Yikes. Wow, this was a disappointment. How to count the ways?! I really wanted to love this one, but that didn't happen. In short, this read like a bad B-grade TV movie. You know the type. It always starts with an entertaining idea, then the producers butcher it into something so lackluster and choppy you wonder why you sat through it.
Everyone Loves a Hero is a story of two people who fall madly in love at first sight, and the trials and tribulations that happen when said couple move waaaaaaaaaay too fast into a seriously committed and long distance relationship. And while it started with much potential and had some great one-liners, it quickly sank as the relationship went into nauseating overdrive and the romance turned into a dysfunctional relationship.
Cole is the famous Captain Incredible from Chicago, a co-pilot who landed a jet airliner in a blizzard while saving the pilot from a heart attack. He has met the President, made the cover of People magazine...etc. Moreover, he is an uber handsome chick-magnet that has no noticeable flaws. Seriously, he's borderline perfect in every way. ( I think he may have been the inspiration for those `Porn for Women' calendars that were so popular a few years ago.)
He meets Olivia at the airport when he tries to stop an unruly customer from verbally assaulting her at her store. He gets knocked out cold, then minutes later wakes to Olivia's beautiful face, sparks flying, and little blue birds flying around her head. (OK, not really. No blue birds. I made that part up. But yes to the sparks.)
Olivia is a beautiful and highly insecure neurotic 27 y/o business student, she works part time at the Washington DC airport, and lives with Mom and Dad. And you guessed it, she is also a virgin. But it gets better. She is also an uber talented artist, but only her dad and a cousin know about her brilliant skill with pencil and paint.
When Cole and Olivia reunite weeks later (he was wheeled away in a stretcher so he didn't get her number, but he thought about her constantly), he finds her sketching passengers in the airport lobby and convinces her she is wasting her time in business school. They make a first date that sets their relationship into serious overdrive, and unleashes all of Olivia's pent up insecurities and neuroses.
Why is she so insecure you ask? Cole is hit on everywhere he goes. Women rudely dismiss Olivia, throw their phone number at him, and make suggestive sexual comments. He is always the gentleman and dismisses these ladies, but it gnaws on Olivia.
At times the relationship between Cole and Olivia was entertaining, and there were some great one liners between them and even a few hot sex scenes. But I never understood how he could fall for her. She was neurotic, needy and whiny. Her `woe-is-me' bit got old FAST. In real life, these two would likely burn out the relationship in only a few weeks when reality checks in and replaces all those fantasy illusions they have of each other.
The sex scenes come every other chapter, on average. Some scenes felt mechanical, but others were hot as shy Olivia becomes quite the aggressor in their bed play. (This was another oddity to the story. But I get it. Sex sells.)
The rest of this book can essentially be summed up with the rinse and repeat cycle of: "I love you!" gushing, followed by the "I don't trust you, how can I compete with the women and your fame!" angst, ending with the apologetic "the last thing in the world I want to do is hurt you". Then the cycle repeats again with more "I love you" gushing. Over and over.
Seriously, most of their conversations are either him trying to convince her to trust him, or just gooey-smoochy lover talk. We also get a crazy ex-girlfriend who messes with Olivia (now that was funny!), and an eye-rolling trip to San Francisco where Olivia's artistic dreams come true.
I had high hopes as many of my reading friends honestly enjoyed (if not loved) this book. I have also read great things about this author, so I was excited to read a book by her. This book did not work for me on many levels, but I will read the author again one day. Pinky swear.

I typically enjoy Marie Force's books.........but not this one. It was long, drawn out, and just plain painful! I absolutely hated Olivia. She was whiney and insecure and just plain irritating! She wanted Cole but was scared of his encroaching fan club members. She ran hot and cold...if my Kindle were a book I would have thrown it across the room. I skipped whole chapters and still the story line wasn't palatable. The best part of the story.........the end! Marie for next time please remember that LESS is definitely MORE.

