So i feel I can no longer objectively review Hugh Howey's books. I have in the last week read the entire Wool series to date and the first two Molly Fyde books. I think I have now wandered into fanboy territory. I still say you should buy this book. If you don't like it I owe you a Coke.

What a great story! Land of Light is an impressive continuation of the Parsona Rescue. The characters' struggles and triumphs will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you wanting more. I could not tear my eyes away!

Zero stars would be more accurate. I really enjoyed book 1. Book 2 was even better. That is, until I got to page 249. Oh, I'm sorry, there was no page 249, or 250 or 251 through 284.
I paid to read the whole book, not bits and pieces of it. It's too late to return it, so unless I can figure out how to get a complete copy of this book. I'm going to be missing out on quite a bit.

This installment in the Bern series takes Molly and her crew to Drennard, the home of the enemy humans have been fighting for years. Once again this story is pretty much a non-stop action adventure sci-fi ride. The main characters in these stories are somewhat young, but that hasn't detracted from my enjoyment of the series at all. It would probably enjoyable to teen sci-fi fans, but that doesn't mean it isn't meant for the rest of us to read. I hate it when people complain that the characters in a story are too young and that because of that it must be a young adult book. Some pretty heavy stuff happens in these books including fairly graphic violence and the characters' reactions to those happenings, which doesn't generally happen in young adult books to my knowledge.

Molly is a young woman who has had a lot thrust upon her. She's been kicked out of the Flight Academy and is now traveling through the galaxy in the hopes of rescuing her parents. Molly follows her heart when it comes to making and protecting her friends, which often leads her into dangerous circumstances. Despite this Molly perseveres and tries to do what she feels is right even when it doesn't seem to be in her best interest. Molly, Cole, Walter, Edison and Anlyn are the main characters in this installment of the series and they have to overcome fear and hatred to continue on their mission.

Their adventure leads them into dangerous territory and even more dangerous circumstances to try to win their freedom. The characters are easy to identify with and I found it easy to get caught up in the story. Reading science fiction has been my love since I was a teen (over 30 years now). In that time I've developed a love of hard sci-fi, military sci-fi and dystopian sci-fi, as well as action adventure sci-fi. This book is definitely none of the first three, but fits nicely into the action adventure category. If you are looking to have someone include long theoretical formulas in the book, then this probably isn't the book for you. If you enjoy stories that dart around the universe meeting new characters and going new places while the characters run for their lives and try to figure out the clues that will lead to their survival, then I think you would enjoy this story.

There were a few spelling errors and incorrect word usage, but not so much as to be a real problem. This is one of Hugh Howey's earlier works and I suspect that as Mr. Howey's career moves forward he isn't spending much time going back to edit his first books. I more than understand this. I published a romance that I wrote 20 years ago primarily as a test of how to market an e-book. Several people have commented that they didn't like the way it ended and that they wanted more, but I don't have any interest in rewriting that book as I'm now 60,000 words into my new sci-fi book and am looking forward, not back. Oops, guess I'm wandering off topic. Nevertheless, I am about to finish the third book in this series and have thoroughly enjoyed reading these books thus far. There are some far-fetched things from time to time, but who am I to say what will happen in the universe as time passes. Perhaps Hugh Howey really knows the Bern Seer.

Molly Fyde and the Land of Light is a spectacular, captivating, and shocking follow up to The Parsona Rescue.

Howey's debut, Molly Fyde and the Parsona Rescue was amazing, but Land of Light was even more impressive. The novel starts off with an intriguing prologue, and the first chapter pulled me back into the story with ease. As the pages turn, this novel grips you entirely. With each startling secret or shocking moment, I became more entranced by the story. This is not a series you want to miss. If you love action, adventure, and a dash of romance, then you'll love The Bern Saga.

I'm not going to get into details here, because then I'd be spoiling the novel (and probably a few points in the first one)!

Highlights: Howey's description is fantastic, because he always makes me feel like I'm there, in the moment with the characters. I love how a few footnotes were included with this novel to help the reader's understanding, and I love how Howey took a risk by also giving us a glance into the other characters' minds, which I actually enjoyed.

Land of Light far exceeded my expectations, surpassing the greatness of The Parsona Rescue. Now I am definitely eagerly anticipating the release of the next novel, Molly Fyde and the Blood of Billions!

Lowlights: Hmm...nothing I can really think of. It was amazing. The Bern Saga is a must-read.

If this space were reserved for my reaction, it would go something like me asking a bunch of questions I just can't wait for the answers to! The last chapters promise a thrilling ending to this sci-fi trilogy, and there are just too many storylines to sort out with any kind of perfect ending. Having just finished the Land of Light, I'm in awe and pain trying to sort out my anticipation for the final installment. Alas, this is a review, and not a reaction paper.

