My mother-in-law introduced me to Karin Slaughter, and I have become a fan. This is my second book, and I am trying to figure out which one I want to read next. My first read of her's was Fractured. I would recommend reading this one also.

LOVED this story, perfect length! The suspense and anticipation in all the right times made this book. Always enjoy Karin Slaughter and will continue to. I wish the ending here would happen more often in real life.

I love Karin Slaughters writing (although it scares me) and this shorter story was no exception, frightening, tense and all I could think was 'OMG he is going to get away with it'. Read in one sitting and as always engrossed in a terrific thriller.

I sampled this novella and was simply "snatched" into finding out how this was going to end. This piece is both entertaining, gripping and page turning. I wanted to jump up and yell "take that" at the end..... Well done Ms. Slaughter.

This book is amazing. It has just the right amount of action to keep me hooked and st the edge o my seat. Karin Slaughter did a fantastic job with every detail in this book, including the characters and the entire plot. I am definitely going to read more of her books.

I am a big fan of this series and am now reconciled to life without Jeffery Tolliver. I always like a "back story" and was surprised how much I liked this novella form. I anxiously await the next in this series.

It's always a long wait for the typical Slaughter fan for each new book to come out. So it's like getting a little, unexpected gift when a novella comes out in between books. And the novella does not disappoint, it's classic Slaughter: a page turner from beginning to the end.

I had to force myself to finish this book. It totally lacked suspense. I kept reading with the hopes of learning just what happened to Abigail while she was in captivity, but nothing was told. Also, it would have been a better read had Slaughter provided a build up to the actual kidnapping, background on the victim, as well as a history of the kidnapper. Instead, the bulk of the book subjects the reader to boring questioning of the perpetrator at the police station where details of the snatching are told by the detective, not by confession. Very disappointed in this book, but I guess this is the literary level you can expect for $1.99.

I really enjoyed this book but found it way too short. I prefer longer books as I am a fast reader and I was done much too soon. This was a very good book with lots of suspense and I really enjoy this author.

I love this author and the novella was the perfect length to tell a great story and wrap it up nicely. I think I liked it more because I felt like I knew the characters from prior books, but think it's a good stand alone story as well.

The price was right while the content was not. I found it awfully rushed. Lacked credibility. Left me with questions. It was well written but I rather would have spent the time reading something else...

I liked the story line and it read very fast. However, the descriptions of the locations got me confused all the time. I couldn't figure out in my head who was where and when. Nevertheless, a good read.

SNATCHED

This short story is simply a commercial exploitation of a subject without any insight into the terriible problem which is its subject. It starts in a public bathroom and never really gets out of it.

I enjoyed the book. It makes people aware that there are weirdos out there and that if you see somrthing that doesn't seem quite right, report it. Even if you're wrong. better to be embarrased and save a child

Even though this was a short story, it managed to give you almost everything that a novel would, with the benefit of being a quick read. The story line was amazing, and kept me constantly glued to my screen. But that's always what I expect from Karin slaughter. She is undoubtably one of my favorite thriller authors and I buy anything that has her name on it with out having to read what it's about. I can't wait for "criminal" to be released!

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a short read that gets to the point right away. I have started reading a few books that take way too long telling you about the characters in the beginning, I had to stop reading because I lost my interest. Snatched gives you just enough information without going on and on. I got into it like I would a suspenseful movie. Good short read.

Karin Slaughter never disappoints me with her books, well...except for the Jeffrey thing :). Plus I LOVE the Will Trent character. This book kept me anxious and on edge from the very beginning and was such a great story. My only complaint was that it was too short! Good writing and storytelling. I highly recommend it.

This was a good novella. I've never read anything from Karin Slaughter but I like her writting. She was able to evoke the emotions of the main character onto the reader. I really couldn't put the book down. However, at the end of this book is the first couple chapters of her new book Criminal. Again I was sucked into the story and was anxious to pre-order the book; however, there were a couple inconsistencies in her writing in the second chapter to Crimnial. I really like Snatched but I don't think I'll be buying her new book Criminal because of it.

Maybe worth $1.99 to some. Had a good story. Good characters. For some reason I feel like I just got ripped off though. This story should actually be .99. Very short, read very quickly. Good beginning, middle, and end. Not worth the 1.99 though. You can rent this author at your local library, so it doesn't make much since buying it and then done reading it before the 1.99 is even taken out of your checking account. I am a big fan of Karin Slaughter, however, this was first time I purchased an ebook of hers on the store and will be the last. I will only ever download books that I cannot get at my library, where it's FREE!!!!!!!