Cole Langston, a co-pilot, stops in an airport shop for some Mentos just to be knocked out by a big guy harassing the cashier. This wasn't Cole's first time at playing the hero. When he landed a plane in the middle of a blizzard and saving the pilot, he made the headlines. This time though, he awoke to find Olivia Robison hovering over him and it was love at first sight for both of them.
Olivia attends business school, something she hates. Along with working at one of the airport shops, she's an artist. It's a hobby that she loves, but doesn't take it seriously until Cole comes along to encourage her along.
Let's talk about Olivia, shall we? Her insecurities dominated the story. If she wasn't insecure in her relationship with Cole, it was as an artist. She's a twenty-seven year old virgin, lacking in self-confidence. I get that, but to go from seriously naive to knowing what to do in the bedroom was way too far-fetched for even my imagination. What bothered me the most about Olivia was her I-can't-do-anything-unless-someone-tells-me-I-can attitude. A few times, I felt like screaming "Grow the [bleep] up!"
Even though Cole experienced many awkward dialogue moments with Olivia, I love this character. I didn't understand his attraction to Olivia and was ready to set him up with a much better woman, but what can you say when someone you love is attracted to the helpless type?
My rating is less than glowing, but I'm a huge fan of Marie Force. Loved-loved her first book, LINE OF SCRIMAGE and enjoyed her second, LOVE AT FIRST FLIGHT. I look forward to reading more of her books.

I usually like Marie Force, Wreck was a great book but this was a utter disappointment. It was bad in every way, characters were one dimensional, plot had no twists or turns, no interaction with the rest of the world just these two people telling each other how much they love each other and how wonderful they are. BORING.

A chance meeting...instant chemistry, hot love scenes..
The characters are larger than life...Her insecurity, his history..how to resolve their disparity? Somehow Marie Force managed to pull off a miracle! She never disappoints.

My Musings
I recently discovered this book through the Kindle Unlimited program and was able to purchase the audible for $1.99. I have loved The Gansett Island series by Marie Force, so I eagerly downloaded Everyone Loves a Hero. As usual with Ms. Force’s books, I enjoyed another delightful read!
Cole Langston is considered a hero after saving a fellow pilot when the man had a heart attack. While standing in line to buy a package of Mentos, he steps in to defend the newsstand clerk at the airport and ends up on the wrong end a meaty fist and is thrown into a Washington Redskins display. After blacking out for several minutes, he opens his eyes and sees a striking young woman with long dark hair and big brown eyes hovering over him, the same individual he was defending.
Olivia Langston has not had it easy. At twenty-seven, she is working in a low-paying job while trying to finish her business degree, although, she’s an artist at heart. Cole is the first person to see that in her. While she wants to trust in his love, she wary, especially since his celebrity status has women throwing themselves at him wherever they go.
Can Cole overcome her mistrust, or will the secret he keeps tear them apart forever?
I thoroughly enjoyed Everyone Loves a Hero. This is a character-driven story, showing how this couple can find true love amidst the chaos of their lives. The plot weaves in nicely, helping to showcase their character arches. The pacing is excellent and kept me engaged.
Olivia’s character pulled me in, and I became fully vested in her and liked her a great deal. Now at times, I did become a bit frustrated because of her mistrust and unwillingness to believe Cole is truly in love with her. However, I rooted for her thirst for independence. In this day and age, it is unusual for a young woman to still be living at home with her parents.
Cole is a great hero! I fell in love with him from the start. Although, he has a strong reason to avoid emotional attachments, since a woman from his past is obsessed with him and is constantly trying to interfere in his life. Yet, he immediately recognizes that he has fallen in love with Olivia. Of course, he has been involved with a lot of women and has to un-entangle himself from these many “friends with benefits” relationships. Normally I struggle with a male character who in essence has been a man-whore, his ability to know when he has found the right woman for him kept me from disliking that aspect of his personality.
Tanya Eby is a great narrator, and I enjoyed her performance a great deal. While she reads with emotion, her narration is so smooth and un-intrusive, it’s is easy to become lost in the story. She does an excellent job of giving each character a distinctive voice. Cole actually sounds like a male, which is a great feat, since so many times, the males with a female narrator sound way to feminine. I will definitely be looking for other audio books she has narrated.
Everyone Loves a Hero has great though flawed characters, a bit of humor and a great love story. I am glad I found this book, and I highly recommend it. Happy reading!