I first noticed myself loving that we get more of the story from Cole's point of view. I battled with this a bit during the first novel, unsure of this method of storytelling and balance it creates between the main characters. As the book continues, we not only get more of Cole but Walter, Edison, and Anlyn as well! This requires some risk-taking on the part of the author, but pays off very well. Our five heroes are fleshed out, and the story takes on a new personality, much in the way the story is realized as so much bigger than Molly. You can't help but become invested in each character or the well-being of the entire galaxy.

As in the Parsona Rescue, we are taken on a philosophical planetary nose-dive. The theme of universality, thoroughly and intelligently pondered by Cole and Dani, continues to resonate with me. I can't help but wonder: if we were made aware of other life in the universe, is there any way we could possibly understand another's culture or politics? Would any form of technology or intelligence allow us to communicate in a way that would diminish our fear of the other? These are the questions my mind attempts to sort through during the Molly Fyde books....

I was given fair warning this installment could be considered "better" than its predecessor, and I did not heed that warning enough. This is a great book, even better than the first if you like to compare - and we know Molly doesn't - filled with twist after unexpected twist. Howey really ups his game here - I'm going to have to re-read the first two before August just so I don't forget every little detail when I begin the Blood of Billions!

Wonderful follow-up (second in a series of three, I think) book. Equals and maybe, close to surpasses, the first book, by Hugh Howey, Molly Fyde and the Persona Rescue. Molly Fyde and the Parsona Rescue

Lots of action and more adventures pulled me through this one quickly and then, as so many of the old-timey Saturday morning serial movies did, left me hanging from the cliff at the end of the book. Now, eagerly awaiting the third installment to this Sci-Fi series.

This author uses plots twists and other "writing devices" skillfully and writes to a level for an intelligent reader of any age group (except the very youngest). Very creative.

Molly is a wonderful centerpiece character in the books and a great "s-hero"; and her friends are nicely dimensional and add their individual aptitudes and personalities to support and boost the story. Who else, but Molly, has a fine looking Portuguese boyfriend AND navigator at her side? And, there's more...

Believable, readable, and just complex enough to engage your brain, with interesting viewpoints of both the previous events and the things happening in current/book time.

Read the first book before you read this one. See the link to the first book linked above in the first paragraph of this review. I believe you will enjoy both of them and get into another world for a great dose of living vicariously in the future.

Hugh sets you right down in an amazing future that you could actually believe that would exist. This story has it all Action, Mystery, Romance, and Suspense. I read the first novel, "Molly Fyde and the Persona Rescue" and fell in love with the characters. The characters are written beautifully, emanating real people that you hope exists in the future.

I picked up the first book and could not put it down until I finished the book. I could not wait until the next book was out because of the way Hugh ended the first book. I bought `Molly Fyde and the Land of Light" when it came out and I could not put it down until I finished reading the whole second book.

This book was brilliantly written and Hugh set me back into the future without a time machine, watching from all the characters viewpoints. Hugh really is a gifted writer and I will continue the adventure in the next book, which I may add that I can't wait to buy and open the cover and be shot back into the amazing future he created.

Molly Fyde and the Parsona Rescue was a wonderful debut, and earned a 4-star rating from me. Naturally, I was eager to read the sequel, Molly Fyde and the Land of Light, but it surpassed all of my expectations! 5-stars, no question.

Mr. Howey brings us right back into the story, but this time divulges more and more information from the perspective of the characters around Molly. I loved hearing the story from these different perspectives -- it added texture and depth to the events. Anlyn's story -- and that of her people -- is compelling and unexpected, and holds great promise for Book 3! I'd rather not give any of the story away, so I won't discuss specifics here.

The themes raised, however, are truly universal: How is the safety of one (or the few) to be measured against the safety of the many, and who gets to make those choices? How much of what goes on in our lives (and universe at large) is within our control (or even within our comprehension) and how much is not? How do we forge bonds of friendship and trust -- and with whom -- and how do we measure loyalty?

Hugh Howey is proving to be a highly-skilled storyteller with a gift for detail and pacing. He's got my attention; I'll be eagerly awaiting Molly Fyde and The Blood of Billions!! Oh, and I'd like a Wadi Thooo, please.

An amazing sequel to Molly Fyde and the Parsona Rescue. Molly and Cole continue their journey, following her `mother's' guidance. First, they stop on planet Drenard to drop off a Drenard that they saved. Communicating with special headbands, they find that the only way to leave Drenard is to become a Drenard. The only way to do that is to complete the Rite of Wadi Thooo. Edison had already gone, but not come back, when Walter, Cole, and Molly go out and try to capture a Wadi Thooo. Although, Molly's soft-heartedness might get them stuck on the planet.

