The Secret History of Mermaids

I cannot say enough good things about this book. It's gorgeous! It's beautiful! It's fun! I never really liked reading as a kid, but if I had had books like this, wow, I'd have loved it. Also definitely spring for the hard cover. It's so worth it. The illustrations and add ons are amazing. So many great ideas from this. Seriously, you have to buy this. It's perfect for mermaid lovers!

If your kids love the "ology" books (Dragonology, Wizardology, etc.) then they will adore this beautiful book about one of our favorite mythological creatures...the Mermaid. The illustrations are very well done, and I must say that the book on a whole makes a great presentation. Just beautiful! It's the perfect gift for any child you know that loves mermaids. I don't really know any little girls that don't! A great birthday or holiday gift. It's a substantial book that looks like it cost far more than it does.

I love mermaids, have three mermaid tattoos, and a mermaid themed bathroom. When I saw this book, I knew that I had to have it as a bathroom read. I love all of the little lift flaps (my two-year-old loves them too) and all of the informative mermaid information presented. The book is serious, but also fun, a mix of information and illustrations. Every mermaid enthusiast should have this book.

This hard cover book has a total cool factor. The photos and illustrations are amazing and there’s blue marbles in the front. Little books inside the books pages have little pages of their own. It’s the details that really set this book apart. There are no stories inside in case you’re looking for that. Instead you’ll find things like how mermaids communicate with their tails, evolution of fish to mermaids to men. It’s quite fascinating and fun, With history from cultures around the world and definitely not in line with Disney’s famous mermaid. Though aimed at older children I’m betting it’s adults who appreciate this the most. Mine arrived with an ocean themed pop socket. Sweet!

Not for small children ~ This book is so different and hard to explain but it is a wonderful book! Buy it and see for yourself. It is almost as if I was a Merfolk reading about useful Sayings and charms of the Merfolk or Fluke signs ~ The Sea and It's meaning ~ Language and Communication and on and on.
I did not know what to expect but this wasn't it and I am THRILLED!!!!
It is so different and very awesome...