Karin Slaughter. Will Trent. Need I say more? Probably not, but here goes. Snatched is labeled as number 5.5 in the Will Trent Series. Previously available only as an e-short story, I read it as a print supplement to a paperback version of number six, Criminal.

GBI Special Agent Will Trent is whiling away the hours playing Minesweeper on his cell phone in one of many men’s restrooms at the Atlanta airport as he sits as bait during his not-so-special assignment for a hair-length regulations infraction. (Honestly? You have to read Criminal to see what that is really all about.) Suddenly, it is not his “gaydar” alerting him but his cop’s instinct when he hears a little girl’s voice in the next stall. “Please, I wanna go home.” Suddenly, his boredom is replaced by alarm and tension.

Erring on the side of caution – it could be a weary father or stepfather losing patience or some other plausible explanation – Will decides to follow rather than intervene. He does have the wherewithal to borrow a phone (having run down his battery), snap a photo, and send it off to his partner. He decides to follow his gut. As he gives chase, he loses sight of the man and the girl. The airport is shut down, but where is the girl?

The rapid pacing of this story is terrific. I got a sense of urgency that Will and the other agents feel as they pummel the suspect with questions and pool all their resources to track down his accomplices to locate the child. I felt the fear that the girl Abigail feels as she is yanked around by the stranger. There are no graphic images in this story, but the scenes in Snatched ring true in their grim portrayal of child abduction and exploitation. The ending is unlike most of Ms. Slaughter’s works. I highly recommend this short story for a quick burst of satisfaction.

Karin Slaughter. Will Trent. Snatched. In a word: Intense.

Karin Slaughter’s SNATCHED, (Will Trent Series #5.5) an e-book short story-a prequel to CRIMINAL is action packed, full of suspense beginning at Atlanta’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson, leading to child abduction, of all places in the restroom.

Will Trent (GBI) finds himself stuck policing the Atlanta airport restroom for crimes (as punishment), on the outlook for illicit sexual activities when he witnesses an attempted child abduction. Not knowing for sure if this is a parent or grandparent, he sets up security to catch the man; however he escapes and nothing will stop him from saving this innocent little girl.

Having lived in Atlanta most of my career, only twenty minutes from the airport, I have flown out of this airport, as many as 15 days+ a month with my job. (even found myself on a plane in Atlanta on 9/11 headed to Houston when we deplaned due to the bombing and airport was closed)—well aware what it is like to shut down this airport.

I enjoy Karin’s crime writing of Hot Atlanta as she gets down and dirty, to the root of the crime in this corrupt city! Will Trent is one of my favorite characters, and kind of sad, as now have read all the books in the series as started from the latest and been reading all the ones I missed. This is the last one, so hopefully 2015 will bring another installment, as want Will to find happiness and get rid of Angie!

I listened to the audiobook and Kathleen Early performance was awesome as usual! Can't wait for the next Will Trent saga!

Karin Slaughter is one of my favourite crime authors. I've read every last title she's written.

Slaughter moves her characters along in real time, so start with The Grant County books and then the Will Trent series. You can read them as stand alones, but you'd be robbing yourself of a fantastic series.

The last book, Criminal (my review) finally answered some long held questions about Will's background. I cannot wait to see where the next book - Unseen - takes us. (It's next up on my nightstand)

Snatched was a great little listen before I started in on Unseen. Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent Trent has been posted to airport duty - the washrooms specifically. While hiding out in a stall in the men's, he hears a little girl in the next stall say 'I want to go home.' Is the man with her her father? Nothing untoward was said or done, but Will's radar is tingling. He decides to follow the pair, but loses them in the large airport. But he's sure something's not right - and the airport is shut down on Will's intuition. The race is on to find the girl before she is spirited away.....or worse.

Kathleen Early has read the last few of Slaughter's books and I hope they use her for future books. Her voice is clear, with short, crisp tones that mirror the lead character's way of thinking and speaking. The tone is no nonsense and easily conveys the escalating tension of the hunt for the missing girl. She provides believable voices for other characters as well.