At the same time, the Drenard they saved, Anlyn, is to become ruler of Drenard. Tough political decisions aren't a problem for her, but getting the public to agree the best way to handle threats is really the best way.

If they make it off the planet alive, will they be able to fulfill Molly's mother's wishes? Or will it be too much for Molly to handle?

Molly Fyde and the Land of Light is suspenseful and can transport you into Molly's world. If you liked the first Molly Fyde, this is a must-read.

I really enjoyed the Land of Light. There was plenty of action and adventure. The only reason I took away a star was because it didn't hold my attention as much as other Hugh Howey books have done in the past. I ended up reading a couple of other books at the same time, one of which actually tore me completely away from it. None-the-less, it ended in a way that makes me eager to start the next one in the series. I am curious to see if there will ever be a happy ending for poor Molly!

Just when I thought nothing could top the first book, Molly Fyde and the Parsona Rescue, I find myself contemplating how to write a fitting review for Land of Light. Let's just say it surpassed all of my expectations by a long shot! After the cliffhanger ending from Parsona Rescue, I wasn't sure how things would progress in this second book of the series. Didn't matter long though, because I found myself once again totally captivated from the first few pages. To call Howey a gifted storyteller is an understatement! He seems to know just how to pull readers in from the beginning and not let them go until the last page is finished-teasing the reader with what is yet to come in the next book of the series and making the reader giddy with anticipation. The story was full of everything you could imagine and then some! My only warning: the series is beyond addictive! Once you begin the journey with Molly Fyde, you'll find that the characters become a part of you. You feel for them during their times of sorrow and you rejoice when they experience happiness. You realize that through them you learn little things about yourself and it all happens before you even know what's hit you! This is one reader that will definitely be counting down the days until the release of book three, Blood of Billions!

Still somewhat disappointed after reading- doesn't quite match the quality of WOOL series but is a much better book than the first Molly Fyde novel. Leaves you with a great cliffhanger as well. Will read the next one and hope for more improvement.

Hugh Howey is excellent at creating believable universes and making us care about the people in them. Molly Fyde is a great female heroine----border line young adult novel but....I'm an adult nerd and I enjoyed a lot--not quite as strong as Wool series---I think this is an earlier work still very good

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. It was well written, has an engaging storyline and several unique and well-developed characters. A couple of times the author used words that did not fit the intended meaning, but overall the editing was good.

Howdy comes up with many unpredictable situations to extend the plot; however, the transitions are unbelievable. Since I have put so much time into reading the series, I will read book three eventually.

Once again Mr. Howey has outdone himself. I love all the new characters and cultures that have been introduced in this series. The action and adventure is great. The characters are developing nicely. The ending was great a and left me craving the next book. So here I go to book three.

The amazing tale of Molly Fyde just keeps getting better. It's not just the ending of the book that keeps me wanting more; I feel a genuine interest in the cast of characters and what is going to happen next. I find myself wanting to rush ahead to see how each situation will resolve and, at the same time, wanting to linger and enjoy the unfolding of the scenery and characters.

Having read very little sci fi or young adult books (never even read a Harry Potter!), I started this series as a favor to someone and now I'm hooked. Molly Fyde is so much more than just a YA sci fi series. It is, for me, a roller coaster of emotions and adventure that includes some thought provoking ideas that are just as relevant for here and today as they are for the locales and future date of the story. There is a little bit of something for reader of every level without feeling like it's dumbed down, unbalanced, or patched together.

I feel like I just got off the best ride at the county fair and am now standing in line for another ticket. Whatever the next adventure holds for Molly, I know I will be along.

I absolutely loved Wool. But this is a huge step down. Worth it I guess for the low price. I don't know how the writing of this book matches up with Wool in Hugh Howey's timeline but this reads like it was written by a teenager. The writing is very simple and repetitive. Then there is some unscientific stuff like being able to dodge lasers in short range ship to ship combat.

EXCITING, BREATHTAKING, ANXIOUS ANTICIPATION: There are not enough words in this earthling's vernacular that can adequately describe how outstanding "Molly Fyde and the Land of Light" is. From beginning to end, I was captivated by this amazing story with action and adventure so intense, that at times I found myself holding my breath with a white-knuckled grip on my book. Hugh Howey is a gifted storyteller, and I look forward to book number three - the release of which will undoubtedly feel to me like it is light years away. I cannot wait!
