Again, I started this series with fear. A story about a young girl getting kidnapped is not my usual read. I have two daughters and stories like this give me nightmares. Stacy Claflin has written a tough story, but it is handled as gracefully as possible and without so much horror. Having your child kidnapped is every family’s night mare, but yet this story is written with hope and love.
I loved that in Held you were given more family background. I felt like I got to know both Macy’s and Zoey’s family and their dynamics. I enjoyed watching how the families were coping with Macy being gone still and how Alex and Zoey’s relationship has blossomed.
I am still cheering for Macy’s safe return and for their family to be reunited. I highly recommend this entire series and cannot wait for the last book of this trilogy.

Fast paced. Great second installment with a cliffhanging end.
In HELD we go with Macy and Chester to their "new home". They go to The Community, basically a cult.
It's difficult to really say much more without giving things away, but as with the first book, I find the whole Alex and Zoey storyline a bit far fetched. Not because of the two year age gap, but because I don't believe a thirteen year old boy would be like this.

Oh my goodness! Claflin has out done herself. Held, book two of the Gone series, surpasses the first novel with super speed. This part of the story picks up with Macy still being held captive by Chester; however, now Macy needs to worry about the “community” and its’ rules in addition to Chester’s rules. Macy is having a hard time adjusting to her new life.

Zoey and Alex are determined to give Macy a run for her money when it comes to stirring up trouble. Poor Chad and Alyssa. They just can’t seem to catch a break. First, their daughter is Gone (find out more by reading this novel) and then this. It’s simply shocking to learn what has happened to this family; and, yet Chad and Alyssa manage to keep level heads. Valerie, being a single parent, has discovered that she 1) doesn’t know her daughter, Zoey, as well as she thought; 2) discovers on the late side of things that lying to your teenager is not a good idea; and 3) what you envision for your life does not mean that is what you are going to live. Needless to say, she doesn’t keep a level head.

Claflin knows what it takes to keep her readers coming back for more and more and more. This reader just could not put the book down – the book was finished in less than two days.
Riveted by the events unfolding in front of me. . .
The “community” and its members and rules . . . don’t forget the rules;
The remains of a love affair gone awry . . . or is that going the right way;
The learning curve for single parents just sky rocketed . . . or just parents in general;
Health concerns for mom and dad and step-mom . . . don’t forget the “Prophets” now;
Wait a minute!

Prophets?

What does Claflin mean by them?

What does any of this have to do with a budding romance?

Grab a copy of Held and find out what happens to Alyssa, Chad, Heather, Luke, Alex, Macy and many others. Claflin once again stupefies her readers with the turmoil of teenagers, marriage mania, and livable lying. Macy and her entourage have kept me cheering and yelling from my arm chair. I will be hard pressed to wait for book three. Please Claflin! Do not leave me (and the rest of your fans) hanging for long! Pretty please?!

I received a free copy of the e-book from the author in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own.

Book 2 of the "Gone" Series is frightening in its complexity. This Author's imagination is wonderful. The story of Macy, her brother Alex, and her parents moves along at the speed of light. The problems and occurring nightmares of the people in this story are fascinating and suspenseful. I am so looking forward to book 3! Please read this trilogy in order.

Another Nail biter, Stay up all nighter. This was such a story. New characters were introduced that made Macy's life even crazier. She continues to fight her way home while her family splinters. I was nervous for her as she made her plans to escape her kidnapper Chester who we all grow to hate.I love this Trilogy and highly recommend!!!

Macy is taken by Chester to a community of religious kooks. There is no electricity, and everyone wears uncomfortable white clothing, with no coats allowed. “Prophets” run the show and women are relegated to second class citizens. Chester is going to be a prophet in the community. He marries Rebekah, a woman not much older than Macy and Macy has to call her Mom. Rebekah is nice to Macy and they develop some sort of a relationship.

Macy is allowed a bit more freedom, but escape is still elusive.

I liked this book better than the first one, although there were substantially more typos, mostly in the form of omitted or extra words. Macy remains a sympathetic and likeable character and the new people are developed and fit well into the story. I enjoyed the way the author balanced Macy's plight with that of her parents, brother and best friend.

I can't wait to read the final book!

Held is the second book in the Gone trilogy. This book picked up where the first left off but took a much different direction than I expected. Since it's the second book of three, Macy has obviously not yet been reunited with her family. Held wasn't as realistic and plausible as the first book and some of the events in both storylines were hard to wrap my mind around. Nevertheless, I must know how the story ends and I'm looking forward to some kind of resolution whatever that may be.

