads.com/NMmomof4 for my full review with spoiler tags**

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Josie and Haeden's story. They have a enemy type relationship going on when they are shocked to find that Josie's cootie has chosen Haeden as her mate. Josie strongly fights it for a while, but Haeden sticks with her because he has a strong sense of possessiveness for her. They end up on a journey that has them stuck alone in a cave for several days, and the cannot fight their attraction any longer and give in to their fates. There are some suspenseful moments, some sexy times...and they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Josie and Haeden's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. The ending felt abrupt, but otherwise I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings.

H rating: 4 stars. Haeden. I liked him. I did want him to communicate a little better a few times, but for the most part I understood where he was coming from and enjoyed his character.

h rating: 1 stars. Josie. She was freaking annoying! I wanted to shake her (or slap her) so many times! She was such an unlikable character that I really don't have words tbh.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes!

Heat level: Okay. They have some alright tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story. It takes a while for things to happen between them because of the h pushing away.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: No

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: No

Closure: This had not much closure, but relationship wise they are pretty solid. I would call it a HFN ending.

since the other books I was expecting to read Josie's story, she's so funny, good-hearted, cute and adorable! Paired with who? The grumpiest big sexy guy, Haedem LOL its delicious to read their story develop, how they grow to treasure each other.
I see some people here taking Haeden's side, but I must say he had his moments too, like, Josie REALLY wanted to have a family and when she finally had the chance, she, a cheeful, talkative person to be paired with the guy who seemed to dislike her, well, if I were her, I would be utterly disapointed too, ok, he's super willing to be with her, he desires her greatly, but the problem is: HE DOESN'T COMMUNICATE EFECTIVELY WITH HER, so in many parts Josie is left feeling unloved and thinking she's seen just like a "baby maker" and a mean to relieve sexual desire because of ressonance, although he honestly likes her, desires her...he simply struggles to convey that, he suffered? Yes, But SHE had suffered too, so I think it's super unfair to call Josie Selfish, that surely is a thing she isn't, in my opining, she's one of the most good-hearted and generous characters.
Well, as I said, when they finally are able to accept their love, it's awesome, Haeden becomes so protective, he can't control himself and Josie can't get enough of her man. LOL They get really cute.
Such a good read, I dare to say its one of my favorites of the series, definitely worthy re-reading!

I really enjoy this author and this series, but this book wasn't a hit with me. I love alien romance but feel the actual romance was lacking in this one. h/H are mostly likable, if stubborn and not prone to communicate with each other! Both have sad backstories, but as a couple, they didn't gel for me. I so wanted to like them more, but there was maybe too much arguing, misunderstanding, and resistance for me. The romance was pretty bland and slow, and I think I got to about 49% before I started skimming. My interest just wasn't there. I basically continued reading to see how a 'new' development leaves off for the series as a whole. I got this as my Prime pick for March, and I'm glad I'm up to date on the series, but I didn't feel the romance or the sweetness I was hoping for. A bland entry in an otherwise fun alien-romance series.

Yes finally, the most anticipated couple is here and Ruby Dixon did not disappoint!

Josie and Haeden, 2 of the most tragic characters in this series. I feel for Josie's rough upbringing, it makes her to be insecure. After learning about Haeden's past I just cannot help but feel sorry for the sexy 7ft blue giant. When they first found out that they resonates for each other, they were appalled, shocked and in denial. Josie strongly resisted the mating. At first Haeden was in denial but being brought up in the culture, he knew there is no way around it. Bless the sexy alien's heart for he perservered and gave Josie as much space as he could. Even when Josie's headstrong ways put them in perilous situations, he still has her back. I love ... LOVE .. the chemistry between these two. The sexy scenes, good grief it was scorching hot that it could have thawed the entire ice on that planet!

I was sad as I thought this will be end and I have to say goodbye to the Ice Planet but Ruby Dixon threw a twist towards the end. So there'll be more ... YAY! For scifi romance lovers, I highly recommend this series.

On to the next book in this captivating series about huge blue horned aliens and the women they purr for! This is Josie's story and I was so excited to read it!

Josie wanted to find her mate so bad and when she did she was heart broken, which upset me because even tho he was a jerk, he wasn't a bad guy. As a whole I really loved her character even when I was mad at her. I wish she had more understanding for Haedens past sooner.

Haeden could be a major jerk, but he had his reasons. I loved him. He was strong, tough and his words.... yum! He was just perfect. I don't want to give anything away but he will make you giggle and smile while you fall for him.

The plot was a hate to love type story with twist and turns you don't see coming. It's pretty light on the drama but there were some jaw dropping moments.

