I am only 142 pages into Eric Metaxas' MARTIN LUTHER book! I LOVE IT! His style of writing, while super professional, with a high level of educational intelligence - some words I still want to look up for the definition; but I thoroughly enjoy his personal "quips" and his "humor" in drawing the historic incidents with modern descriptions, helping to make things humanly real; and which the reader can identify. I wish I could state that with greater understanding for you. I appreciate his relating the spiritual, Scriptural truths which were central to the historic storm resulting from Luther's 95 Thesis. Within a page or two, he reveals 8 untruths or mistakes about Luther and this event AND his personal life; and corrects them in the writing. One big one: It is most likely Luther NEVER nailed these 95 Thesis to the Church door! And they were never written for the world about him to read. He only wanted a dialog with and debate with his fellow academics. GOD had other ideas !

For me, and I believe for any reader, this is enriching, educating fascinating history Eric Metaxas presents by making all the fascinating characters ALIVE. He takes me, the reader, with him right beside Luther and the others, so close I can almost read their thoughts by their expressions. This is GRAND reading! I wish every member of my family, friends and acquaintances, would read this book. It is pulling me right back in history and a more intimate, real, look at the conflicts which arose in the Catholic Church, and the dynamic revolution which Gospel Truth, and the crowning teaching of Justification by faith ALONE! Oh yes! I HIGHLY recommend reading this wonderful book. It makes me also want to read other historic books and biographies, Eric has written. You can have it in two days from the store! GOD bless you as HE speaks to you from this book!

An amazingly researched volume. It is taking me a long time to read, because of the vast amount of detail and historical events, but Eric Mataxas makes the reading compelling. A wonderful look inside the character of Martin Luther.

Not only does the reader learn much about Martin Luther but also about the times in which he lived. Much of this information is usually not taught in school or colleges. Gives the reader a better understanding about the how and why of what Martin Luther did.

I simply devoured this book. It is a very approachable read, but don’t let that fool you! I had no true idea of Martin Luther’s impact on history until I read this. And read it you must if you wish to understand the true dynamic in today’s world.

Really interesting and educational. I had no idea that all these things took place. I was brought up in the Lutheran Church but knew nothing of the church history or reasons for the reformation. Easy to read and follow the events that took place. Great author.

An erudite, yet extremely readable, account of Luther's story. The explanation of the milieu of the reformation is particularly helpful to modern readers for whom history was a less than favorite subject.

Very well written and informative book. I have downloaded it onto my the store Fire which has a nice feature. If you hold your finger down on a word it will bring up a dictionary or wiki page explaining the word.

Eric Metaxes brings God's blessings to us again with this wonderful biography full of the details we should all examine. Think of how modern internet sites resemble the Catholic oppression in Luther's era and how the best way forward is free speech. God has indeed stacked the deck so that the Truth will always prevail.

This book was an enjoyable exposition of the life, times, and principles of Martin Luther about which I was rather ignorant. It is well written with scholarship but also humor and could be appreciated by any reader. I highly recommend it.

I appreciated Metaxis' fluid style, word choice and commentary. What a monumental work. I especially appreciated the epilogue and commentary on modern culture and our struggle balancing truthj and freedom.

Magnificently researched. The story was told in an entertaining and authentic fashion from a God-honoring worldview. I do wish Mr. Metaxas would refrain from using such a profusion of cliches. But I enjoyed the book, felt that I came to know Luther better, and delighted in being introduced to Luther's world.

Having watched a number of Videos, visited in September, a majority of the towns and sites where Martin Luther lived and ministered, the book by Eric fills in great details of the various personal, theological and political conflicting issues!

I really liked Martin Luther: The Man Who Rediscovered God and Changed the World by Eric Metaxas. I have read all of E Metaxas's books and have thought they were all amazing. I really enjoy history and biographies. Metaxas did an excellent job of researching and writing Martin Luther. There are many characters in the book, however they are fairly easy to keep separate.

Martin Luther is not a fast read - it took me almost one month to read. Metaxas uses words that are not common in today's language, so I looked up a lot of words.

I would highly recommend Martin Luther to readers who like: non-fiction, biographies, Martin Luther, history, 1517 and later history, Reformation, and the Lutheran church.

More than an introduction, this is an interpretation of the legacy of Luther tracing his impact over 500 years. Metaxas maintains Luther’s fire as well as earthy humor in writing a realistic portrait of a legendary man.
