Book was very informative and left no surprises come test time. I was over prepared after reading through this book, doing the paractice tests, and using the cheat sheets for some last minute studying. Would recommend to anyone.

So far I have been reading the book from chapter to chapeter and I appears to me that I may pass this time around. The military is something that I have wanted to do for years and I believe now with this book I have a passing chance. The word knowledge because of this book I have down padded and I am expecting to join the air force and start my career as a nurse while in there and word knowledge plays a huge part in that so I have to pass that and the science section as well as the math andI think I have the right book for it. WIll be reading the book in it's entire and I will then go to take the ASVAB and I will keep you posted on my results. Thanks the store for selling this book for so cheap.

Almost all the books had writing and/or excessive highlighting. If you do buy these books used and you care about the quality, I would recommend making sure it has little to no writing. Also a tip for others, if you choose to sell books, please do not highlight and write all over them. It reduces the quality and can be distracting for the reader.

Bought for my son to prep for ASVAB, The book was fine and I am sure helped him increase his scores but he said the actual test was an adaptive test online and the book formats were a lot different than the actual test. I can attest for sure but that's his feedback. The good news is he passed well and qualified for about 90% of the Navy's jobs. He has a December planned entry!

Much easier than trying to compile the information on your own or paying for an overpriced course. Just make sure you can keep yourself accountable to work through the books. Have yet to take the MCAT to know how relevant they are.

Great and comprehensive review! Comes with online material and access to the flashcard application, which is awesome. Online material has videos, a ton of practice questions, and full length practice tests. There is even more material in the book.

My only complaint is that the glossary in the books is seriously lacking. I was hoping that every bolded word would have a definition in the glossary, but more often than not, I am finding that I have to look things up on google.

This is a must buy!! I only had 1 wk to brush up before taking the ASVAB; and I had to maintain the score I had originally (my old scores expired) in order to keep my MOS. I studied day and night for 1 week, took the practice tests...and PASSED with a score 2pts higher than my original! The only downside is that the AR and MK sections (math) weren't very thorough in explaining how they achieved the answers to the problem. It would be nice if Kaplan had a live tutor you could access in order to ask more detailed questions

Ordered this for my 18 yo son. He had taken a short test (may not have been a good indicator) and scored dismally - he got a 33 which was one point above the minimum required to get in. We got this book, he went through it about 3 times, took the practice tests, and then went in for the ASVAB. He scored an 86 which places him in the top 10% of all entrants. He can pretty much have his pick of careers in the Army.

Worth every penny. Just gotta be sure to really use the book.

He just shipped out today ... got his dream Job - Explosive ordnance Disposal (bomb tech).

I highly recommend these books! I have heard from other people that Kaplan is the way to go and I have found them amazing! The pages are pretty thin and rip easily but if you take care of them then you will be just fine!

Great the store and great Kaplan MCAT Books. Particularly useful to have synthetized such a big amount of data on different fields to be prepared for Medical Studies. Study in progress, but very well written books.

Bought this book set in May. Finally opened it to discover that the Organic Chemistry prep book was replaced with an additional General Chemistry. I was essentially sold an incomplete set. Very disappointed, especially now that I can not return it.

I previously purchased the first edition of these books and was hoping the third would have significant changes, such as consolidated material or new/improved questions. The third edition was nearly identical to the first.
I will note that I thoroughly enjoyed reading through the first edition and believe these books were great study materials. I was disappointed by the lack of updates to the new books.

My books arrived damaged, with the corners being worn down and the pages of some of the books being ruined. The cardboard casing was torn in places and the item itself didn’t look new. It looked like it was dropped in a puddle then delivered to me. I was really excited to start studying for the MCAT but now I’m just disappointed.

I bought this to improve my GT score on my asvab. I was having trouble with the Arithmetic Reasoning area. This reviewer helped me more on it. Although some of the examples amd solution is vague on the AR area. Comes with an answer sheet that u could photocopy as well to keep taking those practice test. I havent tried the cd or online version of this though. The book was enough as a study guide.

Great colored pages. Shipped super fast (1 day) and was wrapped and not damaged. The pages are very thin, so I can see how they might rip if you turn the page too hard/fast.