Overall, another great addition to this series. I can't wait to dive into the next book and meet some new characters in the future!!! These blue aliens are addictive and I wouldn't have it any other way! 4 stars #2OCCJD

I have read several books in this series and have enjoyed them so thoroughly that I felt the need to go back and give them a review. I waited to review them assuming they would become formulaic and therefore not worth my time. However, I have been pleasantly surprised that each book, while having some recurring themes which are necessary for a series, has been an exciting adventure. This is the first sci-fi romantic series that I have really gotten into and now I understand the concept of "world building". Each book has the hook up between characters that one expects in a romance novel that are sexy and passionate and are enough to make a good story . But the way the author then adds new layers to the alien world whether it be flora, fauna, or other insights make this series absolutely fabulous. Add to that an overall well written and edited story and you've got a great set of books. Well done Ruby!

genre: scifi romance
setting: alien planet
format: sequel, but with new main characters

Plot summary: a woman hates the man she is forced to marry (not his fault).

The last third of this book was interesting, entertaining, and pretty well written (4-star, maybe 5-star).

Unfortunately, the first half is awful, and you have to read it to reach the good stuff. The leading lady is spiteful, hateful, nasty, and pessimistic. I didn't want to read about her, and I would never want to be her friend much less her lover. She remains nasty until well after the half-way point. He is equally bad in the beginning of the book but turns himself around much sooner. Then he gets all apologetic and blames himself for all of her faults, which is an even bigger turn-off for me. I HATE it when women blame their own bad behavior on the men in their lives, and worse when the men buy into it.

Minor beef: the leading lady is described as cheerful, constantly smiling and fun to be around. You would never guess this from her actions; she never, ever acts that way!

Josie tries to make lemonade out of the lemons that life kept throwing at her. The new limited her life is Haeden. Of alternate she could've been given why was she headed one who clearly hates her.

Haeden knows what it's like to have a mate who doesn't want him. After his first encounter, he doesn't expect to be cruelly given another mate who doesn't want resonance with him. Here he is facing a situation he could only dream of, his Josie is his mate. But can he gain her trust and desire to mate?

Can these to strong-willed people put aside their differences long enough to realize they are truly meant for each other?

I absolutely love this story. Ms. Dixon did a fabulous job bringing Haeden and Josie's story to us. I think the one thing that I enjoyed about this series is that while all the men have one common thought to have a mate and to protect them, that's the only likeness. All of the men and women are so different in their characteristics that it makes each story unique. I absolutely love this series and I'm ready for book 8. Great job Ms. Dixon.

Both Josie and Haeden have painful pasts which affects their reactions to each other. Josie has been wanting to be mated to a sa-khui and have children, but when resonance happens, her mate happens to be Haeden the one person she would never pick. They have had an antagonistic relationship since they met and she is appalled by this twist of fate. Haeden has never had a woman so doesn't know how to act toward Josie. He comes across to Josie as non-romatic , but it's just akwardness and he would like nothing better than to mate Josie and pleasure her. He wants to protect and care for her and have children by her, but he doesn't know how to express himself to her so comes across as unromantic, stiff and cold. Josie heads for the hills to try to escape her fate and that's where things turn around 180 degrees in their relationship. They are alone without others to hide behind and make the effort to communicate and that leads to an understanding between them on how they truly think and feel about each other. I found the story interesting especially reading about the area near the ocean and why the sa-khui don't live there.

Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarian series is magical, and if you haven't read it, all I have to ask is…. have you been under a rock your whole life? The series follows a group of women kidnapped from earth by some A-hole aliens, then abandoned on a “uninhabited” planet when problems arise. Rescued by another set of aliens, these ones amazingly hot, and amazingly blue, the women find themselves pairing up with these barbarians hotties.

Barbarian's Mate is Josie and Haeden’s story, and my favorite by far. Josie, whose had been dealt a lousy hand in life, has always managed to maintain a positive outlook and keep her head up. Being kidnapped and stranded on a frozen planet may seen like a bad thing to many, but she knows it will give her a second chance at happiness! Haeden is grumpy, overbearing and doesn't think the humans should do much of anything because they are weak compared to his kind. When they resonate, sparks fly in the most delicious way.

I loved how the story progressed, and resonance wasn't a cure all, which would have been the lazy way out. The story was heart felt and both satisfying but left me wanting more.

Josie & Haeden ?

Bunch of early 20's girls are kidnapped by aliens by douche aliens. Douche aliens ship crashes on a planet with blue hunk aliens. Blue hunk aliens in need of ladies who can make babies. One by one the human ladies and members of blue hunk alien clan resonance...

