Book details described as "New." The book I received seemed fairly new. Dirty back, scratch on front cover, damaged spine. These textbooks are expensive, and I was upset the quality of the book I received was not new. Not happy with what I received but needed the textbook immediately so I kept it. If it wasn't for needing the book for class, I would've returned it. Not happy with my experience.

This is a great resource in my library. Very detailed. Very heavy, large, hard-back book. I find the dialog interesting and well written. I will be keeping and paying for this book after renting this from the store. I do recommend this purchase. I did not use the accompanying workbook. I did use the online resource with the book. I have had this book for 10 months now.

This book is MASSIVE! I believe this textbook could be of better value if it is more concise. There is a lot of repeating information in this book that can be parred down. It's too wordy and makes it difficult to read. However, I have found out that this textbook is used as the gold standard when formulating test questions for the pediatric ATI test, which is probably why my nursing program has elected to use this book. I ended up scoring a Level 3 on my ATI test, but not from using this book, rather it was studying the ATI test book. My advice to the publishers is to do some major re-editing and streamline this book.

I am currently an Accelerated BSN student at one of the top nursing schools and wanted to post a review to counterbalance some of the negative ones here. This is a 2,000 page gold-standard compendium of evidence-based nursing care. It is well-organized to include pathophysiology, diagnostics, therapeutic management and nursing care management for the many, many illnesses and impairments it covers. This is THE pediatric nursing book you will keep on your shelf for years to come. It is more an encyclopedia than a "reader". Although I probably won't go into peds, this is a book I will keep to look up something that comes across my path and I'll be confident in the thorough information it will give me when I need it. Well worth the money, in my opinion. Also, the writing style is academic, and not too dry. I can understand how it would be frustrating to students to be assigned huge chunks of this book, because it contains a lot. And the repetition of detail, which I haven't noticed yet, is probably because many will use it by looking up a particular pathology rather than reading a whole section or even chapter at a time.

This book is amazing. It was a required textbook for nursing school and one of the only books I ended up keeping after graduation. I refer to it all the time and find myself reading the whole chapter just because of how interesting the subject matter is and how well the book is written. If you are in your pediatric clinical rotation or if you have any interest in pediatric nursing I highly recommend this book!