Also, this version of the textbooks has been printed to correct the typos that were in the previous version.

Where is the Online Access code? This is your title: MCAT Complete 7-Book Subject Review: Online + Book (Kaplan Test Prep) Third Edition. I order it and I was surprised when I saw no online access code.

Everything arrived on time and shrinkwrapped. In addition to the 7 books, it also has an MCAT quick sheet. This has a lot of good, pertinent information for the exam that you should study just prior to your test date. At the end of each section in the chapter there are concept questions to help review important concepts from that section. At the end of the chapter there are answers to these questions as well as a good summary of the entire chapter. There are also practice questions pertaining to that chapter located there. It comes with an online portion that is helpful, however it is not heavy in content. So far I'm very satisfied. I take the MCAT in May so we will see how it goes. Also, better MCAT scores are guaranteed or your money back.

Very comprehensive series. Quite as bit a detail on each subject. It is nice to take an online test before reviewing and studying the material in the books to gather a baseline snapshot as to where you score. Moving forward I will take other online tests after reviewing all books in the series.

Online tests, in the book tests, study guides. I have purchased a lot of books for the Asvab, I have only just sat down with the books themselves but I prefer this one to the Flash Cards book and the previous Kaplan 2012 Asvab. The introduction is not bad and it comes with a dvd on study guides and helpful hints. I would recommend getting this for those wanting to go out and take the test.

I love these books. Great - to the point explanations, topics are ordered nicely, and concept checks/discrete practice questions at the end of each section really help reinforce the material. I've only really explored the verbal, chem, and organic chem books so far, but it seems to make up for the information I lack from the classes I haven't taken yet. I also bought EK, but I find myself using these more often and supplementing with EK for certain topics. (EK just simplifies things) Overall, a great buy. I'm really learning and this is probably the best investment toward my MCAT score that i've made thus far. :)

The math sections lacked or skipped information. I went from step one to step three. The mechanical instructions seemed vague. All the while, they encourage you to take breaks often. Quite the opposite of the discipline enforced in the military. I suggest seeking alternative methods and use this as a last resort.

As a college student, studying for the MCAT can be a scary thing. There are so many text options available, but I am so happy with the results of this one. A thorough piece of text that brought down my nerve level during studying. With free shipping, I had this in my hands in a matter of days! This book targets the main points that future doctors will find when it comes time to take their exams. Kaplan has a way of including many details into their text, which other publishing companies do not take the time to do. Excellent source to study from. I am very pleased with this product! If you are looking to do well in preparation for your exams, this is the series to buy. I received this product in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

The book was pretty succinct. It was pretty much straight to the point without too many other details. I combined it with Khan Academy, and did pretty well on the MCAT. I also used NextStep for the new sociology/psychology section and would highly recommend combining it with Khan Academy for the sociology/psychology section (I ended scoring in the 90+ percentile in that section). I’ve also heard about another free great online resource specifically for MCAT sociology that is underway [...]

Great book set!! The pages are really thin but it has all the content you would need to know for the exam is an easy to understand way. The biochem book is super useful but psyc/soc I feel like is missing some of the low-yeild content which could be supplemented with a sociology textbook. I am going to use this set, EK/Next Step CARS passages, and axilogy mcat planner for the first 8 weeks of prep. I might start exams after, will update then!

Honestly the new edition is so expensive and a waste when you can get the second edition which is also for the new mcat for like $10. If you want the PDF files of the edition prior to this one, still for the new mcat (very minimal changes compared to this edition) email me

Initial Review: 1 Star.

This series of testing material is half-baked. If you read other reviews from the store, none really tell you what you are getting into. "This is a great tool", or "My so-and-so thought it was great". Naturally, any resource is what you make of it. In this case, the work you put in banks on the reliability of the information. There should be no errors and no laziness in writing. The material should be concise and should be studious - opaque to those who haven't the slightest idea about medicine. This series is all but the aforementioned. It is thinly written and easy to understand. "How is this a bad thing?", you may ask. Though the topics themselves might be a reliable indicator of what is on the exam, the subject material itself is questionable (in my non-expert opinion). Learning easy material that is oversimplified and/or omitting important information is a VERY dangerous place to be. There is a difference between "review" and "omission".