I LOVED THIS BOOK: "EVERYONE LOVES A HERO"!!! Thank you Marie for making this book available for Kindle Unlimited. You made it possible for me to enjoy a few hours of a brilliant love story. I normally cannot afford your books but when I find one of yours on KU, I immediately check it out. This book was such a tender love story. The only thing I wondered was why Olivia was so distrustful of Cole, the ace pilot who loved women but without fail gave them all up for her. She annoyed me at times; even though she loved Cole and knew he loved her. For the most part he stuck with her until he finally couldn't take her distrust any longer. Cole was sooooo easy to love. Thank you again for putting this book on KU. I wish more were on KU. Kindle Unlimited makes your wonderful books available to so many more hungry readers who need your beautiful stories. Those people who wrote negative reviews. I simply cannot understand. My reader friends, by all means, take a chance and read Marie Force's books. You will find them delightful.

4.5 Stars!
Cole ‘Jackpot’ Langston is a former Air Force pilot working as a First Officer for a commercial airline, based out of Chicago. He likes to live the high life with traveling, womanizing, and driving fast cars. When the pilot he is flying with has a heart attack and Cole is forced to take the passenger-filled plane down in a snowstorm, and then administers CPR, saving the pilot’s life he is named a hero. Fame is cool at first but Cole soon tires of all the media attention, though he still takes advantage of the female interest. Needless to say, he is quite the player. With good looks, charm and now ‘Hero’ status he sees plenty of action but is always upfront with the ladies, stating ahead of time he isn’t looking for anything serious.
That is until he gets knocked out standing up for a stranger and wakes up staring into the beautiful face of Olivia Robison. From that first ‘Jolt’ he is lost. Now he has to convince the insecure Olivia that she is it for him and despite all their odds, they can make this work…
I absolutely loved Cole and Olivia right away; the way they fought for their relationship to despite the numerous obstacles was absolutely endearing and I was unable to put this book down because of it.
Cole is just amazing in every way, not perfect by any means, but definitely a man you can easily fall in love with. He knows Olivia is the one for him right away but he has his work cut out for him convincing Olivia and getting rid of a few ex girlfriends while she isn’t looking.
These two provide the perfect balance for each other, Olivia inspiring Cole to be a better man and Cole giving Olivia the push and confidence that she needs.
Olivia is very insecure, she has led a sheltered life and is somewhat intimidated by Cole’s experience, but she is especially insecure when it comes to her abilities to keep him interested in her. And her feelings are very relatable. I know if a sexy, charming man was all of the sudden into me and professing his love I’d be a little wary too, especially with numerous women constantly throwing themselves at him right in front of her, ex-girlfriends showing up wherever they go and a crazy disgruntled ex causing trouble. Cole is patient and constantly reassures her with his words, actions and is just incredibly sweet. I found myself continually smiling while reading this novel. Cole also supports Olivia in her art, pushing her to attend art school and show other’s her work, giving her the courage she lacked.
When these two get together the sex scenes are sizzling and numerous. The writing flowed smoothly and kept me turning the pages, Cole & Olivia’s story was complex and very entertaining. Their character growth was also fascinating and dynamic. Good suspense with their relationship and a few twists to keep you guessing. The ending was wonderful and heart warming, it put a big smile on my face and I closed this book with a happy sigh.
The only reason this novel received a 4.5 from me instead of a 5 was because I thought that the ‘I love you’s’ came a little too quickly and too often, and though I loved all the sex scenes there was one or two too many and it seemed like filler for the plot.
I think that Everyone Loves a Hero would be a great read to lift your spirits if you’re feeling down, but is an exceptional read either way and I will be recommending it to my friends. And Cole was just *dreamy sigh*, wow. I will definitely be adding him to by BB harem. Make yourself comfy hon, I’ll be visiting you often! LoL
I’m not usually one for contemporary romances but this one grabbed me hook, line and sinker.

This is a stand alone story by Marie Force, which is kind of nice for a change, as she's not introducing a lot of characters and plotlines for future stories. The story has a good premise, with real possibilities. The H of the story was a hot womanizer who finally meets Ms. right, and wants to settle down. She, on the other hand, is not quite ready. When does that ever happen in a romance novel?
There are some nice scenes, and good conversations, and there are also some bad and implausible ones. The h is immature and inexperienced, which at times was endearing but at times made me wonder what the H saw in her. The whole super-successful artist thing was way over the top, and I think the story would have been better without it, but overall I'd say this was better than the average that's out there and I did read the entire book. I would have changed a few things, but overall it was an entertaining read with only minor frustrations. It's not something I would ever read again.

