Unless you are starting your Cardiology Residency/Fellowship, this will be all the info you need to carry you through med school rotations. Straightforward, THOROUGH AND CONCISE, with plenty of example cases to test your skills at the end. Buy it or live a life of regret... no pressure.

Nice little resource for medical students of all kinds that need o learn to read 10 lead EKG's. If you are a visual learned and like pictures I would definitely recommend this book. The case studies are fun and memorable.

While starting medical school I was recommended to read Rapid Interpretation of EKG's by Dubin. While it was helpful, I didn't get the full grasp of EKGs as well. I decided to try another book to better polish up my skills and felt that this book was much better. I enjoyed the fact that the first couple chapters established the basics while the latter chapters focused on mastering the knowledge required for certain pathologies. This allowed me to jump around according to my needs/interest at the moment without feeling lost in the book. I found that extremely helpful. The quality of the diagrams, color, and tables are of high quality. The cases at the end of the chapters and the final chapter with a condensed overview is of great value.

I would recommend this to medical students or any health professional attempting to learn at minimum the basics of EKG interpretation.

The author connects the physiology of the heart in a given situation to clinical examples of what to expect from a patient that is presenting an abnormality on the EKG. For example, the author gives many examples of an EKG strip and a background story of what happened when that strip was taken. Then you are given the opportunity to explain it. Afterwards the author breaks down exactly why he came to a conclusion about the EKG strip.

Study the book instead of just reading through it. (Especially the first chapter as it provides the foundation for the rest of the book.) Truly understand what you are being taught and this really will be the only EKG book you will ever need.

I have my EMT license in Florida and this book has provided and excellent way to further my knowledge of the EKG. It's written in a simple and understanding way so that even the novice medical professional can understand the EKG.

Perhaps useful for someone just learning EKGs, especially the basic. I picked this up as a resident to refresh/further my EKG skills. Its not a particularly practical books, more words/explanations then actually EKGs. If you are just learning, perhaps worth a read (though there are better sources). If you are looking for a more clinically relevant book,. this is not it. I would recommend The ECG Pocket Brain (surprisingly useful learning tool for such a little book) 12-Lead EKG and Mattu's EKG's for EM are good for looking at actual EKGs

Amazing book. Simple, logical, with an intuitive progression of chapters dealing with the essential basics of reading EKG. Great for everyone in the medical profession looking to get a handle on EKGs.

This book is amazing. I went from knowing nothing about EKG's to knowing a little more. I look forward to being able to use this to supplement what I learn in the classroom. It was a very easy read, and very thorough.

Well written and easy to read. Useful for basic to advanced EKG interpretation. Very clear illustrations to understand A&P of heart electrical conduction. Will be a valuable resource for any level practitioner. SDE, RN

This makes learning EKG interpretation easy and almost fun. It is thorough and really gives a good explanation of what is going on within a rhythm strip. I just got a job as an RN in electrophysiology and learned a lot from this book about the arrythmias I need to know. GREAT purchase. If you are looking for an in depth explanation that is easy to understand, this is the book for you!!

Great book to help learn ekg rhythm and interpretation. It is not a 3rd grade level book meant for people who are not smart. The book is written in an easy to understand way that clarifies often complicated topics. Has really improved my understanding

I miss my Prime membership but my book arrived in new condition within a week. I prefer the explanations and format vs. Dubin (fill in the blank). Increased my understanding of why an ECG looks the way it does rather than memorizing patterns.

I purchased both Dubin's & Thaler's books. At my school we were strongly recommended first year to read the Dubin book. And although I liked the pictures, I felt that Dubin's style was not conducive to my longterm retention and actual learning. Thaler's book is a quick read, and moreover, after rising to second year, I felt that the information was more detailed than that of Dubin's book. However, I do have some points of contention with the Thaler book. I felt that the some of the topics that were important (hypertrophy, bundle branch block) were a little difficult to find. My recommendation would be that while Dubin may suffice for first year exposure to EKGs, Thaler's book is better for actually learning them. Also, this may be my personal bias, but I did not feel like looking at the fill-in-the-blanks in Dubin's book for a second or third time in order to review for reading EKGs. My absolute honest opinion would be to have a copy of both. Buy Dubin's Rapid EKGs if you are a visual learner, and buy Thaler's book for a quick reference. I hope this helps!

Compared to the famous book by Dubin I think that Thaler's is structured a little better and is more descriptive. Each chapter seemed like a well thought out lesson. I feel like I learned a lot from it very quickly, and that my understanding is solid.

I used to teach an ECG Technician course using this book. It includes all you need to know in a very simplistic visual format. We used this book and a stack of real Twelve Lead tracings and rhythm strips. The book supplies all the knowledge you need, the sudent just needs to put in the practice. Most of my students obtained placement in local Hospitals as ECG Techs or Telemetry Monitor Techs. That was during the second edition.... Now we're up to the eighth edition and I have managed Cardiac Cath Labs, EP Labs and now manage a busy Cardiology Practice. This is still my "Go To" when someone says they want to learn to read ECGs.

I love this book. My cardiologist attending recommended it. This book breaks it down wayyyy better than the Dubin. Easy to read and I can make a lot of sense of what I'm seeing on the abnormal EKG. Highly recommend it.

This book is absolutely a must have for med school. It makes learning to read an EKG very easy. The depth of physiology behind depolarization and repolarization is a lacking a bit, but it makes up in the clinical aspects.

This book makes understanding EKG/ECG more clear. I have found it to be helpful in my current course. My only dissappointment was that, though this is a seventh edition, it is not in color rather black and white, only! Otherwise, thanks!