One could easily compare this set of texts to any lower level college course during which the professor posts power point slides as the lecture material and expects the students to delve into the text book ad libitum - aimless to know what to study for the two midterm exams. Any successful college student has experienced this once or twice their freshman year: the power point slides seemed so wonderful and stimulating that they distracted the main focus from the study of the material. Then when test day came...the world ended. In that happy-go-lucky state, feelings of joy and confidence suppressed the neurotic and skeptical. Naturally, there is a level of stress that coincides with an adequate level of performance (Yerkes-Dodson, anyone?). In that moment that you realize you failed the test because you failed to prepare, you decide to never do the same again. Some students get this - others don't. That's why not all students matriculated graduate - fact of life. You learn or don't. Those who do recognize a snake pit in disguise stay on top. I'll save some of you the trouble and say this is one large pit.

First:
Smart people don't let their intellect's guard down. Everything is in the cards and everything isn't. It's case by case - but skepticism drives the boat. These books are designed to calm your intellectual nerves while casually and constantly interjecting that "successful MCAT test takers study around the clock for months on end". No. That's not how this works. It's 'study' if you didn't learn the material in the first place. It's 'review' if you already know it. So then the question becomes, "Who is Kaplan actually selling this series of texts to?" It sure isn't the people who already know the material. If it were, there would be one small book and it would be a simple guide to nailing the tricks that the AAMC throws at it's victims during a simple test that has now become a marathon in a frail attempt to weed out students. Oh wait...there is one such book in this series. Then why do I need the other books? I DON'T. As far as I know, there is no option to buy that little guide. You have to buy the whole set for $150.

Second:
Let's say you don't know the material that well and you need a serious refresher. O.K. This sounds like the guide for you! And let's say you'll take the 'study everything' approach, which works fine if you have the time and work efficiently - and let's say both are in effect. There are errors everywhere in every book. Some informational - others grammatical. I could care less about the grammatical errors, but the informational ones are intolerable - mostly arisen from test questions. Case in point: Ask yourself, is a bank fine for over drafting one's account positive punishment or negative punishment? That's a question given on learning and memory in the behavioral sciences book. It's a highly subjective question - AND THAT'S THE ISSUE. The answer given by Kaplan is Positive Punishment - because a fine is an object presented as punishment. "No, this cannot be," I thought. The fine isn't punishing - it's the money you lose that is punishing. My skepticism took hold, so I took it upon myself to ask a former professor and mentor of mine - 30+ years in the field and THE expert at Baylor in Learning & Behavior. Like I answered, he also answered negative punishment. You lose money from a fine - that's the removal of an object (or objects) and it is punishing [if you like money]. With a grave error in such a sensitive area of all realms of psychology and sociology, I began to doubt the legitimacy of the information stored within the pages of each book.

So you might be thinking, "You're fretting over one question. Big deal. How is one question going to make a difference? There are lot's of questions on the MCAT and if you miss one, it'll be O.K."

I'd respond by saying, "It matters for the same reason that a BAC of 0.215 is completely different than a BAC of .0215. Yet, scribes make mistakes like that all the time in the ER. Are they fired? Not unless someone dies."

I have yet to try the the online questions or practice exam. I'm still reviewing material from my college texts. I'll edit this review when I've taken a practice exam.

There are no shortcuts for a job well done. Just remember that.

The book had so much information and I used it to study for about a week. The math portion was a bit vague! It was more difficult than the ASVAB that I took today. I took the AFCT (cat-asvab) - Nothing in this book was on the asvab except for electrical, auto and shop. These categories were not the ones I needed to boost my scores either. I felt like this book just made me prepare for the worst. I also studied using ASVAB for dummies which I believe it worked out better for me. Btw I got an 80 on the ASVAB. The percentile only measures your math and English! But I also scored high on GT and all the other categories leaving me with many job options. The best advice is to study and read the questions carefully!

Like all the other Kaplan Study Guides...it's not always about the content, but how it's presented. the approach used so that one can actually learn or comprehend something makes a huge difference...best guides ever!