First Officer Cole Langston is a hero. A while back he landed a plane during a blizzard and tried to help the Captain, who was having a heart attack. Since then, he has been hounded by the paparrazi, women fall at his feet, he's on the cover of magazines and on many talk shows. Life is sweet.
Olivia paints, goes to school and works at a kiosk at the airport. She lives with her parents to save money. Her dad is a car salesman and her mom has trouble with hoarding. But besides all of the problems in her life, she is a pretty go lucky girl.
When an angry customer gets in Olivia's face at her airport job, Cole, standing in line, goes to defend her but instead catches a fist to the face. He is knocked out cold, but when he comes to, it is Olivia's face he sees. He is instantly besotted. However, much to his amusement, she doesn't know who he is!
Olivia finds him very attractive, but when she realizes who he is, she isn't interested. Even when Cole pursues Olivia, she is unsure. Everywhere they go, people throw themselves at Cole. Is she just another one of his conquests? Will Cole give up all the perks of notoriaty for love?
A very sweet romance - perfect to curl up with a cup of tea. Two very realistic characters set against a contempary setting with real issues and relationships. Most romances gloss over the insecurities and jealousy, but Marie Force meets the issues head on. With the sub-plot of Olivia's mom's hoarding, you will have your heart strings tugged. Fast-paced, great dialogue and filled with passion and great characters, Everyone Loves a Hero is a pure delight!

Wonderfully natural characters make this a delightful romance.
Olivia is 27, still living at home and working part time to put herself through business school at college. Olivia knows true love exists because she sees it in her cousin's marriage. But Olivia has had two men walk away from her so she figures true love isn't for her - even when she meets a hero.
Cole is ready to be finished with the publicity that has followed him since he saved a planeload of people when the chief pilot had a heart attack. When a customer is hassling a beautiful clerk at an airport store Cole steps in and gets knocked out for his troubles. He awakens to the beautiful eyes and an electric touch of the clerk, Olivia. All of a sudden his focus narrows to one woman.
Cole seeks Olivia out and she is stunned that "Captain Incredible" could be attracted to her. Cole is impressed by Olivia's art and encourages her to change majors and pursue an art career. He knows she is special and plans special dates to show her. But a long distance romance is difficult enough and it doesn't help to have old girlfriends popping up everywhere they go. Olivia has a hard time believing that Cole will stay with her when all these other women clearly throw themselves at him. Cole gets angry that Olivia won't trust him and accept his sincere feelings for her. This creates friction in their otherwise "love at first sight", intense romance.
The author does a wonderful job of making these characters warm and their romance natural. Olivia and Cole share little catch phrases with a lot of love and it is easy to root for them. It is also a little frustrating that Olivia can't get past her insecurities and that they both make decisions and mistakes that drive them apart. But I was confident the author would get them together and I was wrapped in the story till the very (happy) end. The love scenes are pretty sexy but not unpleasantly graphic. If you are looking for a warm, sexy, fun romance, with the focus on romance as the plot, this is a very enjoyable read. I look forward to ready more romance by Marie force.

Marie Force captures the world of instant celebrities and their struggles to just be normal in her latest romantic story....Everyone Loves A Hero.
First Officer Cole Langston was thrust into the worlds spotlight when he saved his captain and the passengers on his flight. At first the praise was heartwarming and special but now he just wants to get back to just being Cole---a pilot. Sure it had its perks; woman falling all over him but when he meets Olivia Robison it becomes intrusive.
Olivia Robison is struggling to get what she wants out of life. Family circumstances had made getting her college degree a longer journey then she would have liked. She has a hard time trusting anyone especially a famous pilot that literally falls at her feet at first meeting. Cole's reputation as a player has her over thinking why he would want to be with someone like her. Olivia is touched by Cole's interest in not just her but her art that she has never had any praise for before. He opens up a whole new world to her that she is afraid that just one wrong word or action will make it all disappear.
Olivia and Cole start a long distance relationship will all its ups and downs. But when a woman from his past makes strong claims on Cole's heart will Olivia flee or fight for their love?
Everyone Loves A Hero is a compelling love story filled with emotion and real life trials to overcome. Olivia and Cole both have complex lives that make their finding and keeping each other the hardest work either has done. Watching them peel back layers of their personalities is heartwarming and endearing. Marie Force writes such soul searching stories that will stay with you long after you have finished each story. I am so lucky to have found an author whose stories have such an impact.