Basically Josie & Haeden "resonance" with each other which means they pur and are fated mates. The problem? Haeden's kind of a dick and Josie's had a bad life. This is a HEA story and it is a Ruby Dixon 5 star bite-your-lip alien romance story.

This was one of my favorites of the series. I love the world Ruby Dixon has created in this series and I looked forward to Josie & Haeden's story and boy did ol' Ruby deliver! ????????????

My favorite IPB. Josie is a very optimistic heroine and in spite of what happened to her in the past, she just kept looking at the bright side of things. Haeden is the only person she detest but what the Khui wants, the Khui gets.
I just the love and hate relationship of this couple. They truly wanted out of the resonance especially Josie. So they just needed time away from everyone else.
There is one scene I found so funny, Haeden insisted Josie wear something like a baby carrier so they could travel faster but , well, things happen.

I loved this book although reading some of the lower stars I need to point out something. It seems a lot of people thought Josie was mean and ungrateful, but what everyone seems to be forgetting is that Josie can not read Haeden's thoughts. We know he is sincere, but she doesn't. We know why he acted rude in the ship and why he did not follow her. She does not. From her perspective he hates her and is only dealing with her since her cootie starts purring. She wants to be loved and doesn't feel like Haeden is the right fit. I think I would feel the same way. Heck he doesn't even say I love you when she says it. He feels that he shows it, but she wanted words. So this story is about the two of them figuring out how to love one another, being able to express it so the other one understands. As Haeden shows in the book, it is shown through action not words.

I love the Barbarian Ice Planet series. This book in particular was one of the best. It was warm, funny and delightful. The world building is amazing and the characters believable. I have been waiting for Josie and Haeden's story. Barbarian's Mate is a continuation of the series and answers some longstanding questions and creates some several more mysteries. It didn't disappoint. It exceeded my expectations in every way! I have read every book in this series and can't say any were less than thoroughly entertaining. Ruby is clearly an exceptional author and is generous to offer this entire series on Kindle Unlimited. See my own Ice Planet Barbarian.

This was my least favorite of the IPB books although still enjoyable. There was a very serious tone to it and not as much humor as the others have had. I also am not a fan of books where the main factor keeping couples apart is miscommunication or lack of talking to each other. There was also a real Sharknado moment that had me rolling my eyes pretty hard. Once we finally got to acceptance of the resonance however, things were all good. This book (and the author's note at the end) also revealed that the series won't be ending with Josie's story. Yay!!! It looks like I don't have to wait too long for my my IPB fix!

These books are packed with action, adventure, sexy times and swoon worthy hunky heroes!!! Nothing else is needed.. I will admit that this book like the previous one was a little frustrating because of the behavior of the h,But Josie (?) I understood. With the glimpses of her history one can totally understand her reasoning even while wanting to smack her lol.Another fantastic addition to this totally addictive series with a little shocker at the end! On to the next book.....

Josie and Haeden - among my favorites of this series, and it’s all because of Haeden. His story is tragic, he’s a big ole grumpy gus but his reasons are so good and heartbreaking I couldn’t help but love him best. Josie, the one heroine who I thought I would be thrilled about, kind of irritated me the most of all the heroines. Her actions, especially in the beginning, put her on my shytelist for most of the book. Still, loved Haeden enough to overcome most of the aggravation I had with Josie’s actions.

This series does not ever disappoint. I've been binge-reading it, and this one is very enjoyable. I saw through the plot when the female runs out on her male, but the writing is good, and I enjoyed the way they work through their differences. Two more books to go, and I will likely re-read these.

Josie is the only female left from the original group of women who were taken by aliens who hasn't found a mate among the blue barbarians who rescued them. She believes she never will resonate to one of them because she has a IUD and no way to take it out. She only has a chance to see if the computer at the elders cave can help her. Read to find out what happens.

Awesome writer, when her characters cry, so will you (you'll need a kleenex box nearby and I do mean shoulders shaking, involuntary sounds as you cry although it might just be that bad since I'm pregnant nut it doesn't matter, excellent writter, you'll laugh and cry with her characters and you won't be able to download the next book fast enough. I also love that her books are in the kindle unlimited so if you join kindle unlimited you'll only pay a monthly fee then you can download them and return when done!!!

Josie and Haeden were such an.interesting couple, they felt real. This is the first book that I have read and didn't get annoyed by the misunderstandings between the couple. I usually hate that, because speaking to each other can usually solve the problem. They needed time to understand themselves and each other.

I laughed trough the whole book. I was all kinds of happy. Can't wait for the next in the series