As, I said, this is a favourite series and character and the wrong narrator would ruin the image I have of these familiar players. Early hits the right note. An enjoyable listen of an excellent story!

For quite some time now I refused to award a book a five star review because simply almost none of the new novels I've read this year so far deserved it. Well, my attitude changed when I was fortunate enough to get hold of this novella.

Snatched seems to be just one of those special books where not a single word is out of place. And it's so beautifully written that it takes the reader's breath away. No I'm not talking about top shelf literary fiction here but for an absolutely thrilling read, with a great plot, well-crafted characters and quite a few surprises in the mix.

The main protagonist is special agent Will Trent, who's been assigned the duty to monitor the men's toilets in Atlanta Airport, as a form of punishment for not having had a haircut. He's been on the job for two weeks now and found it a complete bore. Something however is about to change.

What? Well, by a curious turn of events he'll find himself from one moment to the next in the epicenter of a kidnapping case. He'll overhear an exchange between a man and a six or seven year old girl and his instinct will raise the alarm. So, he'll approach them to take a look, and while his suspicions will be aroused even more, he'll do nothing to stand in their way, because apart from a gut feeling he has nothing else to show.

The events that will follow though will prove his instinct right, but they will also place him in an awkward position, since he didn't act on it, and as a result the said little girl went missing. And that despite the fact that the airport exits were sealed immediately and all the flights out were cancelled.

Now, all he can do is co-operate with his partner Faith Mitchell, his boss Amanda Wagner, who placed him in that position, and dozens of other cops from different states, in order to find out what the final destination of the abducted girl was and discover who's really responsible for the crime. His feelings of guilt will cloud his judgment, but they will not stop him from working hard and fast to save the day.

This is an action-packed story that will surely offer moments of pure reading pleasure to every crime fiction fan.

Special Agent Will Trent got on his boss's bad side with a not-quite regulation haircut and is stuck staking out bathrooms at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on the lookout for illicit sexual activity. Halfway through an uneventful day he hears an exchange between a man and the young girl with him that seems a bit off. But Will's premonition that something could go wrong isn't quite enough to act on... until something does.

This novella is the perfect length for the story being told, and the is a nice blend of suspense and procedural styles. The writing is clear, vividly descriptive and engaging. Will's increasingly tense race to find the child before it's too late is gripping from start to finish.

I picked this up based on the description and reading a sample. I had no prior familiarity with the author, nor did I realize this uses characters from an established series. This did not hinder the story in any way - it stands alone perfectly well without prior knowledge of Will Trent or his cohorts. However after reading Snatched I will definitely be checking into the series.

Highly recommended.

GBI Special Agent Will Trent did something to annoy his boss so he's relegated to monitoring the toilets at the Atlanta airport to trap potential sexual predators. What he inadvertently stumbles upon is a possible child abduction.

It may be short but it is riveting. Will races against time to find the little girl whose face he can never forget as he beats himself up for ignoring his first instincts. I enjoyed following him and the team of agents working the situation. There's no fluff or filler and this story moves.

Narrated by Kathleen Early, this was another fine performance and well crafted story in the series. Haven't read a "miss" yet.

SNATCHED, a novella by Karin Slaughter is a winner, a great one-hour lunch time read. Snatched, stars one of my favorite Slaughter characters, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agent, Will Trent. As punishment by his boss, Will is assigned Men’s Room duty at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the world’s busiest. His job is to ferret out and arrest sexual deviates preying on innocent passengers. He accidentally discovers a possible child abduction. Will’s uncertainty to make an arrest leads to a fast-paced but lengthy pursuit of the culprit and victim. Without giving away the exciting ending, suffice to say the reader will not stop reading this one until the final page. I give this wonderful short story a strong 5-star rating.

This fast paced novella about quick thinking and effective police work is a nice change of pace for those used to Slaughter's characters. This is the part of Will Trent him as focused and clever rather than immature and impulsive. In the usual Will Trent novels, one is left wondering about the safety of leaving the public protected by such volatile and emotionally immature, not to mention, physically abusive, police officers. Usually the characters relationships have a high school quality of drama and intensity. In this book, there is no focus on the personal life and the characters behave as adults doing a job. Good read.

The 6th installment in the Will Trent series was a novella. I am not a big fan of shorts but I was quite intrigued by Karin's last one: THORN IN MY SIDE. This one immediately grabbed my attention and read like a novel because it felt like it wasn't going to end anytime soon. I enjoyed the fast pace and building suspense while the characters helped move the action along.

