This book isn't bad, but has a LOT of typos and repeats the same information many times. I don't think a review book should say the same thing over and over again.. it doesn't feel like a review. The practice questions aren't bad, but the answers aren't always correct. It seems like they are using an old test bank for the answers and sometimes they do not reflect the question.

Good test taking tips and systems review. Only giving it 3 stars because I was frustrated the with number of typos. I thought by the 3rd edition they would have been corrected but have found multiple answers in the test key that make absolutely no sense because the answer might be Tetracycline when the question is what virus causes Fifths Disease or an answer is just wrong. This has happened enough times that I now doubt some right answers. I've had to cross check in other books to make sure an answer is actually right. It would be a great book if they just proof read and corrected all the mistakes.

Quality product. Contains all of the essentials so that this is easy to do at home. My first screen cover cracked after a pretty hard drop recently but my real phone screen was intact without a scratch! So I repurchased. Highly recommend! Fast shipping and great customer service.

No access to online material/practice even though the code was covered as if it hadn’t been used, must have been recovered to appear “like-new”. ??Now I have to pay an additional cost to get that access. To ensure you get additional online access, I would buy new.

According to the store, the print version of this book comes with easy access to the ebook which I think is wrong. I read other comes and people are not getting access to the electronic version of this book. I want my money back.

Addendum to my previous review...I've gotten most of the way through the book and if I could still return it I would! So many mistakes! They really lost me when they have crawling under the 3 month old milestone!
Lots of information, not sure that it's all relevant though. It's a lot to take in for a study guide and definitely more in depth than fast facts. I'm on page 102 and have now found at least a 3rd typo...I would expect better for the price and being the 3rd edition...

If you are expecting a book without errors, this is not the book for you. However, if you are wanting a book to help you pass your NP boards and want a book that gets down to the point without all the fluff, this IS the book for you. After taking (and passing) the AANP, I can tell you that the "exam tips" sections are worth their weight in gold. Yes, it could/should have been edited better (or at all), but I really believe this book can make the difference in someone passing or failing on their first attempt. It is broken down into the usual ROS sections and has sections for peds and geriatrics separately. Combine that with the test taking tips at the beginning, questions at the end, and you will be set. Get this book! And don't panic about the errors in it... after all, if you notice the errors and get through the book you should pass anyway, right?!

This is a waste of money here is why:
1. You get nothing besides a free download with the app- you still have to pay to “unlock” the app.
2. According to the store you can get a digital copy with your print copy to read on a tablet- this would not open.
3. I took Fitzgerald’s review and read her review book cover to cover and the information presented in this book is different from that information. Extremely confusing! I tryst Fitzgerakds information over this info.
4. The author will say “know....” but doesn’t tell explain it so you have to set the book down and google whatever she tells you to google...a book should teach you not send you to google!!
This was a HUGE waste of money.
UPDATE: So I have read the majority of the book at this point (I'm not sure why!!), some of the information is definitely wrong. For instance, Leik states that the HPV vaccine can be given to women up to 26 years old. CDC and all other review material says up to 26 years old. This is just an easy example. I honestly feel "dumber" now that I have read this book, and I am concerned about getting information confused on on boards. Bummer!
I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!

I give this book a solid "C," the content is helpful but is is poorly written, organized and edited. Many minor errors exist thoroughout. Needs to be better written. Often vague or confusing to the point of meaningless. Still useful as a review tool but very poorly executed by the publishers. They need to clean up this book.

I purchased the book as a new item. It came with plastic wrap and the code in the front of the book had the protective scratch off coating intact. When I revealed the code it was a code that had already been used. I purchased this to use as a prep book and wanted to use the questions to determine my weak areas. This purchase was a waste of my money.

I passed boards (04/2018)! This book was an excellent review preparation. This review book has the information needed to prepare for your exam. It is Clear and Precise. Read the exam tips in this book and don't forget to download the app and use.

I looked at the free preview and saw so many incorrect statements. For example, they incorrectly state Wernicke encephalopathy is "caused by thiamine." They also say that Broca's aphasia means speech is intact but comprehension is not. Their understanding of basic biostatistics is similarly poor!
Will not be purchasing this book.

I am reviewing before really using the book, which I’m sure is great based on other reviews. I am not happy that the “free app” has to be unlocked to even be useful.. which is an additional $50-$70.