Awwww, I just wanted to hug this couple. They were so adorable. This was truly a love at first sight and forget about everything else kind of book.
Cole is 36, womanizer, and he loves to fly. He has a woman at every stop and there are good and bad things about his new found fame. But that is old Cole, new Cole emerges the moment he sees Olivia and he wants nothing else but her. And I was just smiling because he is such a sweetie. Olivia, 27, goes to business school, works at the airport and loves to paint. She has a troubled family life, and does not get out much. I read on and just saw myself in her, so of course I had to like her when she was me. Of course she has doubts, because even when they are out together women flirt shamelessly with him, and a girl does wonder. Anyway they were utterly cute together, a couple that had to be together. And I do love love at first sight.
The drama, because there is always drama, is about Olivia's mum, the women who can't let go of Cole, and the issues and fears Olivia has with that. But he is sweet all way through, and she tries. Though there was one thing at the end where I felt like she really should have stopped and thought about a certain thing, but hey some extra drama to get over brings a great ending.
All right I am just gonna say it one more time, what a couple, group hug anyone?
Recommendation and final thoughts:
Do you like love at first sight? A couple that just want to be together, and a couple that just make you warm inside, well then this is the book for you. It was sweet, and the perfect cute lovestory about how two people just are meant to be together. Ok just one more time, I promise, cute story!

Cole Langston is a First Officer or in other words "Co-Pilot". After a safely landing the aircraft after the pilot had a heart attack during a bizarre no less, Cole now finds himself a hero. Cole is ready for someone else to have their fifteen minutes of fame.
Olivia is working temporary at one of the many airport kiosks. Olivia needs the money to help pay for her school. When an angry customer gets in Olivia's face, Cole comes to the rescue. Cole awakes to find the most beautiful angel he has even seen looking down at him. For all of Cole's troubles, he gets knocked out. Cole feels a spark towards Olivia. He asks her out and that is when the real sparks begin. Will Cole and Olivia find their happy ending?
I am a fan of Mrs. Force. Her latest novel, Everyone Loves a Hero is just what the doctor ordered for a cold, winter night! Cole and Olivia sizzle together. Cole did not let his fame get to his head. In fact he was just a normal guy, who happened to be really good looking. I liked Olivia. She was a nice match to Cole. Though at first Olivia was shy and took a little while to warm up to Cole. This was understandable as she had been burned in the past. Plus, Cole had tons of women throwing themselves at him, so it was hard to tell if he was just using her or if he really loved her. Lastly, if you have not tried a Marie Force book yet, than you need to pick up a copy of Everyone Loves a Hero and see what you are missing.

Everyone Loves a Hero by Marie Force
Contemporary Romance - Feb. 1st, 2011
3 1/2 stars
Office Cole Langston is the American pilot hero who landed a flight in the middle of a blizzard after the pilot suffered from a heart attack. With his good looks and charming personality, he is every woman's dream. Olivia Robinson is stuck in a MBA program that she does not like and works long hours at an airport kiosk to get through school. When Cole stands up for her against an obnoxious customer and gets beaten up in the process, Olivia thinks he is her hero and is instantly attracted to him. But will she allow her insecurities to destroy this fairy-tale romance?
Everyone Loves a Hero is breezy and engaging read. Who doesn't like the Cinderella theme when the underdog girl meets the charming prince? The chemistry between Cole and Olivia is palpable and relatable, saving this book from becoming another formulaic read. I especially like the little touches of realism that permeates their relationship, such as when Cole discussed their 8 years age gap with Olivia, which makes this a believable relationship.
All in all, a light, fun read, which is a heartwarming read during the cloudy, wintry days.

