It's hard to almost impossible to second guess "WHO DONE IT". Really well put together, I really loved it. Poodlums, Boogeymen and Booglers: A Poetry CollectionMy Tongue Fell Out

Decent beach reading. Good plot, no slowdowns in the action, the usual stock characters that you find yourself mildly interested in until about five minutes after you're finished with the book. An enjoyable escape.
I have one kvetch. Johansen named her hero Matt Royd. ??? An incredibly unfortunate thing, to name your character that, a name so very similar to "'rhoids". I giggled like Beavis every single frickin' time I read the name.

A friend told me that Ms. Johansen is "an AWESOME writer," so when I saw the blurb on the back, I decided to check it out.
The only thing this book had going for it was that it is SO bad, it has inspired me to start writing down on paper the stuff that has been in my own head for several years. I just CAN'T be as bad as this...no matter how hard I am on myself.
This is the first book that I have EVER forced myself to finish reading. Never again.

I have read several Iris Johansen books and enjoyed them, but this one is something else! It seems to me that it wasn't even Iris who wrote the book. It was awful! I always pass on my used paperbacks to friends for them to enjoy, but this one went in the trash. Had to force myself to finish it and now I'm sorry.

Silly plot, inane dialogue (characters said "The hell I will" at least 7 times in one chapter alone), cardboard characters.... Three chapters and I couldn't take it anymore. Johansen is capable of much better than Killer Dreams. The Search, about search and rescue workers and their dogs, was terrific.

He stiffened, she stiffened, everyone stiffened! People had stiffened seven times by the time I reached page 46. Doesn't anyone edit her work? Another annoying word she uses to death is 'grimaced'. It's very distracting, and I lost all interest and quit reading by page 60. Thank heavens the book was a loaner from the library.
I seem to remember everyone stiffening and grimacing in "On the Run" as well (which by the way was another terrible book). If these two books are any indication of what we can now expect from Ms. Johansen, perhaps it's time for her to retire. All I can say is "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!" There isn't going to be a third time.

Being and avid Johansen fan, and loving all the Eve Duncan series, I bought the book at a glance, but in reading it I was disappointed in the plot, it was a bit lack luster, and drawn out. A love story within, and very similar to some of her other break out novels.

This is one of Johansen's greatest books. I could not put it down, captured you right from the first chapter! I felt like I was right there along with every character!! You must read this one, not to be missed!

I havent read too many of this authors book. This book is one of my favorites of hers. Its never boring. You cant put it down. Theres a lot of action with a romantic flare to it which makes it even better. The ending is the best part.
