So impressed by the authors ability to make you like all of the characters in this messy love story. You will constantly be changing you mind about what the "right" thing to do is, just as the characters do the same. A quick read packed with empathy and real life troubles.

I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the premise and the plot, some parts were quite intense. It's just that towards the end parts of it got a little far fetched ... but I am going to overlook that and give it 4 stars anyway. I also enjoyed Good Grief and I look forward to Ms. Winston's next novel.

I highly recommend this book. It had me laughing out loud, and crying at times, and noting down so many true words about grief and widowhood. Having lost my own husband to cancer it was good to read about someone else's 'grief madness', and the pressures there can be from others to grieve in a certain way. And then the story becomes broader as Lolly Winston describes Sophie's gradual building of a new life. Loved it!

I really liked Good Grief. Because of that, I broke my rule one concerning book-buying: Check customer reviews on the store first. I didn't and wish I had.

I made it to page 67 in Chapter Four and decided that I really didn't give a rip what happened to these boring people. I rarely give up on a book this soon, but I just didn't care what happened to the characters. Life is too short. There are too many--and better--books out there waiting to be devoured!

While the writing is excellent, and the characters are very captivating, I found the subject matter hard to take. The constant themes of unhappiness, adultery, and chaos made me want a happy ending. I was very disappointed when that was not the case.

I thought this book was well written, and a quick read with great depth. I picked up the book not knowing what to expect and couldn't put the book down. Being a busy new Mom I needed a break from washing bottles, changing diapers ect. This gave me what I was looking for.

This book was pretty good. Lolly Winston is a creative writer who does well expanding the personalities of her characters. A lot of trama happened to the characters in the book, yet she brought out the sense of humor in each characher.

When I first started reading this book, I was really enjoying it. But as it went along, I found the characters to be very annoying, especially Toby. I wanted Elinor and Ted to make a choice and stick with it. I agree that the plot became very "soap-opera"ish. It was an easy read but disappointing at the end.

This book was a complete disappointment! The character development was shallow, the story line tiresome, and the conversations were boring. Like the book, the characters had no redeeming qualities! Oh, wait, I just thought of one...the book would make great kindling.

I loved Good Grief and bought Happiness Sold Separately as soon as it came out. I'm so sorry that I did. HSS was disappointing, with poorly developed characters, an infuriatingly slow plot, and a fizzle of an ending. I really wanted to like it, but just couldn't.

I felt the book was ok but definitely not great. I found the characters to be annoying and unrealistic. However I wouldn't say it was a "bad" book overall. Some people might find they are able to relate better than I did.