Wow! What a great story. Funny and sexy. Captivate you from front to last page. Then you still want more. This is Marie Force at her best. I read Love At First Flight, loved it but thought the ending was pretty bad. ELAH has a great plot from the beginning to the end. You will laugh, smile (so watch out if you aren't alone), frustrate (Our Olivia mistrusted and misjudged Cole over and over). You got to love our Cole, sexy, sensitive, patient, Captain Incredible! I think Cole and Olivia have to be the cutest couple in the history of Romance novels. Love their trip to SF, Olivia's first flight experience, sightseeings, Olivia's first art sale (when Cole told Victor he would have Olivia's manager called back, I laughed so hard). Love Tucker, Will & Jenny, and Victor & Paolo. They seem so real. Chelsea Harper, that's an intersting character.
Just a small pull back here. Olivia could use a little bit more self-confidence, particularly after our Cole poured his love to her over and over. Whatelse could you ask the guy to do more? Also,I kind of get it that Olivia was beautiful but Ms, Force didn't give us more detail description besides her hair and eye color (is she tall, slender, voluptous? I can picture Cole but not Olivia). And if her beauty could captivate our Cole, why nobody (men) turned their heads around and looked at her? The whole theme was how many women stared at Cole. No men gave a little peek at our Olivia. Then what did these 2 have in common (besides the jolt and sex!!) I kind of agree with some viewers here that the sex scences were a bit much. We could have read more of their conversations and interactions (which were really cute and funny).
Overall This is the best entertaining book. Highly recommend to read on the flight, as I did and not even notice when we landed.
Ms. Force, would you consider writing the second episode of ELAH? I'd love to find out what will happen to them afterward. Will they stay in DCA or move back to Chicago after Olivia finishes school? Will they have children? Will she become a famous artist and Cole become Mr.Mom? What a great love story!!

I had some problems with the story midway through. Yes, love at first sight, OK. {spoiler} Torn condom, and acceptence that they may have some serious future to deal with as a result, OK. But then after having knowing each other for a very short time, and without a whole lot of mutual trust - she doesn't trust his feelings for her, he doesn't trust her enough to share his past, they leave the condoms aside altogther and start trying for a baby. Well, I guess that is how some people end up on Jerry Springer, but I don't really want to read their story. They both seemed too stupid to be real to me at this point. But the hero (who Force has all but walking on water) is really unsympathetic to our herione (who she has crafted as the sweet innocent) when she is jarringly confronted with his past. He admits he was not even close to up front with her about it, and then storms out, angry with her. We've all been here before...the romance that has a black moment because of emotion or lack of communication (the lamest kind of black moment in my opionion), and really what else could Force do here because her characters were otherwise so un-understandably in love. But Cole realizes he's a jerk {oh right, spoilers}, does he apologize? Give her a call? Send her a letter? text her? NO! No, he buys a house in her old home town, relocates and then asks her best friend in the world to deceive her and lure her to the house to meet him. Um, no. Not in our Jerry Springer world I'm afraid. Or even Oprah's. Any good friend would have spilled the beans and helped her go all Carrie Underwood on his black Mustang...just sayin'.
It started sweet, could have gone somewhere, Natasha could have been more of a suspensful creepy element, but it was just lame in the end.

However, I cannot overlook the fact that the characters were incredibly dull and not one moment seemed special. They say "I love you" and then have sex and repeat. Plus some minor instances that shouldn't even count as a problem. I cannot even finish this book. In the beginning, when Cole gets knocked out, it came out of nowhere. It just happens, and the reader is supposed to accept that? Then he wakes up and falls in love with Olivia who is checking to see if he's alright... Seriously? This is not the Little Mermaid. At least Eric falls in love with her face AND her singing.
Olivia is cynical about love and is always doubting Cole. Her cousin is childish, even though she's married and has a kid. Her husband is one of the girls, and gossips... Cole has this crazy stalker called Nutty Natasha and she is in her own little retarded nation (having pestered Cole for the longest time and getting away with it). Cole doesn't even report it to the police to get a restraining order. He calls her parents instead like it's going to help... WTF. How old are these characters? This is a teenage drama story.
If you're into strangers falling in love at first sight, recognizing it almost at the same moment they meet, and spilling all their baggage of troubles in a couple of pages, this is the book for you.
Such a disappointment and a waste of money.
