I'm just starting this book, and chose it because I knew it had recurring characters, something I always like. It's a little maddening, though. Melis Nemid, from what I can remember and have managed to find on the 'Net, was featured in a couple of other books.. Wind Dancer and at least one other.. (Nanci, I think Wind Dancer is the one you're thinking of, where she's rescued from a brothel by Kemal). I'm really hoping the back story becomes a little more clear, though from what I've read here, it doesn't seem likely that it will. It wouldn't be fair of me to form an opinion yet, as I've only just started it, but for anyone else who enjoys recurring characters.. this one will probably drive you nuts.

As another person stated this is a romance novel disguised as a suspense thriller. For that kind of book it's ok, a quick read. I've read much worse of this type. At least I finished it. I just wished they would stop making books like this seem one thing when they are another. But I did really like Pete and Susie, the dolphins. Two stars for the actual two stars.

One of my favorite of the Eve Duncan life stories. I never get tired of reading about her life. Eve and Joe are of course my favorite characters that Iris has created. I love the awesome balance that Iris can always seem to create between action and love to keep her audience on the edge of their seat. This is a great story. This is a must buy and a must read.

I loved the dolphins. I would have liked to learn more about them. The story line was great and once again when I started reading I didn't want to put it down. Once again another hit as far as I'mconcerned.the big question is what to read next! She keeps you busy.

Fatal Tide suffers from a simplistic story line, underdeveloped characters, and lack of depth. Unlike some of Johansen's other characters like Duncan, Quinn, and Kamal, the intrigue and likeability factor is missing. If you are looking for a satisfying read, skip this one and go to some of Johansen's other books.

I just loved everything about the book. I like how I.J. writes, she's not too descriptive/graphic - she leaves room for her readers to expand their imagination. Melis character was built well. I liked her wariness, independence and her tragic past. Paired with Jed, who matches the intensity in an adverse way. You'll like it.

Unbelievable, and unlovable, main character. Although the author tried to develop Milis as a super woman, instead she delivered a whiny, unbelievable and unlovable brat. The plot itself is far fetched, but when combined with a main character whom you hope will come to an unpleasant end, there isn't much left to keep you interested. Don't waste your time on this poorly constructed tale.

I wasn't impressed at all. Iris Johansen writes like William Shatner acts (think emoting all over the place!) The drama and histrionics get old fast, and this book in particular asks you to set aside your common sense way, way too much. The first point of that is being asked to believe that there's an adult woman named Melis Nemid who hasn't changed her name legally. The premise of the book is interesting, but the follow-through.. eh.

This book was outstanding. I've read many books, and I'm just taken by all the books that Iris ahs written. This lady knows what women want to read and basically gives it to them in her books. I will be seeing more by this author.
