I am pleasantly surprised with this series. Book one left me wanting to continue the series. I do feel the pace was a tad dragging in book two, however. We have all read horrible submissions in this genre, but this series does not fall into that category. Mind you this is not a Deborah Baroness book, but it will do. More than a just time filler until the next release of your favorite series. More like an author given time will be great.

Awesomeness. Really fun read! Read all three books and am waiting for more. Writing style is pretty solid and character development keeps you wondering whats everyone's motives when it comes to our heroine.

Urban Fantasy is rife with semi-annoying heroines but this one takes the cake. Only because the series is set in a variety of urban and rural settings in the U.K., and involves an interesting, not yet fully rendered system of magic, would I consider going forward with the next one after Bloodmagic. But not right away at any rate: Mack is just too annoying to take other than in small, well-spaced bites.

BloodMagic picks up a few months after the events that took place in Bloodfire. Mackenzie/Mack/Kitten/Red (for someone that doesn't like nick names she sure has a lot of them!) essentially left her family. Now she is on the run, just picking up odd jobs and making enough cash to stay alive. Eventually, she thinks she has found the solace she is looking for in a little town in Scotland. However, her past, and what she is has a way of catching up with her.
During this whole being on the run ordeal, she is starting to learn more about herself and her mysterious dragon blood (well 1/8 to be exact). But, as it would go, the more she learns about herself and her "powers," the more questions pop up that just need to be answered.
As with the first installment, Mackenzie has some major character development. She is actually somewhat complex. She has dimension! Her emotions and thoughts are often conflicting and she tries her best to do what is right by those that she cares about. Including those who, somewhere along the way have managed to wiggle their way into her heart without her consent...

"Bloodmagic" is the second novel in Helen Harper's "Blood Destiny" series. Mack is just trying to get by after being forced out of her pack. She's traveled to Inverness in rural Scotland to remain under the radar of the Brethren and their Lord Alpha. But when she looks for a job in a little out of date bookstore, she finds that its owner is not only as lonely as she is, but is kind and has some psychic abilities too. She can deal with that, no problem. But then a fae takes notice of her, and she accidentally activates the voice with Corrigan by mistake, Mack finds out that she can't stay hidden forever.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this novel. It was a good follow-up to the previous one. I recommend reading these books in order. You can even read its companion novella in the Corrigan series.

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!!
***I own the audiobook
The cover is beautiful and magical! Love it!!
I listened to this ebook while mowing quite a while ago, but life interfered for a while before I could get my review written. This is the 2nd book in the series. This is a series for adults.
Initially, I was confused about what was going on. I think this is because I have not read book 1 yet. I do own the book though. I plan on reading book 1 and maybe listening to book 2 again afterward because you never know what I might have missed in my confusion. I was thoroughly entertained by the story and narrator whose accent I love.
The book had plenty of mystery and intrigue. The book was entertaining, and I definitely want to read the whole series to see what happens with Mack.
I recommend this book to paranormal fans because it has a bit of everything and is definitely a wonderful story.

Bloodmagic is a good (not great) continuation of Book 1 in the Blood Destiny series.
The plot is not as fast-paced, and every decision Mack makes seems to be based on her notion that Corrigan will destroy her pack in Cornwall if he finds out that she is not a shifter as she pretends to be. As the story unfolds and as Mack continues to have interactions with Corrigan, it becomes quite apparent to the reader that Corrigan would not hurt her family if he found out that she was not a shifter. Therefore, Mack's unreasonable behavior becomes quite annoying. Also, Mack keeps reiterating over and over again that she must do this and that because if Corrigan finds out her true identity then her family will be hurt (even though a reader knows that this is not the case).
In this second installment, Mack is trying to build her own life away from the shifters and the Brethren, and she fails miserably due to her temper and questionable decision-making. Her journey takes her to a bookstore owned by a Ms. Alcoon, and when Ms. Alcoon tries to help Mack, Mack draws the attention of the Mages. Throw in a Fae, and you get a fairly interesting plot with some slow spots in between. The pacing could have been better.