Chilling, suspenseful... book 2 of the series offers even more twists and turns. As Macy's family and friend struggles to deal with her absence, did she run away or was she taken? As Macy struggles with living in a crazy commune trying to figure out how to escape she meets a few friends she can confide in.

I am just enamored with this series! "Held" is the second book in a trilogy. "Gone" is the first book. I received a free copy of "Held" in exchange for an honest review of it.

This book is absolutely a page-turner. After being kidnapped by Chester Woodran- a man Macy met online whom was pretending to be a boy her age- Macy once again finds herself being transported to her "new life" and not even I could have predicted what this meant. This book takes a surprising and expected turn right in the beginning and beautifully develops Macy's "new life." Throughout the book you'll continue to try and predict what happens next but since the author is so good at twists, you probably won't be able to. I was reading this book on the bus on my phone and while reading the last chapter or so my heart pounding and I was getting upset at everyone texting me while I was trying to finish it.

I recommend this book to all ages. It's a Young Adult book but it's written in a way that adults (I'm 31) can appreciate it. I read the entire book in a few (frantic) hours.

I can't say much more about this book without spoiling it but it's just such a good read. I highly recommend it and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

In “GONE”, Macy was abducted. In “HELD”, she is just that. Being held captive by a crazy lunatic, Chester. He is now taking Macy to meet her “new mother”. But where is he taking her? Will there be a cellar like on the farm? Will she be able to break away? She has no clue what is in store for her next. All she knows is that she is not Heather and the life she used to complain about is the life she would give anything to go back to.
Can she escape?

Received a complimentary copy to read and review. I couldn't put it down. Macy's story has become more intriguing. She is a strong girl and is constantly trying to figure out how to escape from the person who took her. The twists and turns in the book will keep the reader turning the page. I look forward to reading more books by Stacy.

Received from the author for an honest review. This is the 2nd book in the Gone trilogy.

This second book got my attention immediately and I didn't want to put it down! Macy is still with crazy man Chester. There were many twists and turns that kept my heart pounding to read what was going to happen next. In this book I got fully engrossed with Macy's family and Zoey and her family. I read about their complex relationships and how their lives have changed since the day Macy has gone missing. Held was a page turner!! I can't wait to see what happens in the third book!!!!

I've truly never been this satisfied reading a trilogy. This second book (Held) is just as nail biting and captivating as the first. I can't help but finishing the entire thing in one sitting. Macy is an amazingly strong girl, and I'm hoping that she finds a way to turn this terrifying experience into a positive one, by acquiring the confidence and self-worth that she lacked before her kidnapping. I can't wait to find out in the last book :) and then I must read the saga's! Stacy Claflin is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine.

This gripping thriller which is the 2nd book in the "Gone" trilogy is just as powerful as the first one, yet gives a completely different twist to the story. Macy Mercer is still held captive by Chester but unexpectedly within the confines of a twisted cult-like community. Towards the end of the story I found myself on the edge of my seat almost tempted to read the last page to see what happens but managed to contain myself. Can't wait to start the final book in this series.

I loved the first book, it really held my attention, I've just started the second book and already I'm so disappointed in the typos! Nothing takes my attention away from a book more than reading along to find typos....very disappointed, I did not notice this in the first book.

Macy's story takes an unexpected turn when she starts her "new life" in a community that is living in the past. But despite the community seeming "religious" and Macy being surrounded by people, she might not be safe there even with the "prophets". It's a chilling read that you won't want to put down, you'll be wondering what lengths Chester will go to and you won't stop reading until you find out!

Another epic installation of a wonderful series. The plot is weaved through the new characters Macy meets, as well as further instills the nasty nature of Chester. Another five star book that I'd recommend to every reader I know!

I enjoyed reading first part of the series, but this one did a trick on me! I finished it in one sitting and was like 'whoa, want more'! Definitely a great book, worth reading, not only for young adults, but adults as well, because of the topics that are covered. I ca't wat for the next one!

There is still hope for Macy's family. The turmoil that they are living through pales in comparison to what poor Macy has had to endure. If there is hope then it is worth the price you have to pay to get it...

Totally gripping, never saw the cult aspect coming, and fantastic way to add to the suspense and desperation of Macy. Could not put this book down a total page turner. So nervous and excited to see if Macy makes it back!