Once the roller coaster reached its peak, the rest of the ride was very quick. It could have included some additional action at the end but still finished effectively. Maybe that's where being written as a novella held it back slightly.

It still enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it.

I don't normally read short stories and haven't had one that ever made me "loose sense of time and space and be in the book itself" as I do with great novels. The suspence was great, there was tense 'hold your breath' action, I was on the journey all the way with Will asking the same questions, and I enjoyed the police procedural part. I lost track of time and stayed up with a big day looming ahead of me. And yea, I had some watery eyes at one point. NOW for the bad side. I think if I had not just finished a book with Will , I would not so easily have connected with him and been as involved in the reading. The story itself is enough to keep you on the edge of your seat though so I still think it would be rewarding. If you are interested in the entire series, I wouldn't start with any short story, but if you had to pick one this would be the one. One thing I forgot, near the end there is some 'waiting' and I thought that could have been shortened. Overall, story, setting, characters, pacing, emotional and practical information, big payoff for time and money spent were all incredibly great!

Crime fiction fans looking for something quick and entertaining to read should consider the Kindle Single from Karin Slaughter titled, Snatched. This novella features Will Trent, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent who has appeared in full length Slaughter novels. The action in this book takes place at Atlanta's airport and kept me absorbed in the fast-paced action from beginning to end. Readers looking for something short and fun to read are those most likely to enjoy this novella. For Slaughter fans, it's a great appetizer before opening her latest novel.

Rating: Three-star (Recommended)

Will is being punished by his boss Amanda. While doing "john" duty at the Atlanta airport, he hears a young girls plea to go home. His gut instinct kicks in and his pursuit starts. As the airport gets shut down, Will is determined to not loose track of this little girl or her abductor. Great, quick story.

I will agree with everyone that this is a fast paced exciting story; I enjoyed the main character and thought the author wrote in a way that made it all come alive -- it was exciting and was on the edge of my seat. However, without giving away anything, I was disapointed when all of sudden it was over, leaving out the rest of what could have been the second exciting chase. Instead, we only hear about it as the story ends. Perhaps there is a limit on how long a kindle singlet can be. Despite this, it's a funs read and I do recommend it. enjoy!

This short story from Karin Slaughter can be read in less than an hour, yet packs quite a punch as it captures the horrific details of the beginning of a terrible crime, and the frantic effort to stop it.

Because he refuses to cut his hair (a silly set-up, but whatever), GSBI Agent Will Trent is doing bathroom duty at Atlanta's airport, looking for people doing illegal things in the stalls. He sees a weird looking man taking a young girl, only 6 or 7, to the bathroom. The girl looks frightened and scared. Will's first instict is that she's been kidnapped, but he also knows the girl could be with her father or other relative.

Will is suspicious enough to follow the man. Will loses them in the airport, but quickly discovers the girl was kidnapped. Thus begins the frantic search to find the girl. Will feels guilty for not doing something at first, and throws himself into finding the girl. The haunting part of the story is how well prepared the child predators are. They are a well-oiled machine and they will be lucky to save the girl.

Slaughter fans will enjoy this quick thrill ride. It's a good story, and has a satisfying ending.

I consider this as one of the boldest thrillers ever since Michael Jackson (pun intended).Slaughter was brilliant in her writing of this relatively short but exciting suspense novel. This is quite extraordinary especially from a female writer who would normally be associated with contemporary romance stories. From the intuitive and analytical thinking to the action-packed rescue mission, this is crime fiction at its best!

Pretty good little mystery. Short enough for a quick read with action but no real sub plots to flesh it out. Character was pretty standard cop with instincts that were always right on the nose correct. Made me want to get another longer novel by this author, which I did but could not get into that story.

Well executed novella which is definitely worth the price. Will sees a man with a child who arouses his suspicions when he is on stake out in the airport bathrooms. What follows is race against time to save the child and nail her traffikers. A fast paced, suspenseful novella which for once with this author is not brimming with gore. Well done.

The length reminds me of the novellas my mother read in her magazines, long enough to satisfy, short enough to read in a few short sittings. Add my favorite GBI agent, Will Trent and it is a winner. Reading it while on a flight made me really look at the children and their adult companions.