I don't understand the amount of positive reviews for this book. The first one had some promise, but the heroine always irked me. Hoped it would change in the second book. No such luck! Mack feels like a hormonal 15 year old teenager, always snapping and fighting with others even when some of the characters are being nice to her. Her solution to all her problems is to simply attack/fight or run away from them. Not only that, she doesn't seem to be particularly bright. Half the problems she faced could have been solved with just a careful 10 minute of planing and thought. I can't even find myself to feel bad for her because 80% of the problems she faces where of her own doing. I get it, yes, her hotheadedness is supposed to be her flaw, but it seems 'hotheaded girl with good fighting skills' is the only thing she can be and nothing else.
Not only that, we spend way to much time in her head (a very uninteresting one at that). Non of the supporting characters get any back stories, the friends act nice so we just have to assume they are the good guys, bad guys attack simply out of spite. I'm not saying that they can't, but it just doesn't make sense. And don't get started on the villains. Text book cliche, that it, same can be said on the villain of the last book There is a point where Mack tries to help rescue a certain character, but because non of the relationships where established I couldn't even bring myself to care what happens to them!
The main love interest, I admit, did interest me at first, and seemed smarter, but are you telling me all his logic goes out the window the moment something concerns Mack? He's supposed to be all powerful and responsible, a leader of thousands; it just doesn't fit. I really wanted to like this book, but it took all my effort to finish it. If you want an intelligent funny heroine, stick to Kate Daniels or Mercy Thompson, Mack has nothing on them.

This book starts in Scotland, with more 'stuff'' just coming at her. This book starts to develop further characters who become integral to the story going forward. I loved the Aussie Beach dude who is the Wizard, and his name for Mack is 'Mack Attack'. The little jokes are sprinkled through this series, less than Highland Magic but there for the looking. The fey character of Solus is gorgeous as well. Be nice to see both these in their own books. Mack reacts as Mack does, she doesn't know enough about herself to do 'sensible' easily. I thought the series moved on well with this book. And of course Corrigan, what can I say, I have a weakness for Panthers, have had since I was a kid...

Bloodmagic continues the story of Mack being all alone now that she was kicked out of the pack. She's trying to hide from the Lord Alpha, and keep to herself mostly. But since Mack is such a spitfire it is hard for her to go unnoticed.
She is found by a Fae, who wants to know what she is. Then a human magic ends up giving her some special gifts.. So Mack has lots of problems now, trying to hide from the Magic people, the Alpha, and not only that but she has to be worried about what the Fae will do as well.
I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't as good as the first one, but it was still pretty good. And I can not wait to read more. The character's in this one where awesome. I loved that we got to see more of the Alpha in this one. And Mack got to meet some more friends. Now at the end it's like she's starting completely over.

This second book in the series was enjoyable with an interesting and fast-paced story that further developed the characters and world. My hesitation to give 5 stars is two-fold. One, I often got annoyed by Mack. Granted, part of the series is about her journey in which she grows and matures, but it did grate on me. There was something else that nagged at me, but I can't quite figure out how to describe it. Not enough to deter me from reading, though.

I read this entire series of Blood Destiny straight through then read the Corrigan series straight through. I could not put them down. These books are fantastic. Helen Harper leads you through the lives of the characters with amazing twists, realistic emotions and thrilling suspense. Fantastic. I will now purchase everything else this author has written.

Better than the first book! I absolutely love it! I wish there was more Mack and Corrigan time, but altogether it kept me very happy and highly entertained! I am hooked in Macks story and can't wait to keep reading and find out what happens with her! I also like the introduction of Solus and his character! Makes things fun and interesting!
I highly recommend this books! Great story! Great characters! Great book!

This book had more between Mack and Corrigan than the last book. While there is plenty of adventure and she continues to get herself and everyone around her in trouble, it is still lacking in the romance area. Although the characters did interact more, there is still the attraction that Corrigan has but not much is pursued.

Book two of this series did not disappoint. I just wish it was longer. I was just sorry book three was not out yet and really hope the Author keeps writing and get other books in the series out soon. I will definitely buy anything she writes if it is as good as the two books I have read so far.
